A/N: Good day to you all!
Shout out to the fans who have figured out this arc's Dragon Ball based villain.
Hot take of the day (or night)! Canon in RWBY deserves to be changed by the fans. And I will happily accept that challenge when the time comes. Plus… Canon to an extent in One Piece also deserves to be changed. Because Akainu is an asshole. And so is Blackbeard.
Another hot take…
The ideal Fairy Tail game. Though the series finally got a game that made it to consoles, I'm sure there are other developers who could have taken it a step further. There are three options if I were these companies and considering making a Fairy Tail game.
Option A) Dragon Ball-style fighting game (Budokai, Budokai Tenkaichi); Progress through the entire story where the heroes of the Fairy Tail cast face off against a roster of villains, all of whom are unlockable characters for arcade or online.
Option B) Square Enix-style adventure/fantasy game; The Kingdom Hearts series, FFVII Remake and FFXV would be worthwhile foundations to go off of in my opinion.
Option C) One Piece-style game; Pirate Warriors… need I say more? In Pirate Warriors 3 and 4, you're able to address the story while fighting off a mass of enemies before fighting bosses. There are arcs in Fairy Tail where there are armies or groups present that the mages have to fight. I'm pretty shocked no one considered a similar formula for producing the Fairy Tail game.
I have not played the Fairy Tail game on PS4. But I am considering getting it just for curiosity alone.
Onward with the story!

Natsu, Lucy and Happy's Hotel Room
Evening/Night
After some fun in the sun, Fairy Alpha returned to their rooms for food and a bit of rest. In Natsu and Happy's case they decided to take full advantage of the room service that was offered to them. Following their return to the room, Lucy allowed for Natsu and Happy to shower (after forceful persuasion) before taking one herself and deciding to nap while contemplating night plans.
Natsu and Happy decided to occupy their time playing board games and cards while Lucy slept. A few hours later, the sun had already approached the horizon leaving the outside in near darkness. Happy sat in the living area munching on fish while Natsu was lying on the bed with his hands behind his head. Apparently, Lucy wanted to cap their first night off by going downstairs for entertainment. Natsu and Happy agreed, allowing for Lucy to doll herself up somewhat for the night out.
Natsu, blankly looked to the ceiling as he listened to Lucy hum in the bathroom. Though he cared greatly for his partner, in a sense that was growing beyond that of mere friendship, Natsu could never and probably would never ever understand the obsession with makeup and perfume when it came to women. Oh well…
Lucy was a natural weirdo so it just made sense to him.
"Yo Luce! You done yet?"
The sounds in the bathroom suddenly stopped. A few seconds later there was shuffling before the door opened and out stepped Lucy. Natsu felt a burning desire after getting a whiff of Lucy's scent. While lying on the bed, the salmon haired teen heard Lucy approach before feeling a pressure on the bed. Before he could even a look, a towel was thrown in his face, momentarily taking him off guard. As Natsu sat up, he felt a weight settle over his midsection. Having a good clue as to who was on him, Natsu propped himself up using his elbows before ripping the towel away from his face.
Although annoyed, Natsu aimed a curious gaze to his partner who was looking down at him mischievously. Lucy was dressed in a button up top with no sleeves and had the shirt tucked in. In addition to that, she had on star shaped earrings, wore golden bracelets on her right arm, decided on wearing a black skirt for bottoms and opted on wearing her new golden sandals for footwear.
It was a good mix of casual and classy, Lucy decided. The outfit was also a good eye catcher with regards as to who Lucy wanted to notice her.
With her hands splayed on Natsu's chest, Lucy smiled in a way that sent a shiver down the Dragon's Slayer's spine.
"Oh I'm sorry Natsu. Don't tell me I caught you by surprise?" Lucy queried.
With a bit of effort, Lucy used the heels of her palms to push Natsu back to the bed, causing the Dragon Slayer to splay his arms out wide. Looking off to both sides, Natsu then smiled before looking up at his partner.
"Hmmm, maybe." Natsu answered with a shrug.
Lucy giggled a bit before using her hands to open up Natsu's vest (or sleeveless waistcoat). The blonde lightly dragged her nails down her partner's pectorals and down parts of his torso. Natsu also kept his hands busy, as they were slowly rubbing Lucy's thighs. For added surprise, Natsu used a miniscule amount of magic to warm up his hands past his normal body temperature.
With steady blushes, the mages continued their light ministrations before it got a bit more intimate. Lucy closed her eyes and let out a pleasured sigh, adjusting her hips over Natsu's. The Dragon Slayer and Celestial Mage kept smiling at each other, their eyes not leaving each other for one moment. Deciding to take a bold leap forward, Lucy pressed her hands to Natsu's chest and leaned down. Natsu moved one hand to Lucy's hip and the other moved some hair out of her face. With lidded stares, light smiles and full-blown blushes, the mages found themselves spellbound.
"What are we doing Natsu?" Lucy asked.
Natsu let out a rumbling chuckle, his breath tickling Lucy's face. From what Lucy could tell, there was a scent of cinnamon from Natsu's mouth that seemed quite appealing.
"To be honest Luce… I have no freaking clue. But I like it." Natsu answered.
The way Natsu's canines seemed sharper upon inspection and glinted in the room's lighting, also appealed to Lucy. Her partner's sharp teeth was just so…
("Mmmm… Sexy.") Lucy thought while biting her lip.
Lucy got closer while Natsu gently cupped the back of her head. Their breaths started mingling and their eyes were starting to drift to a close. This wasn't a complete confession. Not really. But they had built up so much trust, so much connection to one another that neither could deny what they had established. All those glances, brushing of the hands, and displays of affection could finally culminate into this moment.
"Good answer Dragon Boy… might as well give you a reward." Lucy gave in a husky reply.
"I like the sound of that Princess." Natsu told her in equally husky agreement.
It was finally going to happen. Screw the night of entertainment when the pair could entertain themselves in their hotel room. Two young mages, teenagers, running off of the trust they had built and hormones, were about to make out with their furry mascot and friend eating fish in the living area.
Hell of a first kiss and make out session if you asked either of the duo.
And just as they were about to seal the deal, their lips brushing in contact and breath mingling…
"What'cha doin?"
With furious blushes both mages ceased what they were doing. Lucy sat straight up, hands kept on Natsu's chest. Natsu quickly managed to move the hand on Lucy's head to her hip. Clearing her throat, Lucy looked over her shoulder to see Happy smiling and standing in the doorway of that connected the bedroom to the living area.
"Nothing Happy. We were just talking." Lucy responded.
"Yep." Natsu supplemented.
Happy tilted his head, humming for a moment before allowing the thoughts to come to mind. Two mages, all alone in the bedroom, that led to some risqué thoughts that caused Happy to place his paws over his mouth.
"Doesn't look like talking to me." Happy refuted with a snicker.
Natsu could only feel an irritable twitch on his brow, his blush still present. But he couldn't help but think how cute Lucy looked with her puffed cheeks as she looked put out and frustrated. That's when the teasing began.
"Lucy and Natsu sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!~"
Happy yelped while expertly dodging a pillow thrown his way. The blue feline snickered before flying off to the door that led to the hotel hallway on their floor. Lucy glared in Happy's direction before looking back down at Natsu. With a frown on his face, Natsu peered up at Lucy curiously. Grinning mischievously, Lucy quickly leaned down then licked Natsu's lips before hopping right off of him and fetching her purse.
"We'll definitely continue this talk another time. Try and keep up Salamander!~" Lucy teased before leaving.
Natsu sat up, clearly surprised and had not seen that move coming from his sometimes conservative partner. The teen licked his lips for just a taste of Lucy before touching said lips with his hand. Slowly taking his hand away to form a fist, a grinning Natsu looked to the door.
"That clever little minx! I'm gonna get her back for sure." Natsu declared excitedly.
Erza's Hotel Room
That dream again. That damn dream.
It wasn't a dream.
It was a nightmare that reflected a previous life. Her life before Fairy Tail.
Erza stared very hard at her reflection in the mirror. She had been wearing her bikini when she came back to her room, made some lemonade and took a nap. Even with her accomplishments as a citizen and a mage, the bonds she made in Fairy Tail and all her hard work, she couldn't forget her past.
The redhead sighed before bringing her armored hand up. She clenched and unclenched it several times before holding it out in front of her. Erza continued to look herself in the eye through the mirror.
("I have to come to terms eventually… this can't go on.")
Erza took a deep breath before letting loose a sigh. She let her hand fall to her sigh before glancing away.
("Even though I consider myself a top-class swordsman, I always feel so safe in my armor. If I am to ever grow from this, I must face and erase the demons of my past. But how?")
A knock made Erza perk up before she turned towards the door.
"Yes?" she answered.
The door opened to reveal Lucy, her purse on her right side. She smiled brightly as she closed the door and approached her friend.
"The boys went down to check out the Casino downstairs. Figured we could cap our night with some fun. You interested?" Lucy inquired.
Erza took a thoughtful posture while humming. She smiled for a moment, thinking maybe a good distraction was in order. The scarlet haired swordswoman could properly work her issues out later.
"Although I've never been one for gambling, I suppose it can't be helped can it?" Erza joked.
Lucy watched as her friend twirled around, light and smoke enveloping her. Once it died down, Erza was revealed to be wearing heels, long sleeved gloves and a purple dress with red roses on it. Lucy sweatdropped as Erza struck a pose.
"That's one way to dress up for a night out." Lucy commented.
Erza checked her hair before striking another pose.
"To be fair, it would be an injustice to appear in a casino dressed in a manner not befitting of the atmosphere." Erza clarified.
Lucy just smiled and shrugged. The blonde turned on her heel and pumped a fist into the air.
"Sure. Now onward to the fun! Time for Mama Lucy to make some money!" Lucy cheered.
Erza chuckled as Lucy left the room. Before making a move to follow her teammate, Erza turned back towards the mirror and admired her reflection a bit longer.
("One day I can erase those demons. But for now, I can enjoy the freedom that I achieved for myself. If only you were all here to enjoy that freedom with me…")
Erza smiled sadly glancing at the ground before proceeding to leave her room. The freedom she had enjoyed being a mage and a part of Fairy Tail meant everything to her. She had once hoped to share it with precious people from her past. Little did Erza realize, those precious people were much closer than she thought.
Bardock's Vison
Age 762, December 24th
Planet Namek
Bardock awoke to a vibrant green sky. He blinked a few times to get the grogginess out before raising his upper body off the ground. Groaning and holding his head, Bardock looked around the battered landscape to get a clue as to where he was. It was when he recalled the previous visions, Bardock's eyes widened in realization.
("This is Planet Namek. Home of the Namekian race and where those Dragon Balls originate from.")
Bardock was curious as to where the Dragon Balls originated from and what the whole story was. That said, his thoughts were occupied with the events that were happening on the planet. Getting to his feet, Bardock noticed he was clad in the clothes he went to sleep in. A green tank top, black sweats, and green boots (which he was sure had taken off).
Bardock cracked his neck before looking around, gathering his thoughts.
("Okay… before leaving Magnolia I saw the fights against Zarbon, Dodoria and the Ginyu Force.")
The Saiyan Rebel narrowed his eyes and growled.
("The Namekians were slaughtered, my grandson's mentor ended up being revived and all of Frieza's forces were essentially KIA.")
Although the PTO wasn't a formal army by any means they still adopted military slang and vernacular. Basic and Advanced Training was unorthodox given recruits came from across different galaxies, so training methods differed from race to race. How you were taught aided your chances in surviving the fight.
Anyways, Bardock was able to witness the full carnage of the battle against the Ginyu Force and only got glimpses into the fight against Frieza. Feeling a chill run down his spine, Bardock sensed things out before pinpointing several energies. Some were clustered together right next to…
("There he is!")
Bardock rocketed away from the rocky surface and raced towards the Battlezone in record time. In the matter of a minute, Bardock landed on an elevated platform with the best view. From where he could see there were two Namekians, his son's long-time friend, his grandson, the arrogant Prince of Saiyans and the sadistic son of a bitch he used to call his boss, albeit a taller version of him.
("That's his second form…") Bardock noted.
Bardock crossed his arms and simply watched the fights occur. Piccolo, Bardock noticed, looked different and seemed stronger than before. As Piccolo fought Frieza they seemed to be dead even, neither really giving any ground. But Bardock could tell that Piccolo wasn't panicking at all. From all that he had seen in previous visions, Piccolo seemed the more cerebral type, using his mind well enough to develop strategies and pick apart his opponents in real-time. That was definitely the case here.
After warming up, Piccolo shed his weighted gear and went to his maximum power, something of which made Vegeta seethe in jealousy. Bardock snorted at the Prince feeling inferior for whatever reason. One of the Saiyan race's pitfalls was assumed superiority over other races. It worked when they ventured the stars on their own but it was a moot point under Frieza's heel. Sure, you can slaughter planets wholesale or somehow convince the population to surrender on the rarest of occasions. But when someone like Frieza or his bastard father King Cold was around, the achievement of it all didn't matter.
Bardock watched as Piccolo put more power into his strikes and outmaneuvered Frieza to a point where he had Frieza in a corner. But the Saiyan Rebel knew this fight was far from over.
He was proven right moments later.
Piccolo had gotten uncharacteristically cocky in the fight. Instead of outright finishing Frieza off, he taunted him. It seemed being back on the Namekian homeworld and losing his people all in one go made Piccolo throw rationality out of the window.
Frieza ascended into a third more uglier form and proceeded to take Piccolo apart.
Unable to watch Gohan tried to intervene only to be knocked back. The smaller Namekian that was hiding, could only cower and tremble at the might of Frieza. Vegeta on the other hand was trying to strategize with Krillin. Bardock didn't have a clue of what they were saying but it was something that Krillin for sure didn't agree with.
Gohan seemingly snapped and charged in to save his mentor. The momentary power boost was Gohan's saving grace. He put Frieza on the defensive and actually pushed the tyrant to unleash more of his immense power. Frieza had proceeded to land, make some grandiose speech and initiate the stages of transforming into his true form.
("So… I will finally get to see that true form of his. Unreal…")
Bardock noticed his grandson had gotten his mentor out of harms way. However, Bardock's eyes widened when he noticed a flash off to the side. When the Saiyan Rebel saw a falling, wounded Vegeta and Krillin trembling with an outstretched hand…
("What the fuck?")
To make sense of it all, Bardock flew over and landed on a rocky platform that gave a better view of the battlefield. The Saiyan Rebel then noticed the smaller Namekian moving around and realized his value.
He was a healer.
Bardock watched slightly impressed as the Namekian child bravely navigated around a wounded Vegeta to attend to Piccolo. After healing Piccolo, the Namekian kid seemed conflicted as Piccolo must have had a convincing argument in healing Vegeta. Bardock understood the hesitance to help. Knowing the Prince based on the stories of his father the King and the previous visions, it was highly likely the royal jackass played a part in massacring the Namekian people. The reason?
("The Dragon Balls.") Bardock easily deduced.
The Namekian kid ended up healing Vegeta, receiving a harsh backhand as thanks. Vegeta stepped forward, ready to take Frieza on, only for a beam to race out from the dust cloud. In a stunning development, the beam didn't hit Piccolo, Vegeta, Krillin or even Gohan. Instead…
("He wouldn't…")
A blast erupted behind the four warriors, creating a large dust cloud. It took a moment for the warriors to realize what happened before turning around. To their shock and horror, the dust cloud settled to reveal a small body. For a moment no one said a word but the son of Goku trembled with agony and fury. Without preamble, Gohan found his energy and ran towards his fallen friend with tears at the corner of his eyes.
"DENDE!" Gohan cried out.
Bardock grimaced as he saw his grandson go to his knees after reaching Dende's side. A pang of sympathy went through him as he watched Gohan collapse on top of Dende's body and sob. Krillin simply looked to the ground with furrowed brows, fists clenched tight. Vegeta was speechless for a moment before returning his attention to Frieza, likely cursing himself for exposing a valuable asset and not feeling sympathy for someone he essentially used. But for Piccolo, it took everything he had not to lose it. He was now the sole surviving Namekian.
("So that's his name… sorry about your friend kid. You've now experienced Frieza's cruelty firsthand. Something I honestly wished would never happen. Not while I'm still breathing.")
What came next was a blur and a bit poetic in a sense. Vegeta, in whatever bravado he summoned decided he would fight Frieza all while claiming he was the Legendary Warrior known as the Super Saiyan. Bardock didn't buy it and knew that this fight would not end well for the Prince. He was proven right moments later.
For maybe a minute, Vegeta had been able to keep up with Frieza. But the attacks whether physical or Ki based, had no effect on Frieza in his true form. In fact, Bardock could see the signs that Frieza was simply toying with Vegeta. It all culminated when Vegeta launched his biggest and most powerful attack at Frieza only for it to not work. Vegeta ended being reduced to tears due to fear, frustration and failure. And Frieza took full advantage, attacking Vegeta viciously and rendering him almost broken. As if pouring salt on the wound, Frieza then used Vegeta as a punching bag in front of the trio of Piccolo, Gohan and Krillin. They had honestly given up hope and Bardock didn't blame them. Frieza came from a line of sadistic bastards that took glee in the suffering of others whether it be done by their orders or by their own hand.
But Bardock knew his youngest son wouldn't let them down.
Goku had recovered from the body swap incident with Captain Ginyu and returned to the battle energized and focused. But it came at the cost of Vegeta's life.
After arriving, Goku was introduced to Frieza and his power. He understood what his group had been put through and decided he would take it from there. Knowing the stakes, Goku stepped up and was more than ready to take Frieza on. That is, until Vegeta opened his mouth.
Bardock didn't bother getting close to hear what Vegeta was saying but it obviously irked Frieza. The Cold Tyrant fired a beam through Vegeta's heart, hoping to silence him. Goku was obviously appalled at the savagery and called Frieza out on it. Vegeta on the other hand used his dying moments to pass on a message to Goku. Once Vegeta had passed, Goku had done the honorable thing and buried Vegeta in a grave, likely giving him a good eulogy. Pride ran through Bardock's being at the gesture.
("That was a good thing you did son.")
After all had been said and done, Goku and Frieza began fighting. It was a high-speed affair that left Gohan and Krillin baffled. Piccolo was barely able to see everything while Bardock had no issues, at least at first. Goku and Frieza had spent the first few minutes measuring and gauging each other with regards to their respective power and technique. Once the warmup had ended, the two agreed to get serious.
It was a battle between juggernauts. The landscape had not been spared from the melee. Entire cliffs and small mountains had been demolished as the combatants turned up the heat. Goku would go on to use Kaioken in the fight, as Frieza had not utilized his full power to that point. They would continue to trade blows to the point the entire audience realized something.
("Even Kaioken isn't helping him. Just how strong is Frieza?!") Bardock thought frustratingly.
Even against the odds, Goku continued to valiantly fight Frieza, even after the tyrant had beaten him and nearly drowned him. But the despair truly set in when Goku decided to summon every bit of power he had to weaken or wound Frieza. So, the Saiyan Hero combined Kaioken with Kamehameha and attacked Frieza with every ounce of power he had left.
It didn't work.
Panting and exhausted, Goku then realized that Frieza had only been using roughly half of his power.
("Just how much is it going to take to beat that bastard?!")
Both fighters landed and Frieza, clearly irritated, launched a barrage of attacks on Goku that left the Saiyan reeling. Weakened and out of options, Goku raised his hands to the sky. Bardock thought his youngest son had lost his mind.
("Why is he holding his hands up? Is he surrendering? Something isn't right…")
The trio of Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan made no move to interfere in the fight. But the fight had stalled. Sure, Bardock had faith in his son but he had no idea what the man would be planning. Frieza waited for a bit before lashing out and knocking Goku back. The Saiyan Hero got back to his feet and put his hands back in the air.
Bardock then took notice of the fact that Piccolo was doing something. He didn't hear what he was saying but the next action took the scarred Saiyan by surprise. Krillin and Gohan started transferring their energy to the sole Namekian. But why?
("Kakarot has his hands up for whatever reason… Slug face is getting power from my grandson and my son's best friend… to what end?")
Bardock turned his attention back to see Frieza hounding his son yet again. When his son landed in the water, Bardock noticed something odd. He knew nothing of Namek's system, its moons or its stars. All he knew is that each time he visited the place in his visions, there was no such thing as night.
So, when the Father of Goku noticed a bright spot in the water, his eyebrows rose. He also noticed that Frieza saw the same thing. Both looked up and Bardock was surprised at the sight.
High in the sky was a bright blue-whiteish orb. It was comprised out of the living energy gathered from who knows where.
("Of course! It's the same technique he used against Vegeta just on a bigger scale!")
That technique, although it didn't deal the final blow to the Saiyan Prince, was still nothing short of trump card. A trump card taught to Goku by King Kai, something Bardock now remembers.
("The Spirit Bomb. A technique that gathers the energy of all living things within a specified radius. Key benefit is how powerful the attack is when fully finished and launched. Downside is it takes a helluva long time to charge. It makes the user and open target. And you need a pure heart to be able to perform it.")
Bardock watched in anticipation as Piccolo intervened. Despite the obvious power gap, Piccolo stalled Frieza long enough for Goku to gather energy. Gohan and Krillin contributed the last of their energy by blasting Frieza while aiding Piccolo. The Namekian who called Earth home fought on, buying precious seconds for Goku to charge the Spirit Bomb. With enough energy in his grasp and Frieza properly distracted, despite the fact he was about to end the battle, Goku launched the Spirit Bomb.
Frieza realized too late that Goku's ace in the hole was heading his way. Dismissing his patented and empowered version of his signature attack Death Ball, Frieza lifted his hands up and braced himself as the attack came into contact pushing him back. Goku knew what was to come next so he hit the deck, Piccolo going to the ground right next to him. Gohan and Krillin stayed on the cliff but ducked to the ground for cover. The sheer backlash from the attack seemingly threw the entire planet into whack. Elsewhere, unknowing to the combatants, Bulma Briefs was swept off her feet and held onto a rock for dear life.
Bardock didn't have a clue as to why he was being pushed back but took the skies and guarded his face to not go blind.
("I know interaction with these damn visions are limited but this is fucking ridiculous!")
Bardock couldn't see it but Frieza tried in vain to push the Spirit Bomb back. But the attack ended swallowing him up before slamming into the sea, setting off a tremendous explosion. The force of the detonation sent the four combatants flying and Bardock pushed back a considerable distance.
The Saiyan Rebel felt his defense give away and he was sent flying. He maintained consciousness long enough to correct himself and keep a strong enough position to avoid flying away again. The explosion died down and the environment of Namek was forever changed.
Bardock flew back to the spot of the impact and whistled in admiration.
("Damn… nice work Kakarot. That damn Kai taught you well.")
The next few moments were used to search what was left of the area for the four warriors from Earth. Bardock hovered high enough to look around for any signs of movement. After glancing around for a few minutes, Bardock spotted Krillin and Gohan emerge from waters and onto a small rocky platform. After a brief celebration, both took solemn satisfaction in the fact that Goku had accomplished what was the impossible as he had always done.
And even though Bardock was thinking along the same lines, he had this tingle in the back of his head that something just wasn't right.
Gohan and Krillin started feeling the area out for Goku and Piccolo. Before they could do so, Bardock was able to spot Piccolo grasping onto dry land. It wasn't long before Piccolo brought Goku onto land. Bardock looked to see Gohan and Krillin cheering before summoning what energy they had left to fly over and reunite with the duo.
Goku exhausted but smiling, looked up to see his son land before rushing him. Goku managed to brace himself, wrapping an arm around his son as the boy joyfully rubbed his cheek against his father's. After the reunion of father and son, Krillin got on Goku's other side to help him stand up.
Gohan on the other hand stepped away from his father before looking up to his mentor with a bright smile. Piccolo himself smiled and ruffled Gohan's hair affectionately.
Bardock landed just behind them and crossed his arms. That tingle was still there and Bardock was a bit confused as to why the vision was continuing.
("Something's not right… if Frieza is dead, then why am I here?")
"Well you guys… let's go home. I brought my spaceship here and it should only take a few days to get back to Earth." Goku declared.
His son's voice brought him out of his thoughts. Bardock could tell Kakarot had given his all in the fight against Frieza and his goons.
"Yeah! And we get to see Mom again!" Gohan added.
Goku chuckled at his son's enthusiasm.
"Yeah. Forgot to leave a note or say goodbye properly. I have a lot to make up for to your mother." Goku said slightly sheepish.
The group shared a collective laugh before a comfortable silence came over them. It was then Krillin had a thoughtful expression before freaking out. This had startled the others and Bardock stared at the midget in an expression of bewilderment.
"W-Whoa! What's wrong Krillin?" Goku asked.
Krillin looked to his best friend with a somewhat nervous smile.
"Man! After all that's happened I totally forgot about Bulma!" he answered.
"Geez Krillin… don't scare me like that. For a second there I thought Frieza had come back." Goku responded.
Krillin just had the most incredulous smile at his best friend's statement.
"Come on Goku. You know how Bulma is. When she's angry she's even scarier than Frieza!" Krillin remarked.
The whole group then erupted in laughter. Bardock cracked a smirk, silently agreeing with the monk. The Banshee that was Kakarot's mate and that spoiled blue-haired woman were two terrors he wouldn't want to tangle with on his worst day.
As Goku was laughing, he hunched over a bit while clutching his midsection with his free hand.
"Oww… geez don't make me laugh so suddenly. Can't even do that with sore ribs you know." Goku commented.
Silence then settled over the group as they looked out on the horizon. That funny little tingle in Bardock's skull started to rear its head again.
"Even with Frieza and his men gone, Planet Namek has suffered greatly. I hope and pray that Elder Guru, his followers and all the Namekian people can finally rest in peace." Piccolo spoke solemnly.
Although he didn't know who Elder Guru was, Goku simply nodded with a soft look. The planet and its people didn't deserve this fate. Maybe if it were possible he could wish them back. After all, with Piccolo alive so was Kami.
"How do you know about Elder Guru Mister Piccolo?" Gohan asked curiously.
Piccolo just looked to his student. He had no response at the moment. Bardock noticed a subtle shift in the air. Something that felt… wrong. He furrowed his brows and uncrossed his arms before looking to the monk.
All color had drained from Krillin's face as he was shaking like a leaf. He looked like he had seen…
Head snapping in the same direction, Bardock gritted his teeth and his eyes widened in recognition, slight anger and fear. Standing atop the rocks with a damaged tail, clearly even more pissed off than before was none other than…
"IT'S FRIEZA!"
Bardock's fists tightened to a point he would have drew blood. The entire group was shaken by the fact Frieza had somehow escaped death.
("The Spirit Bomb is one of the ultimate techniques against the very essence of wickedness or whatever! How in the hell did he survive?! It shouldn't be possible!")
Goku reluctantly got into a stance while taking a shaky step to shield Gohan. Piccolo too barely got into a stance before he and Bardock noticed something. A beam was emitted from Frieza's finer, shooting at a speed which could not be caught or deflected. When Bardock noticed the trajectory…
("Kakarot!") Bardock thought in alarm.
But his worries were diminished in what happened next.
Seeing the threat, Piccolo simply reacted without thinking. Knowing the attack could more or less be fatal, Piccolo shoved Goku out of the way taking the beam attack to the right side of his chest most likely piercing his lung.
In what seemed like slow motion, Goku and Krillin fell to the ground watching Piccolo do so as well. Gohan ran and slid to Piccolo's front while the Namekian was on his side. Goku quickly got to a knee and right behind Piccolo. With a panicked and shocked expression on his face, the Saiyan hero shook the Namekian who had looked after his son for a year.
"Piccolo! Piccolo can you hear me?" Goku frantically yelled.
Tears trailing down his frightened face, Gohan also shook his mentor.
"P-Piccolo! Don't leave me again! Please!" the boy pleaded.
"You know… that really hurt. If I wasn't so careful I would be dead."
Goku, along with Krillin who had gotten to his feet, whipped their heads to look at Frieza. The Cold Tyrant had not yet even lowered his finger, one eye barely open and tail wriggling around behind him.
"Although I applaud you for such ingenuity, all you've succeeded in doing is making me quite angry." The tyrant growled.
Angered and determined, Goku rose to his feet and stood his ground while shielding the trio behind him. Even Bardock felt anger rise in him and a sense of pride at the fact his son would fight on. He still had faith Kakarot would triumph but things were grim at this point.
Not even looking behind him, Goku steeled himself for what was about to come.
"Krillin listen up…"
Krillin perked up, glancing at his best friend.
"Take my son and Piccolo, find Bulma and get to my ship. All of you have to get as far away from here as possible." Goku instructed.
Both Krillin and Gohan were shocked and horrified at the implication. Bardock of course eyed his son warily. He had seen this song and dance before.
("Last time a guy with wild ass hair faced down Frieza… well, I'd rather not think back to that day.")
"Dad no!" Gohan tearfully refused.
"Y-You can't be serious man! I'm not going to leave you here by yourself!" Krillin stammered in rebuttal.
Though he had been proud of both his son and best friend for their efforts on Namek, now was not the time for bravery. Now was not the time to present a united front. Right now, Goku needed his best friend to fulfill a role that he hated leaving to others… protecting his young son. A son who had experienced too many horrors at too young an age. Guiltily, Goku thought back to the time he lost with Gohan. Turning back, Goku looked long and hard so he could memorize his boy's face. The guilt, happiness, joy, sorrow and anguish ran through Goku's soul. He then got angry before whipping his head to Krillin. His son was not dying here! Not today!
"Get out of here Krillin! I couldn't look Chi-Chi or anyone we care about in the eye if you all died! There's no time to argue!" Goku shouted.
"And who says I'm going to let you leave this planet alive." Frieza sinisterly declared.
Goku whipped his head back to Frieza who fired a small little orb. Although he was a natural telekinetic, Frieza sometimes liked to add a little flare to his attacks. But instead of taking out the Saiyan, he was going to take something precious from him.
The orb hit Krillin who was pushed back and awaited death. Krillin had closed his eyes when the supposed attack hit but opened them to see he was off the ground not of his own will. Surprised and stunned, Goku and Gohan looked back to see Krillin flailing around.
Frieza with a snarl, utilized his right hand as he lifted Krillin high into the air. As he took off into the air, Krillin shut his eyes and screamed in terror.
"Krillin no!"
"KRILLINNNNN!"
Goku ran to a spot on the small island where he stared completely up, helpless to do anything. He then looked over his shoulder at Frieza.
"No! Let him go Frieza!" Goku pleaded.
Frieza did not heed Goku's words. Bardock felt his own helplessness give way to an unbridled rage. If he had looked at a reflection, he would have noticed his eyes flash teal if only for a split second.
Frieza slowly closed his hand like a claw once Krillin was brought to a certain height in the sky.
"GOKUUUU!"
That scream would be the last any would hear from one of Roshi's most prized students and Goku's best friend. The monk simply imploded from the inside, a violent explosion that gave way to smoke and tiny debris from the debris. Goku simply stared wide-eyed at where his friend once was, disbelieving he was gone. Gohan too stared before going to his hands and knees, despair taking hold.
"Pop goes the weasel." Frieza snickered.
Gohand's shoulders shook as he shut his eyes. This had been too much of a nightmare. They had all been so close to victory and just for it to have it ripped away. It wasn't fair.
"You monster…" Gohan whimpered.
Goku on the other hand looked down, standing ramrod straight with his fists clenched. Teeth bared, the Saiyan Hero of Earth thought back on the past. He remembered how Krillin was when they first met, snobbish, rude, competitive and about as pervy as Roshi. Yet, through training and the battles, Goku and Krillin built an unbreakable bond. Krillin had been Goku's second friend, right after Bulma who was his first.
Goku thought back to their first Martial arts tournament together.
Then the other tournament and the King Piccolo fiasco.
And then there was the emergence of King Piccolo's son, Junior who would go on to take his father's namesake and call himself Piccolo.
The reunion and introduction of Gohan…
The aftermath of the battle against Raditz…
The Saiyan Invasion…
All the battles on Namek…
"N-no… this… I can't…"
Bardock furrowed his brows as he looked to his son.
("Kakarot…")
Bardock took a step back, wide eyed as he saw something. A change…
"You'll… pay… for this…!"
The dark green sky, which was darkening even more, had golden lightning streaking through the air. A wind current built up starting slow before encompassing Goku's form. Frieza for his part was a bit baffled and curious as to what was happening.
"You'll pay! You. Will. Pay!" Goku growled.
The ground shifted, rocks breaking apart as Goku's boots sunk into the earth. His very body was also changing, gaining muscle and bulk that was more defined than what he had while using Kaioken. In the immediate area, the very water started to boil and lightning strikes were occurring more frequently. Gold encompassed Goku's body as sweat dripped and his hair swirled around violently. Veins in his arms and face throbbed as an unforgiving fury was reaching its peak…
"RARGGGGHHHHHHHHH!"
Throwing his head back, Goku roared across the Namekian landscape, his newfound power creating a shockwave that caused small tidal waves and a golden pillar to briefly appear where he stood. Bardock, Gohan and Frieza shieled their eyes to avoid being blinded. After uncovering their eyes, the audience stood agape at what they were witnessing. This power… this form… it was a legend, a myth that had become physical. It had become so real. Bardock was in sheer awe, as was his Grandson who steeled his nerves enough to finally stand up.
("I'll be damned…")
"D-Dad…"
"What?!"
Goku slowly raised his head before turning to glare at Frieza. His body and damaged Gi was encompassed by a golden flame it seemed. The Saiyan Hero's hair stood straight, gaining a spikey appearance with a handful of locks covering his forehead. Lastly, his eyes, to Frieza's horror… were a cold teal.
"Curse you Frieza! Now I'm Maaaaaaaadddddd!" Goku exclaimed enraged.
Goku's rage was now on display. No, not Goku…
("You can only push a Saiyan so far… until you get them to that breaking point. Is this Kakarot's true nature when pushed too far in a battle with high stakes? And just what the hell is this form? He's changed…")
Goku's power once again skyrocketed and it made Frieza still in fear and horror. It was almost as if what he was seeing was a nightmare made flesh. His worst dreams becoming a reality.
Growling, Goku looked to the fallen body of Piccolo, who he sensed was barely clinging to life. He then looked to his son, who was looking at him in awe, admiration and maybe even a hint of fear.
"Listen closely Gohan, you need to take Piccolo, find Bulma and go. I will settle things once and for all." Goku instructed.
Gohan shook himself out of his stupor, still looking up at his father with wide eyes.
"But Dad… I…"
Hesitance had killed Krillin. In addition to that, not listening to Goku had also cost him his life. It would be a cold day in hell before Goku would needlessly allow Gohan to be put in harms way. Sure, he wanted nothing more than his son to learn to be a strong fighter like him but he wasn't going to allow his son to risk his life in his fight. This was his fight to finish.
For the Namekians and his friend Piccolo…
For Vegeta and the Saiyans whose lives were ruined being essentially slaves to Frieza and his family…
For his best friend Krillin…
And for all in the galaxy and across the universe who were victims of Frieza's organization…
Goku's fists tightened, and he flared his power.
"Do it now son! Do it while I can still control myself! Go now!"
Gohan startled at his father's tone, backed down. He was smart enough to know now that he shouldn't argue. That hesitation cost Krillin his life and precious time that could have spent escaping. Gohan would not make that mistake again. Putting on a determined expression, Gohan gave his father a nod.
"Yes sir…" Gohan acquiesced.
Goku hated yelling at his son. He believed strongly that he should never have to raise his voice with his son unless it was training. Anger never helped anyone and taking it out on his son would stay with him. Krillin's death affected him deeply. He softened his expression a bit as he watched his son gather Piccolo onto his back. Goku could not be prouder of his son. He had done his part on Namek. Now, it was Goku's turn. Goku hardened his face and turned back to glare icily at Frieza. The Saiyan Hero had missed his son glancing back at him before lifting off and flying away.
As the distance increased between Gohan, Piccolo and the fight that was to commence, Goku felt his fists get tighter. Bardock spared his fleeting grandson a glance, thankful he was spared anymore of Frieza's cruelty. The Saiyan Rebel turned his eyes back to his youngest, eager to see justice done for all the horrors Frieza caused.
"Go. Fly on my son." Goku urged quietly.
Goku fully turned his body, arms slightly bent as he bared his teeth.
"You've always gone too far again and again… and now you've taken my best friend Krillin."
The very ground shook as Goku let his rage take full hold, going against all logic and reasoning. This fight had become personal.
"It's over! Friezaaaaaa!" Goku roared in righteous fury.
The flaming aura erupted, blinding Bardock to a point where he had to shield his eyes again. But unlike the first time, the light did not cease. Bardock felt that familiar feeling when a vision was about to end…
End of Vision
Bardock's Hotel Room
Bardock shot up, hand covering half his face as sweat dripped down his face. He breathed heavily as the room's lighting shone brightly over him. Trembling, Bardock dragged a hand down his face.
"… damn."
That vision was more than words could describe. He had seen many things in his time alive. Bardock had also experienced many things while a soldier. But that vision? What he saw? It was too crazy even for him.
"That power… could it be…?"
A while back, Bardock heard a story while at a bar with his team. Some grunts were spouting nonsense about the legend of the Super Saiyan. The story always varied from person to person, but the legend always talked about a great warrior who rose against opposing Saiyans, attaining a great power that surpassed that of a Great Ape.
Bardock swung his legs over the edge of the bed and composed himself. Looking at his bare hands and feet, Bardock did an experimental flex of his muscles and digits. He took a deep breath before standing up, walking into the bathroom and turning the lights on. He leaned on the countertop, turning the faucet in the sink on and not bothering to look up just yet.
Those damn visions he was cursed with, had always given some clarity. They had shown him his son's ultimate destiny as well as the life he had embarked on since landing on Earth. A life that wasn't meant to be his by design until fate took hold.
If anything, he may not have been a typical Saiyan but Bardock was more than proud of the life his son led. Kakarot had fought for what he believed in, created numerous bonds and sought adventure that not many got to experience. Peering up to look at his face, Bardock noted how much more rested he seemed despite the vision.
Gripping the counter, Bardock's face hardened, and his eyes shone with determination.
"I don't know what exactly that was… but my son has that power. A power to end Frieza once and for all."
Washing his face off, Bardock opted to cap off the night by taking a walk along the beach. But as he walked out of the bathroom, Bardock felt something… or more like an absence of something.
Furrowing his brows, Bardock extended his senses out to all levels of the resort. In doing so, he discovered that only three members of Fairy Alpha were present with two moving away from the resort on the water and the signatures of some of the patrons being smaller.
("Wait a minute… where the hell is everyone?!")
Eyes narrowed and growl bubbling in his throat, Bardock quickly slipped his boots on and burst from his hotel room. Sprinting down the hallway, Bardock avoided a few guests and some of the staff.
"Dammit!"
Resort Casino
After arriving, Bardock slid to a stop before his eyes widened. Blinking a few times, Bardock looked around to see cards on the floor along with damaged property. Avoiding the cards, Bardock walked and inspected the casino as he looked for the members of Fairy Tail. A short moment of walking produced the results he was looking for.
Bardock stopped before crossing his arms, face transfixed in a scowl. Standing in a half circle were Lucy, Natsu, Gray… and some blue haired chick wearing a very fancy Fairy Tail chain. Clearing his throat drew the mages attention and they all snapped their heads his way.
Raising a brow, Bardock had only one question for them.
"What the hell did you do?"
…
Open Seas (Off the coast of Fiore)
The Tower of Heaven
Sitting on his throne, a young man took great comfort in the night sky.
This great project that had taken so many years, was now very close to coming into fruition. So many years of hard work, meticulous funding and the acquisition of necessary personnel to help with construction and security now came down to this.
Head perched on his fist, face shadowed by his hood, the young man let out a curious hum as he saw one of his men enter.
"Sir! We've received confirmation that Erza Scarlet has been captured and the retrieval team is returning!"
The young man smirked and let out a soft chuckle.
"Although I am curious sir, why are you bringing back this traitor?" the messenger questioned.
"My oh my… why ask such a question of your employer? It's almost as if you doubt him."
The long-haired man paled several shades. Sweat dripped down his face as he turned to the shadows where an cloaked, armored figure emerged.
"If you were under my command, I'd punish you for insubordination." The man threatened with a grin.
Shaking like a leaf, the messenger turned his attention to his chuckling boss.
"You must be under the impression that I simply want her executed for her transgressions in the past. That would be no fun!" the young man proclaimed.
The cloaked man crossed his arms, opening the cloak to show his strange armor and furry brown belt.
"With the tower complete on schedule we can proceed with no issues. Time is finally upon us where we will use her to our needs before disposing of her. Yes…"
With a gleam in his eye, the young man lifted a hand and summoned magic in his palm.
"She will become the sacrifice to my ambitions. And finally aid me in achieving my dreams. Ascension is finally upon us all…"
The messenger simply bowed before making haste in his exit. His boss unnerved him at times but that strange man with the armor? He was bad news. The further away from his he was the better.
After the long-haired messenger left, the armored man turned to the young man on the throne.
"You should assert yourself more kid. If you aren't too careful, you'll let your subordinates walk all over you." the older of the two cautioned.
The younger man simply waved it off.
"Relax my friend. Those poor fools very well know the pecking order. They won't mess with me, my assassins or even you. Hell, I would even go as far to say they're a waste of magic energy if we were to kill them." The young man said.
"Even so…"
The armored man glanced at the younger man.
"Should I start dispatching the troops to deal with the incoming force?" the armored man asked.
At this, the youngest of the two started laughing before settling down. The armored man smirked, knowing the young man in the overcoat was not laughing in condescension or malice.
"No. The games shall begin soon once the pieces are all in play. Besides, I am honestly looking forward to seeing the progress of Fairy Tail's Salamander firsthand." The young man answered.
Though the chamber was barely illuminated, the armored figure could clearly see the youthful face of his mutual ally. On his face, vertically designed down the right side was a red tattoo.
"So, I request that you and your men stay your hand for now… Turles."
Turles this time laughed out loud before settling down. Uncrossing his arms, the mysterious Turles simply hovered in place before shifting his position to one side of the room and fading into the shadows.
"As you wish… Jellal."
Jellal continued to smirk as he sat on his throne. With his tower complete, his dreams were soon to be a reality.
Victory was near…
A/N: Cut!
Lucy wore a formal outfit to the casino in the Anime. In the manga she went casual like Natsu did. So, I decided on a cross between the two just to make things easier.
Bardock's vision was a mix of what fans saw in the Manga, Anime, Dragon Ball Z Budokai and Dragon Ball Z Kakarot.
And yes! Turles is the big bad for this arc. Him and his crew the Crusher Corps. Is he stronger than his movie counterpart? Yes, by a wide margin. After all, he's a Saiyan. That and his benefactor made sure he maintained his strength beyond the level he was at when facing Goku.
As always, I appreciate the support and love you guys have shown this story and the others. Updates are coming for the other two stories I have published and are currently working on.
