another chapter installment in my first ever Vampire Knight fanfiction, and it's a long(er) one this time.

Once I had arrived at the sight of Yuuki's spilt blood for examination, a level E suddenly tried to get the jump on me. I kicked her forward, however, right into a door. In my defense, the door was already slightly damaged, anyway.

Finally, I pointed my vampire hunter's gun, my Bloody Rose, at her but not before she managed to get up.

Yours Truly: I see. You've already lost your link to humanity, haven't you?

I was perfectly ready to pull the trigger when the situation reminded me of my grade school's head nurse and when she finally succumbed to her own vampiric instincts. I actually committed the foolish act of pulling my gun away from the level E only for her to stop in her tracks on her own and say to me…

Level E Vampire: You one of us?

I suddenly became terrified of what this level E called me. It was just like saying I was already one of those beasts in human form.

Level E Vampire: One of us.

I could not take that kind of comment from the monster anymore.

Yours Truly: Shut up!

With that, I pointed my Bloody Rose back to the level E in question and finally pulled the trigger of my gun.

Once she was dead, however, another figure appeared from behind her that reminded me of my own brother…

My thoughts: Ichiru.

In reality, the figure of a small child turned out to be nothing more than another level E vampire. It unleashed a horrid cackle and escaped me before I could shoot it, though. The beast in the form of a human child jumped up all the way into the olden clock tower where I had then heard yet another terrified scream come from the inside once the monster made it there. I instantly recognized the scream since it had to belong to my dearest…

Yours Truly: Yuuki!

I then ran inside after the little monster and climbed the stairs of the clock tower as fast as I could. I was almost to the top of the tower when I heard the olden bell ring and I smelt the scent of blood… my dearest Yuuki's blood to be exact. I just could not find it in myself go to her rescue with my own blood lust acting this way. I was in no condition to rescue anyone, least of all her.

I suddenly became aware of the monster in human form coming to a halt just before finally killing my dearest Yuuki. Of course, it would have been that Kaname Kuran who came to her rescue while I was battling my inner demons.

Kaname Kuran: You poor creature, ending up like this.

That was exact what I heard him say, and I knew very well that was going to be me one day.

Kaname Kuran: However…

He then covered my Yuuki's eyes so she would not see what would happen to her attacker by her beloved's hands.

Yuuki: Kaname, how did you?

Kaname Kuran: The person you've chosen to hurt is someone very dear to me.

From the sound of it afterwards, he unleashed a very heavy wind upon the level E vampire child, destroying the monster in the process. I finally heard my dearest Yuuki's voice once again after that.

Yuuki: Kaname, what just…

The bastard of a pureblood vampire finally released my dear Yuuki from covering her eyes the way he had.

Kaname Kuran: It's over now.

Yuuki then turned her head to face that Kaname Kuran to ask him…

Yuuki: That boy, he was…

Kaname Kuran: Level E.

Yuuki: Level E? So, does that mean that he wasn't a vampire then?

My thoughts: Yuuki, how could you?

Kaname Kuran: No. They are vampires, as well.

Yuuki: Yeah, but he…

That Kaname Kuran then touched a hand to my dear Yuuki's face.

Kaname Kuran: You're a bad girl. What were you thinking, coming to a dangerous place like this all by yourself?

That bastard then bent over to kiss my dearest Yuuki's hand. Luckily for me, Yuuki was too modest to accept that Kaname Kuran's lips on her hand.

Yuuki: I came here because I was trying to find Zero.

I could not believe that she went to this part of town looking for me. It was all my fault she was attacked.

Kaname Kuran: Well, I'm afraid he isn't here. He's back at the dorm.

My thoughts: Liar!

Kaname Kuran: I'll walk you back. With the scent of your blood, it's too risky for you to be out alone.

I was so busy battling my inner demons while that bastard told my dearest Yuuki that I was back at the dorm. I knew it was not true, but I could not risk my dear Yuuki seeing me in this condition. I hurried back to Cross Academy before Yuuki could have the chance to suspect anything.
