Chapter 27 - You look beautiful

Blair exited her mother's apartment building to see Chuck stood in front of the passenger car door he had got to come and get her. She couldn't help the butterflies that appeared in her stomach at the sight of him and couldn't control the smile that appeared on her face.

When she was stood in front of him he placed a soft kiss on her cheek and greeted her. "Wow, you look beautiful, Blair." He looked her up and down to drink in the sight of her. She really did look spectacular and he couldn't help but notice that she had pinned back her curls so the nape of her neck was on show. He tried to remind himself that he had a whole evening planned.

"I thought I was meeting you at the Four Seasons?" Blair wasn't ready to let Chuck believe that he had won her over already but she already knew there was no way she was going to let him leave Paris without her.

"Shall we?" he opened the car door and gestured for her to step inside. Chuck wasn't ready to reveal that there was a part of him that questioned if she would really come along tonight and if she didn't, he wanted to face the disappointment sooner rather than later.

Once they were safely in the sanctity of the vehicle Blair turned to look at him. "So, where we going Bass?" She needed to distract herself from her body's reaction to feeling his body so close to hers. It had been some time since she had felt comfortable enough to be intimate with him but by the way her body was reacting to him, she realised it had been too long.

"Now that would be telling Waldorf." he turned to gaze into her doe eyes. As he stared into them, he could feel that she felt the same way as him.

"It better not be just your way of getting me to your hotel room." She tried to act like she would be offended if that was all he had planned for the evening but now that she mentioned it, she was excited at the idea.

"A gentleman would never promise a date and just take advantage of how ravishing you look instead." He whispered so close to her ear that she could feel his hot breath.

"Chuck" was all she could let out in response. He bodies reaction to him was making it difficult for her to formulate an answer.

"Not yet but maybe later." He placed a hand on her knee and smiled when he heard her breathing hitch from his touch. He was grateful when the car came to a stop.

"Le Champo?" Blair looked up to see they had arrived at the arthouse cinema and frankly couldn't believe that Chuck had chosen such a common date. She tried to hide the disappointment from her face.

"I know what you are thinking but I once told you Chuck and Blair would never go to the movies and I thought we could rectify that." He held out his arm for her to wrap her arm around his and follow him into the cinema.

Blair was speechless. At first, she couldn't understand out of all the places he could have taken her to in Paris he had chosen to make her watch a film but she realised it was the gesture. The one where he was willing to redefine his idea of what their relationship meant to him. That they could have a relationship that wasn't defined by games and schemes but by acts that once did not hold any appeal like going to the movies. As they entered the viewing room Blair finally found her voice. "It's just us?"

"You didn't think I would come to the cinema and sit with other people did you and you claim to know me?" Chuck almost acted surprised.

"Isn't that part of the experience?" Blair smiled and rolled her eyes at Chuck. She realised it was silly for her to think he would have chosen a cheap date. He had obviously brought the cinema out for them to have the luxury of them having the place to themselves.

"For the poor. Why suffer when you don't have to?" Chuck was willing to try new things with Blair but sat in a movie theatre surrounded by other people annoying him did not sound like a good way to spend an evening with her.

When they got to their seats, he let he step into the aisle first so she could sit down first and he could take the aisle seat.

"Are you trying to bribe me with Dom?" She nodded to the bottle in the champagne bucket stand beside him.

"When would I ever try to bribe you?" Chuck responded with a mischievous smirk on his face.

Blair faked a chuckle. "You? Never" she said sarcastically. A bottle of Dom Perignon 1995 had once been the only way Chuck knew how to apologise. It was then she saw the opening credits to the movie. "Breakfast at Tiffany's. You brought me to watch Breakfast at Tiffany's? Chuck we've seen this movie together so many times."

"That's true but we both know you prefer to know how things are going to turn out." He poured her a glass and handed it to her. "To new beginnings." He held his glass towards hers so she could clink to their toast.

She moved her glass towards his. "You know I thought we might be talking about what new beginnings meant this evening." Blair knew she was changing the atmosphere of this evening but she wanted Chuck to know that they needed to talk before they moved forward to the next chapter if he wanted her to return to New York with him.

"The night isn't over yet. Have a little faith." Chuck heard the familiar sound of Moon River start playing and knew he would lose Blair's concentration to Audrey. He grabbed the Pierre Hermé macarons he had hidden under his seat and placed them in her lap. Chuck sat back in his seat, took her free hand in his and decided to watch her reactions to the movie.

"Where to next Bass?" Blair asked as they exited Le Champo she pulled herself in closer to him so their bodies were flush together and her lips were almost touching his.

"I should have known that macarons were not enough to stop the effects of you drinking more than your half of a bottle of Dom. Our next stop will be getting some food in you." Chuck couldn't help but love this playful side of Blair but he also knew her playful side meant that she would try and convince them to head back to his hotel room way before he had wanted them to.

"Why can't we just go back to the hotel I'm sure I can find something appetising there." She responded suggestively and stroked her hand along the lapel of his jacket.

He chuckled. "Food first."

"But Chuck." Blair pouted at him. She knew he wouldn't be able to resist her for too long.

"Yes, Blair?" He raised an eyebrow at her and asked.

"Why can't we just go and have some fun?" She whispered close to his ear.

"What do you want to do?" Chuck was intrigued to find out what she wanted to do when alcohol helped her lower her inhibitions and revealed the side to her that was itching to have some fun.

"Let's go do some shots." She chuckled as she said it.

"I thought you wanted to talk." He didn't know where that response had come from. Chuck Bass never refused a good night out but he was here to prove to her that he was serious about their relationship and he did want them to talk before he had to head back to New York.

"When did I say that?" She tried to remember but her head started to feel a bit fuzzy from the champagne.

"Earlier, before the film started."

"But we have all the time in the world to talk we haven't had some fun together in ages."

"You can't do shots on an empty stomach." Chuck tried to appeal to sensible Blair.

"Why not?" She asked with a confused look on her face.

"Because you wouldn't thank me in the morning." He stroked her cheek and tried to plead with her.

"Who said you'd still be around in the morning?" Blair cheekily responded and lightly tapped him on the shoulder.

He moved past her to open the door to the car. "Come on, get in."

"Now, that's more like it." She said as she got in thinking that when they were in the confines of the car he would be unable to resist her.

Chuck playfully shook his head at Blair as he followed her into the car. Just as he sat down Blair straddled him and before he could say anything he felt her kiss him.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled at his hair.

He groaned in response. Chuck knew what she was trying to do and he had to maintain his resolve so he didn't lose their night because he had given into letting her drink more of the bottle of Dom. He allowed her what she wanted even in this moment as he didn't want her to think he didn't want her but after so long of them not being intimate he didn't want their evening to end with them having sex in the back of a car. Chuck could feel himself getting lost in her and knew he had to stop before he couldn't. "Blair."

"Ohh, Chuck." She moaned at him and he felt her grind on him.

He gently placed his hands either side of her face. "Blair, not like this." He tried again to appeal to her to stop.

"Seriously?!"

He saw the hurt in her eyes as she pulled away from him. She started to adjust herself off of his lap but he stopped her by gently placing his hands on her hips. "I want to, I always want to but we will go have some dinner so you can actually remember our night. I'll be offended if you wake up in the morning and you can't remember me making you scream my name."

She felt the heat rush to her cheeks. "Who says it will be your name I scream?"

"Don't torture me, Blair." He knew she was trying to get a reaction from him but there was no way he was going to accept her calling another person's name unless they were role playing.

"But I like it when we role play."

He pulled her face closer to his so he could kiss her. She never seemed to stop amazing him. "You will be the death of me." He confessed to her. "Now let's go and finish our common date with a romantic meal."

Chuck watched as Blair started to sober up. He had kept the conversation light hearted until that point as he didn't want her to have a serious conversation if she was unlikely to remember it. "Are you ready to talk about it?" He leant his arm across the table to reach for her hand.

"Talk about what?" Blair couldn't help but get defensive. She knew she had asked for them to talk but it didn't mean that she instantly welcomed the idea.

"Blair." Chuck didn't need to guess what she was doing. They were here together there was no reason for them to avoid it any longer.

"Well, there's been no signs that Jack sold out to the highest bidder so I'm guessing you gave him your seat." Blair removed her hand from his. Her words were a reminder to why she had been so frosty to him.

"Blair, you've got it all wrong." He let out a sigh in frustration. Chuck released he should have told her he changed his mind and dealt with Jack the way she wanted him to.

"So, why are you here Chuck?" She asked.

"Why are you?" he immediately regretted getting defensive with her but they needed to deal with the elephant in the room. She was the one that fled New York to get away from him.

"Because you wouldn't listen to me. Once again, you were moving forward without my help. I know you came to me first this time but it is so easy to feel like I'm just getting lost in you and what you want and what you need without any consideration for me." she tried not to squeal at him but her emotions were getting the better of her.

"Blair, I'll support you with whatever you want to achieve next you know I'll be by your side." Chuck saw the glimmer of the real reason she left. It wasn't to do with Jack it was the fact that she felt lost and wanted to make a name for herself like she had started to do when she was running the Empire. He was annoyed at himself that he hadn't seen it sooner.

"Will you? You couldn't even stand by my suggestion on how to deal with Jack." Blair needed him to understand that although her decision wasn't just about Jack, it had shown her more than he realised.

"That's not true. I told him that our decision was he could release the information he had if he wanted to." Chuck was suddenly aware that they weren't alone in the restaurant.

"So why hasn't he?" Blair squealed at him finding it hard to believe what he was saying. She knew Jack well enough that if Chuck had told him they weren't going to play along he would do anything to cause them harm.

"I don't know, I left before I could find out to find you. Actually, I left him with whoregina." Chuck smirked at the thought of him leaving his uncle with Georgina. He suddenly wondered who came out of that meeting unscathed.

"What? What did she want with you?" Blair was unable to stop the hint of jealousy in her voice.

"I didn't hang around to find out I told her Jack could help her."

Blair laughed. "I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see how that meeting ended." It had piqued her interest.

"Now what's next for Blair Waldorf? I thought you were set on Columbia?" Now that he could see Blair had started to relax and believe him, he wanted to concentrate on where her mind was at.

"I was but the truth is, I don't know. I hated NYU and since I found out about the baby the idea of going to college hasn't really excited me." She lowered her voice so only Chuck could hear her and reached for his hand. As painful as it was to remember the baby, she wanted him to know she wasn't afraid talking about it with him.

"When was the last time you were excited about the future?" he squeezed her hand to encourage her to answer him honestly.

"When I was running the Empire and helping Lily with Bass Industries." It was the first time she admitted that he had been right about the buzz she would get from running the Empire but she couldn't hide from him about the way she was feeling. Blair knew she didn't want to be associated with his companies again but it had made her feel like the powerful woman she wanted to be.

"But you don't want to do that anymore?" Chuck already knew the answer but wanted to double check that it hadn't changed.

"That's your name and legacy, Chuck. I want to start building my own." She hoped he would understand what she was trying to tell him.

"Have you spoken to Eleanor? Chuck asked.

"Why?" Blair was confused. What did this have to do with her mother?

"She won't want to run Waldorf designs forever." He couldn't believe she hadn't thought of it sooner. Chuck understood that she probably wanted to start something of her own but he couldn't imagine that Blair would eventually want to watch someone else run her mother's company.

"But I'm not a designer." Blair responded like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Blair, I don't know anyone that has a better concept on fashion than you." He tried to encourage her.

"I hadn't really thought about it." She started to process what he had suggested. It did make sense since it was the Waldorf name and wasn't linked to Bass.

"It's something to consider. You have options Blair whether that be Columbia or Waldorf designs or a foundation in your name." It was all Chuck could think of for now but he would explore every option if he had to help her release that she could achieve anything she wanted to.

"Who's going to set up a foundation in my name?" Blair couldn't understand why he had suggested a foundation.

"I will." He answered her seriously.

"That doesn't exactly help with the find who Blair Waldorf is without Chuck Bass's help."

"Why can't I help? Why do you have to do this on your own I love you and I want to help you."

She felt her heart melt at him saying those three words eight letters to her. "I love you too Bass now let's go make use of your room upstairs." She stood up and took his hand in hers to lead him out of the restaurant.

"I thought you might like me to drop you home?"

Blair rolled her eyes at him, "not a chance."

A/N: thank you so much for the reviews. I really had to think about this chapter and I wasn't sure if they would do the typical tourist things but then I remembered that we never got to see Chuck and Blair go to the movies and I wanted to explore that idea. There's so much more for them to do in Paris so I'm not sure I'm ready for them to go back to New York just yet.
