Sharon couldn't wait to get home and slip her shoes off. She'd only been back a week and this last case had drug on for nearly fourth eight hours. They didn't have time to rest because the serial killer was striking faster then they could keep up. The case was finally solved when Tao predicted the next victim. Caught red handed the killer is now behind bars.
"God it's good to be home." Andy sighed walking in behind her. "How are you feeling?"
"Tired." Sharon admitted toeing off her shoes. "But it's good to be back."
"It was good to have you back." Andy helped her pull her blazer off. "I'm happy Mason is giving us the weekend off."
"Me too. I'm going to take a shower before I go to bed." Sharon smiled turning to him. Her hand played with his tie. "Wanna join me."
"I'll wait until you're finished." He kissed her forehead and walked past her.
Andy had barely touched her since she'd gotten sick. She'd been cleared by her doctor months ago to have sex, but Andy shut her down every time she tried.
Sharon stripped down in the bathroom and threw her clothes in the laundry basket. She took a quick shower.
"The shower is ready for you." Sharon called out of the bathroom as she dried off.
"Thank you." Andy glanced at her then away.
"I'll leave you to it then." She slipped on a rob and left him alone.
She dressed in a night gown before climbing into bed. Tears of frustration and rejection stung her eyes. She rolled into her side away from where Andy would be laying.
Sharon laid wide awake. Even though she was tired, her head was still wide open.
Had Andy lost interest in her? Or was he just scared of hurting her?
Sharon had tried to have the conversation several time, but he always changed the subject.
Sharon heard Andy leave the bathroom. She heard him open a few drawers and get dressed.
She felt a hand on her shoulder. Sharon opened her eyes to find Andy knelt down beside her.
"I'm sorry." He said cupping her face with the hand that had been on her shoulder. "I wanted to take a shower with you, but I don't trust myself to keep my hands off you."
"You don't have to." Sharon felt the tears falling freely now. She set up pulling away from him and stood. "The doctor said it was safe for us to make love, but maybe you're not interested in me anymore."
"Of course I am. Did you just hear me?" Andy asked standing when she grabbed her pillow. "Where are you going?"
"To sleep in the guest room." Sharon stomped out of the room. She turned to him at the door and pointed her finger. "Don't follow me."
Sharon laid down in what used to be Rusty's bed. He moved in Gus' apartment so he could keep the lease in it while he worked in Napa. A
There she cried herself to sleep.
Sharon woke the next morning to the smell of breakfast cooking. Did he really think breakfast was going to solve everything?
Sharon went back to her own room deciding she didn't want to see him yet. She took a quick shower and dressed for the day.
She walked out of her room and down the hallway. She toed on her shoes then slipped out the door.
Sharon walked aimlessly down the street. She needed space and time to think.
Sharon thought about her and Andy's relationship. How something was always coming between them. She thought about her heart and the transplant. How her kids had begged her to get the transplant.
Sharon was broken from her her thoughts when her phone buzzed.
ANDY
"Hello?" Sharon answered annoyed.
"Are you okay?" He tried to hide the worry in his voice but it was there. "That's all I need to know."
"Yes." Sharon sighed. "I just needed space."
"Okay." His worried voice grew. "I love you and I'm ready to listen when you come back."
"I love you too." She wanted him to know that. "Loving you isn't the problem."
"I know." He sounded defeated. "I'm going to go to a meeting. How about lunch?"
"Okay." Sharon nodded. "I'll text you the place."
"See you then." Andy hung up.
Sharon texted him the place and time.
Sharon looked around not realizing how far she'd walked. The neighbor hood was the same one Andy had looked into buying a house in. She'd recognized the house where they had found a dead body. It was still up for sell. A few houses down was another house. The realtor was placing the for sale sign in the yard as Sharon was walking by.
"Nice house." Sharon commented walking up to her.
"It is." The realities sighed. "Sad story. The wife lost her husband in a car accident. She can't keep up with the up keep on the house and the one she inherited from parents years ago so she's moving there. She's only asking pay off for it. Won't be in the market long."
"Can I look inside?" Sharon asked.
"Sure." The realtor smiled.
Sharon knew Andy would be angry. She'd gotten so wrapped up in looking at the house that she'd missed their lunch date, but just wait until he saw what she'd been up to.
Sharon walked back into the condo late that afternoon. Andy was in the kitchen cooking dinner.
"Something smells good." Sharon slowly walked into the kitchen trying to assess his mood.
"I thought after a nice dinner we could talk." He shrugged keeping his back to her. His shoulders were slumped and his voice sad.
"I'm sorry about lunch." Sharon walked closer to him and placed a hand in his back. "I should have at least sent you a text."
"It's fine." He shrugged again stirring the pasta in the pot. "I figure I know where this is all going."
"And where is that?" Sharon asked pulling her hand from his back.
"I figure I've screwed up yet another relationship," He turned the pasta off and turned to her with tears in his eyes. "And you need space which leads to separation. That leads to divorce."
"No," Sharon shook her head and wrapped her arms around his middle. His arms wrapped around her so tight as if he were holding on for dear life. "I just needed a minute to clear my head. I don't want space as in you and I living apart. I love you just as much if not more then when I said I do."
"Really?" He looked at her in complete shock.
"Yes, really." She smiled. Her face smiled as she snuggled closer against his chest. "I'm not giving you up that easy. Look how long it took us to get here and all the hell we've been though."
"I'm so glad to hear you say that." He kissed the top of her head. "I heard you crying last night in the guest room and I knew I screwed up."
"How'd you hear me?" Sharon looked up at him. Her eyes widened. "The walls aren't that thin I hope."
"No," Andy laughed. "That would have made for some awkward mornings."
"Yes," Sharon nodded. "It would have, on both parts."
"I set outside the door until I knew you were asleep." He cupped her face. "I hate that I made you feel that way. I just don't want to do anything to jeopardize your health."
"The doctor said we could do anything I'm comfortable with." She reminded him. "What if we start slow?"
"Okay," Andy nodded. "I can do that."
Andy bent down and captured her lips with his. The kiss was slow and longing. Sharon wrapped her arms tightly around his middle tighter. His hand in her cheek dove into her hair massaging her scalp.
Sharon felt light headed in a good way. Like this was their first kiss. A moan slipped out of her throat into his mouth causing him to break the kiss.
"I missed that." He nuzzled her nose with his.
"Me too." Sharon released her hold on him. "I'll go set the table."
"Dinner will be read in just a few minutes." He kissed her nose.
Sharon was setting the table in her own little world when she remembered she had exciting news. The making up had pushed the thoughts of the house out of her head completely until now.
"Oh, Andy." She said excitedly. Her face grinning from ear to ear. She set everything down and returned to the kitchen. "I just remembered I have something to tell you."
"What has you so worked up?" He smiled at her joy.
"I did something today," she bit her lip. She'd just realized this whole house thing might back fire on her. "Don't get mad at me until you see it."
"See what?" Andy asked setting their plates down in the counter.
"You know how we were looking for a house, but then we put it off because of your heart attack?" Sharon pulled her phone out. "Then when you were better I needed a transplant?"
"Yes." Andy nodded as if saying "get to the point.".
"Well," Sharon held her phone out to him. "I found the perfect house. They just put the for sale sign in the yard and was about to put it on the market, but I convinced the realtor to give me the weekend to decide if I wanted it. I want it."
Andy flipped through the pictures. It had a swimming pool, large back porch, big back yard, three bedrooms, three baths, big kitchen, large dinning room, and a fence around the whole property.
"It's everything we wanted." Andy nodded.
"I have the keys," Sharon pulled them from her pocket. "And we can go look at it anytime."
"How did you manage that?" Andy smiled.
"I offered a little more then what the owner was asking." Sharon shrugged. "But it's still a steal. So what do you think?"
"I think we should get it." Andy returned her smile. "Call her and tell her we'll take it."
"But you haven't seen it." Sharon frowned.
"It makes you happy." He pulled her to him. "I don't need to see it."
"I want it to be ours." She shook her head. "Not just mine. Not just because it's what I want."
"I can see by the pictures that it's perfect for us." He ran his hands down her back and let them settle on her hips. "After dinner we can go look at it in person."
"Thank you." Sharon kissed his cheek. "Let's eat."
