[Caius' Perspective]

There was once a king and a shepherd's boy, the boy was told to be wise beyond years, so the king sent for the boy and asked him three questions, first how many drops of water in the ocean?

The boy told him, "Dam every river and stream, so that no water reaches the ocean, and I will count the drops for you"

The second question, how many stars in the sky?

So the boy requested a large piece of paper, and took a pen, making spots on the paper until it was impossible to count them, he then said to the king; "These are all the stars in the sky, you are welcome to count them for yourself"

The final question was this, how many seconds are in Eternity? And the boy said in reply...

"Now Caius" Godwin says, staring down at me as I collapse to my knees. "With the two of them unable to duel, it's your turn"

TURN CHANGE: CAIUS

I can't do anything with this... He stole my mark; I can't feel the crimson dragon's power anymore.

"Master..." I hear Beelze's voice in my head. That's right. She's still on my field.. "Stand Up. Be Strong. You're not out yet"

"How... Can I hear you...?"

"What are you babbling about Caius? Stand up and face your death like a man!" Godwin yells down at me, he can't hear her...

"Draw..." A trap card... Diabolic Chain of New Life... It'll completely reset my hand, deck, grave and field when my life is below 1000. What good is this? Nothing currently in my deck can destroy that Immortal, what's the good of restarting my side of the duel.

"I set one card and end my turn..."

TURN CHANGE: GODWIN

"Draw! I use the ability of my Immortal! Time to die Caius!"

I stare at the Immortal, and then glance at Beelze, it's not effect damage, even if I survive Beelze won't get stronger from it...

"CAIUS!" Her voice screams... But it's not just her; I hear other voices screaming with her... Akiza? No... Who are those voices...

The rapidly approaching purple light slows, the voices fading as I hear the sound of a clock ticking, then it stops with one echoing tick, the purple light frozen, everything frozen... What is this...

"You forget yourself Caius. You let him use those cards? Are you yourself not the Dragon's Paladin?" A voice speaks calmly to me, not Beelze's, not one I'm familiar with. But it feels familiar.

"Who... What are you?"

"That you already know, you may not realize it yet but you do. Stand up. We have much to fix. As I'm sure you know, time is wrong"

"How can I fix this? I can't beat him like this; I can't even call on the dragon..."

"Your own power, a power Lucifer managed to harness and use against us, a power Godwin has been unable to steal"

Power..? What..? Wait... Lucifer is... my... my son's name.

My memory seems to snap back into place. My Earth, this world... That future, my Son...

"Oh Caius, what has our story always been. We were never just a signer. The story of your life has always been that of a boy falling through time. You have known this world's future for a long time, and another future you cannot return to. Time is our domain. Now take it in hand, and make it your bitch."

I hear the ticking again, the purple light flaring as it speeds up toward me, and the disc of energy under my feet... How long has it been green? There's a flash of bright green in front of me, which fades to blue as I see something incredible. A wall of blue that is absorbing the impact from the Immortal's attack, my life points are dropping, but I don't feel it...

CAIUS LP -1

"WHAT?! HOW ARE YOU STILL STANDING!?" Godwin exclaims as he sees me, the barrier fading away and the disc I'm stood on fading to the same blue.

"Our power? Our domain?... I don't understand. But I'm activating my trap card! Diabolic Chain of New Life! Since my Life is below 1000 I reset all cards in my deck, grave, banished pile, extra deck, and field to where they were at the start of the duel, shuffle my deck, and draw 6 cards instead of 1 at the start of my turn! A new life for me in this duel with a single life point!"

Sorry Beelze. As she vanishes from the field, I hear her... chuckling?

"Tsk. What good is a new chance against my immortal?! Come my next turn I will have my immortal attack and kill you for good! Make your last turn!"

TURN CHANGE: CAIUS

I hold up my arm as my deck shuffles in my duel disk, looking away as a green light slowly spreads over my deck, then along the lines of the Condor mark, which then fades to blue as the light of my deck dies down, allowing me to see as... "I DRAW MY NEW HAND!"

I see it... The way the light changed my deck. It's completely changed... again! DAMMIT I LIKED MY MAIDENS!

"Do it Caius..."

"I begin with the spell, D-Gear Accel! By discarding a D-Gear monster my life become equal to its level multiplied by 300, then if I'm below 1000 I draw a card! I choose this level 3 D-Gear Feòragleoc"

Caius LP - 900

"And since I'm below 1000, draw!"

I'm holding 5 cards I've never seen before, not in my own world, not in this new one either. But of course I have that one skill many duellists fail to obtain. I can read cards...

"I set my pendulum scale with two D-Gear monsters! Scale 2 Resonatitan and Scale 9 Gizmech!"

P-Scale Caius, 2-9 (3-8)

"Now I pendulum summon D-Gear Chronorider!"

D-Gear Chronorider: Lv 6, DARK, ATK 2200

"Since I pendulum summoned Chronorider its ability activates, letting me add D-Gear Lazarus from my deck to my hand!"

Wonder if this card is what Aether became... The calling of a specific monster...

"Then I normal summon the added Lazarus, who happens to be a Tuner Monster!"

D-Gear Lazarus: Lv 2, DARK, ATK 900

"With these two monsters I SYNCHRO SUMMON!"

"My steel heart ticks once more.
The Corruption of Crimson gone, that I may return to my true strength!
My Soul and My Power once more as one!
SYNCHRO SUMMON LEVEL 8!
Reveal them!
Beelze of the Diabolic Dragons!"

Beelze of the Diabolic Dragons: Lv 8, DARK, ATK 3000

"That wretched dragon should be beyond you now Caius! How are you able to call it back?!"

I look at my arm where my mark used to be and shrug.

"No clue. But I'm taking it as it is! Since Lazarus was used to summon Beelze its effect adds D-Gear Chronogate to my hand from my deck!"

I look at the card the duel disk spits out. A spell card? A fusion spell at that, nice. Two cards left to turn this duel around.

"I activate the spell card... D-Gear Mirror Gear! I target a monster you control and summon a monster from my deck with the same level but lower attack points!"

Godwin bursts out laughing at that. "What good is a level ten monster with zero attack points?! That's the only number lower than one you can have!"

"You are correct."

My duel disk flashes up a display, there's only one monster in my deck that fits the criteria. So be it. What's the name...

"I summon... D-Gear Chronocrystal!"

D-Gear Chronocrystal: Lv 10, DARK, ATK 0

"Now, once per duel, if my life points are below a thousand, Chronocrystal lets me target a monster I control and another card on the field, and destroy them. So I target Beelze and Incarnaztec Temple!"

"You would sacrifice your best card to bring down my immortal!? You've gone mad Caius!"

"You're forgetting something Godwin. Whilst we can freely target my Beelze with effects to destroy her, she cannot actually be destroyed. So as the winds of time wear the temple to ruins, Beelze stands as my immortal guardian!"

Godwin looks in horror as the last remaining field spell is blasted away, and along with it his Earthbound Immortal freezes and cracks up, shimmering green-blue light shining from the cracks, which slowly spread across the condor mark lighting up the sky, and then shatters, causing a blinding flash of blue-green light, seeming to even freeze the King of the Netherworld in its place.

The only thing to ruin the strange beauty of the moment is Godwin's screams of horror. I look left and right and see Aeon and Estelle, the discs of energy beneath them now like the one beneath me, holding them up as they lay there...

"You haven't won yet Caius! Come my next turn I need only draw a monster with 900 attack power or more, and I can kill you!"

"Which is why you can't get that chance Godwin..."

I hold up the last card in my hand. Chronogate.

"I play the Spell Card, D-Gear Chronogate. This Fusion Spell lets me merge together Beelze and Chronocrystal!"

"No! Don't you dare Caius!" He exclaims in fear as the monsters merge together in more Green and Blue light.

"Come forth, D-Gear Chronologia!"

There's an eruption as the two lights merge together and after a moment I hear something.

"Oh Master... This is to be my new form?"

Such a familiar voice, then I see it. Her human form sat between the heads of a twin headed mechanical dragon, wearing a dress adorned with gears. It's incredible. It's beautiful. It's Beelze.

D-Gear Chronologia: Lv 11, DARK, ATK 4000

"That pest..." Godwin exclaims breathily. "Is nothing to me... My life points are too high..."

"Oh yeah, speaking of which, would you care to activate your effect Chronologia?"

"Happily Master, who am I to set my sights on?"

"What is she talking about?!" Godwin bursts out.

"Oh it seems the madman can hear me now master" She says with a chuckle.

"Godwin, Chronologia's ability lets her take the ability of one of the monsters sleeping in your grave, and use it as her own. So we'll be rewinding time and taking the power of your Ultimate Earthbound Immortal!"

The sound of ticking fills the area as Beelze raises her hand, a pinkish glow surrounding her, much like the light of the immortal.

"Now by skipping the battle phase..."

Godwin's face pales as the gears start whirring in his head.

"I lower your life points to one!"

Beelze then releases the energy around her toward Godwin, the blast encompassing him and causing a flare of red upon impact, all I hear is the ticking, a rush of wind, and the screams of pain.

Godwin LP -1

Godwin is left standing upon his tower, the condor mark's glow far weaker, and the red glow of the dragon's mark... gone. Then there's a glow of red on my arm, and Estelle's, and Aeon's... And down below where the Signers are.

As the light fades I see my mark back, but it's different now... Looks different, the dragon seems... lighter? What was wrong with it before..?

"You haven't won yet... You swine... The king approaches..."

I look over to the King of the Netherworld, who is a few paces from shore, and then back to Godwin.

"During my End Phase, I pay 500 life points and Chronologia's ability deals you 500 points of damage, the sands of time wear us down, and wears you to dust."

Caius LP: -500 = 400
Godwin LP: -500 = 0

CAIUS WINS

The blue-green flame envelops us both burning at us both, but not hurting me. Godwin however seems to turn grey, and then scatters in the air like ash.

There's a booming roar overhead as the king looms over the tower, I beat Godwin just in time.

"Chronologia!"

"Yes Master! Diabolic Wave!"

Another moment of silence, then the fires extend up to the King of the Netherworld, surrounding the giant monstrosity in flames.

A moment of silence as it turns the same grey and scatters like Godwin did, then cheers erupt from below, the signers ecstatic it seems... The discs of energy descend to the ground and Yusei rushes over to Estelle before anyone else can react, followed soon by the twins and Jack, no surprise, Trudge, Mina and Crow rush to check on Aeon, leaving me to think for a moment, then Akiza jumps into my arms. There's a lot we'll have to do to clean this up...

"In lower Pomerania, is a diamond mountain, it is two miles high, two miles wide, and two miles deep. Every hundred years, a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain. When the mountain is worn away by this entirely, the first second of eternity will have passed"
