One of my faves because it has so many cute relationships - hope you like it!

"Jay's searching for his favorite shirt," Piper said, poking her head into Erin and Jay's bedroom, "I told him it was probably in the laundry so he's searching in there, but I think you packed it for him."

"I did," Erin said sheepishly as she looked up from rifling through her dresser drawer, "It's in the suitcase under the bed if you want to grab it so he doesn't suspect anything?"

With some help, her and Piper's plan to get Jay out of Chicago for a night or two was in motion. He had absolutely no idea but was baffled as to why he couldn't locate a particular black shirt that he was partial to.

Piper nodded and crouched down to pull out the suitcase. "He has no idea you're taking him away this weekend," she said excitedly, "He's going to be so surprised."

Erin grinned. "Are you sure you're okay with this?" she asked, closing the dresser drawer, "Because if you feel uncomfortable at all, you can tell me and we can-"

"I'm okay," Piper promised, unzipping the suitcase before flashing a grin to her sister. "Really. You guys will be back on Sunday, right?"

"Right," Erin confirmed, taking a heavy seat on the bed. She rested her hands on her growing belly. At sixteen weeks pregnant with twins, every part of her was starting to ache and swell. She felt like had a new center of gravity every few minutes and was feeling incredibly large. "I'm going to pick up Jay from work in a few hours, and then Hailey's going to grab you from school and take you out for a fun evening, and then Will's going to meet you guys back here for you to spend the night."

Coordinating with the many people who loved and cared about Jay wasn't a challenge in the slightest. Will had been beyond excited to be trusted with Piper for the weekend, and Hailey was more than happy to help. Will had big plans for a full Saturday of fun with Piper and because he was on shift for Sunday, Hank had offered to take the little girl for the day before Erin and Jay returned home that afternoon. He was in agreement that his detective needed a weekend away.

"And we'll have our phones the whole time, so you can text or call either one of us," Erin promised, "And it's only a few hours drive away, and I drive fast so we can get to you in record time if you need us."

Piper smiled. "That's good," she said, "But I'm going to be okay. I promise." She reached into the bag and produced the black v-neck Jay was looking for. "I found the shirt." Piper glanced into the bag before looking up at her big sister curiously. "What is that?"

Erin paled when she looked into the bag. She'd forgotten that she'd purchased something with Jay in mind that she knew he would enjoy, especially seeing that they'd be miles away from the observant eyes and ears of their little girl.

"A bathing suit," she managed, lying through her teeth, "There uh, might be a pool there."

"Oh," Piper said simply, "You better pack Jay's too. He'll get sad if you go swimming without him."

Erin gave a small nod. "He's coming," she whispered, gesturing for Piper to hide the suitcase, "Quick." The little girl pushed the suitcase back under the bed and scrambled up to sit atop the covers. Erin willed the heat in her cheeks to abate when Jay came through the doorway in search of his favorite shirt. "Noodle found your shirt, babe."

"Ah!" Jay exclaimed, "Thank you Pipes. I knew you could find it." He flashed a grin, "Where was it hiding?"

"Erin's drawer," Piper replied immediately, giving her sister a knowing glance, "Because Erin likes your clothes better than hers."

Jay gave an exaggerated huff. "Well, I think she looks better in them anyway," he replied, eyes twinkling, "You almost ready for school, kiddo?"

Piper nodded. "And Erin and I have that doctor's appointment, so Hailey's picking you up from school today," he reminded her, "I made her promise that vegetables would be included. No skipping out just because it's Friday."

"I always eat my vegetables!" Piper exclaimed, giggling when Jay lifted her off the bed to toss her over his shoulder. "Erin, tell him!"

Erin chuckled, Piper's joyous laughter filling her to the brim. Her partner's relationship with her little sister always made her melt. "Noodle eats more vegetables than me," she said knowingly, "I think she can take the day off, babe."

"You tired, babe?" Erin asked after Jay buckled himself into the passenger seat when Erin picked him up from the district, "Long day?"

"I'm alright," he said, offering a smile, "Where's this new doctor?"

"Not too far," she said noncommittally, "Why don't you close your eyes for a bit?"

"You're the one carrying twins," Jay replied, shifting down in his seat. A quick nap did sound good. It had been a long few weeks between Erin being pregnant and Piper being sick. His little bug was back to her sweet self and even asked him if he would walk her to the front of the school so she could give him a proper goodbye hug. He was running late to a crime scene, but he didn't care. A big hug from his kid was everything he needed and more. "You won't hate me if I close my eyes for like five minutes?"

"Do it," Erin insisted, "I'll get us there, no worries."

Jay startled awake and nearly choked when he saw the time on the dashboard. "Where are we?" he asked, looking out the window, "How long have we been driving?"

"Few hours," she replied, "You were really out." Erin shot her partner a grin, "You needed a nap."

He dragged a hand over his face. He really had needed a nap. "But…what? Erin, we had a doctor's appointment. Did you go in without me?"

"No appointment," Erin promised, "Don't worry."

"Don't worry?" he spluttered, "Babe, this is your health we're talking about, I can't not worry-"

"There wasn't ever an appointment," she said, merging into an exit lane, "That was just an excuse to get you out of work early. Real appointment is next week."

"What?" Jay was incredibly confused as to what was happening. "You driving me out to the country to kill me or something?"

"Jay," she chuckled, "Relax, okay? We're just going away for a few days. No big deal."

"What?" he repeated, glancing into the backseat frantically, "A few days? W-what about Piper? Where's Piper?"

"This was her idea," Erin confirmed, flashing a smile, "You're not the only one with surprises up their sleeve, baby. Our little bug is an excellent secret keeper and an even better planner. She helped me with this whole thing. Your suitcase is in the back of the car, and Piper's safe with Hailey. Actually, she's probably home with Will now."

"Really?" Jay's jaw was hanging open, "She…she helped you plan this?"

"Mm-hm. I had a lot of help, in fact. Will, Hank and Hailey are in on it. We all agreed that you need some fresh air and a few good nights sleep." Erin took another turn, "You've been running yourself ragged, babe. And I know I've been a handful, so this is my way of thanking you for being so understanding."

"H-how long have we been driving?" Jay asked, glancing out the window, "Where are we going?"

"You've been out for about five hours," Erin chuckled, "Didn't even wake up when I stopped to get gas in Grand Rapids."

"Grand Rapids? We're in Michigan?" He looked out the window again, "I'm so confused."

"A five hour nap will do that to you," she quipped, "We're about to hop a ferry and then it's just you and me, babe."

"Ferry?" Jay widened his eyes, "We're taking a boat?"

"No cars on Mackinac Island," Erin replied, "Two nights in the Grand Hotel."

A grin spread across his lips. "You didn't."

"I did." Erin offered a wide smile, "Thought I'd give some truth to that little undercover story I built for you back in the day."

"Halstead, party of two," Erin said, handing the front desk attendant at the hotel her credit card after the ferry ride over. Jay was positively beside himself at how Erin had managed to pull off a weekend getaway without him realizing. "I spoke with the manager yesterday?"

"Oh yes. Welcome, Mr. and Mrs. Halstead. Right this way."

Erin grinned and grabbed Jay's hand. "C'mon, babe," she said, "I got us a room with a view."

Jay was absolutely floored.

He couldn't believe just how much both of his girls loved him. He'd honestly been thinking about taking Erin on a weekend away, but with the news that they were expecting twins and with how sick their little bug had been, it didn't feel like the right time. Erin had promised him several times over that the weekend getaway was partially Piper's idea, and that the child had been so excited to help her big sister plan. Even so, Jay was skeptical. He knew his kid and as happy he was to have some adult time with his girl, he was missing his little one.

"And Pipes was just cool with it? Us taking off for the weekend?" Jay adjusted his sport coat in the mirror of their hotel room while Erin got ready in the bathroom, "I mean, I didn't even get a hug goodbye."

"She told me she'd let you walk her into school," Erin called from the bathroom, "You literally texted me about it the second you got into the car."

"I didn't realize it was a goodbye hug," he replied, "Three days without her?"

"Don't worry, daddy, I promised Hank we'd be home early evening on Sunday. That's two nights and really just two days away from her. And it was her idea."

Jay blew out a breath. "I guess I just miss her," he said, "You said Hailey's taking her to dinner?"

"And Will's got her tonight, all day tomorrow and tomorrow night," Erin confirmed, "Before Hank picks her up Sunday morning, and by that point we'll be halfway home." She stuck her head out of the bathroom door. "Now, I love you endlessly for how much you love our kid, but let's focus you tonight, okay?"

"Me?" Jay pointed at his chest, "What? Why?"

He stopped when his girl emerged from the hotel bathroom in a very tasteful yet also very not-tasteful lingerie set. "Uh-"

"You don't like it?" Erin frowned, "Shoot. Sorry, babe, I-"

"No, no, no," he rushed out, "You look…stunning, Er. I just thought we were getting dinner." He swallowed, "And I don't know if I want everyone on the island looking at you the way I'm looking at you right now."

A coy smile played on her lips. "We are having dinner," she said, carefully padding over to him, "Room service. Fancy dinner's tomorrow night."

Jay swallowed again. "Then how come you told me to put on a suit?"

Erin bit her lip. "'cause I wanted to take it off."

"Munchkin!" Will exclaimed, opening the front door to his little brother's house to greet Piper, "Hey, kiddo. How you doing?"

"Good," Piper smiled, accepting her backpack from Hailey, "Me and Hailey had burgers and a fancy cupcake."

"What?" He grinned, "Well, I guess that bowl of ice cream sitting on the kitchen counter will have to wait til tomorrow then."

Piper's jaw dropped. "I could have dessert twice?"

"We're going to do everything Jay would never do," Will determined, "You want to dig in while I catch up with Hailey real quick?"

The little girl looked at Hailey and then at Will. "I think Jay would make an exception since you helped with Erin's surprise," Hailey assured her, "Don't worry."

A smile spread on Piper's lips. "Thank you for taking care of me today," she said, offering a hug to the detective, "I had a lot of fun."

Hailey hugged tightly. "Have fun with Will and Hank, Snipes," she said, "And if those guys give you any trouble, you have my number, right?" She grinned at Will when Piper gave a nod. "Go eat the ice cream before it melts, kiddo."

"She do okay?" Will asked as soon as Piper was out of earshot, "Erin sent me a marathon text message when they were getting gas in Grand Rapids. Apparently my little brother was absolutely zonked."

She chuckled. "She's doing great. No tears, nothing. Was just telling me about school and friends and that Erin and Jay said she could help name the babies."

"Awesome," Will exhaled, "Thanks for taking her this evening. My plan is to get her so hopped up on sugar that she just crashes."

Hailey raised her eyebrows. "Careful there. You're talking about the kid who requested a salad instead of fries with her burger because that's how Jay takes his." She grinned, "Text me if you need anything, okay?"

Will's eyes widened. "Oh my god." He shook his head, "I'll de-Jay her this weekend and will let you know if anything comes up." After waving goodbye to his brother's partner, Will locked the front door.

"Can we save the ice cream for later?" Piper asked as she shifted on her seat at the kitchen counter, "I'm super full."

"Of course. You can eat it at midnight if you want." Will wiggled his eyebrows. "Now, Jay and I may be brothers, but we're a little different." He puffed his chest out, "I am way more fun."

Piper gave a small smile that fell off her cheeks quickly. "But you're the big brother?"

Will nodded. "I am the big brother."

She wrinkled her brow. "But Erin's my big sister. So does that mean she gets to be more fun than me?"

"Oh no," Will shook his head, "See, she's your big sister, but she's also kind of like your mom, right? So when those two babies are born, you get to be the big sister. And that's how come you're the most fun."

"Oh!" Piper exclaimed, "That's smart." She offered a wide grin. "So you're gonna teach me?"

"Mm-hm." Will grinned. "Now, what's something that Jay says we shouldn't do but that probably isn't that bad? We're going to break some rules. Not the big ones, but some of the little Jay rules that he makes up. Like…no jumping on the bed?"

Piper's eyes widened. "We could jump on the bed?"

"I think we can make an exception to Jay's rules. He's not here, right?"

"That was fun," Jay mused, leaving a kiss behind Erin's ear as she stood on the balcony of their hotel room in a fluffy robe, "Did you get enough dinner?"

Erin nodded and leaned her head back against his chest. "Not enough Halstead though," she replied, pressing a kiss to his neck, "Room service is good, but yours is better."

Jay chuckled and let out a breath. "What's wrong, babe?" Erin asked, turning to face him, "Tired?"

"No, no," he promised, leading her over to the padded recliner on the balcony, "I just can't believe we're here. That you did this for me."

"For us," she replied, taking a seat and immediately reclining against him. She brought his hands to her belly, "You love us so hard, Jay. You take care of Noodle and me and these babies, and we want to take care of you too." She smiled when he kissed the top of her head. "We love you."

"I didn't realize how much I'd miss her," he said thickly, "I mean, I'm happy to be here with you but…I miss our kid, babe."

"I miss her too," Erin murmured, "But she's having a good time with her babysitters." She reached into her robe pocket and pulled out her cell. "I asked Hailey and Will to check in once Hailey dropped her off at home, but they both knew you'd want pictures." Erin showed Jay a picture of Piper that Hailey had taken of Piper giving a wide smile across the table. "Hailey said Noodle was the first kid she ever met who told the waitress she'd pick the salad over the fries."

Jay grinned. "That's my kid." He paused, "But I don't want her to think she can't have that kind of stuff."

"Don't worry," Erin promised, "Look." She swiped to another picture of Piper with frosting all over her lips from a cupcake. "She's so cute."

"The cutest." Jay swallowed the lump in his throat. "And she's been okay?"

"Will tired her out," she chuckled, "Had her playing 'the floor is lava' in the living room with the couch." Erin showed a video of Piper that Will had sent of the little girl giggling hysterically while he leapt from cushion to cushion. She changed screens to the baby monitor app on her phone to show Piper fast asleep in her bed, with Will on the floor with a blanket.

Jay exhaled. "I'm glad she's okay," he said, "I love her so much." He smiled wider when he saw the picture of him and Piper that was Erin's phone background. It was the two of them up in Wisconsin before the big hike, a few hours before Erin told him they were expecting an addition to their family. Little did they know that it would be two additions.

"She loves you," Erin mused, "And these babies are going to love you too." She snuggled back against Jay's chest. "The stars are so bright out here."

"That's Orion's belt," Jay said, gesturing to three stars in the sky, "And there's the big dipper."

"O'Ryan? What, like that bar downtown?" Erin asked, running her fingers over her belly, "Don't know how they got the stars in the sky."

"More like Greek Mythology, babe," he chuckled, "If I recall, Orion was the handsomest of all the Greek gods."

"Mm, I know someone handsomer," she replied, reaching a hand up to stroke his cheek.

"A Greek god?" Jay widened his eyes, "Maybe we should take vacation more often. I don't know if I've ever gotten a compliment like that."

Erin titled her head back. "You wanna go again?" She ran her hand up his thigh, "Perks of the second trimester. I've got energy and I could go all night, babe. But if you're tired-"

"I did have a five hour nap," he replied, nibbling at the top of her ear, "We can sleep in tomorrow."

"How are you holding up, Munchkin?" Will asked after taking a sip of his smoothie, "You don't like the smoothie?"

"No, it's really good," Piper gave a small smile, "I'm okay."

He wrinkled his brow. The little girl had actually slept through the night, much to his surprise. Erin's extensive text message that she'd sent before leaving for work that day had an exhaustive list of ways to help Piper feel better after a nightmare, but none of them had been necessary. "Are you missing Erin and Jay a bit?" he asked tentatively, "It's okay."

Piper nodded. "I know they're coming home," she whispered, "And I'm having fun with you."

"You just miss your mom and dad," Will supplied, "That's very understandable. They're missing you too." He held out his cell phone, "I'm getting text messages from Erin and Jay pretty much every hour."

Piper looked at the phone and then looked at the doctor. "They're not supposed to be worrying about me," she said, "They're supposed to be on vacation. And making time for romance, like in your book."

"My what?" Will stuttered, "What are you talking about?"

"You know, your book. On your iPad," Piper said, "You were reading about making time for romance."

Will's cheeks heated. "You saw that? I didn't think you could read that much."

Piper narrowed her eyes. "I'm ten, Will. And I'm good at reading." She offered a small smile, "It wasn't anything bad."

He blew out a breath. "My brother would kill me," he said seriously, "He is very protective about you, Munchkin. He and Erin love you a whole lot."

"Babe, this trip was so that you could sleep in," Erin insisted, shuffling closer on the large hotel bed, "Not lay awake staring at me."

"Can't help but stare at my gorgeous girl," he replied, leaning down to kiss her nose before bringing a hand to her tummy, "My girl who's carrying two of my babies."

Erin managed a sleepy smile. "Your babies are a little hungry," she murmured, "Mommy and Daddy had quite the night."

Jay buried his face in his girl's hair. "We did." He let out a breath as Erin settled against him.

"She's okay, babe," Erin promised, reaching for one of his hands, "Will's taking good care of her."

"You could tell I was thinking about Pipes?" he asked, "How'd you know?"

"I saw you texting when your kids woke me up to pee this morning," she informed him, "And Will texted me that you were texting him asking about her." Erin toyed with his fingers, "I do love how much you love her. But you gotta remember to take care of you too. Sleep is important."

Jay nodded. "I know." He inhaled deeply, "It's just the longest I've been away from her since last year and the whole Bunny thing."

"I was in hell when I was in Washington," she said softly, "Couldn't stand to be away from you guys." She brought her other hand to her belly, "I guess I had these little beans with me."

He kissed her hair. "We missed you too. Pipes especially. I think that's how come I miss her so bad." He gave a small smile, "That kid's got me wrapped around her finger and she doesn't even know it."

Erin smiled wistfully. "I think she knows it. I know you say she's a mini-Erin but honestly babe, I think she's a mini-Jay. Such a Daddy's girl it isn't even funny."

"She loves her sister mom," Jay informed her, "And she loves to take care of you. I swear, it's like she's aged five years since we found out you were carrying our little beans. She's so mature."

"But she's still such a little bug." Erin reached over to grab her phone, "This was a week ago." She showed her partner the picture of Jay and Piper on the couch, the little girl cuddled up just beneath his chin. She had still been recovering from the pneumonia and was doing much better, but had fallen asleep on the way home from her check up and so Jay had carried her to the couch.

"I look so happy," he said, "Do I always look like such a goober?"

Erin chuckled. "Well, you didn't always look this happy," she said, tilting her head up slightly to meet Jay's gaze, "I've known you a while, babe. And I've never seen you as happy as I have since Noodle came into our lives." She scrolled up on her camera roll. "This is one of my favorites."

"Oh my gosh," he gushed, "Look at how little she was."

"Right when we moved in," Erin whispered. The photo was of Jay holding Piper while she stood on the kitchen counter to put the plates in the tallest cabinet. Piper was wearing a sweet smile while Jay looked up at her, beaming.

"She's come so far," Jay whispered, "We've come so far, babe."

Erin nodded in agreement. "I always knew I'd be happy with you." She swallowed, "But I never imagined I could be this happy." Erin brought his arms closer around her. "You've given me everything, Jay. And I don't say it enough but I just really, really love you."

"Turns out star gazing really puts me in the mood," Erin mused, carefully stroking Jay's stomach as she cuddled against him, "The babies like looking at Ryan's belt. Too bad there's so much light pollution in Chicago."

After a day of strolling leisurely around the island and a candlelit dinner, Erin snuggled up against Jay on their balcony to look up at the stars again. "Orion," Jay said, earning an eyeroll from his girl, "Don't worry, I'll teach our beans all about the stars when we take them up to Wisconsin."

Erin smiled. "Noodle suggested Wisconsin for us, but I told her it was a family place. Didn't want to go up there without her."

He nodded in agreement. "It is a family place. We made those little beans under the stars in Wisconsin if I recall," Jay replied, rubbing her stomach gently, "After Pipes had fallen asleep and you suggested the hot tub-"

"You suggested it," she chuckled, "I just enthusiastically agreed. Since you'd just proposed again and we did it in front of the fireplace." Erin placed her hand next to his on her belly. "I still can't believe we're having two babies."

He chuckled. "I still can't believe you said yes to marrying me. Three times."

"Three yeses, three kids," she replied, "Three's a lucky number."

"Three kids," Jay breathed, "We really should start thinking about names though, babe. I know we've been saying that we can't call 'em Bean A and Bean B forever, but seriously."

"I know, I know." Erin shifted slightly, "It'll help once we know if they're boys or girls. Or whatever they want. I don't care as long as they're healthy."

He looked into Erin's eyes when her breath caught, "What is it?"

"There's…there's two somebodies in there," she managed, "Two incredibly perfect little somebodies who we are going to get to love. I-I've got life growing inside me."

"You do," he said, wiping her eyes gently, "You're incredible, babe."

Erin sniffed. "I miss our kid," she said tearfully, "I-I know I told Hank we'd pick her up right before dinner tomorrow but-"

"I already packed the bags for us to leave first thing," Jay said sheepishly, "I miss her too. This weekend away was perfect, but I want to be with both my girls. And all my babies."

"I had so much fun," Piper told Will shyly over breakfast, "You should come over to play more often."

Will beamed. "Well, there is a spare bedroom," he teased, "You think I should move in for a little? See if I can drive Jay crazy?"

She giggled and took a bite of the cereal Will had bought for her. "I think he only pretends to think you're silly," she said seriously, "Jay loves it when you come over. And Erin does too, because you bring her this cereal and Jay said he wouldn't ever buy it because of his stance on putting characters on boxes."

Will rolled his eyes. "He's a funny guy, my brother. A good guy though." He lifted the cereal box and frowned. "But I did finish the last of Erin's cereal. I'll have to pick some up next time I come over, what do you think?"

Piper nodded. "I think we gotta hide it from Jay though. Otherwise he'll do that thing where he looks at you like this." She folded her arms across her chest and gave Will a pointed look.

"You nailed it," Will chuckled. He looked over at the front door, "And it looks like Hank's here." He paused, "Are you okay to spend the rest of the day with him? Because I can get someone to cover-"

"It's okay," Piper promised, "Ruzek says he's on his best behavior around me." She gave a smile, "And Erin and Jay are still coming back today?"

"Mm-hm, they are already on their way," Will confirmed as he opened the door, "Sergeant."

"Halstead," Hank greeted, "Hey, Peanut. How's it going in here?"

"Good," Piper replied, "Yesterday me and Will played at the park for so many hours."

"You did?" He offered a wide smile, "Well, how would you feel about taking a quick trip to the grocery store and then doing some cooking with me? I thought it would be a nice surprise for Erin and Jay."

The little girl gave an emphatic nod. "I'll be at Med if you need anything," Will said to Hank, "I had a great time with you, Munchkin. Thanks for hanging out with me."

"Thank you," Piper said, abandoning her seat to give Will a hug. She giggled when he lifted her up. "Jay's my best friend," she told him, "But I like that I got another Halstead friend too."

"You got the list, Peanut?" Hank asked as they crossed the parking lot to the grocery store. The little girl was holding his hand tightly on their adventure to procure groceries for the week in order to prepare some dishes that would be good for Erin and the babies.

"I got it," Piper confirmed, holding out the piece of paper that she and Hank had worked on earlier that morning. "Will added the name of the cereal he gets 'cause Erin and the babies like it. But Jay doesn't like it when Erin eats too much sugar."

Hank chuckled. "Camille would never let me get that cereal either because she knew that Erin and Justin would like it too much. But I think we can make an exception today, don't you think?"

Piper nodded and gave a small smile. "Jay can't get mad because we're gonna cook a whole bunch so he doesn't have to and so Erin can't say there's nothing to eat."

"Precisely," he confirmed, "We'll hit the produce first and then swing around for the cereal. I'll push the cart if you want to stand next to me?"

She nodded again. "I'll stay close," she replied, "That's what Jay says to do."

"Good call," Hank said, "Now, let's-"

"Hank Voight?"

Hank turned around, still holding Piper's hand. "Who's asking?"

"Courtesy of Bunny," he snarled, "I'm here to finish the job." Piper gasped when the man standing several feet away pulled out a gun. Hank immediately pulled out his own weapon from his hip and opened his mouth to reply, but all Piper could hear was the deafening sound of gunshots.

Eek!
