It been almost a month since Emily was kidnapped and she was finally allowed to leave the Healer's Center and her parents let her outside as long as she was with her friends. I mean, who would fuck with the Princess of Vampires and the Heir to the Lucifer Estate.

"You know, we should probably should get to school." Heather said.

"Who are you and what have you done with Heather?" Tracey asked.

"I'm just saying, it's almost noon and we're just sitting in a tree."

"First of all, I'm the only one sitting." Emily said, "Heather, you're standing on the trunk and Tracey, you are in your demon form, using your tail to wrap around the branch."

Tracey tightened her tail's grip on the branch and hung upside down. She looked at Emily and a forked tongue slipped out of her mouth for a brief second.

"Someone's just jealous that they can't do things like walk on walls or survive through dangerous situations."

Emily made her classic orange spell circle and the branch Tracey was wrapped around disappeared. She fell from the tree and, a few seconds later, Tracey used her massive wings to fly back up.

"You're a bitch." Tracey said.

Emily blew a kiss towards Tracey and gave her a small wave.

"Love you too, Trace." Emily said in a mocking tone.

Tracey growled at her and wrapped her tail around the trunk of the tree.

"Do you have any idea how hard it is to fly with this thing?" Tracey asked, motioning to her tail, "This thing alone adds almost a thousand pounds to my weight and I'm not even fully grown, yet!"

"Wow, Tracey, I didn't know you gained that much weight. You should really go on a diet, maybe try some exercise."

"Maybe stop eating corpses." Heahter said.

They laughed until Tracey raised a hand and used her massive claws to, effortlessly, cut off a thick branch. Before it could fall, she grabbed it and made it obvious that she was more than willing to hit them with it if they don't stop laughing.

"Okay, point taken. You can drop that." Emily said.

Tracey let go of it and it crushed a bench below them. The trio looked at the crushed bench.

"And that's why we didn't sit on the bench." Heather said.

At Hexside, Amity was polishing her new "Top Student" Badge. She's only been there for a little over a month, but she's shown more knowledge than most the students in the Abomination Track, well, except one student.

"Hey, Amity!" Luz said, "How are you doing in class?"

There was the one.

"It's going pretty good." Amity said, "Hey, Luz, you know how you said that fire has a different color if you are better with it. Is there anything else that can change its color?"

"Well, I noticed that, sometimes when I feel a strong emotion, my fire can be a different shade. Why do you ask?"

"I just wanted to find a way to change my fire color. It doesn't go with my Track color."

Before Luz could respond, the Principal Bump's voice came over the loud speaker.

"Good afternoon, students. I am delighted to bestow this year's highest honor to... Luz Clawthorne. Our Grom Queen."

Luz stood there for a second, before sprinting away. Amity tried to keep up with her, but Luz knew this place better than she did, so she managed to lose Amity pretty quickly. By the time Amity found her, almost an hour has passed. She walked to the gym bleacher's and sat next to Luz.

"Luz, what's wrong?"

"Amity, you don't understand what Grom is."

"Isn't it just some dance?"

"No, it's not." Luz said, "You Human's don't understand how bad this is for me."

Amity flinched at the mean tone Luz had. It hurt her heart being talked to like that by her crush.

"O-oh, okay. I'll... I'll just go." Amity said.

Amity got up and felt her wrist get grabbed.

"Wait." Luz said, "I'm sorry. It's just... this isn't some dance. I have to fight against a monster that can read minds and shapeshift into my worst fear."

To say that Amity was confused was... an understatement.

"What?"

"Under the floor, is a creature that tries to break out every year and someone has to prevent it from breaking out and destroying the Isles." Luz said, "I don't think I'm brave enough to fight my fear."

Amity grabbed Luz's hand.

"Well, what if I take your place?"

Luz stared at Amity.

"What?"

"Luz, you've done so much for me, it's only fair that I do something for you." Amity said, "Luz, I'll be your fearless champion!"

Amity jumped into Luz's arms when a spider walked onto her boots.

Okay, so, I want to make a small challenge for authors to do. If you're interested, put it in the review and I'll explain in the next chapter. Follow, Favorite, and Review for more.
