Summary: All Weiss wanted was a peaceful afternoon of studying. Was that really too much to ask?

Weiss sighed contentedly as she flipped over the next page of her textbook. For once, it was quiet in Team RWBY's dorm room, and she could study in peace. She had nothing against her beloved teammates, their rambunctiousness simply made it difficult to focus. Well, two of them at least. Blake was better at keeping quiet, but even so, there was just something refreshing about having the space all to herself today.

She wasn't fully certain where her teammates had all wandered off to. Ruby had mentioned something about Penny and a bake sale, but she had no idea where the others were. All she knew for sure was that they'd all be back in time for dinner, and she had made them promise to make sure they saved time to complete their own assignments. But for now, she was alone, and it was wonderful.

She turned a page in her notebook and jotted down some notes about an Ursa's claws and swing radius. She knew that in a fight she wouldn't have time to actually measure out the four and a half feet, but it was good to have a rough estimate of the minimum distance she should maintain to avoid a gruesome injury.

She flipped the page again and examined the diagram of the soulless creature's jaws. They were definitely much more terrifying up close to the real thing, but she had to admit that the illustrator had done a fairly good job at capturing the monster's ferocity.

Before she could write down any information about jaw strength, her peaceful afternoon was rudely interrupted by a fiery ball of gold that crashed through the window.

She stared blankly as the shattered glass rained around the room, sunlight glinting off the shards in an admittedly beautiful array of light and colors. Despite its visual aesthetic though, a glass storm had decidedly NOT been part of the plan for a relaxing afternoon of studying. Not to mention the forms and fees needed to repair the window.

Her attention drifted towards the cause of the distraction, who let out a whoop of exhilaration.

"That was awesome!" Yang ran her fingers through her hair, sending a few more splinters of glass cascading to the floor with a soft tinkling. It was then that she finally noticed her teammate in the room. "Hey, Weiss! How's the studying going?"

Weiss just blinked at her. Her studying had been going fine until the blonde hooligan had come careening through the window. But now…?

It was at this point that she decided that this really wasn't something she wanted to get caught up in at the moment. So, she turned back to her books without offering her teammate a response. She found the paragraph of text where she had left off, and resumed reading.

Yang didn't seem offended by the blatant shunning. As she dusted herself off, she tried again to strike up a conversation.

"Hey, Weiss, did you -"

"No." Weiss didn't even bother looking up from the textbook, turning the page rather than her focus.

"But you didn't let me finish my question."

Without having to look at her, Weiss could tell that her friend was pouting. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "You didn't need to finish for me to know I can't deal with this right now. So just go before I freeze you to the ceiling."

She could feel the weight of Yang's pout intensifying as she sulked past her to the door. They both knew it was an empty threat on Weiss' part, and they both also knew that Yang wasn't actually wounded by her words.

Weiss simply didn't want to deal with this right now. She'd definitely make Yang clean up the mess later though. Hopefully, before Ruby came in and made it worse. But for now, she just wanted to finish her studying and enjoy the peace of the afternoon. Even if there was a much stronger breeze in the room now.

Out in the hallway, Yang dropped her pout and exchanged it for her usual bright smile. She knew she'd have to tidy that up later, but it was so worth it. She quickened her pace to a light jog and made her down the stairs and out of the building to reconvene with her partner in crime.

When she reached the great outdoors, an exuberant Nora met her with a gleeful grin. Anyone who knew them would be terrified, even without the medieval catapult looming beside her.

"Did the catapult work? Did you go soaring majestically through the air like a flying sloth?"

Yang made a show of carefully contemplating the question. She hummed thoughtfully before letting her grin break through again and she sent her friend two thumbs up.

"That was amazing," she confirmed. "By the way, where'd you manage to find a working catapult anyway?"

Nora gave her a conspiratorial wink as she patted the side of the contraption affectionately.

"My sources must be protected…. Now come on! Let's go find some more test subjects. I think I heard a beowolf in the woods back there."

Yang readied her gauntlets with a smirk and followed her lead.

"Let's just aim away from the building next time."

See? Now Weiss can't call her totally irresponsible.

A/N

Where have I been the past months? Who the heck knows. I haven't given up on this series, I just haven't had much inspiration lately. If you'd prefer to read these individually (like, if you're looking for just a specific one or something), they're all crossposted on AO3, each as own stories, and most are in a series called RWBY Tales.

Also, you may have noticed on this one, I'm going to start leaving summaries on the new chapters of this drabble dump. Again, to make it easier for my faithful readers (or just casual readers, whatever your level of dedication is) to find the one they may be searching for.

Anywhoodles, thanks for reading! Leave a review with what you think, or with any requests you have. Can't promise I'll get to it soon, but I'll always take prompts!
