Bella
Thank the Goddess for magic..
I screamed as I dropped through the air, my body twirling head over heels while my arms flailed. Down down down...
And stop.I didn't hit the ground. Instead I just stopped. A defense mechanism. Slowly I opened my eyes and found my nose not even an inch from the dirt. I shuddered, exhaling loudly and pushed my hands out to right my body.
I'm aware I'm an idiot and I'm aware that I gave Ward shit for this, but the idea of a bunch of teen witches being accidentally slaughtered scared me. I had a very vague idea of a plan.
My hair had been torn from its clip and I was peeling strands off my face so I could see. The once perfect curls were now just frizzy and tangled. I could feel curious stares on me as I had landed right in the middle of the ritual.
"B?" Victoria came into sight as I lifted hair from my eyes.
I squinted at her. "The fuck are you wearing?"
Her face burned to match her red hair and she straightened up, lifting her chin at me. It was her I will not be bullied expression. What I was inquiring about was the floor length sage green Renaissance gown she wore beneath a heavy gray cloak. It suited her.
She wasn't the only one wearing the cloak, either. I did a casual turn, seeing the faces of a bunch of young teen girls and Laurent (who glowered at me.) They looked their Sunday best beneath the cult uniforms, but not to the extent of Victoria. I turned back to face her, mentally noting that I didn't see the vampires Edward had mentioned.
Behind Victoria was an alter. It had to have been summoned here, magically placed as it was a great big marble slab surrounded by vases and silver dishes. I recognized all of it. She was going to recreate the spell I used to bring her back, to tether her. The ten point star was burned into the dirt beneath the alter. On said slab was a very naked Jacob Black. He stared at me, unmoving and expressionless and if not for the tears leaking down his face I would have thought he was dead.
"So you found the werewolf warlock? Werewarlock? Wolflock?" I tried out various words, smoothing out my now torn skirts. "Thats a doozy."
"What do you want, Bella?" Victoria sighed, hands on her hips. "Dont you have a silly prom to be at?"
"Yeah, yeah I did...and then I find out you kidnapped my buddy." I shrugged. "So naturally, I had to come rescue him."
She snorted. "You're too confident. It's you versus me and my coven."
"Is this a coven? Or a Girl Scout meeting?" I jabbed a thumb over my shoulder to indicate the gaggle of Jr. High girls. "Is Laurent the den mother?"
Victoria stared at me with suspicious green eyes. "Where's your vampire?"
"Where's yours?" I shot back.
Her lip twitched. "With me." She touched her collarbone, eyes turning somewhat distant. "He's tethered to me. We were about to start, then you came through the top." She nodded upward to the sky. "Either you're here to stop me or join me."
"I figured the invite would be closed." I admitted. "After I slapped you like a bitch."
"I'm more forgiving than you." She shrugged and she was right. It was always this way. I stared at her and for a minute, I didn't see her as she was now. I saw her as a ten year old, too small and round faced with a dusting of freckles. Her red hair was in two braids down her back and she grinned toothily at me. For a minute, we were both ten year olds grinning at each other. B and V.
The minute ticked by and I blinked away the vision of the knobby kneed kid I had grown up with. She seemed to do the same, looking away pointedly.
"Did you mean what you said? About us being on top?" My voice was thick. "We wouldn't have to hide?"
Her eyes brightened and she nodded.
"I could be with Edward...in the open? We could...do things the mortals can?" My voice took on a lofty tone.
"Is that what you want? Really? To be out and not have to hide your true self?" Victoria asked softly.
I stared at Jacob, biting my lip. He couldn't blink, but more tears welled in his glassy gaze. Begging. Pleading.
"I miss you. Alot." I admitted to Victoria. "I
do want it to be like before. It really isn't the same."
"Come." She beckoned me forward and I did, taking her hands. We hugged and I buried my face in her thick red hair. "We can do so much with James as our leader. As our patriarch."
Oh, fucking barf.
I stared at Jacob over her shoulder. "Just tell me how I can help." I whispered and pulled away, dabbing at my eyes.
"Help me channel James." She still held my hand as she guided me to the alter. "With you here, it will be faster. Kill the werewolf, Bella." She said as I stood above Jacob's head.
I squeezed my eyes shut. A memory, from long ago. "Why would you hurt it?" Victoria was hysterical over a butterfly, sobbing violently as I had scraped the remains of it off my shoe.
It was an accident! I had yelled at her.
She went from crying over a butterfly to killing strange boys. I lifted my gaze from Jacob's slack face to the so called coven. Young faces, girls no doubt chosen because they were alone. No covens to begin with or covens that weren't very good at all. They stared at me, too. Some looked eager, anxious. Others kept glancing worridly at Jacob. Laurent continued to glower at me, arms crossed over his chest.
"Bella?" Victoria reached out over Jacob's body. I looked to her outstretched hand, at the athame. It was long and shiny and unused before. A virgin blade. I licked my lips. She was testing me now, seeing if I'd actually do it.
I took the knife from her, inspecting it. "Do you remember...when we Ascended?"
"Bella." Victoria urged quietly.
"You bloomed late." I reminded her. "You were so mad, stomping around the house for weeks and trying to summon things. I remember your grandma and mine talking about it. They were worried you wouldn't Ascend at all, that maybe you were one of the few..."
"Bella!" Victoria blanched.
"They were going to send you away." My voice wavered. "So...we faked your Ascension. They had no idea I was hiding behind the curtains. They thought you were the one to blow up the vase. We faked it pretty good for a few weeks until you finally did Ascend..."
"What are you doing?" She demanded.
"I always thought you were my soul mate, the other half of me." I flipped the knife in my hand, rhe blade landing in my palm. "I thought we would rule the world together."
"We still can!" She was looking nervously at the knife in my hand.
"I've done...so much for you." I gritted out and flipped the knife again. "It wasn't enough. It won't be enough when you ride on your boyfriends coattails. It won't be enough when you have a crown on your head. You will never stop and you'll hurt whoever you want."
"Do not pretend you're innocent!" Victoria screeched at me, slamming her hands down on the alter near Jacob's thigh. "Dont you dare pretend you haven't fucked up!"
Laurent rushed to the alter, angry. "She is stalling!" He snapped at her.
I lowered my hand to Jacob's forhead, cupping it. A deep shudder raked his body.
"You can't shadow walk out of here." Laurent snapped at me. "You fell through, sure, but you are stuck. Either join us and kill the beast or die. Your choice."
"Laurent!' Victoria seethed.
"What does our master say?" Laurent scolded her. "Have you been blinded? Are you deaf now, stupid girl? Reveal our master and let him guide us."
I continued looking at Jacob, humming to myself as I mused over what to do. I could feel that door Charlie was talking about. It was muted, hard to detect unless you were looking for it. It was sort of like being in a dark room and there was a single bulb flickering nearby. It was dim, but you could hear the electricity buzzing in it. That's what the door felt like, a buzzing.
"What do you plan to do with the doorway?" I asked Victoria. "Sal taught us never to fuck with anything from hell."
"Sal isn't here." She snapped, pushing away from the alter. "She was never here. We'll unleash soldiers from hell to take over. We'll slaughter thousands, we will take what is ours!"
I laughed. "You're so dramatic."
Victoria huffed at me. Behind her, a form shimmered into existence.
James.
I had to say he looked better as a vampire. I mean, he wasn't much to look at while a vampire but now he was just your typical middle aged white dude with a bad haircut. He was dead, but so was Elizabeth so what the hell was his excuse?
Instead of the nomadic outfit he wore when I burned him to a crisp, he wore a long red robe over a dark tunic and pants. His long hair was loose around his shoulders. He watched me with such hatred in his eyes, then he stepped through Victoria.
She shivered.
"I have waited for this for centuries." He seethed. "I will not let this be ruined by a little girl with abandonment issues."
"Hey! That's woman with abandonment issues!" I shot back at him.
He tsked and began to circle the alter. I dropped a hand down to Jacob's shoulder, gripping his hot skin with my fingers."What was your plan, Isabella? Hm? Come in here, fake nice with your sister? You can't break Laurent's wards. You can't escape this dome. You can't stop us. Victoria is channeling my magic, she over powers you now. We have vampires guarding us, sympathizers with our cause. You're alone in here. You might as well die with the brown boy."
"Wow that got racist." I looked down in Jacob's face. "And you seem to underestimate my kick ass plan making skills."
"Oh?" He scoffed and did another round. "You bore me, child. Victoria." He grabbed her around her arm, able to pull her towards him. "You wanted to prove your devotion to me? Kill her."
I leveled my eyes with Victoria as she snapped her gaze to mine. Fear. Panic. "I dont...I dont think..." She choked out.
"She is an obstacle. She is holding you back. Kill her!" He growled before ducking down and kissing her.
Oh, she has it bad. I watched as she melted into his ghostly form as if he were somehow solid. I didn't doubt she loved him. I just doubted he loved her for more than she could give him. They were so close. I focused on the energy, the tether tying them together. The thing keeping him here.
I could snap it, but not right away. They were right. I didn't have time anymore. I couldnt very well shad out, either. So I did the most horrible thing I could think of.
Laurent stood not one foot from me, unaware of the knife I held in my hands. I flipped the knife again until it the hilt rested flat in my palm and then I lifted it, raising my arm and I slammed the blade deep into Laurent's throat.
His body jolted backwards and I yanked the knife out just as blood spurted outward, coating my hand in it. Within the same moment I pulled the knife from his throat, I shot out my other hand and sent him flying backwards.
The vampires Edward mentioned suddenly appeared, coming from behind wood stacks and shadows, going right for Laurent's body as he rolled in the dirt. Viscious, snarling sounds came from the four males as they ripped Laurent apart.
"No!" James roared, tearing away from Victoria.
The witches all screamed in terror as the vampires tore into Laurent's body. I gotta say, it was not pleasant to look at. Blood and gore flew everywhere as the cultists scattered.
I dropped the knife, looking up as Laurent's wards began to flicker and tear down and then just vanish. He took his magic with him in death.
Before I could throw a protective shield over the witches to keep them from the vampires, I was flung back as Victoria screamed at me, her hands shooting out. I flew fifty feet across the yard, my back slamming into one of the many tall stacks of lumber. I cussed and slumped to the ground.
"Bella!" Edward's roar sounded over the entire yard, a deep and furious sound.
Victoria stalked towards me, angry tears spilling down her face as she summoned two balls of green energy into her hands. Combat magic.
I rolled to the side just as she threw one at me, the ball of green colliding with the wood. Splinters and flames shot everywhere.
"You will not ruin this!" Victoria threw the other ball and I ducked out of the way of that one, too.
I drew the magic from the air, forming blue balls of plasma. I threw it at her and she dodged it, just barley. I heard a wolf howl.
Edward appeared, snarling and enraged and looking oh so fuckable in his suit. "Bella!" He roared again, coming towards me.
Victoria shot a ball of green flames at him. I deflected it, sending blue to crash against it just before it hit his face. He jumped out of the way regardless.
"Get Jacob!" I yelled and used both hands to fling Victoria into the air. I was expecting her to skid across the ground. She didn't do that. Instead, she hovered in the air like a graceful fairy godmother and flew.
"Oh, shit--" I shaded out of the way as she unleashed green hell fire. I reappeared on the other side of her. The spot where I stood before was now swarming with the green flame, scorching the earth there.
"Bella!" Ward called again.
"GET JACOB!" I commanded angrily and shaded out of the way of another downpour of fire.
Edward
Bella appeared at the top of one of the lumber stacks and began to chant in Latin, flinging balls of energy and flames at Victoria. I ached to scoop her up, to take her away from all this and to protect her.
Bella could protect herself at the moment. Jacob could not.
I turned.
The young witches were fighting against the wolves and the few members of my family who could handle the smell of blood. Alice removed Jasper all together from the fight. Carlisle was ducking and weaving, trying to avoid burst of sparkling magic while Rosalie engaged in a fight with one of the vampires. Emmett was handling another, ripping easily into him.
"We won't hurt you!" Esme cried at one of the girls as the witch used magic to levitate and shoot lumber at her. She rolled to the side and bounced back up, becoming frustrated.
"Oh yeah?" The girl yelled. "Like I'll believe that!"
I flit to the alter, finding Jacob's paralyzed body on display. I shucked off my jacket and laid it over his lap to keep his modesty before sliding my arms beneath him.
Edward? Oh, thank God. Oh, thank fucking God. I thought I was going to die. For a minute I thought Bella was gonna kill me, man. Oh, fuck!
"I got you, buddy." I promised and lifted him gently. He was much larger than me and if I had been human, I would not have been able to lift him.
I turned and stopped, staring at the short haired girl from the roller rink. She stood alone, arms crossed, near the alter. She looked at me like I was something distasteful, unworthy. It's the vampire...Victoria said he brainwashed Bella...he can control minds...can he control my mind...I have to open the door to save us...
"Listen to me...Bree." I plucked her name from her mind. She stepped back. "You cannot open those doors."
"You're going to kill us. Like Laurent."
"No. No, Bella came here to save you and our friend." I assured her. "She wanted to protect you."
"Liar." She pulled something from her cloak. A binder. Above, Victoria soared through the sky while Bella ran past on the ground, still dueling.
"I trust Victoria." Bree said this and believed it.
"Then you're a fool."
Her face hardened and she opened the binder.
I cursed and flit past her with Jacob in my arms as the child began to chant in Latin. The air went still. As I passed the gates, I found Charlie getting out of his car with the battle axe. Billy got out of the passenger seat and rushed to take Jacob from me. I slipped him into Billy's arms, who then swept him away from me quickly.
Oh, fuck don't leave me with Dad when I'm like this! Jacob pleaded. Edward, come back!
I ignored his request in favor to go stop Bree. I grabbed Charlie by the back of his jacket and took him with me, blurring from his cruiser back to the alter.
"Whoa!" Charlie shook his head and we ducked down as colorful magic grazed the tops of our heads.
"Quit being a bitch!" Bella screamed as Victoria soared through the sky, running past us again.
Bree had the binder open, chanting with both hands above her head. Behind her, I watched as reality split. A crack in the air, visible because of the bright red light shining through it. I wasn't in favor of hitting young girls, but she was summoning a doorway to hell. I simply...shoved her and grabbed the binder, throwing it at an inhuman force across the lumber yard and somewhere in the forest beyond.
Bree was still chanting, pulling herself up with a look of determination. The crack widened, just a bit more.
"Oh, shit." Charlie pulled the axe up. "Hey! Kid!" He spun the axe expertly in his hand. "I spent years keeping that thing in check! Cut it out!"
"Do you have this?" I demanded.
"What? Yeah, go!" Charlie grunted and made a move toward Bree. He began to chase her around the alter while she continued chanting.
I turned and swooped in to help Emmett dispatch the last vampire. As he had him in a headlock, I ripped his head from his neck and tossed it at one of the vampires Rosalie fought. It knocked him forward, allowing Rosaie to snap his neck. The body fell limp. Maria was gone and now all that remained were the teenaged witches fighting. I planned to find Bella, to aid her with Victoria but it seemed Victoria found me. I rolled up my sleeves as she hovered ten feet over me, a look of utter rage on her face.
"You!" She was panting. Her skirts and cloak flapped in the wind, her hair curling upward. "You ruined everything you bloodsucking bitch!"
"Find a new word!" I snapped and shot into the air, grabbing onto her cloak. She cried out, shooting higher into the air as I got my arms around her before she could use magic to get me off.
Then I snapped her neck.
We fell, her body limp in my arms. I released her just as I landed back on the ground in a crouch. Her body hit the ground with a disturbing thump.
Victoria was dead. I turned to the witches, holding out my arms. "You see your leader? She's dead! Go! Go home to your mothers!"
The witches were surrounded by my family and the few wolves who showed up, circling them to keep them in check. They stared past me, eyes wide and mouths slack. Behind me, Charlie yelled.
I turned just in time to the see split open. The smell of sulfur and smoke bellowed out and from inside the crack I could hear inhuman screeching.
The thing that came from the crack could only be made in hell. While it was the size of a human in height, it was not human at all. The creature looked like a very large bat in the face, it's mouth gaping open to reveal snake like fangs. Instead of fur like a regular bat, it was covered in reptilian scales. It had bat ears but the ears were much larger than they should have been. It's wingspan flared out at six feet, it's spindly fingers capped by long talons.
The creature landed on the ground and began to crawl on its clawed feet and spindly hands towards Charlie, who hoisted his axe up. The creature charged him.
"Charlie!" I stepped towards him but was flung to the side. Alot of flinging in this fight.
I hit the ground, rolling to the feet of Carlisle who helped me up. I watched as Victoria's body rose from the ground, her head at an odd angle as she slowly turned to face us.
She smiled despite the broken neck. "You think this is gonna stop me?" She grabbed the sides of her head and forced her head back into place on her neck, a disgusting bone cracking sound following the movement.
Internally, Carlisle began to pray. He pulled Esme close to him, shielding her.
"Thank Bella for this." Victoria rasped, shedding her cloak off her body. "Her magic over did it but it's more useful to me..."
Another screeching. Another bat creature forced its way out of the crack, it's leathery wings flapping as it soared over Charlie while he gutted the one that had been attacking him.
"You don't even care what you're doing, do you?" I yelled at her. "You're bringing hell to Earth!"
"Good!" She exhaled and fixed her skirts.
"Victoria!" Bree cried out for her. "Help!"
Victoria didn't even seem to hear.
One of the bat creatures had seized the girl in its claws and was trying to take off with her, flapping its wings. She threw magic at it and it dropped her but came back.
"Its attacking your coven!" Carlisle roared. "You don't have control over these things!"
Charlie threw his battle axe at the creature, slicing it in half. Bree dropped back down to the ground and a shower of black blood smothered her.
One, two, three, four...more bat creatures squeezed their way through the crack. Carlisle and I went to go help Charlie until Victoria threw up a wall around us, a transparent dome much like the ward from earlier.
"Its going to kill them!" I seethed, beating my hand against the shield as we were forced back. The shield had covered my family, the witches and wolves and now she was shrinking it with us inside. We tried to push back but it was stronger than us.
Bella! Bella! Bella!
Where was she?
Bella
I woke up slowly, my head throbbing harder and harder as I became more aware. I groaned, pinned beneath a heavy weight. Pushing against it, I realized it was the lumber that had fallen on top of me when Victoria sent me plummeting into it.
How the hell was I not dead?
Bella...Bella...Bella!
Edward's voice was frantic, in need of help. Bella Bella Bella...
Sucking in a sharp breath, I shaded out from beneath the weight of the wood. Because of the stunning ache in my head, I momentarily forgot where I was and why. I lay suspended in the Void, eyes shut. It was almost like a bath.
Bella, love, please... Edward whispered softly in my ear and I felt my body warm in the cold void.
I exhaled and shaded back to my reality, landing several feet away from the alter. I had double vision, the result of a concussion. I gripped the alter, hoisting myself up despite the pain in my side. I gripped it, groaning.
"Bells!" Charlie was next to me, shoving me back down to the ground and I watched as a giant bat demon grabbed him beneath his arms and took off into the sky.
"Dad!" An alertness filled me and I shot blue magic upward in an arc, splitting the creature down the middle. Charlie dropped back down, landing on his feet. He grabbed me, lifting me up and looked me over.
"Bella, your head." He touched something on my hair. "You're bleeding."
"Okay." I swayed. "Did we win?"
He blinked at me and turned me around to face the doorway to hell that was open. "Does it look like we won?" He demanded as another bat creature crawled out of it.
"Oh shiiiiiittt." I used magic to blast it backwards. It went screeching, vanishing back into the red. "Victoria is really strong."
"I know." He drew me into a hug. "Bella, we need to stop this."
I nodded.
Bella Bella Bella...
Oh, fuck Edward
I turned around and through blurred vision I was able to spot the Cullens being squished together with the witches and three giant werewolves. I stumbled forward and Charlie picked up his axe again, rushing past me to expertly fight a creature that had landed near Victoria.
Edward was behind a shield of green magic, squished between Rosalie and Emmett as they tried to fight against it. They were grunting and yelling, the witches were screaming. I stumbled a bit more, swaying and tried to throw another ball of magic at Victoria.
It didn't even reach her.
She laughed at me, maniacally. Like she was a villian. She was a villian. I fell forward on my hands, my eyes drooping shut as a tiredness washed over me. I opened my eyes to watch my blood drip off my nose and puddle on the ground.
"Bella!" Edward begged. "Bella, no! Don't shut your eyes! Don't shut your eyes!"
I licked my lips and forced myself to look up. Victoria was stomping towards me. I couldn't see my dad anymore. I couldn't see much of anything anymore
"I have a wonderful idea!" Victoria kicked me onto my side and grabbed my bare ankles, dragging me back to the alter. "Wouldn't this be a wonderful idea?"
"Wait..." I breathed. I guess that wound on my side was worse than I thought. I hadnt even realized I was bleeding out. As she dragged me, my head tilted in the dirt and I saw the heavy blood trail being left behind.
"It'll be a little weird at first." Victoria was talking to James. He stood over the alter as she used magic to lift me onto the slab. "But we can get over it. Being a woman isn't so bad, really."
Oh. Oh shit.
"Dont." I groaned, pushing against her weakly as she pinned my arms down. "Dont...fucking do this to me."
Victoria ignored me and a new knife appeared in her hand.
"Just be done with it!" James snapped at her and she brought the knife down.
I grabbed her wrist, only able to move her arm in another direction. I let out a hoarse scream as the blade sank deep into my shoulder instead of my heart. I threw my head back against the stone slab, stunned by the pain of getting stabbed. The bitch finally did it.
"No! No! No!" Edward was roaring, screaming.
Severe the tether.
I let go of her wrist, allowing her to twist the knife deeper. I shot my hands out to her chest, over her heart.
She didn't realize what I was doing.
I could see the tether, the string that tied James to Victoria. It was a thick, black cable. Powerful. Somehow, some way, I sliced it with a mere thought. The moment the blackened coil fell to pieces, I looked into her eyes as she realized what I had done to her.
"No." She choked. Her head snapped to the side, to stare at James. "No!"
I looked, my head falling to the side just in time to see James give Victoria a horrorfied look.
"Ego eieci te ad infernum." I rasped the words. I banish you to hell.
James's ghostly form was brutally yanked backwards. He vanished into the crack.
"No!" Victoria wailed.
With the last of my strength, I clung to her and shaded us into the Void.
There, in the hanging darkness, I threw her away from me.. She flailed her arms, scratching her hands at me as she tried to hold on. Through hooded eyes, I watched as Victoria was swallowed by the darkness.
Edward
We were going to die.
The shield was crushing us together, forcing our bodies against each other. The girls were screaming in pain as some of their bones were cracking, ribs bending and breaking from the pressure. The three wolves had hurriedly phased into their human forms to save space but were quickly regretting even coming to this fight. When their bones broke, they revealed quickly to break again.
I could feel Emmett against me, the pressure of his chest being pressed against my back causing a painful crack up my spine.
None of that mattered.
I watched in horror as my beautiful, broken Bella was laid out on the alter in Jacob's place. I watched in horror as Victoria buried a knife in Bella's shoulder. I watched as she put her hand on Victoria and as she sent James to hell.
Then they vanished.
As soon as they did, so did the force field that was killing us. Like water being released from a dam, we all spilled out onto the ground.
There was a rushing in my ears, a roaring sound as I flit to the alter. I fixated on the pool of blood Bella left behind, staring at the spot and willing her return.
She didn't.
Minutes ticked by. Someone touched me, I think. I waited, holding my breath for the girl I was so painfully devouted to.
"Bella?' I called weakly. With a shaking hand, I reached out and touched the blood with my fingers and brought her scent to my nose, inhaling deeply.
If she wasn't returning here, maybe somewhere else?
I began to flit all over the lumber yard, calling for her. Soon, other voices joined in. I neared the front office, which was now destroyed. Charlie climbed from the rubble, dragging a bat creature by its tail. "Where's Bella?" I demanded of him, as if he would know.
"Give her time." Charlie's voice was hard, dragging the corpse back to the door. "I have to close this door."
I flit away, further and called for Bella again and again. Somehow I ended up at the gates, looking around. "Bella!" I called again.
She should be back. Where would she have gone? I had to have faith in her, that she could defeat Victoria...what if she didn't, though? What if she now lay dead? I saw her. She was bleeding from a wound in her side, from a concussion on her head. There were so many factors to what could happen to her and...and I wasn't with her.
I wasn't with Bella and she could be dead.
"Bella!" My voice took on a wavering tone as I screamed for her into the night, striding right passed Jacob as he sat up in the bed of a truck brought by one of the wolves.
At a loss for ideas, I flit back pass him and to the group of young witches that relented to Carlisle checking their wounds.
"Help me." I singled Bree out.
She sat on the ground, her face buried in her knees. "Why should I?" She growled.
I crouched beside her, snarling. "Because if you don't, I will kill you."
"Edward!' Esme sucked in a sharp breath, horrorfied by me. She crouched on the other side of Bree, staring at me hard. "She's a little girl!"
"She knew exactly what she was doing when she opened that door." I growled. "Bring me to Bella."
Bree began to cry. "I dont know how."I stood up, shaking.
"I don't even know where they went!"
My eyes drifted across the lumber yard. Pieces of vampires and bat demons littered the ground, lumber stacks had been dismantled and blasted to bits. Charlie stood in front of the crack, holding his axe in front of him. The blade was glowing, the crack was closing.
Still no Bella.
I decided I would search the entire town. I'd go door to door, house to house, building to building. I would search the woods, the waters. I would not stop until Bella was in my arms again.
"Edward." Rosalie touched my shoulder softly. "Edward..." You need to prepare yourself if she didn't make it.
"No." I scoffed. "Not my Bella. My Bella is fine. I just need to find her."
I'm so sorry.
"She's fine." I insisted. "She's fine."
Rosalie nodded and released my shoulder. Emmett wrapped his arms around her. I left the lumber yard, looking both ways down the dirt road.
"Hey, Edward!" Jacob wobbled from the bed of the truck. I briefly paused. "Did you get my moms binder?"
"What?' I demanded.
"My mom's grimiore. Maybe we can use it to find Bella." Jacob clutched my jacket to his groin. "Its gotta have a tracking spell or something, right?"
Oh, my goodness I was a dumbass. Of course!"You're a warlock." I ripped my necklace off my neck and flit to Carlisle's car where he kept a collection of road maps in the glove compartment. I retrieved the one needed and returned to the truck.
I thanked God for vampire's perfect memory.
"What are you doing?' Billy demanded. He had been checking on the wolves who nearly died, all half naked teens who looked seriously disturbed. "Jacob, I said no magic."
"Its to find Bella!" Jacob snapped as I used a pen to scribble the words Bella had chanted down.
Billy opened his mouth until the female wolf, Leah, spoke up. "Cut him a break, Chief."
I nodded thankfully to her as Billy fumed, turning around to make a point not to watch.
It took him a few tries, but Jacob was able to say the words with enough ease. I laid the map out and like earlier, used it as a pendulum. Jacob's hand covered mine and we watched as if swung in a circle.
Yes. Yes.Charlie had closed the door and came to find me, peering around me as the locket spun swiftly. Then, the chain pulled tight and the end of the locket stabbed onto a spot on the map.
"Where is that?' Jacob demanded, his heart racing in his chest. While his concern for Bella was dominant, he was thrilled. He had just done his first spell.
I grinned, relieved.
Bella was in our meadow.
I tried to write this as clear as possible. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, really. I apologize if there's any plot holes, my mind has been so frazzled today and I've been on sort of a writers high.
Please leave a review and don't forget to follow me to read the sequel WICKED WAYS.
