Gamelover41592: Thanks

Matt (Guest): Sorry, their teams go into spoiler territory. Also, thanks for the tip off about the description (Been meaning to change that anyways)

Alright, time for my favorite chapter in the game. Really hope I do it justice. Let's go.

Mike, Pit and Zoey had never been more ready for a fight in their lives. They all hopped onto the Lightning Chariot, none caring about the somewhat tight squeeze.

"Phos! Lux! Giddyup!" Pit ordered. The chariot launched out the door at a speed that couldn't be matched.

"Woo hoo!" Mike cheered. "This thing flies!"

"This Lightning Chariot will pierce the force field on Palutena's temple. Keep your wits about you. You're moving so fast, you can't afford any slipup," Viridi explained, reminding everyone to curb their excitement.

"How did petting Phos and Lux go?" Zoey asked.

"THEY WERE SO FLUFFY!" Viridi promptly gushed. Everyone had a good laugh over it, almost making them forget just what was at stake. "Anyways, you'll reach a warp tunnel in about one minute." Mike took that as a cue to speed things up.

"Gaaaaaaah! My skin feels like it's going to peel right off!" Pit cried as he clung to the chariot.

"What was that? You want to go faster?!" Mike joked as he had Phos and Lux speed up again. This time, it had the added effect of causing Zoey to cling to him.

"You are the arrow of light that pierces the heart of darkness!" Viridi declared. "This chariot's a real beast. These speeds don't even touch it. Wish I could say the same for you guys, but you're such a fragile little thing. But even a pebble becomes a bullet if it moves fast enough. Just be extra careful not to get your butt ripped off in the process!"

"Don't you worry. we'll show you how it's done!" Pit declared.

"You sound awfully confident all of a sudden," Viridi noted.

"How hard can it be?" Pit asked.

"I think we'll find out soon enough," Zoey said. She then noticed that Mike looked like he was deep in thought. "Mike, what are you thinking about?"

"...If Pit lost his butt, would that make him a bottomless Pit?" Mike randomly asked. Viridi's hysterical laughter was so loud, everyone wondered just how far away it could be heard from. Zoey was laughing rather hard as well while Pit just groaned.

"Boo, bad joke," He pouted as he crossed his arms. Suddenly, a strange tunnel/portal came into view.

"You've reached the warp tunnel!" Viridi warned.

"Yeehaw!" Mike called out as he rode straight into it.

"Whoa-oa-oa! This is cra-a-a-zy!" Pit exclaimed as he braced himself in the chariot. How Mike had a chariot licence was beyond him.

"Oh stop being a baby! I'm even going that fast!" Mike insisted. "Besides, this baby will take us straight to Palutena's temple!"

"Hey, this might be a weird time to ask, but I have a question," Pit said once he managed to recover from Mike's insane driving.

"Ask away," Viridi replied.

"So...where exactly does the Chaos Kin come from anyways?" He asked. "So where did it come from?"

"It came from-" Viridi began, only to suddenly change topics. "Oop! You're almost at Palutena's temple!"

"Wait, what?!" Everyone exclaimed.

"Brace for impact!" Viridi ordered. Then the Lighting Chariot charged into the forcefield.

The shattering sound was beyond satisfying.

"Ha HA! Success! You still alive there, guys?" Viridi asked.

"And kicking!" Zoey called out as they jumped off the Lightning Chariot.

"Now to save Lady Palutena!" Pit declared. He landed on his face, while Mike and Zoey used their wings to stop their descent. "Oof!" Phosphora rushed after the chariot.

"I'll hold on to the Lightning Chariot for you," She explained.

"Where'd you come from?" Pit asked.

"Don't get the wrong idea," Phosphora warned. "I'm not here to help. Stopping Palutena's your job."

"We'll be fine sis," Mike assured her. "Just hold on to the reins tight! Those guys are strong!" Phosphora gave a joking salute as she rushed after it.

"Hello again, Pit. Zoey," Palutena said, her voice full of disdain.

"Lady Palutena!"

"Mom!"

"Now how did you make it through that barrier?" Palutena asked, almost sounding impressed. "It seems you're not the helpless, sniveling little things you were before."

"You have to stop attacking the humans!" Pit begged.

"No, Pit. Don't you see? This is my atonement for my greatest sin. I let the people grow arrogant and betray the heavenly order!" Palutena replied.

"It's not her," Mike assured his two partners. "It's that monster talking through her. Don't let it get under your skin."

"You're not yourself! The Lady Palutena I know would never say something like that!" Pit continued.

"Mom, please! You have to fight it!" Zoey chimed in.

"Please. Angels and ESPECIALLY humans cannot truly know gods," Palutena scoffed, although Zoey picked up her voice faintly wavering.

"I followed your orders because I trusted you and because I was in love with you. I can't even count all the times I've risked my life for you!" Pit began. "I trusted you because I knew you were on the side of justice and...and light! But something is blocking that light now. This isn't the real you! The goddess of light has turned dark. Skyworld is destroyed! Everything is wrong, and it's up to me to make things right!"

"Geez, did you have that written down or something?" Phosphora snarked.

"Butt out Phosphora!" Pit snapped.

"Oh, Pit. You never change, do you? You're just as naive as ever," Palutena replied, almost sounding sad.

"I'm not naive!" Pit snapped. "Zoey, back me up here!"

"Dad...I've tried before. A speech won't bring her back," Zoey revealed as Mike placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't get me wrong. I appreciate how easy that's made things for me. But you have to understand, the past is gone," Palutena continued. Pit looked back at his daughter, then at the ruined temple of his wife and goddess before sighing.

"Fine. If that's the way you really feel, I guess I have no choice. As the captain of your guard, it's my duty to save you from what you've become. And if saving you means defeating you, then I'll do what I have to do," Pit declared simply. Everyone went silent. From there, the only sounds were from the defeated enemies and the weapons used to defeat them.

"I finally get to see the hallowed grounds of Palutena's temple," Viridi noted. "Somehow, it doesn't bring me the joy I thought it would."

"It used to be so beautiful," Zoey said simply. If her heart could shatter any further, the pieces wouldn't be viewable anymore. But still, they knew they had to continue through the temple.

"So, Viridi, tell me about this Chaos Kin you mentioned earlier," Pit said, trying to build up his rage towards the being that did this to his wife. He wanted to destroy it.

"Oh, right, I almost forgot," Viridi admitted before clearing her throat. "Little is known about the Chaos Kin except for this. It takes its victims back to its nest, the Chaos Vortex, and consumes their souls."

"Well…that's creepy," Mike noted.

"It melts them down and then slowly chews away at them. Even more frightening is the Chaos Kin's ability to control the soul's owner," Viridi continued.

"Does that mean that Lady Palutena is under the Chaos Kin's control right now?" Pit asked.

"Yep," Zoey said, beating Viridi to the punch. "They filled me in on everything once I was ready to hear it."

"And as for who turned you into a ring, who would be capable of such a thing?" Viridi rhetorically asked. "You yourself admitted that Palutena's put you in some very dangerous situations."

"She must have been acting under the Chaos Kin's control. But there's no time to think about that. We have to save Lady Palutena before the Chaos Kin consumes her soul," Pit declared.

"You think it starts from her head or her feet? Big bites or tiny nibbles?" Viridi asked.

"...Really mom?" Was all Mike could say.

"That sounded like something Hades would say," Zoey said with a knowing smirk. Viridi shrieked and started gagging.

"Nice one Zoey!" Pit cheered as they headed down some stairs.

"Things get a little twisted up this way. There are multiple jail cells above- and belowground," A now recovered Viridi said.

"I'll say it's twisted! Skyworld never needed jails before!" Pit immediately said, completely missing the point.

"Snap out of it, you idealist. There's obviously a need now!" Viridi snapped.

"But—"

"It's a maze. That's what I meant when I said it's twisted. Familiarize yourself with the surrounding passages to keep from getting lost," Viridi clarified.

"Thanks mom!" Mike called out.

"Sorry I'm late! Thanks for clearing the way for me, Pitty Pat and children!" Everyone groaned, including Palutena.

"Hades!" Pit snapped for everyone.

"Oh, great. It's Mr. Personality," Viridi deadpanned.

"I just want to get this out there. The Chaos Kin doesn't work for me," Hades clarified. "It seems it built up quite the grudge being locked away in the Lunar Sanctum."

"So when we fought there, it managed to get loose," Pit realized.

"There must have been more damage then we thought," Mike noted.

"If only I'd been there at the time. Or Arlon should have explained the situation. But you know how reserved he is. Well, that's all in the past. Hades was the threat at the time. So I can't blame you for not caring about what was in there," Viridi lamented.

"But I can!" Hades chimed in, causing more groans. "Because the Chaos Kin didn't just 'get loose' on its own. You set it free. That overgrown louse is quite a handful, even for me,"

"It's your fault it got loose!" Zoey snapped. "If you hadn't attacked the Lunar Sanctum, then it wouldn't have gotten damaged enough for the Chaos Kin to escape!"

"How long was that building up for?" Mike asked, sounding excited at his girlfriend's spirit and rage. He liked it when she got like that. She was hot already, but that made her even more hot!

"I don't understand why anyone would create such a hideous monster," Pit noted as they continued through the temple.

"And who made you the final arbiter on which creatures live and which ones die?" Hades asked. "The Chaos Kin might not be as soft and cuddly as you, Pitty Pat. But you can't just wipe out every living thing that doesn't suit your liking."

"Technically, you can. Especially if you're in battle," Viridi pointed out.

"Hmm. Can't argue with that," Hades admitted.

"Just so we're clear, I'm defeating the Chaos Kin to save Lady Palutena. Not because it's really ugly!" Pit chimed in.

"Bet it would look a lot better mounted on a wall," Mike said as he pictured the Chaos Kin mounted on a wall...overlooking him and Zoey...having sex. "Gah! Can't think about that right now!"

"Think about what?" Zoey asked as they finally made it out of the temple.

"N-n-nothing!" Mike stuttered out.

"That didn't sound like nothing," Hades noted. "Is our little Mikey having some dirty thoughts?"

"SHUT UP ALREADY!" Mike snapped. He then noticed that it was really windy after nearly getting blown off the platform.

"It's a long way down," Zoey nervously noted.

"Yes, falling would certainly throw a wrench into the plan," Viridi agreed.

"So would getting tossed around by the side winds ahead. My, my, Pitty Pat. Palutena must hate you and your daughter even more than I do!" Hades marveled in his normal trolling manner.

"This isn't her doing!" Pit insisted.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Palutena immediately chimed in.

"What is this, Everyone Pick On Pit Day?" Pit snarky asked. "I don't want to hear anything you have to say, you fake. And I'm NOT going to let a little wind stop me!"

"If it means anything, I wasn't picking on you, dad," Zoey said. "And neither was Mike."

"Eh, he just makes it too easy so I let everyone else get the low hanging fruits," Mike replied. No one could tell who he was insulting more. The next place the heroes ended up was an Exo Tank track. Zoey got into it first.

"Looks like someone left a tiny trike behind!" Hades mocked.

"It's not a trike!" Pit angrily snapped. "It's an EXO TANK!"

"You really have to learn how to tune him out," Viridi said.

"I try! He's just so annoying!" Pit replied.

"It is really hard, mom," Mike agreed.

"I wish we were allowed to bring headphones on the job," Zoey noted. "They make tuning people out so easy."

"Anyway, just drive that Exo Tank right through enemies!" Viridi ordered. Zoey nodded and used the tank to easily drive over the enemies or blasted them. Once they were all defeated, a new path appeared.

"Hey, how come certain paths just appear after we defeat enemies?" Mike asked. "Like, if it was a gate or something, I'd get it, but just appearing? That doesn't make sense."

"Don't you know how video games work?" Viridi asked. "Defeating enemies allows the player to move on!"

"But this isn't a game, it's a fanfiction," Pit pointed out. Everyone went silent for a while after that.

"All right! It's finally time to save Palutena!" Viridi declared as Pit, Mike and Zoey closed in on her.

"'Save Palutena'?" Hades mockingly questioned. "Don't you mean 'crush Palutena'?"

"Go home Hades. Just go home."

"Did you just-?!"

"Of course it had to be here," Zoey grumbled. They were in front of the main temple. Palutena's statue still looked impressive, unlike everything else. Palutena staggered out, shield and staff in hand. In spite of being nearly untouchable, she looked as though she had been fighting for years.

"So you're here to fight me?" She asked.

"No…" Pit trailed off. He and Zoey shared a look and nodded before striking determined poses. "No! We're here to save you!"

"The Chaos Kin is close by. I can feel it. You have to locate and destroy it. However, be sure not to hurt Palutena," Viridi warned before anyone could attack.

"But I thought the Chaos Kin was, like, camping out in her brain or something," Pit admitted.

"So we're stuck dodging until we spot this thing? Great…" Mike grumbled.

"It's time for a sacrifice!" Palutena called out as she fired pillars of lasers towards the group, completely proving MIke's point.

"Up there!" Zoey cried as she pointed to a purple aura hovering above Palutena.

"Nah, you don't need to look up there!" Hades chimed in, only to be completely ignored. A few strikes caused the Chaos Kin to appear and fall to the ground.

"Let's squish this bug!" Mike called out as he began an assault on the bug, followed by Pit and Zoey. The Chaos Kin managed to get away from them and began clinging to Palutena.

"That's low, you coward!" Pit snapped.

"Calm down. Just wait for your chance!" Viridi assured them. Sure enough, after a few seconds, the Chaos Kin let go. "Now's your chance! Attack!" This time, the onslaught didn't leave any room for the Chaos Kin to escape.

"We did it!" Zoey cheered. Palutena then collapsed to the ground. "MOM!" She and Pit rushed over to her.

"Pit...Zoey…" Palutena managed out.

"Are you alright?! We didn't mean to hurt you," Pit continued. Palutena just groaned.

"Pit! Zoey! Behind you!" Viridi yelled out. Everyone turned around to see the Chaos Kin charging straight for Palutena.

"WATCH OUT!" Mike yelled as she shoved the fallen goddess out of the way. The Chaos Kin ripped Mike's soul out of his body, turning him into stone.

"MIKE!" Everyone exclaimed.

"It's heading into the Chaos Vortex!" Viridi cried as the Chaos Kin opened up a rift in the sky and flew inside. Zoey was already rushing after it, but by the time she reached the portal, it was too small for her to fight through.

"NO!" She exclaimed.

"Mike!" Viridi called out. Everyone could tell she was on the edge of a panic attack. Suddenly, the Lightning Chariot appeared, with Dark Pit and Dark Zoey riding it.

"Get out of our way!" Dark Zoey snapped.

"Pittoo? Dark Zoey?" Pit questioned. The dark counterpart ignored them and rammed the chariot into the rift, widening it. Both fell to the ground roughly besides their originals.

"Don't worry. I got this," Phosphora declared. "Bring my brother back home!" With that, she rushed after the chariot.

"What the-?" Pit began to ask.

"There's no time to talk about it!" Dark Pit snapped, cutting his counterpart off. "We have to go help Mike NOW!" Pit and Zoey both nodded and rushed into the rift.

SURPRISE! Bet you didn't see this twist coming! But yeah, instead of Palutena, MIKE is the one who got his soul stolen. And now they're gonna have to save him and defeat the Chaos Kin once and for all. See you then!
