Chapter 27th

Doctor Cyril Taft had arrived back into the hospital after getting a call. He was at home when he had gotten the word that his patient Special Agent Gibbs was waking.

He had been shaking his head at the idea that Gibbs was waking was amazing in itself. Unlike those times over the years for when he stayed in a coma a number of times, and with a specialist Doctor Gelfand in charge of those cases.

The last time was only last year for when the doctor was called in to consult.

Walking out of the elevator. He headed for the nurse's station to speak with the supervisory nurse. She looked up to see his facial expression. "What?" he said.

"Nothing sir. Doctor Gilbert is waiting for you in Special Agent Gibbs room along with his wife Marcie." she hands him the chart into his hand.

"Thanks." he will have to say with moving away from her shaking her head with disgust for some odd reason.

When he had reached the room. Doctor Gilbert had come out of the room to speak with him. "How's the patient?" he asks with concern with his demeanor.

"Did you read my note about the latest EKG and others about his left side heart valve?" Doctor Gilbert commented in a sour tone to make Taft think that there was more to it than meet the eye.

"I read it Doctor Gilbert. If it is that series then I suggest we set up a surgery in a few days. However, I will need to discuss this with Gibbs and his wife about the different possible options."

"Fair enough Cyril." he walked away to head for another patient. While Taft walked inside the room to see Marcie chuckling with something her husband had to say to her.

"What's so funny?" Taft asks by placing the medical chart onto the table.

"Nothing really other than we were talking about the name of the baby has to be a boy. Jethro said something on the line that Lucy is going to have a friend to play with."

"Do you think Lucy will not be jealous now that all of the attention will be towards the baby?" Taft said in a serious demeanor.

"Good question doc? By the way, what's going on that you're availing the true issue of my health?" Gibbs would be the one to say.

"Okay here is the truth Gibbs. We will be needing to perform heart surgery on you with the left side heart valve is causing trouble with the blood flow and oxygen. It's why you're been having issues the past year or so ever since it started with all of the tortures you're been through."

"Are there any other options?" Marcie commented with coming over to hold his hand.

"We can always deal with it medications for only so long before there will be possible more damage. This will cut down on all of your activities."

There was a moan coming from both of them. "Then I guess it's the surgery. I had Doctor Gilbert set it up. But in the meantime, I will have the ton of paperwork brought in for you to sign Gibbs."

"How long will the surgery take Cyril?" Marcie needed to ask the importance of the question.

"It can range from three to eight hours depending on the amount of damage, bleeding, and or anything else that could happen while Gibbs is on the table." he takes a deep breath with picking up the chart to head out again.

They had watched him leave the room with Marcie sitting down taking a deep breath. "I do hope you're friend knows what he's doing for when it comes to you and your heart?" she cried out with the stress setting that wasn't sitting well with her stomach.

"Look! Doctor Cyril Taft is the best heart specialist for this area and the hospital. He knows what he's doing every single time he's had taken care of me, Marcie. I trust the man a great deal while I have been on the table."

"I am not trying to change your mind about the surgery. I just need to be certain that you're going to be coming out of the surgery and survive. I have lost too much in my life and I can't afford Jethro to lose you as well?" she cried out.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs never liked emotional scenes especially when it comes to his own wife and team members for NCIS, and including himself. He had placed his hand on her face to stop the crying.

"I need for you to go home and rest Marcie, along with Lucy needing attention as well." Gibbs had responded with the emotional order.

"Fine, I will go home and walk Lucy. But I will be back later after a few hours for a nap. By that time all of the paperwork had been signed by you?" she replied with placing back on her coat before heading out into the cold air. She will kiss her husband on the lips for an emotional goodbye.

Afterward...

"Take care of yourself buster until I come back later. Love you!" she didn't wait for his response angry that this had to happen in the first place.

Sometime later a nurse came in with a ton of paperwork that needs to be signed as she had explained every single one and including sending the forms to NCIS and the insurance to bill them after Special Agent Gibbs leaves the hospital.

"Let's get this over with already?" Gibbs cryptically said with his tone of voice and anger demeanor.

"Fine by me, Special Agent Gibbs. It's my job to make sure that all of the paperwork had been signed before the surgery in the morning. By the way, there are going to be someone in afterwards to take further tests on your heart." she said.
