On a Sunday, KC and I were sitting in her apartment watching a movie with Aaron. "Divergent"; none of us had seen it before.

We were now at the point where they were both were experiencing Four's fears. It got to the last one.

He was in an empty room. Then his father appeared and said it was for his own good. Then multiple of him appeared, saying the same things. There was no way I could predict that. My eyes widened. I looked at KC. She was staring at the screen, beginning to hyperventilate. I immediately paused the movie, and turned off the TV.

"Aaron, go to your room," I told him.

"Why?" He questioned. "What about the movie?"

"Go," I told him.

He hopped off of the couch and did what he was told. Thankfully, he didn't see his mom's composure.

I looked back at my girlfriend. She was now hugging her knees and rocking back and forth. I lightly put my arm around her.

"You don't deserve this," I heard her say as she was rocking.

"It's not your fault," I assured her.

"You shouldn't have to deal with my panic attacks and all of my problems," she said. "Anyone one else would have left me by now."

"Well, I'm not anyone," I told her with a smile, making a twist to the old nickname she gave me before we started dating.

She started laughing. She clung to me in a hug.

"You always know what to say to get me out," she said.

"I love you," I told her. I kissed her on the head.

"I love you, too."

"Do you want me to stay?"

I felt her nod into my chest.

She went into Aaron's room. I listened as she talked to her son.

"Time for bed," she told him.

"No more movie?"

"No," she said.

"Why?"

"There was a really scary part coming up," she said.

"But you never get scared," has told her, "you're brave."

"Everyone gets scared, sweetie," told him.

"Okay," he said. "I don't want you to be scared mommy."

"Thanks," she told her four year old. "I wish I could protect you from everything."

"I'm brave," he told her. "Like daddy and you. We can fight what's scary, right?"

"Yeah," she told him.

After she walked out, I went in to tell him goodnight. I walked out and shut the door.

"I'll sleep on the couch," I told her. "If you need me, just tell me." I looked in her eyes. "I don't care if you wake me up."

"Thank you, Farkle," she said. She started walking to her room.

"Can I ask you something really quick?"

She stopped and turned around.

"Of course," she said with a nod.

"Riley told me that you said if I had been the one to ask you to marry me the other night that you would have said 'yes'," I said. "Did you mean that?"

She nodded.

"Yes," she confirmed. "Why?"

"That's just good to know," I told her.

She grinned and shook her head, amused.

"I love you."

"I love you too," I said. "Goodnight."

"Night."

She went into her room and I laid down on the couch. I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up to her scream. I jumped off of the couch and hurried to her room. There, sitting up in her bed, she was shaking. I sat next to her and wrapped her in a hug. After a few moments she started bawling into my chest. I held her tighter. My eyes diverted from the top of her head to the door.

Aaron was standing there.

"Is mommy okay?" He asked.

KC couldn't stop crying.

I couldn't bring myself to lie to him.

"No," I admitted.

He walked over to us, climbed up on her bed, and hugged his mom. A few minutes went by and she finally stopped crying. She pulled away from me. She put an arm around me and the other around Aaron.

"Thank you, both of you," she told us.

"I'll always protect you mommy," Aaron said. "I don't want you to cry."

"So will I," I told her. "We love you."

"I love both of you, too," she said. She looked at me. "I would have definitely said 'yes'."

I smiled at her.

After we realized it was five in the morning, we decided to go to the living room and watch Paw Patrol. I watched as a smile appeared on her face again. I put my arm around her and she laid on my chest. We listened to Aaron as he commented on how Chase is his favorite character, listing everything he liked about him. I smiled at him.
