That night, after a long explanation of what was going on to Mayor Tana, as well as a long celebration from the villagers, Marie and her team had finally arrived back to Percy's home. It had been a very very long night for Marie especially. She was exhausted. Her entire body ached, her very SOUL shaking with this tiredness. Luckily, everyone decided to save questions for Okami, Indigo, and Darien for the next day. Everyone was too exhausted. Marie was glad, to say the least. She had made her way to her bedroom, and had gotten changed into a nightgown. She made a mental note that the skirt was a touch shorter than she remembered, but then she remembered how her height and overall proportions had increased a slight bit, upon SAVING Indigo and Darien. She didn't know exactly why, but she didn't really question it. Marie pulled back the covers on her bed, and crawled into it, snuggling into the blankets and relishing the warmth and softness. She closed her eyes, and sleep came almost immediately.
Marie opened her eyes to see a pure white light beaming in her face, almost blinding her. She let out a yelp, covering her eyes. "Be at ease, child of light." Marie unshielded her eyes to see someone in front of her. She was a tall woman, way taller than Marie. She had long, pure white hair that reached to her feet, shimmering with white light. She was wearing a white dress of a sort, looking magnificent and beautiful. She had kind white eyes that were glowing, shimmering with HOPE. "Greetings, child of light. It is wonderful to finally see you face to face." Marie's eyes were wide and filled with awe. She bowed hastily, feeling nervous. "Child, please rise. You have no need to bow before me." Marie rose, facing the tall mysterious woman. She had a motherly tone to her ethereal voice, echoing with kindness. She had a rather voluptuous figure, further fitting the motherly nature of her. "I know your name, but you do not know mine, do you not?" The woman asked, bending down a little to be at eye level with Marie. Marie shook her head. The woman did a soft smile. "Well then, I must change that. My name is Megami, child of light." So that was the name of the woman who had helped Marie and her friends so much. "I cannot talk to you for too much longer, child. You are to wake soon. But please know. There is a threat beginning to rise. In time, you will face something horribly powerful. I cannot help you directly, as it is the law of gods to never interfere. But what I can do is grant you and your friends new powers. Child, as you have figured out, you are the chosen one. You are the Angel. And with your friends, you will SAVE this world from the coming darkness. A battle is coming, child of light. It will decide the fate of this world as of now, and it will decide if whether or not that you reunite the two races. Humans and Monsters are destined to rule the Earth together. You must bring the peace back." Megami's voice now held a ring of urgency to it, sounding desperate. "Child of light, you are the hope for the future. You are going to blaze a path for your descendants to follow." Marie felt her SOUL pulse with confidence and light. She knew that the path ahead of her would be hard, but who else would SAVE the world she loved? Her friends? "I'll...I'll do my best, Megami!" Marie answered, her bright blue eyes glimmering with determination. Megami smiled. "Thank you, child of light. Be at peace as much as you can." And with that, Megami faded away, and Marie could see the light receding.
Marie opened her eyes to see that she was in her bed, but it was nighttime still. She still felt very tired, but at least her body didn't ache as much. She slowly sat up, and looked around the room. She saw Sans, in his ghostly form, asleep on the floor. Marie rolled her eyes. Probably too lazy to go back into the...what even is that realm called...screw it, I'm calling it the SOULSCAPE. Marie slowly got out of bed, being careful to not disturb the sleeping skeleton. Marie carefully stepped past him, moving as quietly as possible. At one point, she ended up almost falling over, tripping over her own feet, not paying attention momentarily to where her feet were. She kept tip-toeing her way through until she arrived at the door. She carefully and quietly opened the door, being careful to not let it creak. She stepped out of her room, and as she was closing the door, Sans was gone. Marie cocked her head in confusion. "Heya." Marie almost jumped out of her own skin as she let out a muffled yelp of alarm, almost slamming into the door from jumping up. She spun around, her eyes flashing with magic, and saw Sans standing right in front of her. "You little cheat!" Marie exclaimed, hushing her voice to not wake anyone. Sans still had his cheeky smile on his face, her eye sockets narrowed slightly. "Heh, gotcha, didn't I?" Marie sighed and nodded. "Had I not been properly awake, I would have woken up everyone in this house." Marie muttered, giving Sans an annoyed stare. Sans shrugged, his cheeky smile still there. "Okay, okay, so don't startle you at night. Got it. I'll just do it during the day." Marie let out an exaggerated sigh, slumping her shoulders. Sans snickered, giving her a wink. "You live to spite me, huh?" Marie said, looking at Sans again. He nodded. "Hey, you caught me. I live to spite a buncha people, don't worry." Marie remembered how much Sans and his younger brother Papyrus argued. Usually, it was all in good fun, just the usual sibling rivalry, usually caused by Sans uttering too many puns. But occasionally, while Marie was in the SOULSCAPE while she slept, she had to step in between them to prevent Papyrus from flinging a bone at his brother, and at even more rare times, she had to break the two up, usually with Papyrus being the attacker, from Sans winding him up too much, when Undyne wasn't around. She cared about Sans as a good friend, but man, was he annoying at times with his constant puns and pranks. Marie didn't even want to think about how bad other Sanses and even certain lazy Papyruses could be, sometimes worse than Sans himself. "Yeah, yeah." Marie replied. "Welp, guess it's time for me to go back into the...SOULSCAPE, was that what you called it?" Sans asked, looking at Marie directly now. "Yeah." Marie forgot that, whenever Sans or others were 'watching' her, they could hear her thoughts, but only if they wanted to. "Anyway, see you later, kid." Sans said, doing a small wave. "See you later, Sans." Marie said with a sigh, a smile making its way on her face. Sans faded away.
Marie began to quietly walk through the house, now silently making her way through. She was careful not to step on the creaky floor boards, ones that she had grown familiar with. She kept her breathing steady and calm, being careful not to jump when she heard a bump in the night, figuring it came from outside. She kept walking, until she heard the sound of humming.
The melody was slow and eerie, but somehow comforting and sweet at the same time. She listened for the voice, and kept following the humming. She kept walking until she arrived outside, and she saw Okami sitting out in the grass, looking at the stars. Marie took a step forward, and Okami's ears flickered. She looked behind, and saw Marie.
Okami let out a small yelp, jumping a little. "It's just me!" Marie exclaimed, trying to calm Okami. Okami's ears laid down, visibly calming down. Marie walked over to Okami, sitting next to her. "So, looking at the stars?" Okami nodded in response. "Well, I don't blame you. The sky is clear and the stars are shining beautifully tonight." Marie lamented, looking up at the beautiful night sky. "Yeah." Okami replied, looking up as well. "Why are you up so late?" Okami asked, looking at Marie. "I woke up." Marie replied. "Why are you?" "I couldn't sleep." Okami replied, looking at the stars once again. "I don't blame you. Today was really...uh...exciting, in a way." "I guess so." Okami half-heartedly replied, her eye still fixed on the stars. Marie did a small smile, exasperated but happy. She was glad that Okami liked the stars, but at the same time, she wanted to get to know Okami as a friend. Then again, she remembered how late it was, and how tired everyone was as well. "Well, I'm going back inside." Marie said, standing up. Okami didn't reply. Marie walked into the house, and began to walk through the home yet again, wandering the halls and making sure to keep quiet. She eventually became way too tired to keep on, and began to wander back to her room, wandering in a daze, not aware of her surroundings. She was, however, aware enough to keep quiet as she made her way to her bedroom. She quietly opened the door, and walked into her room. She closed the door, making sure to be as quiet as possible, and walked to her bed, flopping on top and instantly falling back asleep.
...
Marie awoke from a dreamless sleep, her eyes opening slightly to see light sunlight filtered through the window, partially muted by the curtains. She heard the sound of birds chirping and singing. Marie let out a small yawn, when she realized that something was wrapped around her waist. She looked behind her, and saw Percy. Her arms were wrapped around Marie's waist, holding her tight. Marie felt a rush of red appear on her face. Percy wasn't awake yet. Marie decided to wait until she was awake, so that she wouldn't have to wiggle out of her grasp and risk waking her up. Well, that, and she wanted to remain in Percy's embrace for a bit longer. She knew that today would be rather long, as she remembered that they had to gather info from Darien and Indigo, as well as from Okami. Here we go, I suppose.
