BURN

A distant glow on the horizon, reaching up into the night sky like the sunrise. Thick, black smoke billowing above it obscured the stars.

Hammelburg was burning.

He received the warning too late. An air raid. To destroy the factory they failed to sabotage a week before.

He said he would take care of it. They didn't listen.

He watched in horror from the compound as dozens of planes thundered through the skies above him. He had already sent Kinch to make contact, without success.

And now all he could do was wait to see if his men came home.
