Chapter Twenty Eight
Hobi POV
"Yoongi is going to be in Texas, the lady who has him is Destini." Kelly explained as we were gathering ourselves into the car at long last. She quickly backed out of the parking space and headed towards the highway. A drive from Ohio to Texas would be a couple days at least, another long haul. I was in the front passenger seat, while Jungkook and Taehyung and Jimin were all in the back seat, with Jimin in the middle. I was still worried about him, and constantly checked in with him. His fever had only broken yesterday, and he was still weak from his and Taehyung's ordeal. But his determination to find the others overruled any self consideration.
Right now we were eating our breakfast of Mcdonalds. Taehyung was already done and was sleepily leaning against the window while Jungkook was making sure Jimin was eating all of his hashbrowns. I set my trash down and zipped up my hoodie, also pulling the blanket up around myself. I leaned back in my seat, my eyelids feeling heavy. I glanced back at the others as I heard all the crinkling of papers and movement stop. Jimin had his whole body leaned up against Taehyung, his eyes closed as his soulmate tucked the blanket around both of themselves. Jungkook was also drifting to sleep, leaned onto the door panel, a blanket hugged tightly against his chest. Everyone was tired from the early morning, the warm air conditioning, blankets, and full bellies making it impossible to fight sleep. I leaned against my seat again, pulling the blanket over my head. This two day trip would be mainly us catching up on sleep.
Yoongi POV
I lay on my back in the small cage, my arms folded on my chest. The men hadn't come back for almost 12 hours, and it gave me a chance to sleep somewhat in peace. I was exhausted, my limbs felt like I had lead weights tighten to them. My energy was sapped and I couldn't think straight anymore. I unfolded my arms and lay them down, giving my shoulders a rest. My gaze drifted up to the ceiling and through the small holes in the ceiling. It was night and the stars were tiny twinkling dots in the vast darkness. It made me wonder if the others were looking up at these same stars somewhere. The moon was nearly full, and looked like a large, floating piece of cheese. I felt my stomach twist and let out a painful growl, the only sound in this silent cage. I moved my hand over my stomach, trying to ease the emptiness there.
"Damnit." I cursed under my breath. The moon had me thinking about all kinds of wonderful foods from home. What I wouldn't give for a huge bowl of Jajangmyeon. When was the last time I ate? 3 or 4 days ago? It was with the little old lady, and her butternut squash soup. Her little lemon pie had been amazing. I could imagine it in my mind, and I closed my eyes. I took a deep breath and let it out in a sigh. My stomach continued to growl loudly under my hands and I tried to think of something else other than food. It was almost impossible. I opened my eyes and pushed myself into a sitting position, leaning my back against the metal wall.
At some point in the night I had managed to fall asleep. I was woken up by the sound of the creaking metal door opening and Tom walking through the door with two of his goons. Only they had a folding table with them. The smell of noodles wafted into the cage and my foggy mind instantly perked up. I watched them set up what looked like a picnic there in front of my cage door.
"Good morning." Tom smiled, seemingly a whole new personality. I didn't move, only watched him carefully. It was only him, Cride, and Nix. They all took their seats around the table and set their bowls on it, full of what looked like some kind of noodle. I felt my mouth water as they started eating. The smells were powerful and only drove my hunger up the wall. So this was going to be their next tactic at getting information from me? I was starving, and they knew it. My gaze moved to Cride, who I noticed to be watching me. He was eating his noodles far slower than the others, and even seemed nervous.
"We brought you a bowl, you've only got to cooperate." Nix sneered, pushing a bowl closer to the cage. I didn't move, gave no hints of reaction. But my stomach was growling loudly under my folded arms, desperately trying to get its message across. I looked away, clenching my jaw as I tried to ignore my terrible hunger pangs.
"You sound hungry, you should give this a try." Tom gestured towards the bowl, clearly getting some sick pleasure out of this.
Cride POV
"You sound hungry, you should give this a try." Tom said as he motioned to the noodles on the table. Yoongi didn't move, not giving any signs of hearing him. The poor boy, I knew he was starving. I could hear his stomach growling even from the far side of the cage, it must be painful. Nix and Tom were enjoying this new idea of torture they had conjured up overnight. They weren't going to get anywhere, however. Even if Yoongi was desperate and lied to them, Tom would know. I had a feeling Yoongi knew that as well, which was why he wasn't moving. So now we were trapped in this cycle of torture. It wasn't sitting well on my conscience, knowing that this boy was suffering so horribly. He was already thin, I wasn't sure how much longer he could go running on empty.
"All you have to do is tell me where they are." Tom said calmly. "And that terrible aching in your belly will go away." Yoongi still gave no reaction, although I could see the glazed look in his eyes, like he was holding back tears. But he watched as Tom took the bowl and tossed it into the trash bag, collecting all the dishes. Nix and I stood as he folded the table, though I still held my half full bowl of noodles.
"We'll try tomorrow, see you then." Nix smiled and walked out the door with Tom and the materials. They were really just going to starve him. I sighed and shut the door behind them. Yoongi was watching me carefully still, his gaze tired but still focused. I walked to the cage and set my bowl inside and gave it a small push towards him. He hesitated but was clearly debating its worth.
"It's ok, just eat. You need to." I said and sat back on my heels. "I'm going to try and get you out of here." I found myself saying. Yoongi paused, but reached out and took the bowl quickly, downing the remaining noodles.
Yoongi POV
"I'm going to try and get you out of here." Cride said and I paused. He was going to break me out? I quickly took the bowl and gulped down the noodles. I set the bowl down, feeling some sort of relief of having something in my stomach. I was so hungry.
"Just give me time to figure something out." Cride said and I leaned back against the wall. I was still starving, but the noodles helped take some of the sharp edge away.
"What about Tom?" I asked quietly.
"Let me handle him." He took the bowl and quickly stood, walking to the door. "Just give me time." And he was gone. I rubbed my eyes tiredly, and leaned back onto the floor again. I just wanted to eat, sleep, and never wake up.
