Descendants 3 Chapter 27

Episode 19B

Cursed names:

Leia Jones - Grace

Hope Hood - Naida

Tia and Lyra escorted Grace to Rumple/Weaver's place. The dark sky helped them hide her.

"Are you sure she'll be safe here?" Alex asked her. "Weaver is kind of... sketchy."

"He's a cop. And he's my friend's dad. She'll be safe here." Lyra said.

"Why don't you just take her to your place? She's your sister." Camryn said.

Grace looked over at Lyra, confused.

"It's complicated." Lyra whispered. "But if we expose Samdi, it would be bad for all of you. She has to be kept hidden for now." She stepped towards the twins. "And there's someone here she needs to see."

"Okay." Camryn said.

"Thank you so much for all your help." Lyra said to them.

"Of course, child," Tia Dalma said.

"I'm glad she's safe." Alex said.

Lyra entered the house, immediately welcomed by all the people living there now. Will was baking cupcakes in the kitchen. Weaver/Rumple and Charlie were playing chess on the coffee table. Nadia was watching TV on the couch.

Nadia looked up and ran up to Grace/Leia. "Grace!" She screamed.

Her loud volume scared Charlie, causing him to drop his chess piece.

Nadia wrapped her arms around Grace and guided her to a chair in the dining room. Will grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around Grace. Will backed away, stepping towards Lyra.

"How did you find her?" Will asked Lyra in the back of the room. He leaned against the wall.

"With the help of some witches." Lyra said.

He shot a scared look at her. "Not Gothel."

"No!" She whispered. "Some trustworthy witches. There's more than 8 in this town."

"Yeah, I know. Half my friends are witches." Will teaser.

Lyra smiled and nudged his arm. "I asked Tia Dalma and the twitches."

"Tia actually helped?" Will scoffed.

"From what I heard, it sounds like she's more like Tilly. You know, she's on medication to keep her from remembering." Lyra told him. "She knows more than we thought."

"I hate that she doesn't even have a name in this land. Just 'Mrs. Samdi.'" Will shook his head.

"This curse will be over soon. Henry is on the verge of remembering." Lyra said, sounding hopeful.

Will smiled at her words, even though he didn't believe them.

Back at dining table, Nadia was getting Grace to talk about what happened to her. "It was so scary in there. It was always cold or blazing hot. Mr. Samdi would bring me fast food. I could tell by the wrappers. I had a lot of Mr. Cluck's Chicken."

"Did he ever let you out of that room?" Nadia asked.

Lyra slowly walked over to the kitchen, eavesdropping on the conversation. She lit the stove and warmed up some water.

"I picked the lock once." Grace said.

Lyra laughed a little.

"He caught me before I could reach the ladder." Grace said. She looked haunted by the memory.

Lyra took out two mugs from the above counter. She picked the mug with roses all over it and the mug with apples on it. She poured the hot water in each.

"To keep me from going insane of having nothing to do, he brought books and stuff for drawing. The one lightbulb in the room made it hard to do either." Grace said.

Nadia shook her head. "He promised he would make sure you were safe and that wasn't it. Why was I helping him if he was still torturing you?" She buried her head.

"To keep her alive." Lyra blurted.

Nadia and Grace looked at Lyra. Grace seemed confused but Nadia seemed upset that she was listening.

"Candace." Nadia said, realizing who was in the apartment with her.

"Nadia?" Lyra said casually.

"Ever gonna tell me the truth about you and-"

Lyra rolled her eyes so far.

Nadia squinted her eyes at her. "So are you like dating Will too or what?"
Lyra ignored her and added cocoa powder to the mugs.

Nadia went back to Grace who was still shaken up about the whole thing.

Lyra stirred the powder around in the mugs. The spoon hit the edge of the mugs a few times. Luckily the clicking find the distract from the conversation.

"How long were you there?" Nadia asked.

"It was hard to keep track of the days. No sunlight down there." Grace said.

Lyra held the two mugs in her hands and placed them on the table for Nadia and Grace.

Nadia thanked her quietly and turned away, back to Grace. "How did he take you?" Nadia asked.

"I was walking home from school. Walking back to the group home when he grabbed me. Pulled me into a van. He had this smelly cloth put over my face to knock me out."

"Chloroform." Lyra said aloud.

Rumple glanced over at them from the couch. Charlie had just beat him at chess.

Will sat on the couch, next to Charlie.

"More unplanned guests." Rumple said quietly.

"Rumple, your home is a sanctuary." Will teased him.

"It's a two bedroom." Rumple said. "It's not a hotel."

Charlie giggled at his comment.

Rumple smiled at the boy briefly.

Lyra looked around the small house. All these people staying here now. "Rumple-" she corrected herself. "Weaver is right. There's not enough for all of you to stay here."

"Then we'll go to the shack." Nadia said, glancing at Grace/Leia.

Lyra shook her head. "I think you should try Roni's place."

Nadia considered it for a moment. "Will she take Grace too?"

"For you, yes." Lyra said. She turned back to Rumple who seemed grateful to have two of the guests out of his house.

Britt was confined to her room late the night after she collapsed. Eloise insisted that Brittney would be okay when Marnie and Meredith tried to visit her.

"She didn't seem okay earlier." Meredith said.

"She looked ill." Marnie said.

"Brittney will be alright." Eloise said. "Let her rest for now. She'll be fine in the morning."

Marnie looked at Meredith, appalled that Eloise would kick them out.

Meredith shook her head. "She's just worried. Eloise said we only have a few days left."

Marnie softened but still seemed skeptical. Why doesn't Eloise let us out? I came here to see my friend Elizabeth and I can't even do that. Why does it matter to Eloise so much? Why does she seem to hate Britt? Why does she keep her locked up like Rapunzel?

Eloise locked the door, with just Britt and Eloise in the room. Eloise glanced at Britt with a sneer on her face. "Such a disappointment." she muttered to herself.

The twitches and Tia Dalma went back to their home late that night, prepared for a lecture. Mr. Samdi was waiting for them on the couch. He stood up when they arrived. "Quite the busy day you've all had."

Alex and Camryn looked away from him.

"Samdi, the jig is up." Tia Dalma said. "We saw what you did to that girl."

"I told you never to go snooping around. My dear, I found the pill bottle. It's completely full." Samdi said.

"She's not crazy!" Camryn jumped in. "She proved that when we went to your secret little kiddie dungeon. What the hell Dad?"

He titled and turned his head away. "What did she convince you of this time?"

"Grace confirmed it was you when we asked her to describe you." Alex said. "How could you do that to her? To anyone?"

Samdi walked around them. "I see."

"And you're not going to find her." Alex said. "So don't even think about it."

"You've gone to the police?" He asked them.

"No, you'd look for her there." Camryn said.

"We wanted to ask you ourselves. Why would you do this? How could you do this?" Tia Dalma asked him. "Why would you lie to me?"

"Honestly," he sighed with his hands behind his back, "I've always hated witches. They always think they can do whatever they want because they have this power. My mother used her power drive my father way and to take from anyone she wanted. She was ruthless and manipulative. She even did it to me. That's when I realized that magic meant more to her than me. That girl, is one of them. And she is-was bait for other witches to find her."

"It all comes back to mommy issues." Tia said to him.

"Do not mock me!" He said.

"You're not going to get away with this." Alex said.

"And how do you plan to stop me?" Samdi asked them.

"Grace is already freed. She'll tell everyone." Alex said.

"Not if she's too scared of me." Samdi said.

"Then we'll tell people." Alex said, stepping forward. "You think you're untouchable. You use your height and your money to intimidate people. You don't own this town. It's time you learned that."

"How dare you speak to me like that?" Samdi asked.

"You are not my father." Alex said.

He raised his eyebrow. "Then I can stop pretending." He pulled a small knife out of his vest pocket, pulled Tia Dalma over to him, and stabbed her in the heart.

"No!" Alex screamed. She covered her mouth.

"Mom!" Camryn shouted.

Tia Dalma's body dropped to the ground quickly. Her daughters were helpless in saving her.

Camryn grabbed Alex's hand, snapping her out of the shock. They ran out of the appartment before Samdi could go after them.

Camryn pulled Alex along, whose eyes were too full of tears to see properly. Camryn took them as far away from that apartment as they could get. She didn't stop running and didn't dare look behind her. Camryn only stopped when she saw Eloise in front of them. Camryn didn't even realize how close they were to the mansion.

"Twitches," Eloise greeted them. She saw the girls panting and crying. There was some blood on Alex's shoes.

"Excuse us," Camryn said, trying to keep from crying.

"If you're looking for shelter, our home has more than enough room. We can protect you." Eloise promised.

Camryn glanced at her sister and back to Eloise. She led her sister towards the house.

Eloise had a huge smile on her face. Her coven was almost complete.

The next morning, Tilly has an encounter with Eloise who revealed herself to be Tilly's mother. Distraught, Tilly went to visit Rogers who took her to Henry. Henry has a chart in his room with pictures of the people who have died in this town and he had coven's symbol on it, in an attempt to make sense of it. The three of them discussed the weird things that have been happening in the town. "And Nick isn't the only one who believes he was a fairy tale character or that Lucy is right."Henry explained to them. "Candace showed me all these weird things that have showed up since she arrived in town. There was this wolf ornament and a book. She had a newspaper article about the fictional town in my book. She had a play bill from a show there with my name on it and other characters. She and Hunter have been like soulmates. I think they got married."

"And she's attached to that baby," Tilly added. "Could be nothing but it's like she knows that baby."

"Yeah, Candace and Hunter even got a DNA test, supposedly." He turned around to look for it. He found it under a pile of bills. "Here. It says that the baby really is theirs."

Rogers looked at the test. "This is a real DNA test." He said, looking shocked.

"But they literally just met a few months ago." Tilly said. "I mean, Hunter would have told me or Roni if he met anyone or hooked up with anyone." Tilly looked down. "If this is true then Eloise could be my mother." She looked horrified by the idea.

"And Lucy could be my daughter..." Henry said aloud.

Lyra sought out the twitches that afternoon. Using a tracking spell that didn't require magic, on a map of the town, she discovered they were at the coven's mansion. Lyra gasped when she saw this. They joined her! They can't help her now… Now Eloise has everyone she needs. She has eight witches! "Shit!"

She used the spell again to find someone else. The sand on the map landed on Beanies coffee shop.

Lyra left her apartment with Hunter and Melody inside and visited the coffee place. Sitting at a table alone, was Saraphina. Lyra pulled up a chair and sat with her.

"Lyra," Saraphina beamed. "So good to see you."

Lyra rolled her eyes and shook her head. "I see you've got some new members to your coven."

"The coven. It's not mine." Saraphina said.

"So you're all complete now. Ready to take over the world or whatever your plan is." Lyra folded her arms and leaned back in the chair.

"It's not too late Lyra. You can still join us. You don't know what's coming. Your family will be spared if you come." She reached out for Lyra's hand.

Lyra pulled her hand away. "Isn't your coven full anyway? Or did someone else get killed?"

Saraphina looked down at her coffee. "Britt is sick again. We don't think she'll be strong enough for the ritual."

Lyra looked up and bit the inside of her lip. "I'm sorry to hear that."

"I know she misses you. Maybe you could help her."

"I'm not going anywhere near your coven." Lyra said. "I'm surprised you didn't try to force me to join."

"Gothel tried." Saraphina said under her breath.

Lyra glared at her.

"Apparently when you woke up, you became immune to her powers."

Lyra smirked. "Oh yeah."

"How did you do that?" Saraphina asked.

"A protection spell. I used it on my entire family so that Gothel couldn't used her powers to force them to do anything against their will. Of course, Lena and Hope helped me do the spell. After Melody was kidnapped, I couldn't take any chances." She still seemed haunted by the memory of it. "Eloise can't make us help her if we don't choose too."

Saraphina leaned back in her seat and shook her head.

Lyra leaned forward a bit. "Humanity is not evil. You can't think that way or else you will be filled with hate."

"You were lucky enough to have a mother with magic. Friends with magic. You got to live in a place where magic was accepted." Saraphina said. "Or it was, before it got destroyed."

"It wasn't like that for everyone." Lyra said, thinking back. "There was a boy who-" she didn't want to relive it. "He had magic, but because of his mother and how he came into the world, people were always weary of him. He was an outcast. He took magic lessons with us but any slip up and it was a disaster. Everyone would blame him. Fear him. Of course he would feel rejected. Hurt. Angry. Unloved by his father who already has two other children, three if you count his step-son."

"So you understand. That's what it has been like for most of us." Saraphina said.

"Except you both had a choice. You chose the darkness. You chose to get revenge. You could have seen the good in anyone. He saw the good in Lena, until she rejected him. He needed a friend. I" she pointed to herself. "I was probably the only friend he had. I could have been like him too. I could have gotten angry and chosen revenge. But I didn't-"

"No, you just went back in time to change your history." Saraphina said.

Lyra narrowed her eyes at her. She couldn't believe she knew about that part of her life.

"Oh, yes, we all know in the coven. Or at least the original coven. How is that much better? You paid a steep price for that."

"What are you talking about?"

"Every time you go back in time, someone dies. Someone who travel with you dies." Saraphina said. "And don't act so innocent. I also know that you killed your 'friend' Zakariah."

Lyra looked away from her.

"Maybe you are right. Maybe you could have saved him from his fate. But you didn't. You chose to reject him too."

"We were going back in time. None of that would have mattered."

"But it does matter to you. I can see it one your face. It still haunts you, what you did to him. How you could use that dagger you're a part of, and kill him."

"That's not why I came here." Lyra said, hitting the table. She turned her head downward.

Saraphina softened, taking a sip of her tea.

"I was going to go to the twitches for this but I doubt Eloise will let them out. I'm surprised you're even out." Lyra said.

"Eloise knows I'll be back."

Lyra blinked, annoyed. "Anyway, I need my Golden Compass. Not for me, but to keep it out of the hands of Facillier or Samdi as he goes by here."

Saraphina listened to her old friend. "If he has it he can see our every move. He can destroy us-and I don't just mean the coven, but all witches."

Lyra nodded, "That's why we need to get it back. Or at the very least away from him."

Saraphina narrowed her eyes. "You would trust us with the compass?"

"Anyone is better than him." Lyra said. "I didn't even know it still existed in this world."

Saraphina smiled a little and nodded, agreeing to help her.

Saraphina went into Samdi's building alone that afternoon. She use her magic to sense where the Golden Compass might be. She quickly hid in a room when Samdi came out of his office. Low and behold, that was the room where the compass was hidden. She could sense its power. The room was dimly lit with a folding table in the center full of files. Against the wall were some old lockers. Saraphina went over to the lockers and used her magic to unlock them. Inside the first locker were some clothes resembling enchanted forest attire. The second locker had lock box on the top shelf. She pulled it out and opened it. There were some rings, necklaces, and finally she saw it. The Golden Compass! Saraphina grabbed the necklace and put it in her purse. She carefully left the building undetected by Samdi. He almost saw her when she was turning the corner.

When Saraphina returned the compass to Lyra, Lyra had another favor to ask. "Look, I can't thank you enough for this but I need one more thing." Earlier that day, Lucy showed up with her mom's glass slipper from the new Enchanted Forest. It was broken in two piece. The first piece she found months ago under the well when it was being deconstructed. Lucy and her mom were going through her mom's storage boxes (thinking something would appear like it did for Lyra and Lena) and the slipper was there, along with a shirt from Granny's diner. Lucy brought the slipper next door to Lyra. "The slipper is the key to breaking Henry's curse… albeit a curse you helped set. But does that matter now? Please, it's time he had his heart back."

"Eloise would be furious is she found out." Saraphina said. "I've already spent my afternoon away from the coven. I have to get back."

"You don't need the coven. Saraphina!" Lyra urged her. "You work with children. How can you be so cold? What's going to happen to them when your ritual begins."

Saraphina huffed. "Fine. Give me the shoe." She crushed the shoe with magic and it shattered. The shattered pieces went out the window of Lyra's apartment and a few blocks away to Henry's apartment, where the window was left open. The pieces went into his heart and healed him. Henry felt a strange warmth in his heart. He never saw the shattered glass floating around.

Lyra went up to her apartment and grabbed the golden compass. Holding it again after all this time felt like a dream. She brushed her hand over it and opened it up. It was just as she remembered with all the symbols on it. It took her a couple tries to get it to work for her. She closed her eyes and asked her first question. "Is Charlie my friend Roger?"

The dial on the compass began spinning. It showed her friend Roger being freed from the place where children were being separated from their daemons (or souls). Mrs. Coulter freed him and gave him a limo ride back home. He asked about Lyra.

"I can't wait to see Lyra again. I really miss her." Roger said. He was only eight at the time. His Daemon was in rat form and rested on his shoulder.

"You're very close with her, aren't you." Mrs. Coulter asked him on the car ride.

"She's my best friend." Roger said.

"She's 12. Aren't there any friends who are younger than her? Closer to your age."

"She's the coolest of all." Roger said. "And she helps with bullies."

"She gets bullied?"

"No. No one would dare mess with her. She helps me scare the bullies away."

Mrs. Coulter smiled. "She seems like a wonderful friend. Alas, you may not see her right away when you return. She's visiting her uncle, but I plan on bringing her back as soon as possible."

Roger went home and waited for Lyra to show up again. After a few weeks, we wondered if Lyra was in trouble. There was nothing he could do to help her. No way of knowing. Lyra's "uncle" had left to visit another world, so he was considered missing in their world. No one knew about the portal. Mrs. Coulter visited the following year. Roger asked about Lyra but Mrs. Coulter wouldn't answer him.

Three years later, Saraphina came to visit him. She told him everything she knew about Lyra up to that point (about her parents being in another land and Lyra living with them). She gave Roger a spinning top, saying that it would reunite him with Lyra. He spun the top, only to land in the new Enchanted Forest, just before the curse hit.

"It's is him!" Lyra exclaimed. "He's alive!" She spun around the room and started to cry a little. She gathered herself and asked the compass another question.

"What is Eloise's story?"

The compass dial began spinning and showed her the answer. Eloise was a tree nymph. She was curious about the human world. She befriended a group of girls. One of them was Saraphina. The girls betrayed her, calling her a freak and dumping mud on her. The girls found where her family lived and destroyed them all. Eloise's mother asked her not to get angry as she died. "Only goodness can bear sweet fruit." Eloise got revenge by killing the girls at the party. Saraphina revealed her magic, and Eloise began her quest to find others like them.

The coven rounded up at the theater, or under the theater. Meredith and Morgana used their powers to clean up the place. They changed the ground to a dirt surface. Eloise magically created the witches symbol on the dirt ground. Marnie walked alongside Britt.

"I'm glad you're feeling better." Marnie said.

"Must have been the tea you gave me." Britt smiled.

The twitches watched in the back, looking more and more nervous with every step they took.

The witches all gathered around the circle. There were eight marks for them. Eloise handed each girl a cloak and they took a spot. Eloise stood at one spot. Saraphina was next to her. On the other side of Eloise was Morgana, then Meredith, and the twitches. Marnie stood by the twitches and Britt started towards the last spot. Once she stepped foot on it, she felt a horrible wave of heat.

All the witches's energy in the coven powered through each other, except for Britt. All the witches were embracing their powers but Britt was panting. She was sweating down her forehead, struggling to breathe. She took a big gasp and fell to the ground.

"Britt!" Marnie shouted.

"Brittney," Meredith said, looking worried.

Marnie lunged towards her but Eloise sternly said, "leave her."

"She's dying!" Marnie said.

"She's not the 8th witch we need." Eloise said.

"Then who is?" Morgana asked.

There was a slam of the door upstairs. "She's here." Eloise said.

Eloise eyed Saraphina and Morgana before turning around and heading up the stairs. Saraphina and Morgana followed behind her.

Marnie got off of her spot and kneeled beside Brittney.

"She said not to move." Alex said.

"They moved." Meredith said.

"Is she okay?" Cameron asked Marnie.

Marnie picked Britt up, placing Britt in her lap. Britt was really groggy. Her eyes were partially open.

"I thought the coven was supposed to heal her..." Meredith said.

"What?" Marnie asked.

"She was sick before. When we got more witches, she got better. It doesn't make sense." Meredith said.

"Unless-" Camryn began to say.

The other witches came back down to the basement with two other people: Tilly and Rogers. Morgana gripped Rogers, with his hands behind his back. Saraphina released Tilly, who looked very scared.

"Tilly?" Alex asked.

"She's a witch too?" Camryn asked.

Tilly didn't want any part of this but Eloise used Rogers to threaten her into going along with it.

Saraphina gave Eloise a strange look when Eloise was threatening Roger's life over this. She was coarsing her own daughter!

The twitches eyes each other nervously.

The witches got back in their places. Tilly stood where Britt did. Britt lied on the ground, off to the side. Marnie kept looking back at her.

Tilly took the cloak and led the girls in the ritual. A magical ball of light appeared in her hand and moved to the center of the circle. It lit on fire and turned to liquid down the symbol, flowing towards each witch.
