Chapter 27
A Whale of a Fight

After discovering the new Dragon Hourglass, Arthur and his party teleported to the capital of Melromarc immediately to tell the queen. After that, she organized a small fleet to help combat against the new Wave over Cal Mira. Motoyasu looks out on the bow of the ship, looking like a brave man with the remaining girls at his back. Itsuki is chatting with his party, trying to organize a strategy for the fight. Yet he does have something to tell Risha about what she has to do after the battle. Ren stands tall and defiant against the incoming threat. Mirellia is leading this defensive and coordinates with the fleet with Arthur's party.

Mirellia says to Arthur, "I don't know how, but we made it."

Arthur is in a foul mood, "Yeah."

Nephalem speaks, "Cheer up, my man. We still have a whole day to celebrate your birthday. Just kill the boss and the Wave will dissipate in a few minutes. Plus, you're probably not the only one that has a birthday today that the Wave is happening. Odds are slim, but still."

Arthur takes a deep sigh, "I suppose you're right."

"Oh don't be so sour." Melty tries to cheer him up, "At least you'll be granted a reward for your troubles and a birthday gift."

"Although I do know what it will be."

Gwen pats Arthur on the back, "Now, now. There might be some sprinkles to your cake."

Filo jumps up, "Yay! Cake!"

"I was speaking metaphorically." Gwen stated to Filo. "What I mean is a few extra presents."

"Foo!" now Filo is unhappy.

Raphtalia tries to cheer up Filo, "But not to worry. There will be cake."

"Promise?"

Arthur smirks and rub Filo's head, "Yeah. We promise. But I have to blow out the candles first before we eat it."

Filo raises her arms in the air and is happy again, "Woo-hoo!"

Raphtalia then asks Mirellia, "Do you think that the people of Cal Mira will be able to evacuate the island on time?"

Mirellia assures her, "The Earl of Habenburg acted quickly. He's already finished evacuating all of the islanders. Besides, thanks to Arthur's farsight powers, we know that the Wave will be happening at sea. Right now, all you need to worry about is the battle."

Arthur gives the thumbs-up, "You got it." He looked out at sea, "Although, I am surprise that they are working together rather than letting their egos get in the way."

"It may have something to do with what you told us."

Arthur shrugs, "Guess so. Just hope that their party will get along too."

Raphtalia is looking at starboard side, "Arthur, look!"

All members of Arthur's party look at a boat that has L'Arc and Therese.

"It's L'Arc and Therese!"

"Figures."

Melty goes, "Oh yeah, aren't they the ones who are gonna-"

"That's enough." Arthur says, "Let's focus on the incoming Wave for now. Once the Inter-Dimensional Whale is defeated, we're gonna have to deal with them later."

As they travel a bit further out to sea, the Dragon Hourglass in the temple in the depths count down to the last seconds. Before long, the Wave is about to initiate as the Hourglass dong with the last grain of sand hit the bottom. All the ships above started to glow gold as they are about to begin to teleport.

"It will begin when we teleport." Mirellia states, "Everyone! Prepare for battle!"

All the ships teleported to where the battle takes place. The location is at sea, yet the skies above are red with multi-colored swirls as all sorts of aquatic monsters start coming out. The crews started to dump barrels of lucar fruit into the sea to get the monsters intoxicated that are then exploded by magic to get the fruit touch the water. Some of the monsters have rise to the surface in a drunken state and then finished off by the archers on the boats.

Itsuki on his ship orders, "Don't let up! Keep firing at them!"

Yet Rishia notices something approaching, "Sir Itsuki!"

They see something big heading towards the boats.

Arthur looked and realize, "That's not the Inter-Dimensional Whale?!"

What actually is coming at them is an immensely huge creature with a reptilian head in a shape of a marine iguana yet has a large horn similar to a narwhal whale, scales glisten as green and silver shields, two sets of eyes that glow yellow. When it opens its mouth, three rows of teeth like a shark yet more jagged as the aquatic monsters get swallow whole before it gulps them down. It raises its left webbed hand with five sharp talons as its about to attack.

Motoyasu freaks out, "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!"

Arthur is freaking out as well, "ITS A KAIJU! ITS A MOTHERFUCKING KAIJU! WHAT THE HELL!? WE'RE SUPPOSED TO FIGHT A GIGANTIC WHALE, NOT A MONSTER FROM A GODZILLA MOVIE!"

Itsuki immediately fires a shot at the creature's hand, "Meteor shot!"

The shot did it, but it all it did was annoyed it as it angrily glares at Itsuki. So it jumped up into the air, showing its massive body that is 90 meters by 130 meters (not including the horn) as it aimed its horn down at Itsuki's ship and slams right into it. Itsuki's boat was tear a sunder as he and his party are scattered along with the debris. Gwen swings in with her webs and try to help as many as she can to get onto the other ships.

"Filo!" Arthur springs into action with Filo in her Filolial form.

"Right!"

Filo jumps off the ship with Arthur on her back while he has a barrel on his back. They chase after the new monster with Arthur having a green aura around him to allow him to breath underwater. From under water, Arthur gets a clearer view of it as he can see jagged fins or spikes on its back yet the end of the tail is similar to a shark's tail.

'This wasn't supposed to happen!' Arthur thinks to himself, 'There was supposed to be a whale, not a kaiju! Just where the hell did this thing come from?!' He look at his Geiger counter, 'At least its not from my world. If it was, there would be a lot of radiation.' He then looks at the barrel, 'Just hope one barrel is good enough to slow that thing down.' Then Arthur uses his skill, "|Hate Reaction|!"

Two red pulses are emitted and touched the creature. The creature then emits a red aura and looks back at Arthur. It turns around and goes after him and Filo.

'Guess magic still works.'

Filo swims up to the surface as Arthur prepares to throw the barrel at the thing's mouth. They breached the surface as the creature follows.

Arthur throws the barrel, "Take this, you ugly excuse of Godzilla!" and it went down its throat.

Mirellia orders, "This is it! Time to attack!"

Itsuki fires from a barrel he is riding on, "Meteor shot!" before Gwen swings by and takes him to another ship.

Followed by Motoyasu, "Meteor thrust!"

Then Ren, "Meteor slash!"

They hit but cause not damage as all three just bounce off its scales. It falls down and splashes to cause a tidal wave that nearly destroyed the ships. It aimed its horn at one of the ships and rams right through. Mirellia watch in horror as the ship and its crew were hit.

"Ah shit!" Arthur says as Filo is flying in the air, "Please don't tell me I have to kill it from the inside."

Raphtalia enchanted a harpoon and fires it. Instead of piercing its scales, she aimed right at its left eye. Causing it to scream out in pain.

"Guess that'll work."

But then Arthur remembers something. He remembers the second episode of Knight's & Magic where the main character, Ernesti Echavalier, killed the Behemoth by jamming the sword through the monster's eye while channeling electricity, destroying the brain.

"That might actually work. But I need to get the harpoon in deeper." He looks around for his options. At that moment, he has an idea.

Motoyasu, Ren and Itsuki can try to use some sort of push spell or ability to jam it in deeper while Arthur comes in with something made of metal so he can use the same strategy. Plus with the lucor fruit it ate, it might make it drowsy enough for it to stand still for the others to aim.

"Bingo!"

The soldier says to the others, "Don't worry about the big one! Let the heroes take care of it! Focus on the little guys!"

The soldiers continue to throw barrels off the ships and fire arrows at the monsters rising to the surface in a drunken stupor. But the kaiju nearly hit the ship and cause everyone to loose their balance. Then the smaller monsters started to come aboard.

"Hurry up and kill these things!"

One of the crew mates runs away, "No way! There's too many of them!" then followed by other crew members fleeing for their lives.

Melty then casts a spell, "As source of my power, I order thee. Decipher the laws of nature and thrash my targets with a flood of water! Zweit aqua shot!" She fires a torrent of water at the creatures, causing them to be blasted away. She checks on them. "You're okay, right?!"

One wet crew mate says, "Yeah. We're fine."

But one monster managed to get aboard and grabs Melty. She screams so loud that Arthur heard her. So Arthur throws a needle to the direction where Melty is grabbed and it hit the monster right through its head.

"That takes care of that problem."

But three more started to show up. That is when L'Arc springs into action and beheaded the three.

Melty says to L'Arc, "You saved me from the other three monsters."

L'Arc smiles, "Just sit tight here, will ya?"

A bunch more jumped up and try to attack L'Arc.

But L'Arc attacks with, "Scarbound wheel swing!" and cause a tornado to appear that rips through the monsters.

Melty is amazed, but is worried. Arthur did tell her, the queen, and the other heroes about L'Arc and what he's about to do.

One crew member says, "Alright! Now's our chance!"

The soldiers and crew cheer.

Melty feigns innocence as she talks to L'Arc, "I can't believe how powerful you are. Arthur is right about you."

L'Arc's smile fades and looks away.

Arthur orders, "NOW!" as the creature rise and the harpoon has a chain on it.

"Wind shot!"

"Force thrust!"

"Piercing blow!"

Three force/wind attacks are aimed at the harpoon that jam it further into its eye socket.

Arthur jumps up in the air and off of Filo's back, "|Thunder Shock|!"

Yellow electricity envelops around Arthur's body that travels through the chain. The kaiju gets electrocuted from the inside out as it course through the socket all the way to the brain, causing the stem and nervous system to go into overload. The creature is now nothing but a floating corpse with blood flowing out of its eye sockets, ears and mouth.

Mirellia is amazed, "I never seen such tactics that can bring down such a leviathan."

The heroes made it to the corpse of the monster with L'Arc and Therese on it.

"That was close." Arthur says as he flies down on Filo's back.

L'Arc turns and face Arthur, "Well, looked like you had one hell of a plan, kiddo. One hell of a plan."

Motoyasu shouts, "HEY! WE DID IT! That was one hell of a plan you came up with."

Ren asks Arthur, "Where did you learn something like that?"

Arthur replies, "I learned it from an Isekai anime I watched a long time ago. It involved giant robots and a twelve-year-old protagonist taking down a giant tortoise monster that can crush castles."

Itsuki is shocked about that, "Seriously?! You got the idea from an anime!?"

Motoyasu says, "That aside, I think you should get the best drops since it was you who came up with the plan and it is your birthday."

L'Arc is smiling but not a happy smile, "Well I have to admit, you so-called heroes maybe weak alone. But together, you may be a quadruple threat."

The other heroes have their weapons out and prepare to fight against L'Arc and Therese. Raphtalia shows up and prepares to draw her sword as Gwen jumps in with both guns aimed at them. Filo gets angry and is ready to fight.

L'Arc chuckles, "Guess you know about what I'm supposed to do. Do you, Arthur? That foresight ability is really handy and quite the pain." L'Arc readies his scythe, "Then you must know what the two of us have to do. For the sake of our world, you gotta die."

Arthur smirks, "Oh?"

"Huh?" L'Arc is confused.

"Then tell me this; did you know that if a single hero dies, the destruction of all worlds get accelerated? And I mean ALL worlds. Including yours."

"What?!"

Therese asks, "What do you mean?"

"What I mean is that if a single hero die, the destruction cause by the Waves of Calamity get greater and greater for each hero's death. The purpose of the Waves is to have the magical energy of each world get drained and taken by the Goddess of Destruction. The items we wield," he points at his shield, "are like barriers that keep the Waves in check. Destroy one, then the acceleration will commence and spell doom for every single world being attacked by these Waves."

L'Arc isn't buying it, "That's one hell of a story, kiddo, but-"

"IT IS TRUE!" Nephalem speaks. So loudly that it nearly scared everyone.

"What was that?!" L'Arc steps back.

"Did that come from...his shield?" Therese then senses something from her jewels, "My gems...they're trembling. Full of fright."

Every weapon given to the heroes started to shake. Raphtalia's 'flight or fight' instincts kicked in because she senses Nephalem's growing power. Filo is also giving the same response. Every monster in the area felt an overwhelming fear and try to swim away.

"Listen well, mortals! I was once a god that maintained the balance of all things! Life! Death! Order and destruction! But then she came and killed not only me, but my fellow deities as well. She may have destroyed my body, but my spirit lives on in this boy's shield! That bitch is now destroying the immaculate balance I have created and poise to gain more power." The green gemstone on Arthur's shield emits a golden flame as it turns purple that burns with an intense hatred, "She's the one you should be fighting! Pieces of her soul are scattered across all of those worlds to hinder your progress! DON'T YOU SEE!? YOU'VE BEEN MADE FOOLS OF!"

Arthur is freaking out, "Nephalem! Calm down!"

"Oh I am absolutely fucking LIVID!"

L'Arc tries to move but he can't. "The hell?"

"Okay, this isn't funny anymore!" Motoyasu can't move.

"I can't move either!" Ren tries to move, but is paralyzed in place.

Itsuki is trying to get a shot at L'Arc but is unable to, "I can't fire a shot!"

"The reason why is because those weapons were made by us gods! When we say: 'You're not allowed to attack each other', you cannot attack each other!"

Nephalem's hatred for Medea is so great that it is causing ripples in the water and causing the soldiers to freeze up.

"I can't move!" says one of the soldiers holding a bow.

"How can we attack if we can't fire!?"

L'Arc says, "Therese! Cast some magic! Hurry!"

Therese is unable to move and is unable to speak.

"You've got to be kidding me!"

"As long as I'm fucking here, all of you cannot harm each other! I WILL NOT ALLOW IT JUST SO MORE WORLDS WILL FALL INTO DARKNESS!"

Arthur looks at his HUD and sees the paralyzing effect and the timer is completely glitchy. Not only that, all of his abilities are now locked.

Back on the ships, one soldier managed to fire at a monster.

"Hey! I killed one of the monsters!"

Mirellia orders, "Focus your attention on the remaining monsters and rescue anyone that needs aid!"

"YES, MA'AM!"

Melty then had an idea. She get on a boat where Rishia was put on and jumps in.

Rishia falls down, "Princess Melty!"

Melty orders, "Take this boat over to Arthur, now! And bring in any casket bombs that are still out there!"

"Huh? But I just got here!"

"Just shut up and do it!"

Rishia starts whining.

Back on the kaiju, everyone is still frozen.

"Dammit!" L'Arc swears, "What will it take to get out of this!?"

"Simple: Listen and accept the truth. That is all I'm asking."

"What if I refuse?!"

"Then everyone lose and she wins! Do you even care about your world!?"

"I do! But..." L'Arc tries to process this new information.

Then a woman's voice is heard, "I think that's enough."

A blue laser is shot from one of the swirls and hits one of the ships. But it turns out to be Glass as she lands on the ship. Then the same blue light shines as she teleports towards where all the heroes are at.

Arthur goes, "About time you showed up."

"Hey there, Glassy. What 're you doing here?"

Glass responds, "I got tired of waiting."

Melty asks, "Is that Glass? The sight of her makes me shiver."

"You got that right." Gwen says.

Motoyasu says, "Oh great. Not her again."

Itsuki backs away, "I think we should leave this to Arthur. We'll just get in the way."

"I agree." Ren actually agrees with Itsuki.

"It has been a while." Glass says to Arthur.

"I'm guessing you heard everything." Arthur says.

"Indeed. But I highly doubt what you have there is an actual-" Glass' voice is muted and is unable to move. 'What the-?! Is this Arthur's doing?'

A golden flaming arm comes out of Arthur's shield along with another. Nephalem, in his spirit form, reveals himself and looks down at Glass. Glass is filled with a terrible dread as Nephalem stands eighteen feet tall. His gaze is sending overwhelming fear to all that see him. The monsters instantly die as Nephalem appear. Everyone else is frozen in place as they see this golden flaming figure with black and white wings and purple eyes. Ren and Itsuki recognize this figure as they have seen him before, during the fight between Motoyasu and Arthur after the first Wave. Rishia passes out with foam in her mouth on the boat. Motoyasu actually wet himself when he sees Nephalem. Filo just passed out while standing with her eyes open. Everyone behind Arthur are paralyzed with fear and chilled to the bone. Same with Glass, L'Arc and Therese.

"Now then." Nephalem says with a booming voice, "Let's have a talk."
