"I'm gonna really miss you, Jules, promise we'll talk every day!" Jesse said, almost crying.
"Of course, silly, you won't get away from me that easily!"
"Go kick some ass at the tryouts!" He said.
"Are you sure you wanna go all the way to New York?" Guy asked Connie, looking distraught.
"Yes! They have the best beauty schools there, it's only for 8 months, we'll facetime every day!"
The Ducks were all saying goodbye to one another, tears were being shed and hugs lasted for way too long as Jessica tried her best to cheer up the atmosphere.
"Guys! I want everyone there at our wedding, I don't care, okay?" She stretched her arms to take in as many of her friends as she could into a hug. They all joined in on the group hug. "I love you guys!"
A couple of cabs rolled up, taking some of them to the airport as the rest waved them goodbye.
"When do you guys have to go?" Charlie asked.
"Our flight's at 1PM tomorrow." Adam replied.
"Alright then, I won't say bye to you now." Charlie winked.
"You guys wanna go have food?" THe remaining Ducks went to the burger joint for a meal.
"Hey, let's go for a drink after this...oh sorry, Jess, I forgot." Guy offered but apologized after remembering she couldn't drink.
"No no no, you should go, I better get back, still got some packing to do before tomorrow!" Jessica responded.
"Babe, are you sure? I can come help you out."
"Nooo, you guys have a good time, really. I'll see you back at the dorm!"
"Alright, see you."
The next day, Charlie came over to help out with loading their stuff into the car since Jessica couldn't lift heavy things. They had to go in about half an hour so Adam asked Jess if he could have a minute with Charlie.
"Yeah, of course!" She said and walked out.
"I can't believe this is it…" Adam said in a melancholic tone.
"I know...6 years, man, it feels like we've been friends forever." Charlie smiled. "Hey, remember your first game on the Ducks, man you were on fire!"
"Yeah but no one wanted to pass the damn puck to me!" The two boys burst out laughing.
"That day we won against the Hawks? Best day ever! I think I was more happy then than when we won the Olympics! Hey, speaking of which…" Charlie pulled out a small box from his pocket and handed it to Adam.
"What's this?"
"Open it."
Adam took out the thing out of the box and unwrapped it to reveal a puck. "A puck?"
"Not just a puck, the puck we used at the finals against the Hawks!" Charlie beamed.
"What? How did you get this?"
"I asked Bombay back then if I could have it and kept it but I want you to have it.
"Charlie...I don't know what to say…"
"Say you'll keep it safe!"
Adam thought for a moment and got up.
"What's up?"
He didn't reply but started rummaging through his bags. "Here, I want you to have this."
"Your Duck jersey? Are you serious?"
"Well, I've been keeping it for sentimental value mostly, unlike you, I don't fit into my clothes from when I was 12!" Adam laughed.
Charlie got up and gave him a tight hug, both of them teary now. "I love you."
"I love you, too."
The two boys walked outside with the rest of the stuff and hugged one more time.
"Bye, Charlie, I'm really gonna miss you!" Jess said through tears.
"Me, too, J! Send me pics of the baby asap, okay?"
"Of course!" Adam and Jessica got into the cab to the airport. Charlie thought it would take him some time to feel the lack of Adam's presence but he felt empty immediately. He wanted to cry but Noah came out just then. "Everything okay, Charlie?"
"Yeah, they just left...let's go get some food."
When they got to New York, Jessica's parents gave her a call to come to their place. "What's up, guys?"
"Listen you two, your father and I discussed it and we want you to have the condo, he's right, it's too big for the two of us, you're gonna have the baby soon and need more space, no way are we letting you stay in some shady apartment who knows where. Plus, it's close to NYU so Adam doesn't need to waste time commuting."
"Mom, but you love this place!"
"I love you more, Jessi bear!"
"Well, where are you guys gonna stay?"
"Your father has found a townhouse in Queens."
"Well, alrighty then, we'll take it!"
Later that evening, Adam and Jessica were busy settling into the apartment. "Hey, shall we have Connie over for dinner? I bet she's lonely." She suggested. "Sure, babe."
"Hey, would it be okay if we made her the baby's godmother? She's been a very good friend to me and I owe it to her."
Adam smiled. "Yeah, that sounds great, I agree."
"Oh my God you guys! How huge is this place! I gotta facetime Guy, he's gonna be so jealous!"
"Connie, listen, we discussed it and we want you to be the baby's godmother if you want." Connie's jaw dropped and she teared up.
"Are you serious!?"
"Yes, girl!" Connie jumped out of her chair and gave Jessica a big hug.
"Yes yes yes! Of course I'll do it!"
"So, what's the plan for your birthday? 10th of August, right?"
"Yep, we don't really have plans yet, it's definitely not gonna be anything crazy!" Jessica snorted as she put her hands on her belly.
"Well, let me know if anything is happening!"
"Hey, Cons, can you also help us out with sending out the wedding invitations?"
"Yes, of course! I'll come over tomorrow and we can work on it?" They finished the dinner and Connie left after having a drink.
They ended up not doing anything for Jessica's birthday since she wasn't feeling too good - her feet were swollen and she felt a little nauseated. Instead, they just changed into comfortable clothes, ordered takeout and watched movies.
