Aizawa
Izuku is normally a little shit. It must come with the territory of having an annoyingly all knowing quirk because Nedzu is the same. But when Izuku's sick or injured, or God forbid concussed, he's so much worse. He mutters under his breath nonstop, in a futile attempt to not become overwhelmed with the sensory overload. And if you aren't watching him closely he will wander off compelled to act by his intuition. Of course, with how much info he's receiving at all times there's no way he'd be able to sleep without being drugged. Which of course, comes with its own set of problems.
Frankly, Izuku is just flat out exhausting to keep track of like this.
So, completely fed up I ignore the strange looks I get carrying the problem child over my shoulder wrapped in my usual sleeping bag.
My students watch in silent confusion as I settle him in the front corner of the classroom.
"Sensei…" Yaoyorozu starts, not quite sure how to ask. "Is that Midoriya?"
"It is."
"Is he alright? Shouldn't he be at home resting?"
"He's fine. Just concussed." I catchTodoroki's grimace. "Unfortunately, there is no one able to watch him and I don't even want to imagine the amount of trouble he'd get into if left to his own devices."
"Trouble?" Asui asks.
"What do you know about his quirk?" Now's as good a time as any to warn them.
"He said it was fire with a mental component, but he didn't get a chance to explain what that was." Uraraka answers.
"He has an extremely heightened intuition." Todoroki chimes in. "He just knows things. If you were to ask what was happening three blocks away he'd be able to tell you."
"More than that," I take over the explanation. "His intuition alerts him to dangers. All dangers within his range. And while this normally isn't an issue, when his mental state is impared… his impulse control gets drop kicked out a window."
"Surely it can't be that bad?" Kaminari asks unsurely "I mean he's dead asleep right now."
"The only reason he's asleep is because he's drugged out of his mind at the moment. The first time he got concussed was the singularly most terrifyingly productive weekend of my entire career. Several heroes and myself spent 2 days chasing him across the city as he beat up countless thugs, stopped multiple attempted murders and dismantled 4 kidnapping rings. He didn't sleep or eat the entire time. I believe the total number of arrests made was somewhere around 200. Needless to say, no one is keen on a repeat experience. Once was more than enough."
The kids, bar Todoroki, just stare at me with a sort of stunned disbelief. Like they can't decide if I'm lying. Not that I can blame them. Izuku often inspires that emotion in people.
"You're serious." Asui states with wide eyes.
"That is why Midoriya cannot be left alone. And as only a pro would have a chance to keep up with him, the responsibility fell to me as his teacher."
"Because you can erase his quirk?" Yaoyorozu asks.
"No, his quirk is more along the lines of a mutant quirk. He literally can not function without it, so I am unable to safely erase it." I tried that one time before deciding it wasn't worth the risk. The problem child damn near killed himself falling down the stairs. "No more questions. It's time for class."
Izuku mercifully sleeps through morning classes, before groggily waking minutes before lunch. His eyes are still amber as he unseeingly stares at the floor. Once he is a bit more aware he tries to escape the sleeping bag. But I've learned since the last time. The second he gets an arm out, my capture weapon is wrapped firmly around him.
"Let go." He demands.
"I'm not letting you wreck havoc across the city."
"I have to go."
"We've discussed this. I can't let Tsukauchi, I've already warned him he'll take care of things."
He glares at me, before giving up and flopping his head back. "Fine," I roll my eyes. The only time he acts his age is when he's sick or injured. His next words though, stop me short. "Something will happen here anyways."
"What will happen?" I sigh, pinching my brow.
"Someone's going to break onto the campus." He nonchalantly tells me.
"Are they dangerous?"
He narrows his eyes. "Very."
"Any idea of when?"
"Some time soon."
"Let the principal know."
I let him out of the sleeping bag keeping my capture weapon wrapped around his waist just in case he can't resist the urge and toss him his phone. He sends a quick text to Nedzu and then immediately starts typing a wall of text. I pity Tuskauchi for having to sort through it all.
"Eat." I order, tossing a protein bar at him. He doesn't respond, but he does stick the bar in his mouth, so I'll count that as a win.
Izuku suddenly straightens, his attention pulled out the classroom door. Seconds later the intruder alarm goes off. "They're here."
"Where?" I demand.
Izuku is already halfway through the door, sprinting down the hall. "Records room."
"They're gone." He informs me, but does not slow slamming the door of the records room open. There doesn't seem to be anything out of place, which is worrying. It means whoever was here knew exactly where to look for what they wanted.
"Any idea what they were after?"
Izuku tilts his head in consideration. "Too many possibilities to be certain. Whatever they were looking for was easy to find."
"So it's not likely that they were looking for the buildings schematics. Not that they are stored here anyways."
"No, it's most likely they are going after a student or teacher."
"All Might."
"Probably." He agrees "I think whoever's holding the leash is going to act soon."
I pinch my brow. "Keep this to yourself for now. We'll discuss it after school with All Might and Nedzu." The alarm finally stops as we're heading back to the classroom.
"I'll contact Byakuran and see if he's heard anything."
The classroom is buzzing when we enter that quickly fades out. "Hurry up and sit down."
"Aizawa-sensei, was it really the press that set off the alarm?" Iida asks.
I raise an eyebrow, seems like they caused a distraction. Well, there's no need to correct their belief. "You'll find that the press are really just a bunch of vultures with no regards to anyone's privacy. Regardless there will be a staff meeting later to discuss counter measures."
Most seem to accept that. The few who suspect there's more going on, wisely don't bring it up.
"Now then, you'll be choosing a class representative. I don't care how, sort that out on your own." I move off to the side and read over Izuku's shoulder a conversation between him, the principal and Byakuran about the situation.
"That's so normal." Someone comments.
"I don't want to be in the running." Izuku states, not looking up from his phone. "I have other responsibilities, and may not always be in class."
"Responsibilities?" Iida asks
"I often assist the police, I'm not at liberty to say more." He cuts off any more questions. For now anyways. With how curious some of them look, I think it won't belong until they start asking.
"Very well, should we take a vote?" Iida asks.
"Let's nominate a few people first. It'd be easier." Yaoyorozu suggests.
"Iida and Yaoyorozu would be good options." Izuku recommends.
Yaoyorozu blushes slightly, "I think Todoroki would be good as well."
Iida writes the names on the board. "Anyone else?"
"I want to nominate Kirishima." Kaminari adds.
The others seem pretty happy with the candidates and don't nominate anyone else. The votes cast and quickly tallied.
"So Iida is the class rep and Yaoyorozu is the vice rep"
"I promise I will do my utmost to meet your expectations." Iida promises.
"I'll be coming around later to collect everyone's contact info."
"Great, now that that's sorted let's move on."
The rest of class goes by painfully slowly, Izuku's mumbling is starting to get on my nerves. Thankfully, this situation has given him something to devote his intuition to that he only tries to run off two more times. I'm relieved when the final bell sounds.
"Come on problem child. I've got a meeting."
This is shaping up to be a very long day.
All Might in his civilian form and, surprisingly, Byaukran are already with the principal. All Might's and the principal's expressions are grim, and Byakuran's eyes glint madly. I don't know when Byakuran was let in on All Might's identity, but it's really not any of my business.
"What's with the leash?" Byakuran asks.
"He has a concussion, and I have no interest in chasing him across the city."
Anger flashes across his face, but is quickly replaced with his normal smiling expression. "Come sit with me Tsu-kun"
Izuku curls up to his side and I can see some of the tension that's been there all day fade from his shoulders.
"Now that we're all here," Nedzu starts, "during lunch someone broke into the records room. We don't know what they were looking for but chances are whoever it is is going to make a move soon."
"At least two people were involved." Izuku adds. " The person who caused a distraction by disintegrating the gate allowing the press on campus, and a person with a teleportation quirk in the records room. They were in and out too quickly for it to be anything else."
"The security cams in the room were knocked out before they could record anything as well." Nedzu states.
All Might sighs. "Whoever this is is very well organized."
"I've heard a few rumblings in the underground about someone going after All Might. There's nothing concrete to go on however." Byakuran idly plays with Izuku's hair.
"We thought you might be the target." I comment looking at a resigned All Might.
"The question is when they'll strike."
"If it were me." Izuku tilts his head. "I'd do it during the field trip to the USJ, he'd be forced to try to protect the students. That would make it a hostage situation, which would be much more difficult to resolve and more likely to result in casualties."
"It's likely." All Might agrees.
"Can we cancel the trip? Or at least postpone it?" I ask
"Can we afford to?" Izuku questions. "If we do that we're likely to give away that we had prior warning."
"If this is a one off attack that'd be fine as long as no one gets away."
"But if it's not, they're likely to start digging to find out who warned us."
"And it will eventually lead back to me, making myself, our class and their families a target." Izuku grimly states. "They'll definitely retaliate."
"We don't even know for sure that's when they'll strike. If we call it off for no discernible reason and there's no attack they'll realize somethings wrong."
"So we're damned if we do and damned if we don't." I tiredly rub my face.
"It looks like we don't have much choice then." Nedzu unhappily paces.
"You must absolutely not over tax yourself the day of the trip All Might."
"I understand."
"Let's talk about contingencies. Just in case something does go wrong."
The following hours are spent planning. Trying to take into consideration every possible outcome. Between Izuku, Nedzu and Byakuran, we have no lack of strategists. Eventually, we've done all we can.
I just hope it's enough.
