Emmett's P.O.V

"Yo Greg, what's up with you hitting on Bella's little sister like that?" I casually asked as the bell rang. We had been in the woods just running around and goofing off, stuff we did to help us keep our heads. Greg still felt the need for human blood even though he had been off the stuff for years. He wasn't as much of a cannonball as Jasper is but he does need to have someone with him when he hunted. He also needed someone able to go to him in the blink of the eye if he felt himself slipping.

I was still really pissed about him hitting on Ariel and as my best friend, I had a right now know why. I knew he was attracted to her; he never hid that from me but the last couple days, I knew he could sense something was up. I needed to set my head right without revealing why I was so worked up. I don't think i have ever been this fucked up over a girl before, I was starting to sound like Edward.

Greg didn't have any special gifts like the family, but he had a knack for knowing when trouble was brewing. And if you were going to get into a fight, he was definitely the guy you wanted in your corner.

"She's hot!" I'm sure no one would miss him if he went missing. "Plus, something is bothering her, and I wanted to put a smile on her face." He refused to look at me and I knew he had a secret. I wished at this moment I had Edward's gift so I could read his mind, especially since Edward refuses to tell me anything that went on in Greg's mind. They had a pact about Edward not sharing any information he comes across, I just didn't know what Greg's side of the whole thing was.

"You, ugh, interested in her or something?" We stopped walking once we got to the back door. It led to the school's gymnasium. It was a lot easier to sneak in and out this way since we tried not to use any vampire speed while here. It was easier to keep our secret when we didn't do dumb shit like go all super speedy around the place no matter if they were humans and they wouldn't be able to keep up.

"Yea, I think I am. I mean I know all about her from what I can hear others say and she aint half bad." Before I did something I regretted I walked inside and into my math class. I heard him call my name a few times, but he never followed me.

I didn't pay attention to any of it, I did complete all the work, but I was too busy coming up with ways to apologize to Ariel. I was also texting Alice to see if she could see the future. She said some of it was grey, but she did see Ariel and I being ok, she just wasn't sure what was going to happen.

As I headed to my third class of the day, I did something stupid. I mean I think I did something great, but I also knew it was stupid of me to do what I did.

"Man, that Ariel chick is hot. What I wouldn't do to get into her pants." I heard someone say and then there were a few laughs.

"Oh yea, I wouldn't mind bending her over and showing her a good time." I rounded the corner to spot a couple of the football players together. I walked right up to them needing to find out who was talking shit about my girl.

"What the fuck did you just say?" I puffed up my chest to show off that I was the Alpha in this little group.

"Nothing that concerns you Cullen, I was just telling the guys here what Ariel does to me." I took a step toward Max, the team captain and quarterback.

"And what exactly does she do to you because as far as I knew you're not her type. Plus, I doubt Bella would let her little sister go anywhere near you."

"That's not what happened last night while she was at my place." I knew he was lying but the fact that he said something like that was making my patients thin, anything else and I was done.

"You're a lying little shit. I would suggest you stop talking about her like that or your going to regret it." The smile fell from his lips, but he just didn't understand what was coming for him.

"You mean how easily I'll be able to slide into her when I have her on her knees wet and begging for me. Or how when I take her against the wall, she'll be at my…" He never finished because my fist was flying directly into his face.

But I didn't stop with just one punch, oh no. I punched him again and again and again and while I was entirely pissed off, I was proud of myself for maintaining control of my vampire side.

It took Jasper and Greg to pull me off of him and that was only because Jasper wasn't playing fair and used his power to calm me down. As they dragged me down the hall, I yelled

"If I ever hear you say anything like that again you'll end up in the hospital. You can say goodbye to your football carrer!"

I was still pissed off and the guys kept asking what happened, but I refused to tell them, I couldn't bring myself to repeat such heinous words, especially when they were about the woman I was falling in love with.

I took off after that for a little to cool my head, only returning when I knew I wasn't going to do something more stupid. I got in trouble with the principal and when I thought I was finally going to be expelled but one of the guys who the little group stepped forward and told him what happened. He explained how I was provoked, and I did warn Max to shut the fuck up before he regretted his words.

The principal then gave me a week of in-house detention. On one hand he was angry that I got into a fight and nearly injured his star pupil but on the other he was proud that I was sticking up for someone. He then took another look at my grades and told me if I kept up the good work, I would be able to graduate with the rest of the class. The after giving me a final warning, he sent me on my way.

I made it to lunch in time to see Greg and Ariel waiting in line for something to eat. I strained my ears to listen to their conversation, a conversation I really wished wasn't happening. I made it to them just as I heard the answer to Ariel's question, a question she should have already known the answer too by the way he was looking at her.

"Are you flirting with me?" He chuckled before he loaded up 2 trays filled with food.

"And if I was?" Ariel's face turned a pretty shade of pink A color on her face that should have only been by my doing. I could feel my anger start all over again which surprised my because Greg was my best friend.

"I'd say you better stop before I put my fist through your face." They both turned to find me standing there, I must have looked pretty bad because she took a step back. I hoped she wasn't scared of me, pissed I could understand, but I never wanted her to be scared.

"Or what? You won't man up and claim her so why shouldn't someone else show interest in her." I was so surprised that he was standing up to me but what surprised me most was that he knew about Ariel and I. Well, I don't think he knew the extent of our relationship, but he must have known something was up with us.

"Wait you know?" Greg laughed and then gave her a smile that I never want to see him give her again.

"I've known for a while now. How can I not when you look at her like you want to devour her and she looks at every woman like she'd kill them if they touched you?"

"That obvious huh?" I mumbled through clenched teeth. We began walking to a table in the corner, I felt much better knowing he knew about us, though I still had 1 asswhole I needed to tell. Now that it was out in the open. I wanted to scream to the hole school that she was mine.

If I were a dog, I would be peeing all over her right now to mark my territory, instead I was going to have to get her something flashy…and big, big enough that whoever saw it wouldn't doubt that she was taken.

"Em, I told you to tell him and then things like this wouldn't have happened." She did try to tell me that no one would care but I just didn't listen. But to be fair I knew my friends and they could be pretty messed up too. I have already needed to shut down a few rumors Rose started spreading around school when Ariel first got here. Rumors I never want to repeat or hear repeated back to me.

"Dude there is no need to hide it from us. She's hot and she's Bella's sister, we like Bella because she's with your brother. Plus, if she can eat all this and not puke, she's my type of girl." Ariel took the tray from my hands as I was still in shock that this whole thing was so ok and that I overreacted. I should have just trusted my girl and told them, then I would not be feeling like I should rip my best friends head off.

"Ok here are the rules. Lunch ends in 20 minutes, you have that much time to clear your plate. Please keep it clean and no cheating or bothering the other person. It's not about finishing first but finishing the most." I was snapped out of my thoughts as we sat at the table and Gregg told her the rules of their little bet.

When I pointed at them, a clear sign to start, I couldn't help but grin. My best friend and my girl friend getting along and it couldn't get any better than that.
