"And I thought I had Daddy Issues" muttered Tony, having watched the entire memory along with the rest of the group.
"That is not true!" exclaimed Thor, "Father loves Loki! Surely if he had a known the situation, he would have-!"
"He would have killed James" stated Natasha blankly.
"How dare you! The All father is good-"
"He may be good Thor, but he's not perfect," said Steve. "Even good men, can and will do terrible things. Especially if motivated by Fear. I've seen it."
The thunder God was stunned, "You think that Father fears Loki?"
"He definitely fears that Prophecy: Ragnarök?" the Captain continued to point out. "So much so, that he literally rounded up Loki's kids. (His grandchildren) who I guess were at that time a bunch of innocents. And banished or trapped them: here, there, or anywhere in between. It was Odin who started this, not them. If Ragnarök does happen? He will have no one else to blame but himself. It is what is known as a Self-fulfilling Prophecy."
Thor shook his long blond mane. "I still say you are wrong. The All Father is not like that"
"When was the last time he gave praise to Loki?" questioned Bruce.
"What?"
The "God" raised an eyebrow. "When was the last time your father gave praise to your brother for doing something?"
"Well, there was a time when-"
Thor found he couldn't finish that sentence as his mind tried to come up with the memory and failing.
"Thor, in Loki's mind it is clear that you are the favored son. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not. But this is not your fault either. One of the biggest parenting mistakes on here on Earth is always comparing kid to another. They are not the same, they are individuals"
"That's a little deep for you. Isn't it Big Guy? Or does watching Dr. Phil help you with your anger issues?" asked Tony.
Bruce rolled his eyes, "I grew up in foster care for a few years. Shared with kids from all kinds of situations"
"While all this information is interesting, I fail to see how Loki's Daddy Issues is going to help us get through to him and make him tell us where the Tesseract is," said Fury.
"Patience Mr. Director, the mind is not something to be messed with and someone else has already scrambled it pretty good. We have to tread carefully. Thankfully Ahtohallan is helping restore the core memories which is what we'll see play out," said Mary Jane.
"Core Memories?"
"The life experiences that have played a role in making you who you are today" explained Midnight. Fury slowly nodded as a set of memories came up and kept flowing, one right after another:
*Lily's Memory of meeting Severus*
* The Hogwarts' Express, re-meeting James and the Sorting*
* A montage of Lily and Severus trying to maintain their friendship despite the rival house prejudices*
*James and his friends (The Marauders') various Pranks and the consistent bullying of Severus*
*Lily trying to stand up for her friend and James' attempts at bargaining/flirting with her*
* Her and Severus going as "friends" to the school dance where James spiked the punch bowl*
*Lily discovering she was pregnant, and her decision to keep it despite her family's objections: (Mainly that she would be doing it alone without the father if Severus didn't want to be involved.)
* Petunia wicked gloating that her "Freak" of a Sister wasn't so "Perfect" after all. Continuingly calling her baby a "Bastard" and her a "Whore" over the Christmas Holidays"
Thor had clutched his hammer in anger at her sister's words, especially at seeing his "Sister" cry alone on the floor in her bedroom. The others felt kind of bad for "her" too, even Fury. He distrusted the current Loki. But he sympathized with past Lily and her struggles.
*Her numerus attempts to tell Severus and the Marauders interrupting every…single…time. Causing more distance between the two as Severus began to dive deeper into his interests in the Dark Arts and the Slytherin Community in his house. *
* Before finally eclipsing that one day in late spring when James and his friends were once again tormenting him and Lily stepped in as usual. But this time was different. All it took was just ONE Wizarding racial slur in the heat of anger and humiliation to draw the irreversible line that ended their long friendship. *
*Though Severus later tried to apologize, it was too late. "You've chosen your way, and I've chosen mine" *
* Lily going into labor during Exams and the birth of Lucy*
Thor was memorized by the whole thing, having never been present for the previous births of his nephews and niece. Even when Mother and daughter momentarily turned blue and cold as ice, he could still feel and see the love and admiration Loki's female form had for her baby. This was a part of Loki that he hadn't seen before, and he liked it. Wishing that his brother would show more of that side. Though his thoughts were interrupted as Son of Stark laughed at the mentioned thought and possibility of them being "Fairies."
*The beginning of Lily's double life of trying to maintain being a high grading Student during the week and being a young Mom on the weekends. Thanks to the Headmaster and Head of House requesting and making a special portkey*
*Lily actually starting to "date" James in their final year as he had seemingly changed for the better*
*The final row between Severus and the Marauders just before graduation where he almost KILLED them when they ganged up on him in a pub "The Three Broomsticks". Only to be saved by Lily's intervention at the last minute.
But what stood out the most was the memory that came after:
"Thanks Lily Flower," said James after they apparated out of there with his arm around her shoulders, leaning his sore and battered body against her for support.
"Don't thank me just yet," she answered before suddenly body slamming him down on the floor of the Shrieking Shack. "OWW! Lily! What was that for?!" he cried out in pain.
"Don't play dumb with me James Potter! You know very well the "What?" and the "Why?" I've told you a Thousand times NOT to mess with Severus Snape! But did you ever LISTEN to me?! NO! Pain seems to be the ONLY thing you understand right now, so I'm doing to use it" She growled at him with fire in her emerald eyes.
"No! Lily! Don't-!" he begged and was rewarded with a stinging hex near his private area.
"Don't contradict me James, not when I am THIS close to relieving you of your manhood all together" she warned him and waited for the stinging died down. "Now I have somethings to say to you. And this time, you ARE going to listen" Lily declared eyeing James as he pulled himself up into a sitting position.
He had never seen Lily THIS mad in all the years he'd known her. James Potter was many things but he wasn't an idiot. Except for Tonight, apparently.
"Go on Lily, let me have it. Tell me how I shouldn't have picked another fight with poor Snivy."
"He almost KILLED you Tonight James. Do you REALIZE that?" Potter shook his head, as she continued
"-By picking on him all these years, you HAVE made an ENEMY. Regardless if he joins You-Know-Who's circle or not. I hope and pray he doesn't, and that the good I saw in him all those years ago will ultimately prevail. But he definitely HATES you. If you go after him again, I can guarantee one of you four, WILL DIE. Though it most likely will be REMUS who gets it. Seeing as Severus was carrying hand gun with Silver bullets in his back pocket-"
"How? (cough) How do you know that?" asked James, only to see Lily reach in her robes and pull out the weapon.
"This is NOT a GAME anymore James. And you had better STOP before somebody pays the price"
He stared at the dangerous muggle weapon. "You- You can't be certain that it's Snivy's" He practically begged,
"I took it from him myself Potter, using your invisibility cloak. Very interesting object by the way, let's you know what people REALLY think of you when you're "not" around" her eyes narrowed before asking.
"Now, can you THINK of a reason WHY Severus would be carrying this around? For Protection Maybe? Especially after the incident in sixth year?"
James' eyebrows raised, "But he wouldn't-! He promised Dumbledore-!"
"He promised him not to SAY anything. Tread carefully James,"
"But How would Snivy even-?"
"He was RAISED in the Muggle World, just as I was. Believe me, it's not all that hard for a MUGGLE teenager to get ahold of gun, bring it to school and start shooting their tormentors and a few victims. It happens all the time across the pond in the American news. If you value your LIVES you'll stop. Otherwise, I fear it's OPEN season on a for certain Stag, Dog, Wolf and Rat"
"But he didn't use the gun tonight."
"It was probably his LAST resort. Tell me, who started the fight?" James looked down, "Are you sorry? Or are your MORE Sorry for what could have happened. Now that I pointed it out."
Potter was silent,
"Alright…" said Lily, a moment later. "Next order of Business: WHERE do you come off wagering ME as a PRIZE to be WON?! She shouted, slapping him in the face.
"Lily I di-! Wait! You were THERE under the invisibility cloak?! Why?"
Lily snorted, " I was originally MEETING Severus. We had something IMPORANT to discuss that was NOT Marauders' Business. Something PRIVATE, that I was going to tell YOU if our relationship continued to progress. It was something I should have told him a long time ago. Because whether you like it or not: SEVERUS SNAPE WILL ALWAYS BE A PART OF MY LIFE. That, my "good" Sir is a FACT." She took a breath before saying the words: I had HIS baby, James"
"WHAT?"
"I am a Mother. I have been for TWO years, to a beautiful baby girl whose Father deserves to know of her existence. It was my hope that finally knowing about her would be enough to deter him from joining the Dark side of the upcoming War and at least…remaining Neutral or Grey.
But as usual, your selfish and jealous insecurities had to ruin EVERTHING!"
"I do not have selfish and jealous insecurities!"
"Oh, no? What else do you call somebody who continuously bullies a poor boy from an ABUSIVE home and who can't help the way he looks. And has different opinions apart from yours. For five straight years just because he has some crush on the same girl, the boy is friends with. And once they do break up, you still continue going after him because it's fun!
You disgust me, James! I truly thought you had changed this year. Which is why I gave you a chance.
But you just changed tactics, like the Quidditch player you are. I am NOT your Golden Snitch James. I am my OWN PERSON with my OWN thoughts and FEELINGS. Do you Understand? THE GAME IS OVER, and let's be honest: You never loved ME, never wanted me. Only the IDEA of Me"
Potter tried to object but she had her hand up, casting a nonverbal silencing charm before continuing
"And regardless of what now happens with Severus. Lucy and I are a PACKAGE deal. Her needs come before wants. There is NO room for Petty BOYS in my life, only a Good MAN. Whether he's a Wizard or Not…Goodbye James" she said, leaving the room. * End of Memory*
...
"Well, you can't say, you couldn't have seen that coming," said Bruce.
"It should have never escalated that far into Severus having to bring a gun with him for protection" commented Steve, shaking his head.
"Those teachers and Headmaster were the idiot ones who let things go on as they did," said Natasha, "Didn't they recognize the signs?"
"Sometimes, People choose to ignore what is right in front of them and end up paying for it later" Director Fury spat. "We can only hope that James had followed Lily's advice." He finished, finding it odd that past girl Loki had been so right with it and smart. But now?
There was something very fishy going on….
