"Hmm... hmm-hmm-hmm..."

All Adam could see at the moment was darkness, but for some reason, he heard a woman humming. And to him it was... oddly pleasant. He didn't know why, but he felt something stirring inside him.

Sorrow?

Yes, but... there was something more.

Guilt?

No, it's not that.

Hope.

That was it. Hope. And he could feel it building up inside him, but still... he didn't know why and he didn't understand.

"Wake up!"

Adam heard be he felt water suddenly splashing on his face which caused him to wake him up and go into a coughing fit to keep the water from filling his lungs. He then looks behind him to see that his hands were bound before looking up to see Jack the Ripper, with a bucket in his hand, Ricardo Gomez, also known as Treacherous Vulture and a few other men in uniforms surrounding him.

"They obviously must be from Gomez's group. The Black Vultures." Adam thought as he examined his surroundings to figure out where he might be. He was obviously still in the underground base, but where he was in this exact moment, he didn't know.

Gomez then walked up to him slowly as Jack set the bucket down and sat down in a chair that was nearby.

"Well, well, Adam. We really should stop meeting under such circumstances like these, mi amigo." He said to Adam in a gentle tone as he stood in front of him.

Adam scoffed. "Well, if you would just stop running and turn yourself in to the proper authorities, then maybe we would meet under better circumstances for once. But I think we both know that won't happen." He said while glaring up at Gomez.

The man nodded with a smirk before he started to walk around Adam in a circle. "Yes, that's right, Adam. Because I think we both know that no one really trusts the proper authorities like they used to. Too many bad and corrupt people in power are so easily bought these days that it just... well, it just takes the fun out of everything and makes things too easy." He said while still circling Adam.

Adam sighed then shrugged. "I won't argue with you there." He said making Gomez chuckle.

"See? You understand." The man said with a smug tone. Adam continued to just glare at Gomez as the man just circled him. "So why exactly am I still alive, Gomez? Judging from how the Ripper is glaring at me like I'm glaring at you..." Adam said before pausing to look at the cyborg, who was currently glaring at him, before looking back at Gomez.

"He wants to kill me almost as much as I want to kill you." He finished. Gomez then stopped in front of Adam and looked at him before turning around and walking into the darkness of the room.

A few moments pass before Adam heard his voice again.

"Lights on!" Gomez shouted.

The lights switched on which pained Adam's eyes for a moment before they adjusted and he then looked up to see what Gomez was standing in front of.

Metal Gear Goliath, in all its "glory".

"So, Adam, what do you think? Goliath is pretty impressive isn't it?" Gomez asked with his hands raised thinking that he was showing off and being dramatic.

But Adam had a look of skepticism and criticism on his face.

"I see someone has taken inspiration from Mobile Suit Gundam for Goliath, I see." He said with a snarky tone making Gomez narrow his eyes.

"Excuse me?" He asked.

Adam just shrugged. "You never heard of Mobile Suit Gundam? Yeah, it's a classic anime from Japan. You should look it up, it's great stuff. But, uh..." He said before pausing to motion his head at Metal Gear Goliath. "Someone has CLEARLY ripped off some things from the series and added their own spin to it." He continued while looking at the metal giant in front of him.

Goliath, from what Adam could gather, stood roughly 27 to 28 meters from head to toe and 32 meters with the weapon that is currently attached on the right side if its back. There is something akin to a large container on the left side of Goliath's back, but Adam can't tell what it is or what it does.

Goliath's design also puzzles Adam. It's design looks to be modeled after silver samurai armor with green accents on the head, arms, legs and body.

But the eyes are what makes Adam feel a little uneasy despite the brave face he's putting on in front of Gomez and the Ripper. The eyes of Goliath aren't even glowing as of yet, but he knows that once the metal giant is activated, all hell will break loose.

Unfortunately, he can't even tell what the weapon on Goliath's right does. It has the design of a rail gun like Rex and Sahelanthropus had during their respective times, but Adam doesn't even have enough intel to draw any type of conclusion at the moment.

"I mean, don't get me wrong. The design is interesting, but... I'm not all that impressed to be honest with you, Gomez. I get that you want to stick to the higher ups here in the U.S, but... why does it look like it's something of a rip off of Mobile Suit Gundam or a rip off from a classic Japanese samurai film?" Adam asked with a chuckle.

Gomez hopped down from where he was standing and rushed up to Adam before getting right in his face with a glare. "You can insult me, Goliath or the Ripper or any one of us here in this base all you want, Adam. But if you're really so unimpressed with Goliath, then you don't have to wait for very long." He said to him with gritted teeth.

Adam narrowed his eyes.

"What do you mean?" He asked, but Gomez just smirked.

"You have a front row seat, Adam. To witness Goliath's rampage through New York. I am going to be the pilot and there will be nothing you can do to stop it... since you're all alone here on this mission." Gomez said with an excited tone.

Adam's eyes widened at the revelation that just smacked him in the face. "He's going to show off Goliath and use it to attack the city." He thought to himself, but he could do nothing but glare at both Gomez and the Ripper as he clenched his fists.

"John, where the hell are you?"

Meanwhile, with John at the docking area...

"Damn it, Adam. Where are you ?" John whispered to himself as he searched around the docking area for Adam. "His last location is pinpointed here at the dock, but I don't see any sign of him anywhere." He thought as he continued to walk around in his search.

"Damn it. I'm gonna have to contact Motherbase." He thought as he activated his radio. "Cyber Fox to Motherbase. I repeat, this is Cyber Fox to Diamond Foxes Motherbase, please respond." He said to the radio before waiting for a reply.

BZZT!

"We read you Cyber Fox. Go ahead." A voice responded.

"I've lost sight of my partner, Phantom, and our target, Jack the Ripper. I need you to activate Phantoms tracker and find out where he is on the double. If he's been captured then we find to find him quickly." John replied as he paced around in the docks.

"Roger that, Cyber Fox, we'll get right on it and get back to you soon." The voice responded before the radio went silent.

John nodded. "Good." He whispered before continuing to look around for any signs of clues or hints as to what happened to Adam.

Back with Adam in the underground base...

Adam continued to glare at Gomez as he typed in codes to program Goliath's attack on New York while the Ripper continued to keep an eye on him.

"I have to figure out a way to stop this, but how? I'm stuck to a chair and that red eyed bastard isn't taking his eyes off me. He's not Snake, but he is smart I'll give him that. But what can I do to put a stop to this or stall them at the very least?" He wondered to himself as he thought of multiple ways to stop Gomez and the Ripper or stall them.

"Gomez, enlighten me on something." He suddenly said making Gomez stop for a moment and look up at him from the console. "What is it, Adam?" He asked before going back to coding.

"With this plan of yours, it's obvious that you want Goliath to go on a rampage through the city. But what will you have to gain from this? You'd be showing your greatest hand too early. Wouldn't you consider that a fatal mistake?" Adam asked him.

Gomez paused for a moment before looking back up at Adam with a grin on his face.

"Normally, it would be, Adam. You're right. Under normal circumstances, showing my best hand too early would cause my downfall." Gomez began to explain. "However, Goliath is only one piece of my greatest hand. I have multiple pieces in my possession that could ultimately lead to my organization's victory. Goliath is only one of those many pieces that I have come to hold. Unfortunately for you, you don't know what all those pieces are or how they've come to be. At least not yet." He said to Adam with an almost taunting tone.

Then he leaned down in front of Adam's face. "And one of those pieces would shock you to your core, Adam. Just thinking about what face you would make when or if you find out gives me chills. It's a secret that only a handful of us in our organization knows. I'm tempted to tell you, but... you're still very early on in your career as a Diamond Fox soldier. So maybe I won't tell you just yet. But when the day comes that I do... oooh-hoo-hoo... that will be a fun day to look forward to." He said with a disturbing chuckle.

Adam felt shivers going down his spine. He didn't like that Gomez held so many advantages in his favor while he himself had none.

"You're insane. Just like the rest of your group." He said in defiance before Gomez suddenly punched him across the face. "No, Adam! I... am a visionary and a man of art!" He shouted as Adam spat blood on the floor. "And soon, when Goliath is unleashed on the city, the world will remember to fear the horror and terror that follows behind it! The terror and the horror of Metal Gear! And when all of the world remembers, then all of society will collapse! And my organization and I will be all that remains to bring order! And when someone or anyone decides to rise up against us, like God, Goliath will strike them down before they can even do a single fucking thing so we can keep that order!" He preached while standing in front of Goliath, but Adam just continued to glare at him.

"And you, Adam..." He said turning around to face him. "You will be kept alive to be reminded everyday of your failure that will be today. How you failed to live up to the expectations of Diamond Foxes, Commander Silverburgh, Rogue, your entire team and Snake himself. And how you failed to save all those innocent people that are standing just above us this very moment." He said trying to taunt Adam and demoralize him.

But Adam steeled himself. "If I am to fail to day, Gomez, then I will everything in all of abilities to make you suffer twice as much as those people that you intend to hurt. And if you think you're creative, then trust me when I say this, I am just as creative than you are. If not more." He said to Gomez with fire in his eyes as they both glared each other down.

Then Gomez began to smirk before he burst into a laugh. "Hahahaha! See, Adam?! You've got more fire in you than any of those other candidates had! You've got a spirit that I have only ever seen and read about in one other person." He said to Adam with sheer excitement, but Adam remained quiet and continued to glare at Gomez.

But Gomez just chuckled before looking at the Ripper then motioning his head at Adam.

The Ripper walked up behind Adam and began to drag him out of the room. The chair legs scraped against the floor as Adam was dragged away.

"You better hope I don't get out, Gomez! Because if I do, I will ruin everything you have planned! You hear me?!" Adam shouted as he was dragged away. Gomez just chuckled as he walked back up to the console and began typing in the codes again.

"I expect nothing less from you, Adam. You're just too much fun, kid."
