Chapter 27-Something.
School had ended but, for James and Lily they still had a lot of work to do as they were planning their wedding, they decided that they wanted to have their wedding as soon as possible. They decided to have their wedding at Potter Manor as it was a big enough place to have all their friends and wouldn't draw any attention from Voldemort and his death eaters. Even though no one had been living in Potter Manor since James's parents died but the house elves were still keeping it in good standing. James and Lily had decided that they were going to move back into Potter Manor and Sirius, Remus, and Peter were going to stay in the house at Godric's Hallow.
It was the day before James and Lily were going to be married so they both had nights out with their friends. James was with the boys tonight enjoying their last night together as mates before James was getting married. They were all in their Godric's Hallow house when Sirius came back with a motorcycle and started taking rides with Sirius on the motorcycle the most interesting story came when Sirius and James were being chased by the muggle police and death eaters at the same time. James made Sirius promise to never tell Lily about what had happened that night as Lily would be absolutely livid with James if she ever found out. James and the rest of the marauders ended the night by getting some butterbeer.
"To our last night as bachelor's." Sirius said as he toasted.
"To James and Lily!" Remus did his next.
"To Marriage!" James said last.
After they had finished their butterbeers they had decided that they should go to bed as they would have to have an early morning.
Lily was with Mary and Marlene and unlike James they had a much more uneventful night as they didn't want to do something too crazy. Their night mostly consisted of the girls taking about the past and what the future all held for them. They also talked about the wedding the next day and how perfect it was going to be. They decided to go to bed very early as they would need to get up early to get Lily perfect for her wedding.
It was the day of the wedding and James's nerves were through the roof he had dreamed of this day for 2 years he had finally convinced Lily to marry him his fifth-year self couldn't believe it that he was going to finally marry the girl of his dreams. James was just hoping that Lily wouldn't change her mind at the last moment and decide that she didn't want to marry James. Lily was also very nervous about the wedding she wasn't worried that James would run out but, she was nervous about her screwing up something during the wedding ceremony and that James wouldn't want her anymore.
It was finally the time of the wedding they had invited the whole order of the phoenix with Sirius being best man and Remus, and Peter were groomsmen while Mary and Marlene were bridesmaids. They had Dumbledore officiate the wedding. They were also holding a reception after the wedding. It was kind of sad for both Lily and James as they both didn't have their parents there but, they both knew that their parents were with them in spirit and in their hearts.
"Welcome all to the wedding of James Potter to Lily Evans I have seen them grow up from enemies to friends and finally to lovers. Now I believe you two have prepared your vows." Dumbledore said.
"Lily, I have loved you since we were in fifth year, I know that I was a prat in fifth year but, that was the only way I felt like I could get your attention. I am so grateful that you gave me another shot and I promise that I will never let you go." James said with tears starting in his eyes.
"James, I really thought that you were an arrogant toerag in fifth year but, these past two years you have shown me that you are so much more than that. You are a kind, loving, and caring person and I can not think of a better person to live the rest of my life." Lily said.
"Do you James Potter take Lily Evans to be your wife?" Dumbledore asked.
"I do." James said.
"And do you Lily Evans take James Potter to be your Husband?" Dumbledore asked to Lily.
"I do." Lily responded.
"By the power invested in me I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Potter you may now kiss the bride." Dumbledore said.
With that James and Lily kissed and walked down the aisle now as Mr. and Mrs. Potter. The reception was next they all had such a good time and James, and Lily couldn't be any happier than they were at this moment. It was a nice break from the war playing newlywed games and just relaxing and not worrying so much about the war. It was finally time for the first dance and then the floor would be open for everyone Lily had decided that she wanted the first song something that James had sung because she always loved James's voice, so he pre-recorded a song for their first dance.
Something in the way she moves attracts me like no other lover. Something in the way she woos me. I don't want to leave her now you know I believe in how. Somewhere in her smile she knows that I don't need no other lover something in her style that shows me. I don't want to leave her now you know I believe and how. You're asking me will my love grow I don't know I don't know you stick around now it may show I don't know I don't know. Something in the way she knows and all I have to do is think of her something in the things she shows. I don't leave her now you know I believe and how.
"James that was so beautiful." Lily said as they walked back to their seats.
"Anything for you Lily." James said as he smiled down at her.
The night was slowly winding down as the guests started to leave Sirius was absolutely wasted by this time and Peter and Remus took him home so it was finally just James and Lily settling down into their new home as husband and wife for their first night together.
