I cried for what seemed like hours until I couldn't cry anymore. I had no more tears left in me. In fact, I felt numb. And part of me still couldn't believe he was gone for good. Dawn came then and the guards came to get me. I was dragged through the halls of the castle before being led down several flights of stairs and stopping in front of a large gate. I tilted my head up at one of the guards.
"What's going on here? Where are you taking me?!" I spat out.
He didn't answer and I huffed indignantly. As the gate creaked open, they shoved me inside. Looking up, I realized I was in some sort of pit. Tall wooden walls climbed high into the sky around me, all connected to each other in a circle. Men lined the tops of the walls, cheering jovially as I walked further into the pit. The sound was deafening in my ears.
My silky shoes squished in the mud with loud squelching sounds as I stopped, glaring up at them. Looking to my right, I noticed Brienne standing beside me.
"Brienne!" I said happily, putting a hand on her arm.
She smiled in relief.
"My lady! You're not injured, are you?" she asked frantically.
"No, no, I'm fine." I assured her, dropping my hand, "Brienne, what's going on here?"
But before she could answer my question, a loud clanking sound rang out behind us and we whipped around to see a giant form barreling out of another gate in the far wall. No...No, it couldn't be...Was that...a bear?! The men from above threw down wooden swords and I picked one up gingerly as Brienne grabbed the other.
"Do they expect us to fight this thing?!" I shouted over the din of voices.
"It would seem so, Lady Joan." she admitted, raising up her sword at the bear.
I aimed mine at the beast as well, pointing it towards his heart. The large bear circled around us and we scrambled to get out of its way as it snapped at us. I could hear the faint sound of an argument above us but I blocked it out as the bear came at me again, its teeth snapping together. It lifted up on its haunches then and I held my sword fast. I stabbed at its neck but the bear knocked the sword right out of my hand. I backed up away from it, my heart racing.
It stalked after me before pushing me to the ground. Blood trickled from a scratch on my cheek and my eyes widened as I tried to crawl away from it. Suddenly, a loud thump sounded from behind me and I whipped my head around. My eyes grew even wider. There's no way... But it was.
Jaime stood behind me in all his glory.
