I do not own Hetalia okay? Just seeing how you guys like this really makes me smile. Anyway, I don't have much else to say, so enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

After a long morning of pancakes, maple syrup, long showers and Francis finding the best beret that worked with his earmuffs and covered his roots, and Alfred sitting in the back of Francis's car who insisted he drive this time in his car, moaning about the lack of space and clutching the crutches when they finally reached the hospital. "I haven't even called Vanya yet." He moaned.

"Send him a text. He knows why we're here. I am doing the same for Katy." Matthew said as he heard a ding on his phone. "Oh. They are going house shopping. Natalya's idea."

"I thought Katy was on bedrest and house hunting would count as too stressful." Alfred asked looking over Matthew's shoulder.

"Natalya worked a way around it. Using voice chat while going through the houses. It's not entirely the same but she would see the places and she has Ivan to look for any physical issues, as he did restore your guy's place." Matthew said. "And the sooner the better. She hates being cooped up in your place. No offense."

"None taken." Alfred said as they got to the hospital and headed to Arthur's room where he was talking with Dr. Edelstein.

"Took you three long enough." Arthur said.

"The boys came by as well" Francis said motioning to Alfred and Matthew.

"Yeah Dad." Alfred said as hobbled to a chair in the corner and sat down. "Vanya has to deal with his sisters all alone."

"Well, there's Toris." Matthew said.

"And he's a good kid and all but Natalya does have him wrapped around her finger." Alfred said. "And Mattie, you know as well as I do how well he is with those dating his sisters."

"You got a point. I married his sister and I still remember how he looked when he found out she was pregnant." Matthew gulped.

"Nah, he's just a very protective guy of those he cares about. It's no big deal." Alfred said. "So, Dad, you dying?"

"No!" Arthur said sitting up in the bed.

"Getting better already!" Francis said with a laugh at his response.

"Well, we have Mr. Kirkland stabilized but this afternoon, we will have a Laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed." Dr. Edelstein began.

"Huh?" Alfred said, with Matthew and Francis just as confused.

"It simply means we are removing your father's gallbladder and we can do it with a small camera and small incisions these days. Since you are so concerned about getting back to your job Mr. Kirkland, you will be pleased to know that worst is only a week and in about 2 – 3 you should be back to 100%. In fact, if there are no complications, you should be going home tomorrow. I will warn you of care that will need to be taken afterwards Mr. Bonnefoy though. Your sons won't need to stay and watch him unless they want to."

"Yes!" Alfred said with a fist pump.

"Well, that's a little rude…." Matthew said.

"Well frankly bro, we got our own issues to deal with. Vanya lonely and Katyusha on bedrest? Sunday he'll have to take Toris and Natalya back to school. They'd kill her if she didn't go back." Alfred said.

"True…." Matthew said.

"Well, your sons wanting to live their own lives aside," Dr. Edelstein said. "All that will have to be done over the next few weeks is that you or your husband keep the bandages changed and Francis, I was told you are a chef yourself so he will be on a diet of small low-fat meals for a few weeks after."

"That I can take care of." Francis said as he kissed Arthur on the forehead. "So, your fish and chips won't be beer battered and deep fried."

"Awwwwww…" Alfred and Arthur sulked.

"We can do that for dinner tonight if you are so inclined but remember Ivan is trying to get you to eat better too." Francis scolded. "I don't know what kinds of things that they have in Epiphany celebrations in Russia, but that would be a lot of sausage and vodka…."

"Not exactly." Alfred said.

"Point still stands. I will use you two to find something that your dad will like that is healthy tonight." Francis said. "And we will be here until you get out of surgery."

"Do we have to?" Alfred sighed.

"Al!" Matthew said.

"That's his way Matthew." Arthur sighed. "The fact he is here means a lot. Thank you boys for this." Matthew and Alfred nodded.

"What about Papa." Alfred asked.

"Well, he kind of has an obligation to." Arthur said.

"Yes, because I love you so much." Francis kissed Arthur. Matthew and Alfred stuck out their tongues. "Oh boys, I know you two have love of your own and when you do have kids, they'll say the same."

"And that's supposed to change how we feel about it now?" Alfred said as Matthew nodded.

Francis and Arthur then took the knowledge they had about their sons' growing families of their own and then made sure to tell them all of the knowledge they had of what it was like for them with the adoption process, buying a home, embarrassing stories from their childhood until Alfred had enough and using his crutch carefully knocked off Francis's beret, which caused everyone to laugh at the embarrassed Frenchman. "How rude."

"What?" Arthur smirked "No need to be embarrassed about getting old."

"Says the man who stole my dye." Francis pouted as the anesthesiologist came in.

"Sorry to break up this family bonding, but we need to prep Mr. Kirkland for surgery." The nurse said as she handed back Francis's beret who replied with a quiet "Merci". "And I must talk to you later Mr. Bonnefoy, I am trying to learn French myself and those apps you do during lunch and someone told me it was best to speak with a native speaker, you are right?"

"Oui." Francis said proudly. Arthur rolled his eyes.

"Great you got the frog's ego up" Arthur sighed.

"Don't mind them, they always act like that." Matthew said. "Been that way since we were kids."

"Well, the old married couple thing aside, it's relatively simple. We'll hook up the anesthesia, you'll go to sleep for a few hours, and you'll be one gallbladder short. It won't affect your life too much. In fact, you won't have much if any scaring." The nurse explained.

"That's good." Francis laughed.

"Oh, not here." Arthur said as Alfred and Matthew looked disgusted.

"Of course, now is not the time to play doctor mon amor…." Francis said kissing Arthur's hand.

"Well, if I get sick, I'm in the right spot…." Alfred said as the nurse laughed.

"Well then this surgery will be a few hours and it will about 6 hours until Arthur is conscious again. Well fully." The nurse explained. "We have your contact information Mr. Bonnefoy and will call you when everything is done. You can spend the rest of the day with your sons."

"Come on Papa." Alfred said as he got up and balanced on his crutches. "We'll get you the dye you need."

"Be quiet." Francis said as he put his hand on his beret holding it on his head tighter. "Stay safe my love. You are in good hands."

"Just be by my side when I wake up Francis." Arthur said.

"I will." Francis said as Alfred stuck his tongue out and gagged while Matthew laughed.

"Real mature boys." Arthur said snapping back to his usual personality. "I am going to love to see how Katyusha is to you while she is in labor."

"I have seen women break their husband's hands then and their personality changes a lot. A real sweetheart gets ferocious." The nurse said. Matthew gulped as "sweetheart" is one way they had often talked about Katyusha.

"So, Katy will be making threats to you like Natalya." Alfred laughed. "Upside on being two dudes, adoption is the only option."

"Because I'd love to see the trouble Ivan gives you if men could get pregnant or just what a whiny little bitch you'd be…whichever of you two ends up knocked up." Matthew said as Alfred swung his crutch at him again as Matthew caught it causing Alfred to lose balance and grab against the wall.

"Come along boys." Francis said as he gave back Alfred his crutch and broke up Matthew and stood between the two Ah, just like when they were little. They are making me feel young again even if both plan on making me a Grand-père in their own ways here soon.

Toris sat in the backseat of Ivan's car behind Natalya looking out the window. Natalya had the addresses of houses for sale saved and driving along to the directions on the GPS. He looked over and saw Ivan looking out the window while Natalya turned the car to the open house. "Here we are. I have secured that all the houses on the list will be open today while we head out and do this before I start dinner tonight. Vanya, Katyusha conferred her recipes to me, I have this." She said before her brother could object. "Velikiy dyadya and your summer job in construction taught you much about how sturdy a home is. It will be valuable information."

"Talya- "Toris began as Ivan looked at him funny for the nickname he had taken to given Natalya. "Do you not think that Matthew should be here as well? I mean he will have to live here as well and if these houses do not need the amount of repair that Ivan and Alfred's did, they are more likely to move before he can see them."

"Yes," Ivan spoke up. "Toris does have a point."

"Well, that isn't out of the real of possibility, but Katyusha promised me that she would have at least Matthew go and look at the places on the list before he goes to work on Monday, and you know the power she has over him." Natalya said. "And besides Vanya, the sooner they get their own place the sooner you can Alfred can begin the adoption process."

"Who told you about that?" Ivan said startled, blushing as Toris start to laugh and Ivan cast a dark look at him, causing Toris to stop and nod quietly.

"Katyusha." Natalya said simply. "She thinks it is just 'darling and adorable'. And if I may say so, you would be a good father figure big brother." She turned into the driveway, disconnected the phone from the car and called Katyusha. "Hello bol'shaya sestra we are here at the first house. Yes, 11547 Maple Systems Lane. I know it is a stupid name for a street, but I was not the one who named it." She then held the phone out. "Can you see it? Good." Natalya then pulled out a notepad and pen and handed it to Ivan. "Here." Ivan looked at her curiously. "Take notes. I have been talking with some real estate investor named Jaspreet who wants me on as part of the real estate partnership so I am using this to help find out what properties he may want to invest in."

"I am not going to let you use me for business purposes." Ivan said as he looked around at the house.

"Of course not. I told Jaspreet that your expertise was for family right now and frankly he'd rather have someone who was licensed, no offense. It's just business and to cover your ass from a lawsuit as some renters try to make a cheap and easy buck. I want them laughed out of all but the most korrumpirovannyy i lenivyy i neumelyy of lawyers." Natalya said as she walked around hearing Katyusha's comments on it.

"Oh, the ones Fredka calls 'ambulance chasers." Ivan nodded.

"The reason insurance is higher than it needs to be and why I always have a dash cam on." Natalya said. "Like hell am I paying for someone who thinks a lawsuit will get them a ticket to easy street when the most investment they make is a lottery ticket or two or three or too many on something the odds are more likely to get hit by toilet seat from the International Space Station." Ivan sighed. His sister did have a point; but her rants did get rather insensitive at times.

"Just where did you meet this guy Natalya?" Toris said.

"Oh, I met him on a local real estate investor's forum." Natalya said simply as Ivan looked on concerned at that.

"Sis, be careful with guys like that." Ivan sighed as he noted the loose floorboard. "That's not hard to fix though."

"But can be used to get a better offer." Natalya said as Katyusha sounded worried. "Do not worry about me so much big brother. I know what I am doing. I did not spend four years in school to not know this, and I have great recommendations already for the MBA program."

"Whatever business you end up becoming CEO of will be the top of their industry." Ivan sighed. "Just don't get so wrapped up in this you forget who care about you." Natalya was about to say something else, but Ivan knew he had to put his foot down before spending time with family because talking them into helping her do her business. "And there is a difference between what I am doing now and working with Katyusha and Matthew's situation to help them get their house and let them know which ones need what work and the only time I see my sister is when she has business and nothing more."

"So, what did you tell Francis to help get him Matthew's job? Katyusha told me that you spoke with him before, and his best friend is Matthew's boss. What about that foolish mid life crisis venture he has you said you would get him connections to accomplish?"

Katyusha really needs to get off bedrest and Natalya needs to get back to school. I think I will talk to Katyusha Monday about what she and Natalya have been talking about…. Ivan thought as he spoke up. "I never intended to help him. I was just trying to convince him in the off chance that Matvey needed the help."

"Which he didn't! Mr. Beilschmidt told me himself when we were at the New Year's Eve show!" Katyusha said. "He was the one who told Francis about Matvey getting the job and those two had little contact before he did. Stop doubting my prekrasnyy cholovik klena!"

"Big sister!" Natalya said surprised. "You said the kitchen seemed small in this place…." She said trying to get the conversation back to the house.

"It does." Katyusha said. "But I cannot act like I haven't been hearing yours and Vanya's conversation too and he has a point." Natalya paused. "I find this idea wonderful you had, and it is indeed a great help to Matvey and I considering that he has to help his Dad and Papa this weekend. He will be back with Fredka Monday, he just sent me a text as it seems that Arthur isn't dying of a heart attack after all. But frankly I would rather spend time with Natalya my baby sister than Natalya successful millionaire CEO if this is how it is going to be. We are your family not your cheap labor!" Ivan looked at the phone and then to Natalya who looked stunned. Katyusha was their older sister and had her maternal moments to both Natalya and Ivan. In fact, it was during one of her scolding that she had thrown out facetiously that he may have liked Alfred and it was this comment that made him actually evaluate his feelings. While normally the quiet crybaby who can hardly squash a spider or feels bad for her Pokémon that faint in a virtual game only intended to prevent her from getting cabin fever during her bedrest order can make the most bullheaded feel intense shame and that was showing on Natalya's face now.

"Hey guys!" Toris said causing the siblings to look over at him. "This place has one of those conversation pits from the 70s! And a cool looking fireplace."

"Natalya, if you do marry Toris, do not let him pick the house if that is his taste…." Ivan sighed.

"I see why this has been on the market longer than similar ones…." Natalya noted.

"It's different, but a baby could hurt themselves easily." Katyusha said.

"But they'd crawl onto a couch and be okay." Toris said.

"No." Ivan, Katyusha and Natalya all said to him at the same time as Natalya grabbed his ear and drug him out of the house. "Next one. You got all the notes you need Vanya?"

"Enough." Ivan sighed. "And I though Fredka had bad taste for wanting a game room."

"That doesn't sound so bad…." Toris said. "What did he want?"

"Pool table, dart board, mainly to impress his dad for that British pub feel…" Ivan began.

"So, what wasn't an appeal for Arthur's approval?" Natalya said.

"An arcade complete with basketball game, skee ball, a few of those retro video games from the 80s and 90s and his friend Kiku had a line on an authentic Dance Dance Revolution machine from Japan…. I think that is in Kiku's house now." Ivan said.

"He can be very immature at times…" Natalya said not wanting to be yelled at again. "I guess when you two do adopt he can keep up with the children."

"That he could." Ivan smiled. Well, it isn't an outright insult. Better…. He thought.

Matthew, Alfred, and Francis were sitting in the café eating their lunch, trying to get Francis's mind from Arthur's surgery. No matter what either of them said about it being routine, hardly invasive at all and the hospital that Arthur was at had one of the best ratings around, it could not get Francis's mind from worrying like it was brain surgery that was high risk. "Dad's going to be fine up and stealing your hair dye in no time." Alfred said as he sipped his soda and shook it for Matthew to get a refill. "Thankie sankie." He added as Matthew rolled his eyes. "You owe me bro. I'll take you to review the houses that Katyusha's picked out and see how likely you are to hurt yourself to know how to baby proof."

"He won't steal it as I picked one that matches his natural color much better." Francis said as his phone rang. "It's the hospital."

"They're probably done and Dad's in recovery now." Alfred smiled.

"Don't say such things. You may jinx it!" Francis said as he gulped and answered the phone. "Bonjour?" he asked.

"Guten tag to you too." Dr. Edelstein said. "I'm from Austria myself. But anyway, I am calling to let you know the surgery was a complete success. Mr. Kirkland is in recovery right now and you can come and visit as soon as you want. He isn't fully awake yet from the anesthesia, but he will be just fine. We should be able to get him discharged Monday or Tuesday depending on how recovery is setting up."

"Merci les bons dieux ci-dessus" Francis said, causing Alfred and Matthew to smile, knowing it was good news from the look on their papa's face.

"Yes, it was those gods above that gave me the technology that made this surgery be minimal invasive and routine. Your husband is just fine thank you very much." Dr. Edelstein sighed. "It was my hours of training and skill that enabled this."

"You Germans can be quite the stick in the mud." Francis sighed. "How Gilbert isn't is beyond me."

"Whatever. Your husband is fine. You can see him. Good day." With this Dr. Edelstein hung up.

"So, Dad's okay." Matthew said.

"Oui." Francis smiled.

"Told you Papa." Alfred said sipping his soda.

"Yes, you did. But his doctor was a complete connard" Francis sighed. "Let's go."

"I'm driving Dad." Matthew said. "You nearly hit a parked car in here."

"Fine." Francis sighed.
