Sonny's POV
I was woken up by my bed moving and realize that Sophie was jumping up and down to wake me up. "Wake up greaser!" She yells.
I chuckled at her and stood up as I caught her in my arms.
"Merry Christmas ya jumpy bean." I smiled.
She laughs.
"Merry Christmas big brother!" She said hugging me as I hugged her back.
I saw my parents walked in the room.
"Merry Christmas kiddos." Dad smiled as he held Sophie in his arms.
"We have a great surprise for you both." Mom said.
"What's that?" I asked.
"We're gonna be home more for now on." Dad said. "But I'm still working nightshift though, but I made some plan to be with you kids."
I smiled.
"And I'm gonna help grandma Lee to move in with Aunt Gina and file in for divorce." Mom added.
Yes, my grandmother can be safe and happy now!
"Mom, dad, I get what you guys are trying to do." I told them. "And I really appreciate that…but I love taking care of Sophie."
"We know dear." Mom said kissing my cheek. "But you need your space as well."
I gave her a hug.
"Thanks." I smiled.
"C'mon darlin', let's go see what Santa brought for you." Mom said.
She held Sophie in her arms.
"Yay!" She cheered.
We chuckled at her as they left the room.
"You comin' son?" My dad asked.
"Yeah." I replied as he patted the back of my head.
"Son, I want you to know that your mother and I are so proud of you." He told me. "And I know you want your freedom."
"It's fine dad." I said.
He gave me a half-smile.
"Alright, let's go downstairs." He said. "And remember, you are a great kid."
I smiled.
"Thanks dad." I said as he smiled.
We both walked out of my room and downstairs.
"Look Martie, look daddy!" Sophie squealed running over to us. "Santa came!"
"She sure did princess." Dad smiled. "You were a very good girl this year."
"Yep!" She smiled.
We laughed at the cuteness in her.
"Come on Martie, let's open the present!" Sophie said dragging me to the Christmas tree with all the presents under it.
"Ok kiddo." I laughed. "Let's see what Santa got for us ehh?"
We sat on the floor to open our presents, hey she's 4 going on 5 soon in September. We let kids have fun cause it's a happy holiday!
