26. Kure Free Time Event 1

Kure Free Time Event #1:

I nervously approached Kure and greeted her, "Hey, Kure."

Kure replied, "What do you need?"

"I was thinking we could talk for a little bit."

"Are you the fucking university dean? You make it sound like I'm in trouble."

"Not at all! I just wanted to know you a little better."

She grunted, "Fine. But don't expect me to return the favor."

We spent time together talking about some of the reviews Kure's had to do over her career.

I said, "I gotta admit, some of your more negative material sounds pretty hilarious."

Kure responded, "Just so you know, dickhead, the point of negative reception is for whoever to improve upon their work, not to laugh at it."

"Oh… um… you actually had a more polite description of those reviews than I did."

"Is that a first for me or something? Do I get a fucking participation trophy? Woo-hoo, go fucking me," Kure said in a deadpan voice.

"Well… I mean…"

"You have to respond quicker than that. Do I need to I need to carry our fucking conversation again?"

"No, no, no, that's okay. I was wondering what your school life was like."

"Pointless. Next question."

"Um… but this isn't an interview."

"Okay, so how about you talk about yourself?"

"Well, I was in a national chess club for a bit back in high school."

"Hmm… I think I remember reviewing your performance."

"Really?! How did I do?"

"If you were ever looking for some fucking solace out of me, here it is… you were easily the best player in the tournament. I guess that's to be expected of an Ultimate, but…" she turned away for a second and continued, "never mind."

"Do you want to play a round or two to see I've improved?"

"I'd rather die."

"Oh. What do you hate so much about the offer?"

"That's none of your fucking business."

"Maybe next time?"

Kure didn't respond back so I continued, "Okay, well I suggest you join soon!"

She exclaimed, "You're not 'suggesting' anything to me, fucking asshat. Now leave before I make you."

"Okay, okay."

Even though she wouldn't admit it in a million years, I could see her insecurities come out little by little. Maybe a little more time will crack that case.
