I don't own anything besides Harmony Gilbert.
I am closing the poll. It was between Finn and Kol. I flipped a coin and Kol was the winner! I will do another Vampire Diaries fanfic with Finn as the love interest after this VD story.
I also wanted to apologize for the previous chapter. It wasn't my best. I had a hard time trying to figure out how Harmony would tell Tyler that Mason was dead. I tried. Hopefully, this chapter would be better.
Chapter 26 - Daddy Issues
Well, a lot has happened. Stefan began to drink a shot of vervain every day, Jules has Sherif Forbes sending out a missing people report for Mason, Damon had to kill Rose since she was bitten by a werewolf and was hurting people. The one thing she never wanted to do. Caroline texted me that Tyler kissed her, and Stefan let Uncle John come back to Mystic Falls and I am so happy with that. Now, here I am getting ready for the day.
~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~
I put on a long-sleeved gray and white striped shirt, tucked into a black skater skirt, and black flats. For my makeup, I decided to only apply mascara and pink lip gloss. I let my hair down and wavy, and was about to go make breakfast for everyone when Tyler called me. He said that he confronted Caroline and found out she knew Mason was dead. He asked if I knew about her lie. I told him the truth and said that I had my suspicions, but didn't act out on them. He wasn't mad at me and asked me to meet a friend of Mason's, named Jules, later. I told him that I was busy today with performing a song for the memorial, and once we hung up the phone I went downstairs to the kitchen.
Uncle John was already in the kitchen. The pot of coffee already made, and he was making himself breakfast. I smiled at him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Good morning," I told him.
"Morning. Coffee?" He asked me.
I shook my head as I went to open the fridge. "No thank you," I said pulling out the orange juice from the fridge.
I placed the mild on the counter and pulled out ingredients to make scrambled eggs, pancakes, and bacon. I had just finished Aunt Jenna's food and packed it up with a to-go cup of orange juice when Elena came into the kitchen.
"Morning," Uncle John said.
"Why are you doing here?" Elena said rudely.
"Coffee?" Uncle John said.
"No. We did that last night. No more avoiding. Why are you here?" Elena said.
"I'm here to protect you," Uncle John said, "That's all I am going to say right now."
"What does that even mean?" Elena said.
Without even looking up from the food I was cooking I said, "He doesn't trust you, Elena."
Just then, Aunt Jenna and Alaric came into the kitchen.
"Oh, God. I'm late," Aunt Jenna said as I passed her her food and drink.
"That's what you get for hitting the snooze 3 times," Alaric said.
"What the hell?" Aunt Jenna said as I passed Alaric his food as well.
"Good morning to you, Jenna, Alaric," Uncle John said.
"It's okay. I'm confused, right? Because we were not expecting you like ever," Aunt Jenna said.
"Well, I got in late last night. Elena let me in," Uncle John said.
"You know, I'm just gonna take off," Alaric said, "Thank you, for the food, Harmony."
Alaric left and there was an awkward silence before Aunt Jenna said, "I'm still confused here."
"I decided to come back and stay awhile," Uncle John said.
"Not here, you're not," Aunt Jenna said.
"Actually, you can't stop me from living here," Uncle John said.
"Actually, I can as the legal guardian," Aunt Jenna said.
I finished with Jeremy and Elena's food as Uncle John said, "Yeah about that. Um, Elena, You want me to explain the situation or would you like to do the honors?"
"Ok. What's going on?" Aunt Jenna asked.
"I'm sorry, Jenna. I should've told you sooner," Elena began before Uncle John cut her off.
"I'm Elena's biological father," Uncle John said making me pause, "There. Now, you both know."
Uncle John left the kitchen, and I turned to face my sister in disbelief. How could she not tell me!? Jenna had to go and left the house. Elena turned to me and the look of disbelief on my face.
"Harmony, I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I was just scared to tell you," Elena said.
"Sure," I said turning back to my food. I plated the breakfast, turned off the stove, and took mine and Jeremy's up the stairs, "Your breakfast is on the counter," I yelled from the stairs.
~ WITH TYLER AND JULES ~
~ Tyler's P.O.V. ~
I had just told Jules about my encounter with Caroline, and how much I was hurting. I also told her how only one of my friends told me truthfully what had happened to Mason. She seemed intrigued about the last part.
"What's this friend's name?" Jules asked me.
"Her name is Harmony Gilbert. She's never lied to me before. Harmony is kind, very smart, gives people the benefit of the doubt, and is always there for everyone. No matter what they do to her," I told Jules.
Jules was quiet before she gave a small smile.
"I would like to meet her," Jules told me.
"She's busy today. My mom asked her to sing a song for the memorial today," I told her.
"That's fine. I can meet her another time," Jules said.
~ AT THE MEMORIAL ~
~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~
I stood in front of the grieving people and waited for my song to start.
~ SONG STARTS `
(Someone you loved -Davina Michelle Cover)
'm going under and this time I fear there's no one to save me
This all or nothing really got a way of driving me crazy
I need somebody to heal
Somebody to know
Somebody to have
Somebody to hold
It's easy to say
But it's never the same
I guess I kinda liked the way you numbed all the pain
Now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
And I tend to close my eyes when it hurts sometimes
I fall into your arms
I'll be safe in your sound 'til I come back around
For now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
But now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
~ SONG ENDS ~
When I finished the song I looked up and saw my Uncle John give me a small smile. He hasn't heard me sing since I was a little girl. I got off the stage and walked up to my Uncle John. He hugged me when I got close.
"Your parents would be so proud," Uncle John said.
"Thank you," I said.
"Want to grab some lunch with me?" Uncle John asked me.
"Sure," I said and the two of us headed for the Grill.
~ AT THE GRILL ~
We entered the Grill, and I spotted Aunt Jenna with Alaric. I gestured in their direction and Uncle John followed me to their table.
"Hey you two," Uncle John said, "You think we can join you?"
"Do you have to?" Aunt Jenna asked.
"I guess I don't have to, but I guess might as well," Uncle John said.
Seeing Aunt Jenna ignore him, I grabbed Uncle John's arm and said, "We don't have to sit here, Uncle John. We can sit somewhere else. I wouldn't want anyone feeling uncomfortable, or think that acting rude is okay."
I saw Aunt Jenna twitch at my last comment and ignored her as Uncle John spoke.
"Look who's here," He said gaining our attention.
Elena arrived at the Grill with Damon. They came to us and Damon pretended to be nice.
"John it's good to see you," Damon said.
"Hey, Damon. Good to see you too," Uncle John said.
I sat and ate food with Uncle John, and after a while, John left to alter that was in the Grill. I could see Damon talk to him, and was worried. When Uncle John came back, we relaxed a bit before I saw Elena drag Damon in the restroom.
"I think something happened, Uncle John. Elena and Damon went to the restroom in a hurry just now," I said.
We both got up and went to the restroom. Uncle John opened the door.
"Do you mind?" Damon asked.
"Is there a problem?" Uncle John said.
"No," Elena said making me narrow my eyes at her. She ignored our presence and told Damon, "We have to save Caroline."
"What happened with Caroline?" I asked worried for the bubbly blonde.
"You are not going anywhere. I'll take care of it," Damon said to Elena before turning to Uncle John, "First dad-duty, ground your daughter. Keep her here."
Damon left and Uncle John prevented Elena from following him.
"You're really keeping secrets from me again? Do I have to read your Journal again, Elena?" I asked crossing my arms.
Elena looked down before saying, "It doesn't concern you, Har. Just stay out of it."
"I don't know the meaning of those words, Elena. Something is happening to someone I care about. It concerns me," I said to Elena before looking up at Uncle John, "I'm going home. I can't stand looking at my big sister knowing she's keeping things from me."
"Harmony," Elena said but I ignored her and closed the door.
~ LATER THAT NIGHT ~
I was sitting on my bed, reading in my Pikachu pajamas, when the door opened and Uncle John came in the room.
"Hey," Uncle John said.
"Hey," I said putting the book down.
Uncle John sat on my bed and said, "I have something for you." He pulled out a necklace. "It was your mother's."
He placed the necklace in my hands and I held it with shakey hands. My lip was twitching as I tried not to cry.
"I gave Elena your mother's bracelet, so I the necklace I give to you. She would want you to have it," Uncle John said.
"Thank you," I said as I hugged him.
"Your welcome," Uncle John said before kissing my head. We stayed like that for a moment before he released me with a, "Get some sleep. Goodnight."
"Goodnight," I said as he closed the door.
Starring at the necklace in my hands I put it on before getting ready to fall asleep. However, Elena entered my room and told me that we needed to have a sleepover at Caroline's tonight. I grabbed a bag and placed a change of clothes and grabbed a pillow. We left and met up with Bonnie and the three of us made it to Caroline's house. She was happy to see us and we gave her a big hug.
That night was filled with tears, laughter, and a sense of calmness.
