KANIN

Gray eyes opened to discover his maker pressed against him. The sun had set and Godric was still out like a light. Concern influenced Kanin to fasten his arms tighter around the ancient, nuzzling their features together, "Godric." He called with worry, immediately relieved when awareness jerked his tensing maker and cyan eyes were abruptly gazing at him. The ancient unraveled, melting back against Kanin with an inactive incoherent murmur before his voice, rough and low voiced to Kanin with indolence. "Good evening, Mo shíorghrá."

Examining the serene expression in front of him, gray eyes traced the attractive features of his maker as he extended his arm to outline the runic band located on the elder's right bicep with his fingertips. He lowered his gaze to inspect the symbols, abruptly sheepish because of the persistent gaze of his maker.

"Good evening." He whispered back, "What did you call me?"

"Mo shíorghrá," Godric replied after a short moment, clearly teasing. Kanin chuckled and lifted his eyes to peer back at his grinning maker, "What does it mean?"

"It's Gaelic. My eternal love." Godric answered, reaching and touching Kanin's features with steady fingers. "That's so cheesy." The younger vampire laughed, finding the time to lift his head from the pillow to pursue the affection, chasing his maker's fingers. Rumbling with fondness when the hand cupped his face allowing him to rub his features into the palm.

"You're everything."

"You're full of it," Kanin responded, continuing to nuzzle and rub his face into his maker's hand, planting his nose into the center of the palm multiple times, inhaling the fragrance of Godric with uncontrollable purrs.

"Full of what?"

Marble gray eyes veered to peek at his maker and he laughed at the portrait of the elder's confused expression. "It means you're exaggerating."

Kanin answered only to nearly shriek when he found himself under the body of his maker with wide eyes confronting sea-green. "You honestly have no idea?" Godric commented before he displayed a bittersweet smile. "Feel."

The sliver of warmth was expanding, opening, and revealing the chaotic nature of Godric. Loyalty, terror, and love. Heartbreaking love. It was an unbearable love, a love that was a sharp blade cutting deep. It was agony and he was crying, entangled with his maker, full lips were meeting his and he was kissed. A kiss that he responded to entirely, gifting himself completely to the elder above.

The bond died down, closing back to the warm sliver, giving him relief from the overwhelming sensations of his maker and he became slack underneath the elder with slowing affection. The kisses were currently light pecks and licks against his swollen lips and a purr sprung forth from them both. Ultimately, Godric pulled back slightly and grinned down at him with affection present on his features.

Kanin opened his mouth but hesitated for a moment, "Is our relationship weird?"

"Weird?" Godric questioned, eyebrows raising high with full lips pulling down into a small frown while tracking a hand upward to play with Kanin's hair, hair that had long since grown to frame his face further and Godric rumbled with joy before scaping his fingertips up the side of Kanin's scalp, prompting the younger to shudder beneath him. "How so, my love?"

"Benjamin said that his maker was his father and that they didn't—" Kanin's voice trailed off and he stiffened underneath Godric, who couldn't stop the grin from taking shape on his face, "Fuck?" And he chuckled when embarrassment poured from the younger. "Yea, fuck." Kanin hissed with humiliation, features scrunching up with disgrace.

"So what does their relationship have to do with us?" Godric challenged, indolent, and relaxed above him. "Is it unnatural?"

Capturing the younger vampire's jaw, he lifted Kanin's head, confronting mortified, gray eyes with disgruntled features. "We are not unnatural, you are mine, little lover," Godric murmured, "Isn't that enough?"

A beaming grin took shape on Kanin's face, "Yes." He breathed and Godric released his jaw, cupping his face instead, provoking Kanin to nuzzle the side of his features into the elder's palm with a cheerful purr while his maker watched him with a narrowed gaze of fixation.

"Hungry," Kanin uttered, influencing Godric to chuckle.

NORA

Nora did not foresee the unfortunate catastrophe a few nights after the skunk incident. Naturally, this had to occur when Godric and Eric were tied up in their responsibilities while in the company of Aoi and his progeny, Benjamin. Eric was still King of the Louisiana state and he had obligations to fulfill. Godric was accountable for what occurred in the province he lived in, similar to a sheriff of the United States but without the crowded company of deputies. He had them... underlings scattered around the province that reported to him if a problem arose.

The vampiress didn't anticipate that a vehicle would break down on the main highway and somehow the mortal man, who owned it, would miraculously stumble upon her maker's residence and fall directly into the arms of her newborn brother. A newborn that had no control when blood was involved.

Kanin, who wasn't allowed to drink the blood of the human because of the maker command, and so he lashed out with flustration and animalistic temperament, beating the poor mortal against the trunk of a tree until a spine fractured into multiple pieces because of a temper tantrum. She was darting out of the dwelling, immediately observing the snarling, slender body of her sweet brother clenching the unfortunate carcass by the shoulders, and her mouth dried with ardor.

Kanin was beguiling. He was an aphrodisiac. Enticing without having to make an effort. The taste and fragrance of him was a philter that she aspired to become lost in and she observed the scene when he dropped the lifeless body before stepping back with widening eyes and hitching, needless breath. A pale hand reached up to rub at the front of his attractive throat, endeavoring to soothe the thirst he suffered.

Godric had performed bloodletting before Kanin woke from his dayrest, draining a substantial amount of himself so when the newborn was hungry, Nora could give him what he needed. The vampiress fretted over her maker's health internally as Kanin scurried toward her with unmanageable growls and she opened her arms to receive him.

He crashed into her, hands snagging her flanks with wide, gray eyes panicked and distressed. "I didn't mean to! Please don't tell Godric!"

Nora frowned, furrowing her brows before reaching to cup his tight jaw, stroking her thumbs over beautiful features that clenched upward with desperation and anxiety. The sour scent of fear emitted off of him, provoking Nora to tsk out a hiss. Kanin was upset and Godric would eventually react if she didn't calm the infant down. "Kanin, brother." The female cooed, pressing against him with reassuring purrs rumbling from her chest. "Don't fuss, father won't be angry. He won't be angry."

Arms fastened around her waist and she was crushed against the shaking body, in a tight hug before Kanin released her, backed out of her touch, and reached up to fist ebony hair in his hands, hissing with revealed ivory fangs. "I'm a murderer!"

Nora couldn't suppress the peal of laughter escaping from her lips and she gleamed sweetly with a tilt of her head towards her brother when he hurled a betrayed grimace in her direction.

"We are vampires, Snygging. Do you truly feel guilty or...are you clinging to human ideals that have nothing to do with you any longer?"

Kanin tensed under her gaze with scrunching features before he unraveled and lowered his hands from tousled hair. "I feel guilty for feeling nothing for the life I've taken." He replied in a low tone and Nora nodded before stepping closer and holding out her hand.

The vampiress didn't have to wait long because Kanin immediately snagged her hand with his, slipping fingers through hers and hanging on to her by a strained thread. She beamed with delight and pulled him forward, her other hand reaching to cup the nape of his neck before she tugged him down into a deep kiss and he moaned, alluring and wanting into her mouth.

A blood-curdling scream of a woman echoed in the distance. Too close! Nora pulled taut as both vampires jerked out of the enthusiastic liplock. "What is that?" Kanin hissed, veering a predatory gaze into the direction of the noise. The slender body that was pressed tightly against hers twitched with heightening instincts and he growled, low and ravenous for the mimicked outcry of a long-deceased victim. Using the strength and speed of her age, the vampiress snatched her brother off of his feet and threw his weight over her shoulder and it must have been a comical sight because he gasped, "Nora!"

A peal of laughter spewed from her lips and the vampiress turned around effortlessly, with the plan to enter the warm residence, and she palmed his rear end, perversely while he clawed at the back of her small stature, expelling adorable grunts.

"Put me down!" He yowled, embarrassed, slightly offended. "No, I think not. I would rather be trapped in silver for centuries before allowing you to run into the embrace of a wendigo."

"Wendigo?" Kanin questioned in between sweet noises and Nora slapped a cheek of his rear with brute strength, motivating him to yelp and fidget on her shoulder.

"Oh yes, brother. A cannibalistic monster much like a demon. A creature that could destroy you within minutes."

Nora felt bad. Honestly, she did. Frightening the newborn into compliance wasn't an act she wished to perform but she needed him safe! She required the assistance of fear to make him scrutinize, what could be, dangerous situations.

Godric would be displeased with her. Their maker didn't like utilizing the existence of boogymen to keep newborns in line but she was absolutely done with Kanin's horrible luck and if the ancient wanted to penalize her because she took matters into her own hands, so be it. Nora was not afraid.

"...Demon?" Kanin uttered before trembling against her shoulder. "Mhm. Wendigos are fiendish creatures. They dwell in the dark mines below the mountains that you're forbidden to visit."

"Why didn't anyone tell me?"

"I'm telling you now."

"But that scream sounded close." Kanin released an oof when she tossed him, back first, onto the couch before straddling him and snatching wrists, keeping him pinned underneath her, pressing his arms into the cushion above his head.

"That's why we're here. Inside." She purred, getting a kick out of the forced submission from the newborn who bucked beneath her, embarking to propel her off of him but quieted down with a growl when his cock hardened beneath her.

"But can't you scare it off?" Kanin broadcasted a masculine grunt, gazing up at her with heated eyes and tips of ivory fangs that lay behind parted lips.

"No," Nora giggled, exclaiming him obsessively, "It can destroy me in minutes too."

Vibrant, gray eyes broadened and anxiety streaked across attractive features. "How powerful are they?" Kanin sought to pull his wrists out of her grip and when he was unable, his features paled further.

Nora narrowed her eyes in thought, "The elders could likely keep up with the speed of them. Father and Aoi."

"Eric?"

Nora shrugged, "I'm not sure." Before she released his wrists and slid her arms under his neck, wrapping around him, she leaned forward and pressed flush against him, placing a soft kiss against his jawbone. Kanin rumbled out a purr, fastening his arms around her as she landed a kiss against his lips. Then another and another and they became lost within each other, sharing affection in the warm home of their maker.

KANIN

Kanin was alone on the ground floor and he had found the time to curl up on one of the couches with his tablet when Nora answered an important phone call. She had ordered Kanin to stay put before descending the stairs while speaking swiftly in a foreign language and he pursed his lips with irritation when he couldn't understand a single word.

The vampire signed into his multiple, long-abandoned social media accounts and checked the untouched messages. Surprised by the amount that waited for him but honestly, he shouldn't have been shocked. Kanin had practically fallen off the face of the earth, of course, his friends were rightfully concerned.

So was his mother apparently...

Kanin, where are you?!

Please answer!

Don't do this to me, baby. Let me know you're not dead in a ditch somewhere.

That whispering, impacting guilt clenched his motionless heart and he chewed on his bottom lip with blunt teeth. Switching to google maps, he checked the distance of Madison from his location.

Can't find a way there.

How deep in Canada was he? Cursing under his breath, he sent a quick message to his mother, assuring her that he was safe before apologizing for the radio silence. Putting the tablet to sleep, he placed it back on the coffee table, twisting around and marching to the door, Kanin fidgetted while he reached for the doorknob, and worry gnawed his stomach when he recollected one of the strict rules that Godric had set in place.

His maker had informed him that he could never see anyone from his human life again, it was prohibited and what he was doing could get him in heaps of serious trouble. The vampire dropped his arm back to his side at the thought of the wendigo as well and with the plan to research the creature, Kanin turned on his heel and hurried for his computer.

For a short while, Kanin explored the web on wendigos, watching videos about the creatures on youtube until his throat burned with enough hunger to pull his attention away. Kanin paused the video and spun around in the computer chair, immediately standing up and darting out of his room. He climbed the stairs and jogged into the kitchen, reaching for the refrigerator, he found the styrofoam cup that held the essence of his maker. Without the patience to warm it up, Kanin brought the rim of the styrofoam to his mouth and took a large gulp, and he moaned lengthily as the freezing liquid soothed his burning throat. And he shifted on his feet in front of the opened refrigerator, sipping slower now, savoring the taste of Godric while reminding himself to grab his tablet on the trek back to his room.

He needed to check to see if his mother replied.

Kanin focused on his tablet through the blood haze for a brief period before turning his fixation on the remaining blood in the cup, he drunk the rest down before lamenting, going as far as to clean the interior of the cup completely with his fingers and licking his digits with an eager tongue. He wanted more.

A noisy disturbance on marble startled him and he twisted around with a hiss, eyes rapidly falling on his tablet, laying screen up on the kitchen floor. Kanin's spine stiffened while the refrigerator shut behind him, now that his hand was removed from the door handle.

Slinking closer, he crouched, and using his free hand, the vampire lifted the smooth piece of technology off of the floor with scrunching features, and immediately, Kanin was defensive, hissing uncontrollably, clasping the side of the tablet in one hand, he placed the cleaned styrofoam cup on the island counter before hurrying out of the kitchen.

He found Nora in a bedroom that smelled entirely of her and Eric and she was sitting in her own type of computer chair, in front of a computer call where multiple voices spoke in another language, voices that she responded to.

Kanin hurried forward while crystal eyes veered around and they narrowed before she pointed to the door. He shook his head with tightening lips and stubbornness, prompting her to slant her glare further.

Shifting on his feet under her intimidation, uneasy and frantic, Kanin snuck forward and sat at her feet, pressing his features into one of her knees. A tense moment passed and he unraveled when fingers stroked through his hair gradually before she responded to one of the speakers in the foreign language.

Later, after the call was ended, Nora inquired if he was alright and he lied, responding with a simple yes.

Days blurred into a long adventure for the newborn and his playmate and they both traversed across the territory belonging to Godric for multiple nights, entertained with the mysterious nocturnal life of the dark. His maker remained overprotective despite Kanin's irritation but over time, the small ancient eased and his shoulders lost some of the anxious tension.

Currently, Kanin and Benjamin stood at the edge of the territory as another blood-curdling scream echoed in the far distance, seizing their attention entirely.

"It sounds female and she's definitely in distress." Benjamin expelled an eager chuckle with displayed fangs but Kanin wasn't so sure. "No, that's a wendigo," Kanin mumbled with hesitance, not enjoying the unnerving event.

"Wendigo? You're such a baby."

Kanin scowled, "I'm not!"

It was a wendigo! Nora wouldn't fabricate something so terrifying just to scare him and it was further proven when Godric returned from his business, only for Kanin to raise a question about the creatures. His maker was startled before he became irritated, turning narrowed sea-green eyes toward an unapologetic Nora. The ancient didn't appear at all bothered that Kanin had murdered an unfortunate human. Godric was more concerned with the information that was fed to him. An argument broke out, of course, in an unknown language between his two family members that lasted for a tense period before Godric hissed out a sharp noise from between his teeth, dismissing the disgruntled female from the living room.

And then, his maker shifted on his feet uncomfortably, appearing unsettled before veering softened cyan eyes to a disappointed Kanin. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to upset you," Godric answered truthfully, rigid and unbreathing. Kanin exhaled loudly before chewing on his bottom lip with blunt teeth. "I killed a man."

"I know."

"You're not angry?" Kanin whispered out his question.

"No, my love, I'm not angry."

"Why?"

"Because you couldn't control yourself," Godric explained simply, not that Kanin required further explanation. It was the impulses, he understood that much.

"Will I ever be able to control myself?"

"One day, yes."

"I've never seen a wendigo." Benjamin hummed, jerking Kanin from the recollection just before a hand brutally grabbed his wrist. "Let's see if we can find it."

"What, no!" Kanin hissed, attempting to yank his arm from the elder's hold, provoking Benjamin to scoff with disdain pulling at his olive-toned features.

"Scared of daddy?"

He was talking about Godric. The other vampire was talking about Kanin's relationship with his maker! First of all, it wasn't Ben's fucking business! "No!" Kanin snarled, revealing fangs and hissing in the other's amused face. "Yea, you are. Come on, don't be a wimp, we'll be back before our makers even know we're gone."

"I don't want to!" Kanin snarled, pulled taut with irritation but despite his efforts to yank himself from Benjamin's grip, he failed and was dragged over the territory line by the other enthusiastic newborn. "It sounded close." Benjamin ignored his stumbles and profanities, heaving him further away from safety.

He had long since given up escaping Benjamin when he inhaled a foul odor, the scent of rot while listening to the eerie silence of the thin forest and rocky cliffs. It was at this moment when the faint hairs on the nape of his neck stood up and he felt the sensation of eyes tracking him. It was when fear swept off of him. When panic clawed up his throat. And with all of his might, he twisted his wrist in the unbreakable hold of Benjamin, squeezed his eyes shut, and mentally screamed for his maker.

Godric!

Benjamin released his grip on his wrist suddenly and whirled around, hissing.

"Maybe this wasn't a good idea." The elder vampire commented, unexpectedly tensing while scanning their surroundings frantically.

"You think!" Kanin snarled, possessing the desire to wrap his fingers around Benjamin's throat and shake him by his neck until it broke. Immediately, the bloodcurdling scream was enveloping them and Kanin gasped with alarm when he was shoved away by the elder vampire. He stumbled back just in time to see a blur of white slam into Benjamin, tackling him to the ground.

Gray eyes settled on Benjamin and the other newborn was shrieking underneath the long, emaciated pale body of a monster that was over him, holding him down on the forest floor, and Kanin stared, alarmed when jagged teeth surrounded by a chewed, lipless mouth tore off the arm of the other vampire rapidly, causing the newborn to howl with weeping features.

Empty, cold eyes, the shade of white nothing, blinked as it held the dismembered limb in its mouth and Kanin ran forward with erupting aggression. He pounced on the freezing, spine-revealed back of the anomaly and quickly embedded ivory into the side of its neck, wrapping arms tightly around its throat and it screamed an ear-piercing shriek, busting his eardrums, and dropping Benjamin's arm from its mouth before lifting onto its long legs, attempting to dislodge him.

It was endeavoring to shake him off, black sharp nails clawed into his limbs, reaching up to try and get long, frostbitten fingers around him for an easy kill. Kanin held on with all of his might, sneering at the disgusting taste of feezing decay infiltrating his tastebuds while it spun around and around. His back was slammed brutally into what he assumed was the trunk of a tree and he whimpered around the bite before forcing his jaws to latch tighter into ice. The wind picked up and slammed into him with a haunting howl, wailing a war cry for the abrupt appearance of a blizzard. A large amount of hail pelted down on him and the screeching creature, and over the howling wind and clawing pain, Kanin heard him. "Kanin!" His maker had arrived but the younger didn't dare loosen his hold on the creature that attacked Benjamin, so he held on desperately as it backed away from what he assumed was Godric.

Lifting his eyes for a moment, he found his clan members enclosing in on the monster with bared fangs and dark eyes, and he could see Aoi comforting Benjamin from behind the others before glaring up in his direction and hissing with disgust, no doubt, aimed toward the monster he had sunk his fangs into.

'Do not let go, my love, please don't let go!' Kanin tightened his grip on the monster with understanding, if he released the creature, he would die. 'Hang on, little rabbit!'

Weary eyes raised up in time to watch Godric vanish out of his vision before a heavy force slammed into the monster, who snarled out an echoing scream as they tumbled over a rocky edge and plummeted into a thicker forest below. Kanin grunted underneath the clawing monster before the sickening noise of its chest caved inward and with the velocity that was his maker, Godric was removing the slumped body off of him, lifting him with bloody, furious characteristics. A brutal force of anguish exploded against the side of his face in the form of a severe slap and he gasped out a pained cry, crashing to the rocky earth with a whimper. Holding the side of his features with his palm, Kanin veered wide eyes back to his growling maker, who bared fangs down in his direction.

"I warned you, stupid boy!"

Astonished tears bubbled over and streaked crimson down his paling features. Godric struck him!

"I'm sorry!"

"You will be," His maker replied with a menacing tone, and Kanin trembled, climbing to his feet to explain the situation, desiring to announce that he didn't intentionally disobey his maker.

"I—I didn't—"

"As your maker, I command you to be silent!" Horror twisted Kanin's features as his maker grabbed him by the bicep. "I have no one but myself to blame, I've been too lenient." Godric snarled.

GODRIC

After scaling the rocky cliffs, Godric held onto Kanin, clenching his blunt teeth behind a rigid jaw as Aoi gazed at his infant newborn with appreciation.

"Thank you, Kanin...Koda. Without you, I doubt my youngest would still be here."

Godric enabled Aoi to voice his gratitude without comment before the oriental male picked up his progeny, who quickly concealed olive features into his maker's collarbone. The newborn was missing his right arm, an arm that would take a few months to grow back fully.

"Godric, by the end of the week, I'll do as you commanded. Thank you for your hospitality but I believe it's time to journey home."

Godric nodded with understanding, "Safe travels, Aoi." The elder smiled before shooting an affectionate gaze back toward Kanin. "I'm in your debt, Koda."

Nora and Eric remained a few feet back, tense and silent and Godric raged internally as the elder ancient took to the dark sky in flight with his injured progeny. After a lengthy period, he turned malicious eyes to confront frightened, quicksilver gray. Kanin immediately flinched, turning gray, gray eyes down to face the forest floor.

Godric ground his teeth together, flaring his nostrils with an unneeded inhale before turning and storming to his residence, hauling a stumbling, voiceless Kanin behind him while Eric and Nora pursued with reluctance.
