Chapter 21: A Day of Peace
(Remnant: Grimm Encampment)
Remnant was still in its frozen state, as the three suns continued to shine on the Emerald Forest. The Grimm were doing their daily tasks, ranging from setting up equipment, some practicing dueling, while others were hanging around. Meanwhile, in Rodney's lab, Siren was getting a check-up.
"Okay. Temperature is normal. No abnormal behaviors. Eye color hasn't changed. No extra limbs." Rodney said, marking down items on a checklist.
"Why are we doing this again?" Siren asked.
"It's for your own good. You've managed to defeat the Huntresses using the Revenants, but you have contract with them. I think this is what most humans call, a deal with the devil. Selling your soul, casting your loved one into the fire, a blood offering. That kind of contract." Rodney said.
"I didn't sign anything, Rodney…Well, actually I did sign something on the night we met, but I assure it had nothing to do with any of that weird stuff you just said. Also, why are you the one giving me a check-up?" Siren asked.
"Apparently, I'm the only one who has medical experience. I guess should probably make spirit-Grimm that can do more than just kill. Speaking of spirit-Grimm, tell me what you think of this."
Rodney then went over to a desk and pulled out a drawing. The drawing showed a Black Humanoid-Frog creature, wearing a hoodie and pants, with headphones on its head.
"What the heck is that?" she said.
"Oh. It's a DJ-Frog. I got inspiration from playing this team-based game. It uses the music of DJ to attack its foes and buff its allies. Soon, once the creature is complete, we will be able to literally dropped the beat, ON ALL OF OUR FOES! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! GAHAHAHHAHAH!"
"*SMACK! * Rodney. If you're going to act like a nut-job, do it whenever I'm not around you." Siren said, with a deadpanned stare.
"Gee. I'll keep that in my mind." Rodney said, rubbing his cheek. "Any way, on a serious note, are you sure you're okay? No inner turmoil thoughts, or crazy illusions?"
"No. I'm alright. I feel perfectly normal. Although is that a good thing? To be honest, I'm kind of nervous." Siren said.
"It's okay to feel that way. You do have an unknown deck with an unnatural summoning method. How do you feel when you use them?" Rodney asked.
"Powerful. Like I can do anything. Destroy whatever opposes me. Just, conquer and dominate. If I'm being honest, I don't really understand why." Siren said.
"Well, you did manage to beat the Huntresses and Anna in a duel, which is a very, very great achievement. After accomplishing that, I don't blame you for feeling that way. In any case, if you ever feel funny mentally, or physically, come see me immediately. I know I may have a screw loose…"
"Clearly."
"Fair enough. I do care for everyone's well-being here, yours included." Rodney said.
Siren smirked a little. "You know, Rodney. I hate you a little less now. Before then, I could barely look at you. Now, I can just groan at you."
"Ok. Thanks? By the way, have you seen the new cards I made? I want your opinion on them." Rodney said.
"Eh. Don't expect too much from me. I just think they're okay." Siren said.
"Well, I think they're pretty amazing." A mysterious voice said.
Siren and Rodney then turned their heads toward the entrance. Entering the medical room was a Humanoid Grimm, with the body of a young man. He has white and black colored hair with dark red eyes with a dark cloak and a dark shirt white pants with white socks and shoes.
"Who are you?" Rodney asked.
"Sorry about that. Forgot to introduce myself. I'm Reaper Soul. Pleasure to meet the both of you." Reaper said, shaking both Rodney and Siren's hands, while crossing them.
"Hey, um, no offense, but I don't remember seeing you around the base that often." Siren said.
"Oh. That was because I decided to travel the spirit world for a while. It was quite the experience." Reaper said.
"Hm. That sounds interesting. So, what brings you to my domain?" Rodney asked, extending his arms outward.
"This is the medical wing." Siren said.
"Any place where I'm in charge is MY DOMAIN." Rodney exclaimed. Siren rolled her eyes and groaned.
"I have a request for, Rodney. I've heard you've been creating Grimm-type Duel-Monster cards. Is that correct?" Reaper asked.
"Why, yes indeed! I have created a vast number of cards, based around a monster beat-down style! Soon, I'll make archetypes within the Grimm-type monsters, and I'll continue to do so until we have, DESTROYED ALL OF HUMANITY! GAHAHAHA…"
*SMACK! *
"Please. Don't egg him on like that. EVER." Siren said.
"…Yeah. Anyways. I was wondering if you could make a custom card for me." Reaper said.
"I don't see why not. But have you seen my other cards I made? You can check them all out on this little tablet I made. It has information on all the cards I made. Do they not fit to your liking?" Rodney asked.
"Oh no. Not at all. They're great cards, but the card I want is, bigger." Reaper then took a piece of paper out of his pocket. "The card I want, is this."
Rodney and Siren looked at the paper, with Rodney dropping his jaw, and Siren just staring with a shocked look.
"Holy humongous. A card based off this monster would be insanely…destructive." Rodney said, grinning.
"So, can you do it?" Reaper asked.
"Of course, I can do it! It's just a matter of gathering the right materials for it. I'm going to have to check my lab to see if I have the DNA samples, for this monster." Rodney said.
"Thank you, Rodney. I look forward to what you will create." Reaper said.
"Don't get your hopes up yet. I need to see if I have the required materials. But that'll have to wait. Liege is hosting a meeting today, and he wants all the Grimm to attend it." Rodney said.
"Oh yeah. I forgot all about that. It was schedule to happen in a couple of minutes. Might as well head off. I got nothing better to do today after all." Siren said, as she headed for the exit.
"What's the speech about anyway, Rodney?" Reaper asked, as both he and Rodney exited the tent.
"Liege is going to explain how we're going to destroy Remnant in more detail now. I'm also part of the presentation. So, I bid you adieu." Rodney said, walking away in a different direction.
"What an odd, Grimm." Reaper then thought about the idea of destroying Remnant. "Is destroying all of humanity truly the correct path for us?" he said to himself.
Later that day, numerous Grimm had gathered in front of a wooden stage, that had a speaking stand in the center, with a screen in the background. There was also a projector in the middle of the crowd. Most of the Grimm took seats, some fought over them, while others simply stood. Siren maneuver her way through the crowd and managed to find Shinrai, Hidou and Linda, sitting together, with Jay perched on Shinrai's head.
"Hey, hey! If it isn't the Rogue Grimm herself. How are you doing, Siren?" Linda asked.
"Eh. So, so. Does any of you know what Liege is going to talk about today?" Siren asked.
"Probably related to destroying humanity on Remnant." Shinrai replied.
"Or he could be throwing us a surprise party." Hidou said, as everyone stared at him. "It was a joke."
"A lame one." Siren said quietly.
"You say something?" Hidou asked.
"Nothing…moron."
"Dimwit."
Hidou and Siren then crossed their arms and turned their heads away from each other.
"How do you deal with this everyday of your life?" Linda asked, Shinrai.
"I didn't deal with it. I adapted to it." Shinrai responded.
Linda didn't say anything else, as she didn't really have a clue of what was going on in Shinrai's head. Was there anything even in his head to begin with? She decided to put that question in the back of her head for now. Everyone in the crowd then began to quiet down, as Liege began walking up on the stage.
He then went to the stand and tapped on the mic. "Testing. Testing. Is this thing on? Okay. Good morning, everyone. For those of you don't know, I'm Liege. The leader of the Grimm here. Now, before we begin, we first must address the Goliath in the room."
"Which one are you talking about? Me? The guy next to me? The guy in the far-right corner or the guy doing yoga over there?" A humanoid Goliath asked.
Everyone then turned to their left to see a Goliath doing yoga on a yoga mat, while watching a yoga training video.
"The guy doing yoga. Hey, excuse me. Can you do the yoga practice later? We're in the middle of a meeting." Liege asked.
"Yoga…waits for no one." The Goliath responded, as continued to do his stretches.
"…Ok then. Moving on. Now. As all of you know, we Grimm are the destroyers of the Humanity. It's technically our one and only reason for existing. The first thing that comes to a Grimm's mind is to destroy humans or faunuses, or fauni. Also, we tend to gravitate towards negative emotions, and can sense them ending the lives of whoever we find." Liege said, as he took a breather.
"Today's meeting is to discuss the finer details of our plans to destroy humanity." He then pulled out a remote and used it to activate the projector, displaying a power-point, titled "The Downfall of Humanity".
"Since the beginning of time, Grimm, and Humans, including the faunus, have not co-existed with each other. Grimm kills humanity, and humanity kills Grimm. It's constant battle. When the Grimm was a threat to humanity, humans and faunuses teamed up to survive." Liege said, showing a drawing of Grimm battling Humans and Fauni on the projector.
"To combat this, we Grimm became more deadlier with the inclusion of breathing poison, tusks, sharper claws and brute strength. Then the humans made sharp-edge swords, spears and other sharp weapons." The display then showed deadlier Grimm, fighting against Huntsmen armed with swords, lances, and axes.
"After that, the humans made guns to combat flying Grimm, such as Nevermores and Griffons. But we Grimm have manticores, which breath fire from their mouths and pounce on any poor, poor huntsman." Liege said. The next side showed a well-made drawing of a Huntsman firing several bullets at a nevermore, while a Griffon pounced on another.
"And just when you think the humans had reached the pinnacle of, something, some random dude said these words. Hey! You know what would be cool? Slapping a knife and a gun together! And hence, every weapon that the humans wield, is also a gun." Liege said.
"You think with all the guns the Huntsman have going around shooting, how do you think they keep up with the ammo usage?" Hidou asked.
Shinrai only stared at him blankly. "…I don't know."
"While the humans may have their fancy mechanized weapons, we Grimm have grown even more deadlier. For example, we have sea creature variants. Also, Ghasts can form gigantic rock bodies, and the Goliaths in Atlas have high durability because of their icy layer." Liege said, showing the different Grimm species.
"I wonder why we lack the lethal traits coming here. It would make our jobs a lot easier. The concepts of faunus exist. So how come we can have lethal animal parts?" Siren asked.
"Eh, I don't really care. I have transformable arms." Hidou said.
"I suppose you do. Have you worked on not crying like a baby every time you used them?" Siren asked with a smirk.
"Ah, shut it." Hidou said, brushing her off.
Liege continued with the presentation. "You guys know the rest. They built robots, we got a gigantic leviathan, and they built a bigger robot with a drill and arm-cannon. How do I know that? I read in a book I found while setting up camp. Now the reason why I bring up all the dangerous Grimm and human's ways of being violent is because surprisingly, Grimm and Humanity are trying to achieve the same thing: killing off their opponents permanently."
Most of the Grimm began whispering and murmuring after hearing that. "Hear me out. Humans hate Grimm and Grimm want to kill human because…our existence demands it. Aside from that, neither side has managed to achieve their goal. We Grimm are constantly evolving, growing longer limbs, being more agile or just having the ability to fly. But no matter how many humans we kill, they're always going be that one human that can slaughter us all without breaking a sweat."
"I think it's because the humans just love to reproduce. Especially the males." An Ursa said.
"Dude. Just…no." A Beowolf responded with disgust.
"The same applies to humans. No matter how much advance weaponry they make, they never truly get rid of us. In the end, it's just an endless cycle. Humans kill Grimm, we get stronger variants and kill humans, and the humans find out better ways to kill us. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they found out a way to fly without wings!" Liege exclaimed.
"Well, the concept of the Avian Faunus exists." An Ursa said.
"I think he was talking about humans and fauni in general. Also, your point is invalid. Avian Faunuses have wings." A beowolf replied.
"So, in the end, humans and Grimm kill each other to no end, failing to wipe out the other side. However, that changes today. For you see, the reason is that we are weak! Seriously, some of us die instantly to single bullet, or having our arm chopped off. The standard Grimm in general can kill a couple of humans, but the humans are strong enough to protect new recruits from the failures of their fallen comrades, increasing their chances of survivability! But what if, they had no way to adapt and survive? That is where the Spirit World comes in." Liege said.
The Grimm amongst the crowd began whispering and murmuring about what Liege said, curious of what he meant.
"Now, to explain this properly, I would like to introduce our head scientist of almost everything. Please welcome to the stage, Rodney, our Rat Grimm." Liege said, as walked away from the speaking stand.
Rodney then came up on stage and wave to the audience as the Grimm in the crowds clapped for their new speaker, while some cheered.
"Thank you, everyone. Glad to be here. Well, where else am I going to be?" Rodney said, as a couple of Grimm chuckled.
"Thank you again. Now, as Liege said, we're going to use the Spirit World to destroy Remnant. How may you ask? Well, the Spirit-World is home to many different types of Duel-Spirits. They range from magicians, burgers, machines, demons, nightmare incarnate pizzeria mascots, Krampus, dragons, and the list goes on." Rodney said, as he took a moment to breath, as he showed the pictures of the different spirits on the projector
"I'll just get right to point. Right now, Remnant is in the phase-1 stage of our plan. All of Remnant and its inhabitants are stuck in a frozen stasis like environment. Unfortunately, we cannot harm nor kill them while in this state. This where we move into phase-2 of our plan. That's where we introduce Duel-Spirits to Remnant, and deadly ones." Rodney said.
If the Grimm weren't paying attention before, they were now, curious of what Rodney had to say.
"Remnant is no stranger to danger. Hey that rhymes, heh, heh. But, when they first encounter Grimm, they had to adapt to our ferocity, and over the course of years, the humans mostly see us as minor nuisances. Sure, they're cautious of us, but professional huntsmen can butcher an entire horde of Grimm within minutes! And that's only talking about the ones that go solo. So, to end this cycle that Liege explained a not too long ago, is to give Remnant a fight they can't possibly be prepared for." Rodney said, taking another breathier.
"Imagine it. We're going to take a vast variety Duel-Spirits and place them everywhere in Remnant. Why do we need more than one? Because variety is the key. Humans are used to fighting the creatures of death and darkness, which is us, but can they fight against this!?" Rodney said, clicking the button, showing different monsters of the Dark World Army.
"The Dark World army…known to be conquerors of the spirit realm. Let these guys loose on Remnant with their Dark Magic and chaotic powers, and Remnant will struggle to survive against these bad spirits. The problem is that humans are problem solver. Give them a week or two, and they may find a way to defeat them. That's why we have to give them another problem at the same time. Such as…" Rodney then clicked on the remote, showing pictures depicting flesh rotting zombies.
"Zombies! Especially the Plaguespreader Zombie. I'm going to be honest with you guys. That thing gives me nightmares, after seeing the biohazard attacks it can unleash upon Remnant through a simulation. That's not including the Doomkaiser Dragon. The best part is that we are immune to the infection, since we're not really humans, and a different type of monster in our own right. So, we can sit back and let the viral monsters do their horror-work." Rodney said.
A Grimm among the crowd raised his hand, as Rodney pointed to him. "So, are we going to unleash the Zombie Apocalypse on Remnant or introducing Dark World Conquerors to them?" A Grimm asked.
"Both. And so much more. The objective here is to introduce a whole bunch of destructive variables to Remnant, so they won't have the ability to adapt. Say, we just introduce the zombies. All of Remnant would see that as a very big threat and probably create anti-weapons and a cure within a matter of months or a year. Same with the Darkworlds. The humans and faunus would find some way to get rid of them. However, give them both problems at the same time, and they'll struggle come up with a solution within due time." Rodney said.
"So, it's like we're giving them more problems to spend their limited resources on?" Another Grimm asked.
"Exactly. Humans need to use money, discuss politics, and have relations, or not, with the public to approach these kind of big disaster problems. So, phase-2 in a nutshell is where we introduce as many, many, horrible, disastrous problems for the humans and faunus. For example, behold exhibit A!" Rodney declared.
On the stage, a beowolf, using a trolley brought out a Purple humanoid machine as it then took center stage. "This here is called a Kinetic Soldier. It has the power to destroy any Warrior based monster. And Huntsmen are technically warriors. Example watch how far it can throw this modified dummy I made to have a Warrior-type spirit pseudo aura. Just see for yourselves."
On stage, a beowolf brought out a standard training dummy. Rodney then activated the Kinetic Soldier, as it's red eyes lit up. The robot then scanned the area, and immediately spotted the training dummy.
"WARRIOR IDENTIFIED. COMMENCING TERMINATION." The robot said.
Approaching the training the dummy, it immediately rammed its fist, straight through the body, grabbing the stuffing through the dummy's back, and immediately yanked it out. As the dummy fell to the ground, the Kinetic soldier began to stomp on it. It then picked it up and teared it apart with minimal effort and then proceeded to throw it into sky and showed no signs of coming down. After Rodney deactivated the robot, most of the Grimm began clapping or cheering.
"Yep. I like to see Huntsmen beat that. Although technically they do have dust, so that may be a problem, but I got this guy for a good deal from a Junk Dealer. I'm going to assume that you all have a good idea of what we're doing. So, I'm now going to show you some monster we're planning on introducing to Remnant." Rodney said, clicking on his button, displaying different monsters
"Ancient Gear monsters. I managed to find a guy was who willing to sell them to us. Trust me when I say that the Chaos Giant earns its name. We're also planning on letting loose feral dragons upon the land. The best thing about feral monsters is that you just dropped them and watch the chaos unfold. Luster Dragons, the number two version, a Tyrant Dragon, and if we're lucky we could unleash a Darkstorm Dragon on Remnant. The storm that creature can brew could probably wreck a town or two. That would contribute to homeless people, which the government would have to acknowledge along with the rampaging monsters." Rodney said taking a moment to breath. He then clicked the button to show a variety of different deadly monsters of both flesh, metal, and whatever their bodies were made of.
"The list goes on. Our job is to spread Dark Dust crystals, along Remnant to increase the fusion process of Remnant with the Spirit World. In doing so, it will prevent certain monsters from coming in. That way, we can keep all the Spirits who would want to help, out." Rodney said.
"So, how are we going to get these monsters in the first place?" a Grimm asked.
"It's really easy actually. We'll just need either buy some of the monsters, like the machines, and capture the other monsters. After that, we'll teleport them to Remnant once it's fully merged with the Spirit World. Then we'll unfreeze Remnant as the Spirits rampage in their new play-place. And that concludes our meeting for today. You'll all receive certain tasks in the future of our phase-2 plan. Also, I have also created Grimm-type monster cards, and supports cards. If you want, you can come and claim these cards to build a deck yourself. I'm also taking in requests, for future cards. If you have any ideas, come to me discuss them. Thank you for your time and have nice-day." Rodney said, bowing.
The Grimm in the audience gave another round of applause, as they went back to their tasks or to whatever they were doing. One Grimm Beowolf however was acting quite suspicious. It went behind a nearby tent and looked around to make sure no one was looking, pressing fingers on its neck.
"HOLOGRAM DEACTIVATED."
In an instant, the image of the Beowolf disappeared, revealing to be Joanne who was in disguise. "Thank goodness. That meeting seemed to last forever! I almost ran out of battery there. Still. It's amazing what Gearhead is able to make from the scraps from that robot. Now then, time to head back." Joanne said, preparing to leave.
"You, there! Halt!"
Joanne stopped and slowly turned around to see two humanoid Beowolves, wearing armor, looking directly at her, both pointing a spear at her. She also noticed their name tags. They were Gary and Dave. Gary was wearing maroon clothes, while Dave wore orange.
"Stay right where you are and tell us what you're doing here!" Gary demanded.
"No lies!" Dave said.
Joanne didn't look worried. She just stood there and thought about what to say. "I came here to eavesdrop on your little operation using a holographic disguise. Now that I've heard all about your great, grandiose plan of using the Spirit World to kill every human on Remnant, I'm going to leave this place now, regroup with my buds, and if I must, kill you in the process, using either this pistol or my sword imbued with water elemental properties. Is that answer satisfactory?" Joanne said, slyly.
"We said no lies!" Dave yelled.
"I-I think she was actually telling the truth, Dave." Gary said.
"No, no, no, no. It's a known fact that Huntsmen will lie in certain situations like this, in order to trick their enemies so they can escape." Dave said.
"Oh, I forgot to mention that part!" Joanne remarked.
"Shut it, woman! Stop spouting your lies!" Dave yelled.
"But isn't everything she just said something a Huntress would do? From the eavesdropping, the relaying of information and dramatic escape. Huntsmen are capable of making dramatic escapes." Gary asked.
"Well, I, uh…I don't know! But just look at her face. That is the face of liar, a cheater, and a she-dog." Dave said.
Joanne only smiled. "You're right. I'm all those things! It all depends on my mood." Joanne said.
"Stop lying and tell us the truth!" Dave said.
"Uh…Dave. If she's really lying, that would mean that she isn't a liar, a cheater or a she-dog. What does she-dog mean by the way?" Gary asked.
"Uh…ah…okay my brain hurts now. She must be lying because that's what huntsmen do. They lie to their enemies, and we're her enemies. But everything she's saying sounds like the truth! Does that mean…we're friends?" Dave said.
"Big no." Gary said, shaking his head.
"Yeah. That's way too ridiculous. So, what is the answer!?" Dave yelled.
Joanne hummed to herself. "I believe the answer to your little conundrum is that you have strong view of whatever I say is false, and anything I that doesn't fit with your own truth is automatic lie, because you firmly believe I'm a liar who can't be trusted. However, when I say something that is true, it conflicts with your belief of me being a liar, so you try to do whatever you can to contort your vision that makes it right. Makes sense?"
Dave and Gary were silent for a moment, not sure how to respond to Joanne's words.
"So…what do you think about it, Gary?" Dave asked.
"ME!? She lost me at the whole truth and false thingamajig. Do I look like a philosopher to you?" Gary retorted.
"Jerry specializes in philosophy. Maybe we can ask him about it?" Dave said.
"Ugh. I not sure anymore. I miss the times where we just kill humans without questioning it." Gary said.
"So, how come we aren't killing her?" Dave said.
"Liege thought it would be best to take prisoners. You know for the usual stuff: hostages, info extraction, test subjects for Rodney, enslavement. That kind of stuff." Gary said.
"I suppose. I mean, there's nothing wrong with taking prisoners. But killing is just easier…none of the big thinking stuff. What do you think, Huntress?" Dave asked.
However, Joanne was no longer in front of them. The two Grimm immediately scanned the area and spotted her running around the corner of one of the tents.
"She's getting away! Sound the alarm!" Gary yelled.
Dave nodded, and ran to nearby metal-switch box and opened it up to see many different switches. "Let's see here…plague alarm, rabid Beowolf alarm, Rodney is more cuckoo than usual alarm, meteor alarm, fire alarm, random alarm, snow day alarm, no food alarm, musical alarm, aha! The Huntsmen Intruder Alarm button!" Dave quickly pressed the button as it sounded the alarm in the vicinity.
"RED ALERT! RED ALERT! A HUNTSMAN HAS BEEN SPOTTED ON THE CAMP. RAISE UP ARMS AND DESTROY. THANK YOU."
At that moment, every Grimm, except the yoga Goliath, had stopped what they were doing, and let out their fiercest battle cries, pulled out their weapons of choice, some with duel-disks, and sought out the intruder. Joanne was now running through alleys of tents, jumping over crates, and avoiding the attacks from passing by Grimm.
When making a turn, she immediately saw a group of Grimm wielding a variety of weapons.
"Whoops. Not that way." Joanne said, as she immediately ran in the other direction.
"There she is! Get her!" a Beowolf yelled, as the group made chase.
The Grimm began throwing their weapons at her, as Joanne jumped side to side, and ducked the incoming projectiles, while holding onto her hat. One of the Grimm that was chasing her happened to be a Nevermore Hawk, and he had a good eye. With a steady hand, he readied his knife, and threw it at the Joanne, piercing her right arm.
"GAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Joanne screamed. She then raised her arm, to see that the knife had pierced her flesh and was now sticking out the other end. Her faced grimaced at the sight. "Yeesh. Why do I still feel pain when I'm already dead!?" she said, as she continued to make her getaway.
Meanwhile, at a nearby watchtower, two beowolves, and an ursa where standing on the top. One was holding up a telescope, to see Joanne from a distance. "Huntress sighted. Prepare Grimm Cannon!" he shouted, pointing his finger into the air.
The Ursa then pushed out a very large old-fashion black cannon, with two wheels. "You sure this is a good idea?" the ursa asked.
"Buddy. This idea was made by the humans. Of course, it's a good idea!" The beowolf said with confidence.
The second beowolf then placed a helmet onto his head, and flight goggles on his eyes. "Alright. I'm ready." He said, as he then jumped into the cannon.
"Good. Get ready. On my mark!" The first beowolf said, taking out his telescope to spot Joanne. "Rotate by five meters…angle down by 20 degrees…Move the cannon forward by 2 inches…DO IT! NOW!" the Beowolf commanded.
"FIRE IN THE HOLE!" The Ursa yelled, lighting the fuse.
The cannon then let out a bang, firing the second beowolf down towards Joanne.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! FEAR THE GRIMM-CANNONBALL!"
Joanne heard the shout and turned her head to her left. She immediately stopped in her tracks as the Beowolf completely missed her, crashing into a pile of barrels. Joanne didn't had time to question what she just saw but continued running.
Back at the watchtower, the Beowolf and Ursa continued to look at the chase. "Huh. Maybe this combat method has a few flaws." The beowolf said.
"This is why I say we should use normal weapons!" Ursa exclaimed. He then proceeded to grab a bow and arrow and aimed it at Joanne. Once he was sure of his aim, he let the arrow fly, puncturing Joanne in the left shoulder. "Simplicity at it's finest."
"GAAAAAAAHHHHH! AAaaaaah. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Gaahaaaaaahaaaahaa. Geez that hurts!" Joanne said, as she continued to run.
However, another group of Grimm were running towards her. She immediately turned around to see that there two groups converging onto her. Seeing that she was pincered, she looked around for a way out. Realizing there was no way to go, she decided to make her own. She quickly took out her sword, and cut straight through one of the tents, and jumped in. The tent she jumped in was a cooking tent, as she saw many Grimm, wearing chef outfits, all prepping ingredient and cooking food for the many Grimm in the camp. Joanne jumped over counters, spilling food all over the floor, pushing cooks out of the way, who had no idea what was going on.
The two groups of Grimm had merged into one whole group and poured through the tent, making their way through the kitchen tent. One of the cooks who had an idea of what was going on stood in Joanne's way, wielding a chef's knife preparing to stab her. When Joanne saw the cook, she immediately grabbed a frying pan and smacked the Grimm across the face knocking him out.
Outside the tent, the Grimm Trio were searching for the Huntsman.
"Ok, Huntsman. Where are ya? Where are ya?" Hidou said.
"I thought we dimension locked the place. How did a Huntress get here?" Siren asked.
"An unknown variable." Shinrai said.
Joanne suddenly ran out the tent, pushing Shinrai to the ground, making a dash towards the exit. She was also eating a strawberry pastry she nabbed when she was running.
"The Huntress!" Siren exclaimed.
Hidou face made a wicked smile. "Sweet. It's time to deal out a beating, OF A LIFETIME! CHAR—" before Hidou could make his battle cry, a stampede of Grimm all came running out of the tent, running him over. When the group cleared, Shinrai and Siren looked down to see Hidou laying the ground, face-down, with a variety of Grimm footprints on his back.
Siren was doing her best to stifle her laughter, while Shinrai still had his blank look. Just then, a humanoid Goliath came out running, and stepped on Hidou's back, to catch up to the group. At that point, Siren burst with laughter, clutching her stomach, as she then fell on her back, as she continued laughing.
"Aw man. That made my day." Siren said.
Reaper then came out of the tent, pushing out a pastry trolley. "Oh hey, guys. What are you up to?" he said, accidently rolling the trolley over Hidou's left arm.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggghhhhh." Hidou let out a gasp of pain.
"Oh, my goodness! I'm sorry, Hidou. I didn't see you there!"
"N-no biggie. It takes more than this…to keep me down. I think I'll take a nap." Hidou said weakly.
"We're taking him to the infirmary." Shinrai said.
"Wait. I want to take to a picture of this first." Siren said.
Back with Joanne, she was making her way towards the exit. However, another group of Grimm immediately ran in front of it, blocking her way out. "Yikes!" she said, making a sharp turn.
The Grimm kept on throwing spears and swords while others fired arrows. They didn't want to use heavy based weapons, since there was a risk of destroying their base on accident. After running, Joanne found herself cornered from all incoming sides. With nowhere else to go, Joanne's racked her brain for ideas. She then looked behind her and saw a rope pulley, attached to a pole.
As her face made a smile, she pulled out her sword with her right hand, and grabbed the rope with her left hand. Before the horde could catch her, she cut the rope, causing the weight suspended in the air to fall, sending her flying into the air. Taking out her pistol, she aimed it backwards and fired a shot to propel her around. Using her own body, to swing the rope, she let got, soar through the air, as she flailed her arms and screamed.
"Wait. Huntsmen can fly!?" A Ursa asked.
"No, you idiot. She's falling with style! AFTER HER!" a humanoid Nevermore shouted.
Joanne was now falling, still flailing her arms, but landed on a tree branch. Pulling herself up and balancing herself on the arm of the tree. She turned around to see horde still coming at her and were now climbing the tree.
"Better get to hopping now." Joanne said.
Readjusting her hat, she began hopping from branch to branch, as she kept her footing. The Grimm behind her were doing better though, as they were more skilled in this expertise. Joanne didn't pay heed to them though, and just focused on her own pacing.
"I'm almost there. Just about to reach the meet-up point. Just got to…" Joanne didn't get a chance to finish her sentence. Her left foot missed the next branch, as she then fell off the tree, and tumbled down a hill, which had multiple rocks. Her speed only continued to increase, as her body continued to roll down the hill until she finally hit a tree.
"Ow. Geez. My back. Oh, my back." Joanne stood up, hunched forward. She then swung her body back, as it made multiple cracking and cricking noises. Finally, there was a snap. "Ah. Good, as, ne—"
The sound of sword piercing flesh was heard, as blood splatter over the ground. Joanne felt a surge pain course through her body. She looked down to see a metal blade sticking out of her abdomen. Behind her, there was a humanoid Beowolf standing behind her smiling.
Joanne still felt the pain, but at this point, she didn't really care. Her face only made a bleak smile as she then turned around, with the blade still in her body. The Beowolf's smile disappeared and was replaced with a confused look. Joanne only stared at the Beowolf and composed herself.
"*sigh* Cute." With what strength she still had in her right arm, she delivered a strong uppercut at the Grimm's face sending him flying into the air.
"AAAUAAAAAAUGH!"
Joanne only shook her head. "Me and my rotten luck." She then heard more footsteps coming from behind. She continued to run through the force, jumping over obstacles and evading more projectiles. It wasn't long until she reached a gigantic mountain side. The Grimm had finally caught up to her and had her surrounded with multiple weapons pointed at her. Dave and Gary were also a part of the group.
"Surrender now, Huntress! And we'll kill you!" Dave shouted.
"Um…Dave. It's 'surrender or we'll kill you'." Gary said.
"Yeah whatever. So, are we taking her as a prisoner or killing her on the spot?" Dave asked.
"Dude. The woman has a dagger in her arm, an arrow punctured through her shoulder, and a sword sticking out of her stomach. That fact that she looks dead but also alive should say a lot." Gary said.
"Imprisonment it is then."
The Grimm slowly approached her, armed with their weapons, while another got out cuffs. Joanne backed up until her back was touching the mountain.
She then let out a gasp and pointed behind the group. "Look! Over there! It's a flying thing!" she said in a fake sounding voice.
"Really? We're not that stupid fall for an old stunt like that." Gary said.
"Yeah! That was just a desperate lie." Dave said.
"Oh no. That wasn't lie. It's the cold, hard, green, truth." Joanne said.
Whirring sound was heard, as most of the Grimm looked up. They saw a bright green dot in the sky and grew bigger and bigger by the second. When it was close enough, the Grimm saw that it was none other than Penny, flying towards Joanne. Within the blink of an eye, Penny powered through the group of Grimm, sending them flying in multiple directions. She then reached out her hand grabbed Joanne's arm lifting her into the air with ease. The Grimm then looked up to see Penny hovering in the air, while Joanne looked down with a cocky smile.
"My fellow, Grimm! You shall all remember this as the day you almost caught, Captain Joanne Crane!"
"Who was saved by Penny Polendina!" Penny said with a smile as she flew off at high speeds leaving the Grimm in the dust.
The Grimm were now standing up, growling with spite they couldn't catch the Huntress.
"Huh. The Huntress was actually telling the truth this entire time." Gary said.
"Shut up, Gary." Dave said, annoyed.
(Elsewhere)
Within the Emerald Forest, Kirin was sitting on a rock, tinkering with some mechanical parts. She then heard the sound of a jet-like booster and looked up to see Penny descending from above, with Joanne, as the two touched down onto the ground.
"Fine work there, Ms. Polendina. Fine work indeed." Joanne said, brushing the dirt off her clothes.
"Thank you, Ms. Crane. You're an exceptional Huntress, being able to outrun a Grimm horde like that." Penny said.
"Well, when you had a bounty like mine over your head, you get really good running away."
"Amazing…Wait. Are you a fugitive?" Penny asked.
"I, WAS, a fugitive. Past tense for the record. Speaking of records, I think mine is clean-ish, since I died a long, long, long, long, time ago."
"How long exactly?" Penny asked.
"Eh. I lost count after 200 years." Joanne said.
"Joanne. I trust that you have what we need?" Kirin said.
"Sure thing. Penny. Close your eyes. This might be a bit graphic for someone like you." Joanne said.
Penny nodded, as she covered her eyes. Joanne the reached for her right eyeball, as she began twisting it and turning it. With a little bit of effort, she then pulled it out, revealing it to be a mechanical eyeball that had a red-light blinking. Joanne then placed the mechanical eye into Kirin's hand, who wasted no time into plugging it into computer armlet.
"So, is your camera eye-ball working fine?" Joanne asked.
"Footage looks good, and the audio is crisp. It's perfect. I just need to edit this make the resolution better and cut out what's not necessary." Kirin said, as she began fiddling with her tablet.
"Great. But before you do that, can you return my actual eyeball back, please?" Joanne asked, holding out her hand.
"Sorry about that." Kirin said. She then walked back over to the rock she was sitting at and picked up jar that contained Joanne's eyeball and gave it to her.
"You better be. Do you know how painful it is to yank one out?" Joanne said. Kirin just shrugged, also signaling Penny it was safe to uncover her eyes. Joanne then finally put her eye back in place as she smacked her head a few times and blinked as her right eye rolled back into place.
"Good as new!" Joanne said.
"Not quite." Kirin said, gesturing her hand to the dagger in Joanne's arm, arrow in her shoulder and sword in her stomach.
"Yeah. Probably should take care of that right now." Joanne said. She then proceeded to pull out the dagger on her right arm slowly, as blood began dripping and oozing from her wound.
"Joanne. I have a question. How come you didn't use your aura to deflect the damage? Don't all Huntsmen have one?" Penny asked.
"It's quite simple really. I'm already dead. And dead people can't have auras." Joanne finally pulled the knife out. She took a moment to appreciate the design and craftmanship of the blade and liked it enough that she decided to keep it. "My soul was cursed to stuck inside this rotten body, even after death. Muerta is the only reason while I was able to walk. My soul is just moving a lifeless corpse. My soul is puppeteer, and the body is the puppet." She said as she then pulled out the arrow from her shoulder.
"I suppose that makes sense. However, aura is the manifestation of the soul. So, since your soul is still in your body, shouldn't it be capable of generating an aura, even if the body is deceased?" Penny asked.
Joanne thought about it. "Don't know really. I feel like I'm neither dead nor alive. Just stuck in this form of limbo. Although, it's not all bad. I can drink it away."
"Joanne. You can't just drink away your problems. Heck. You drink even when you don't have problems!" Kirin said.
"Whatever. By the way, Penny. Should you care to help me remove this sword. The Grimm that stabbed me pushed it in deep and a tight spot. I could use that robotic muscle of yours."
"I do not have muscles. What you're referring to are the countless mechanical components that create my mechanical exo-skeleton which resembles human muscles."
"Yeah, yeah. Spare me the lecture. Just be gentle with pulling it out" Joanne said.
Without any hesitation, Penny grabbed the sword with both of her hands and pulled it out as gently as possible. However, Penny underestimated her own strength as she pulled the sword out cleanly, as Joanne's blood splatter over her body. Joanne the let out a scream as she the collapsed on to the ground.
"OH, MY GOODNESS THAT HURTS EVEN MORE THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD! OWWWWWWW! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH. AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAAAAAAAAAHA." Joanne screamed as she writhed in pain on the ground.
"I'm really sorry, Ms. Crane. Do you require any other forms of assistance? You're bleeding out." Penny said, concerned for her new friend.
"Don't worry. Despite being already dead…*cough* *cough*…my body still makes *cough* blood for some reason. Aaaaaaaaahh. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. Just need to lie down for a moment. *Blaarrgh*" Joanne said, vomiting up some blood.
Penny then walked over to Kirin and tugged on her shoulder, pointing to Joanne who was still bleeding all over. "Don't worry, Penny. This happens more often than you think. Muerta's magic will heal zombie wounds. I'm not expert on it, so don't ask me for the details. Although the wounds look more grievous than usual. It will take a while for her to recover. You just have deal with her groans and whining."
"Gahahgahhahghahahahaahaaaahaga."
"It can get annoying though." Kirin said.
"Hey! You weren't the one who infiltrated the enemy base! You don't deserve to talk about me like that." Joanne said, using whatever strength she had left to lift her arm into the air.
Kirin was silent for a moment. "Sorry. I'm…glad you made it back safe. If you want, I can do something for you."
"Can I have some rum?" Joanne asked.
"*sigh* Why not." Kirin said, sounding a little annoyed with Joanne's response.
Kirin's tablet began making a beeping noise, as a little green light flashed on the monitor. After pressing the button, a small holographic version of Ethan appeared on the tablet.
"Greetings, Ethan. How are you doing on this wonderful day?" Penny said.
"Fine, I suppose. Now on to the important stuff. Have you…why is Penny covered in blood?" Ethan asked, hesitantly.
"Don't worry. It's Joanne's blood. She's just bleeding out behind us. No need to worry." Kirin said.
Penny had a confused look as this was something, she was completely new to.
"You'll get used to it. We all did." Kirin said, as Joanne continued to groan in pain, as Penny saw that her wounds were slowly healing themselves.
"That is highly disturbing." Penny remarked.
Ethan, who was still on the call, didn't know what to think of the situation. He then composed himself to his serious attitude. "So, I'm calling again to check up on your progress. Is everything going well?" he asked.
"It is. Joanne just got back infiltrating the Grimm camp, and she obtain some great footage of a recent Grimm meeting." Kirin said.
"Trust me. The kids back in Jewel City need to see it. Oooooooowwwwww. Regenerating hurts."
(Yuno Residence)
Outside of the Yuno's house, Zack can be seen running up to the house as fast he could with team JNPR following behind. Zack then ran up to the door and banged as hard he could on the door.
"Zack. Calm down." Ren said.
"Calm down? I just heard that my best bud gained a growth spurt after dueling a Faunus with a Grimm deck, and you expect me to be calm. Do you even know me at this point?" Zack said, in an exaggerated tone.
"Ok. It's hard to stay calm in a situation like this. But don't you think you can dial back your emotions right now. I don't think Anna needs to see you like that." Ren said.
Zack thought about Ren's words as he took a deep breath and exhaled and did it a couple more times. "You're right, Ren. You are right. Got to be calm. Calm. Caaaaaalllllmmmm."
"Take your time, Zack. You got all day." Pyrrha said.
"Still. I would be lying if I wasn't curious about Ruby and Zwei's fusion form. It's sounds cool, but how exactly did it come to be?" Jaune said.
"Ruby told me she had a dream about riding Zwei for fun. I guess it is kind of funny if you think about it like that. Although, getting a growth spurt in a middle of duel does sound far-fetched. And that's coming from me." Nora said.
"I guess we'll just have to see it for ourselves." Pyrrha said.
The door to the house then opened to show Victoria cover in custard and red jelly.
"Oh, hi, Zack. I was wondering what happened when you suddenly hung up. I should've known you would have come" Victoria said.
"Yeah, but what happened with you?" Zack asked.
"I tried baking a pie for Anna, but it blew up in face. And now the kitchen is gigantic mess. Come on in. Anna's still sleeping upstairs, so please be quiet." Victoria said.
Zack and JNPR nodded as they entered in the house, as they immediately spell strawberry jelly and baked custard in the air. It wasn't bad, but it was bit overwhelming. Victoria went back to the kitchen to clean. They then saw team RWBY in the living room, with Zwei, talking about the previous duel.
"Wait this me and Zwei?" Ruby asked, looking at the fusion card.
Blake nodded. "Yep. That's you alright. Riding on Zwei. When Anna transformed, she managed to fuse you and Zwei. I was wondering what that would result with. But this is just insane on a whole new level."
"My baby sister riding on Zwei. At this rate you're going to be one outclassing me at this rate." Yang said.
"You sure you don't remember any of that, Ruby?" Blake asked.
"Not really. It's all fuzzy to me. I remembered that Anna was screaming, and then she fell. After that it's all blur to me. I don't know why. Hopefully we can get some answers when Anna wakes up. If that is Anna in the first place.
Weiss then took noticed that JNPR and Zack was in the house. "Hello, everyone. You want to see Ruby and Zwei's fusion card?"
Without any hesitation, JNPR and Zack rushed over and leaned over the couch to see the fusion monster.
"Dang, girl. That looks amazing." Nora said, giving Ruby a playful punch on the shoulder.
Jaune and Zack were speechless with their jaws hanging, as Jaune closed Zack's mouth, while Pyrrha closed Jaune's mouth. "The effects are pretty good. Although I've never heard of a huntsman that rode a wolf into battle."
"Nora. Don't get any idea about catching Beowolves to try this out." Ren said with a stern look.
Nora only pouted, as she threw away a notebook labeled, 'Beowolf Capturing 101'.
"Aside from the card, is Anna still…big?" Zack asked.
"Last we checked, yes. We don't want to disturb her, so we took a screen shot of her in the car. You can see them if you want." Blake said.
Team RWBY then took out their scrolls and sent pictures of Anna's new form to JNPR's scrolls, as they all saw a sleeping Anna in her new grown-up form. Zack looked over Jaune's shoulder to see.
"If you told me that this picture came from the future, I would've believed you." Zack said, stunned from what he was seeing.
"She looks so pretty and mature. I kind of like it." Pyrrha said.
"You can say that again." Nora said as she whistled.
"So, how exactly did this happen?" Jaune asked.
"Long story short, River pushed all of Anna's buttons. She screamed and became a woman. She has really good hair though." Yang said.
Before anyone could ask any more questions, they heard that a door opening above, followed by footsteps descending downstairs. Everyone turned their heads to see who it was. To their surprise it was none other than the grown-up version of Anna. However, she wasn't as elegant looking as last night. Her hair was all messed up, with several strands sticking up, or curled. Her clothes were all wrinkled and the jacket that was tied up around her waist was looser, as it was now being dragged across the floor. Her face showed that her eyes were barely opened, meaning that she was either sleep walking or barely awake, while drool was coming out of her mouth. The half-awake grown-up Anna walked to the kitchen, clearly not paying any heed to the people in the room.
Victoria then came out of the kitchen. "Hey, everyone. I was wondering if…you…want…". Words failed to come to Victoria's mouth as she just stared dumbfounded at the woman who had just walked right past her. Ignoring the mess, she then reached for the cabinet and took out a cup and filled it with water from the fridge. After quickly gulping down the water, she then turned around to head back upstairs. She suddenly stopped and sniffed the air. She noticed Victoria's failed pie attempt, as it was just custard pieces swimming in jelly. The woman then walked over to the pie and picked up both it and a nearby spoon. She plunged the spoon into the jelly, and then shoved it into her mouth. After chewing and swallowing it, the woman hummed to herself, and shrugged weakly. Taking more bites of the failed pie, she slowly made her way back upstairs with it.
"That was an odd first impression." Nora said.
"Not really. That just her morning mood. Everyone has one." Jaune said.
"Was she actually eating my cooking?" Victoria asked, to clarify what she saw.
"Apparently so. And that's the hardest thing to believe if I'm being honest." Weiss said.
"I won't argue with that." Victoria said.
"GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! WHAT IS IN MY MOUTH!?"
The scream came from upstairs and was high pitched. Everyone recognized the voice, as Anna came running down the staircase. She then ran towards the kitchen and grabbed the same cup she drank out of, quickly filling it up and then chugging down the glass. Anna proceeded to spit a couple of times in the sink and drink more water, while also gurgling, to get the bad taste out of her mouth. After repeating this process, she made her way to the couch and sat down, groaning in pain. She didn't even take notice to RWBY, JNPR or Zack. An awkward silence filled the air, as no one didn't know what to do. Zack was the first one to act as she poked Anna on the shoulder
"Anna?"
"WHAT THE WHAT!?" Anna screamed. She panted, holding her right hand to her chest, until her breathing slowed. "Zack. You're my best friend. But please, don't sneak up on me like that again!"
"Sorry. But it was kind of funny to see you jump like that." Zack said.
"Zack. Ugh. Why does my stomach feel like it has iron swimming in it?" Anna groaned.
"I think it was because you ate Victoria's failed pie." Ren said.
Anna looked at Ren with a puzzled look. "Why would do that? I've known my sister for fifteen years, meaning I've known her cooking for fifteen years. Eighty percent of the time it's disaster and I would know it before it even enters my mouth. No offense, Vicky."
"I have a 20% success rate. That's…actually quite higher than I expected." Victoria said.
"To answer your question, Anna. You somewhat indirectly ate the pie. Do you even recall what happened last night?" Blake said.
"Last…night?" Anna asked.
"Don't force yourself. Just take it easy." Pyrrha said.
Anna closed her eyes and tried to focus on the events from last night. "I…remember dueling River. Jackie was on the field. Something about, Zwei…Ruby maybe? A wolf?" she said.
"You fused them, Anna. Into this." Weiss said, holding up the fusion monster of Zwei and Ruby.
Anna grabbed the card and stared at it. "It's amazing." She then turned to Ruby. "You're amazing."
Ruby faced to red as she smiled. "Awwww. You're just saying that. Besides, half of the work is done by Zwei. Right boy?"
"Arf!" Zwei barked.
"Only thing is that I don't remember putting this in my deck." She then saw the Athena card. "I never had that card either!" Anna exclaimed.
"Anna! Breathe. Breathe!" Zack said.
"Yeah. Just calm down for a moment. You've been through a lot. Do you remember what happened during the duel? Just tell us what you remembered." Yang said.
Anna took more deep breaths, until she felt comfortable. "Ok. Last night's duel. I remember facing against River, and that he was kicking my butt badly. Just as I was taking my turn, he said something. What was that he said?"
Anna closed her eyes and envisioning the events of what happened last night. What she saw was River's mouth moving, however she only heard static. A small feeling of dread then loomed over her body. Her head began to hurt as she held it in pain.
"He…He said something to me…about being scared…and…and…argh." Anna winced in pain, as she held her head, as the only thing she heard in her head was static.
"Hey, hey! Take it easy. Just take it one step at a time." Ruby said.
"I know…I just can't…seem too…" Anna focused as hard as she could. Suddenly, a jolt went through her head, as she fell unconscious, with her head slamming on the coffee table.
"Anna!" Ruby screamed.
"Jeez, that looked like it hurt." Jaune said.
Everyone stared at Anna for a while, not sure of what to do. Zack was the first to move as he then extended his finger out towards Anna's right shoulder. "Anna?"
Before Zack's finger touched Anna's shoulder, her eyes then opened wide, but were sharper. In that instant, she quickly grabbed Zack's wrist with right arm, and threw out her left fist to punch him in the face. Zack yet out a yelp, as Anna, or if that who she was, stopped midway, with her fist inches away from Zack's nose.
Taking a closer look, Anna was now in her transformed state. The grown-up Anna looked shocked and let out gasp as she reeled back her fist. "I am so sorry, kid. I almost broke your nose. Now, here's some advice. Don't sneak up on people so casually like that. Otherwise, I might have sent you to the infirmary. And I would have to pay for your medical bill, and I don't have any money on me right now. Got it?"
"Uh…yeah. But can you let go of wrist now? You're squeezing it really tight." Zack said, with voice sounding strain.
"Oh. Sorry about that." Anna(?) said. She then looked around the room seeing the rest of the Huntsmen. Her attention was mostly on team RWBY. "I know you four. Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Bella…Bella…it was Bella-something. What was again?" Anna(?) asked.
"Belladonna."
"Thank you. And finally, we have Yang Xiao Lang."
"It's actually Yang Xiao Long."
"Close enough." she then turned her attention towards JNPR. "And you four…I have no idea who you guys are." Anna(?) said.
"Well. That's harsh. I'm Jaune Arc."
"Hello there. Pyrrha Nikos. It's nice to meet, I think." Pyrrha said, unsure of what to think of the situation.
"Lie Ren."
"NORA!"
"Last name?" Anna(?) asked.
"…VALKYRIE! Introductions aside, shouldn't you introduce yourself to us? I mean, are you Anna or not? I believe I speak for all of us when I say that we don't know what to call you. So, are you Anna?" Nora asked.
Anna(?) hummed to herself thinking of the correct response. "Would you accept both a yes and no for an answer?" she said.
"What do you mean by that? Could you explain yourself properly so we can understand?" Pyrrha asked.
"Ok then. You see, I am Anna. But I'm also not Anna. Let's just say I'm another version of her. If you're still confused, will it be easier to say I live her head?" Anna(?) asked.
Ruby was lost in thought for a moment. Her face then lit up as she smacked her left fist on her right palm. "Wait a minute. You're the voice that randomly talks to Anna from time to time."
"Right you are, Ruby. Although random part was mostly due to the fact, we weren't in sync that much. I can talk to her through dreams. But there's little windows of opportunity to talk to her during dreams. They can get a bit fuzzy at times. The only reason why I'm talking to you now is due to that strange awakening in that last duel. I don't know the details, but something in her brain clicked and bam. Here I am." Anna(?) said, reclining on the couch and spreading out her arms.
"Okay. Do you have a name? You say that you and Anna are the same, but do you have a different name? It's kind of confusing. Mostly for me." Yang said.
"Sorry about that. You may call me Amaranth Yui. Pleasure to meet you all."
"Well, Amaranth. Would you mind telling us what you're doing in Anna's body, or head?" Weiss asked.
"I would be most happy to. The reason why I'm here is because…because…um…uuuhhhhh" Amaranth tapped her head, as her smile faded, replaced with a confused frown. "Wait. I believe I was…no that's not it." she said, while scratching her head.
"Please don't tell us that you don't remember." Weiss said.
"I didn't forget it! I knew what I was here for ever since I've been dream-talking to Anna. For some reason, I just can't recall it right now! Come on stinking, brain. Workworkworkworkworkworkworkworkwork! WORK!" she said, as she began banging her right fist on the side of her head.
Jaune then immediately held her fist back. "Hey, hey! Don't hurt your head both physically and mentally! Relax and just calm down. Hurting yourself isn't going to help."
"You're right, Johnny."
"It's just Jaune."
"Apologies. I need to focus. And what better way to focus than putting some grub in my stomach." She turned to Victoria. "Excuse me, Victoria. Can I call you, V?"
"I-I don't see any reason why you can't." Victoria said, still trying to take in everything that was happening.
"Cool. Is it okay if I can raid your fridge? I would feel horrible if I raided somebody's fridge without their permission."
"If you can find anything edible in there, go ahead. Technically, you have Anna's stomach, so I guess it's the same thing as Anna eating something out of the fridge. In a way." Victoria said.
"Thank you, so much." Amaranth said. She then got up walked toward the fridge and opened it with anticipation. However, her jaw dropped as she stared at the contents of the fridge.
Looking downward, she jumped startled at something she just saw. Her face then cringed, as she also saw something that didn't sit well with eyesight. One thing then caught her attention, as she quickly leaned forward with eyes wide open and her mouth gaping open. Amaranth then turned her head to Victoria while pointing at something within the fridge.
"Is that…?"
"Yes. It is." Victoria said
"Does that mean…?"
"Uh huh. It does."
Amaranth only stared at whatever she was looking at in the fridge in silence. "Whoa. Does Anna know?"
"She sees this kind of stuff every day. I'm sure she would just roll her eyes and not even bat an eye." Victoria said.
"Hmmmm. That is interesting." Amaranth then went back to searching the fridge for something to eat.
"What do you think she saw?" Pyrrha asked.
"Some mysteries are better left unsolved." Ren said.
Amaranth was shifting the items within the fridge, some with the utmost care, until her face lit up. "Hah! An egg custard tart!" she said with glee, pulling out the plate. "It's my favorite desert ever since I was 5-years old. And even in a different body, I bet I'll still love it."
Amaranth then grabbed a nearby fork and plunged it into the tart, breaking off a piece and proceeded to put it in her mouth. Victoria then quickly realized something.
"Wait! Don't eat…"
"*Chomp*"
"…that." Victoria said.
"What's wrong with it? It looks normal to me." Ruby said.
"On the outside, yes…but on the inside…it's kind of goopy." Victoria explained.
Amaranth then looked at the custard and saw a yellow liquid slowly making its way out of the custard. Upon chewing, it felt sticky, with a texture of a gummy candy. As for taste…to her, it was still sweet. After chewing she then gulped it down and proceeded to go for another bite.
"Well, it isn't the egg custard tart I remember. But it isn't that bad." Amaranth said.
"You…like my cooking?" Victoria asked, sounding confused.
"Kind of. I give it a C plus, since it's not accurate, but it's an interesting taste. In my own opinion, it's actually pretty-." Amaranth then fell on her back during mid-sentence, dropping everything she was holding. Everyone was shocked as they immediately ran over to where she laid.
"Amaranth?" Ruby said
"You think she's dead?" Jaune asked.
"No. She still breathing. Although, I'm actually surprised she is after eating Victoria's cooking." Blake said.
"I appreciate the honesty." Victoria said.
Zack thought about reaching his hand out to the woman, but remembered what happened the last time, and quickly withdrew his arm. He learned his lesson. "Psst. Amaranth. You still there?" he whispered, thinking it was a safer option.
Amaranth's eyes then opened, but where much wider. Sitting up right was none other than Anna, who somehow transformed within a blink of an eye. She had a disgusted look on her face, as she then held her right hand to her mouth and her cheeks puffed up. She immediately got up and ran for the first-floor bathroom. What followed was the sound of vomiting, gurgling, groaning, and coughing. After flushing the toilet, Anna emerged from the bathroom, with her hand clutching her stomach.
"Ugh. What the heck was in my stomach? And why does my mouth feel sticky?" Anna said, smacking her lips to get the strange aftertaste out of her mouth.
Zack approached her friend slowly, being more careful than usual. "Uh…Anna?"
Anna slowly turned her head towards Zack. "Zack. What the heck is going on here? I was at the couch, passed out, wound up on the kitchen floor and what I assume is a yellow sugary goo in my mouth."
"It's kind of hard to explain, so I'll just say it out right. The weird lady you keep hearing in your head randomly took over your body and made you eat Victoria's goo-custard." Zack said.
Anna only looked at her friend with a puzzle look. "Huh?"
"I said that the weird lady you keep hearing in your-."
"Yeah, yeah. I know what you said. I just not sure how to take this in. The lady who's been talking to me had taken over my body?" Anna asked.
"Two times to be precise." Weiss said.
"What!?"
"First time was during the duel against River. You technically stayed that until this morning. The second was not too long ago. It's also during the period where Amaranth ate the goo-tart." Weiss explained.
"Amaranth?"
"It's the name of the lady who lives in your head. She apparently like the goo-tart." Weiss said.
"…She likes my sister's cooking!?" Anna exclaimed.
"I think that's something we're all equally surprised by." Victoria said.
"If it's coming from the cook herself, those words have value." Nora said, with a smile.
Anna still looked puzzled, as she scratched the right side of her head. She clenched her eyes shut as she tried to piece together everything she had just heard. "Ok. I can safely assume that I've been body jacked. And this Amaranth person I'm going to assume has no taste buds."
"But when Amaranth hijacks your body, doesn't she also use your tongue, meaning that she's using your taste buds? So, in a sense you would be saying that you yourself have no tastebuds." Zack pointed out.
Anna didn't really know how to respond to that logic. She struggled to form words stuttering, as she scratched her head, ruffling up her hair in the process. "Arrrrrrggghhh! I don't know! Maybe my brain is all whacked out! Everyone is saying something, but I can't seem to grasp the concepts of the words that are coming out of your mouths! Is just so much for me in the morning." Anna said.
"It's actually 11:30 am." Zack said, who was somehow still calm.
Anna then grabbed Zack by the shoulders "IT'S STILL TECHINCALLY MORNING THEN! And this a lot for a morning. I hate mornings! I don't know what is going on, my brain is spinning, and feel like it's going to explode!" Anna screamed, while shaking Zack.
A jolt then flashed through her head, as she then slumped forward. Zack was startled by the Anna suddenly dropping, but he quickly caught her before she hit the floor. "Whoa, whoa. Easy there, Anna. I think she got a little heavier."
"You really shouldn't say that to a girl." Ruby said, since she lived with Yang.
"Isn't honesty one of humanity's greatest virtues?" Zack asked.
"Would you say it to Yang though if you thought that?" Blake asked.
"Probably. Mia says I have tendency to blurt out what's on my mind without thinking." Zack said.
"I can respect that. I usually ended up getting angry without thinking too." Yang said.
Anna's hair then sudden grew outwards becoming long once more, as Zack felt an increase in weight, realizing what was about to happen. "Uh oh."
The sudden increase in weight overwhelmed Zack as he then fell to the floor as Anna who is now Amaranth rolled over his body onto the floor. Her eyes then opened, as she looked over the entire room, and then noticed Zack groaning in pain. She then looked up to see everyone else was looking down at her.
"So, how's everyone day going?" Amaranth asked.
"Weird and wacky so far." Nora said.
"Better than horrible and trashy. I take any other day over a day like that. By the way, didn't I black out on the kitchen floor and not the living room floor?" Amaranth asked, as she took off the jacket and wrapped the sleeves around her waist.
Jaune's face then lit up. "I think I understand what's going on here."
"Really? Then do enlighten us, Jaune." Ren said.
"Well, first off, what happened with Anna when she first transformed into her?" Jaune asked Blake.
"She had headache after River said…some things to her." Blake said.
"Alright. I think that confirms it. I believe Anna transforms into Amaranth whenever she feels any feelings of intense stress. We saw that happened two times so far. The first time was when she tried to recall yesterday's events, it must have triggered some stressful feelings for her. The second time was not too long ago where she was having one her…uh…what them call it Zack?" Jaune asked.
"Freak-outs. Meltdowns. Brain Scrambles. I made lots of names for it. Just take your pick." Zack said, standing up.
"Yeah. So, after seeing what happened, I think it's safe to assume that Anna changes into Amaranth when she experiences some form of extreme stress." Jaune explained.
Everyone was silent for a moment, to take a moment to think about what Jaune said, and thought it made sense now.
"But how does Amaranth turn back into Anna?" Ren asked.
"Probably a gag reaction by Anna's actually body. Even though Amaranth's mind might find it edible to eat, it's still Anna's body, meaning her stomach doesn't agree with it." Jaune said.
"Wonderful deductions, Jaune. There's a reason why you're JNPR's leader." Pyrrha said.
"Thanks, Pyrrha. That means a lot to me." Jaune said, smiling.
"So, wait. Is Amaranth going to come out when Anna has a meltdown? She kind of has one from time to time, from what we've seen." Yang asked.
"Oh. I wouldn't worry. Compare to what has happened recently, previous freak-outs I've seen, I can safely safe that these are category 5. The others were one, two or three. So, if it doesn't involve hurt her mentally, I think she'll be fine." Zack said.
Amaranth who was listening to all this had her hand on her chin and appeared to be in deep thought. "Hmm, hmm. I see. That would explain a couple of things." She then stood up and began pacing around the room.
"Like what exactly?" Weiss asked.
"For starters, I should be able to communicate with Anna in my head. Whoever is out and can hear the other person in their heads. But I can't seem to hear Anna." Amaranth then began knocking on the side of her head. "Hello? Anyone home? Wakey, wakey, eggs and bacon. *sigh* Nothing."
"Is there more?" Ren asked.
"Yes. I think my connection with Anna is not complete. Like the Zack kid say, she's awakening to me via stress. Normally, I believe we can both change back and forth as we please. However, I don't think we're completely on the same wavelength, or in sync." Amaranth said, as she paced around the room while tapping her finger on her chin.
"Or in duel-monsters terms, you're not, tuned together." Yang said.
Everyone either groaned or rolled their eyes at Yang's punned, while Zack snickered at it. Amaranth only tilted her head, confused at the joke. "As I was saying, my connection with Anna is not correct. Hence this explains my lack of memories. When I was knocked out, I did a little diving into my own head."
"What?" Weiss remarked.
"It's a double mind thing. What I discovered was that some of my memories have been locked out due to the immature awakening." Amaranth said.
"I don't get it." Ruby said.
"Ok. Pretend my brain is a computer. A computer has memory. My brain is still downloading the memory but stopped halfway. I require a password to continue downloading, and the passcode is Anna being completely in sync with me. Does that make more sense?" Amaranth asked.
"Kind of. Although it would be nicer if you could tell us something more useful." Weiss said.
"Oh, come on! This is my first time doing this whole two-soul-one-body gig. I'm not entirely sure how the inner machinations of it work. I don't even know where to begin. Like I said before, most my memories, sadly the important ones, are locked out." Amaranth said.
Blake thought of something as she picked up two of the cards from the table. "Quick question. Do these cards invoke some kind feelings or memories within you?" she asked.
Amaranth grabbed the two cards, revealing them to be the Athena and the fusion card. Her eyes narrowed onto the cards, as she focused intensely on the cards. "Duel-Monsters. I'm familiar with this game."
"Not surprising. Almost everything in this world revolves around this card game." Ruby said.
"Yeah. But one feels personal to me, while the other, I can sense familiarity with it. Hmmm. I can't seem to put a pin on it." Amaranth said.
"Is there anything else that you remember?" Jaune asked.
"Hmmm. Well, it's not concise, but I only know that I'm suppose stop something and help you all out. Other than that, I can only remember small stuff, like my preferences, likes, dislikes, and…yeah, that's about it." Amaranth said.
"I don't mean to be rude, but that's not really useful." Yang said.
"Sorry. Considering that I am useless, I think it would be best if turned back into Anna now." Amaranth said.
"Um, Ms. Amaranth? You aren't going to take over my sister's body and soul? I'm concerned you might do that." Victoria asked.
"What!? I would never do that. That's the same thing as murdering her! I think. Just think of me as her spiritual-roommate who's bunking in her brain. I know it sounds weird, but just roll with it for now." Amaranth said, patting Victoria on the shoulder.
No one really knew what was really going on in Amaranth's mind. She didn't seem to pose a threat to anyone, especially Anna. For now, they'll trust her that she'll stand by her word. It wasn't the best idea at the time, but there weren't any other good ideas.
"Alright. Now, before I go, I need you all to do something for me."
"What is that?" Ruby asked.
"It's about Anna. I may have a weak link with her right now, but I can still sense she is dealing with a lot on her plate. She's very stubborn to admit it, but she is struggling with something in her head. If you guys can heal her mentally, it would really help a lot. Just give her some time, some emotional confidence and she might be willing to open up to you all. And hey. That might strengthen our link." Amaranth said.
"You'll sure that it will work?" Blake asked.
"Hopefully. Afterall, a strong mind results with a strong heart. Something among those lines. Just take your time with Anna, but not too much of it though. Hehehe."
"It's a promise. We'll make sure she'll be okay." Ruby said.
"Great. Now to turn back." Amaranth then got up and walked over to the fridge, knowing it was the only way to turn back. At least the only known method. She eyes searched for the least lethal looking creation, until she saw a bottle with a strange light orange liquid.
"What this?" Amaranth asked, holding up the strange bottle.
"That's actually one of my successful attempts. It's a concoction that helps relax the mind and helps a person focus. Unfortunately, it has a horrid stench. Trust me, I tried it. It helped with my studies, but the aftertaste is not nice." Victoria said.
Amaranth then unscrewed the cap and took a quick whiff of the drink. "Smells okay to me." She then turned to everyone in the room. "Gentlemen and ladies. In the short amount of time, I had spent with you, I am a glad woman to know to that both me and Anna are in capable hands. I bid you all farewell. Until we meet again! Bottoms up!"
She then held the bottle to her lips, reeled back her head, as she chugged to whole bottle within a matter of seconds. Once she finished, she threw the bottle on the ground for dramatic flair. "Ahhhh. That was really refreshing. It tasted like a fruit juice, of oranges, I think some cranberry, and peaches. I actually like…"
Amaranth then fell backwards during mid-sentence, signaling the transformation. Zack meanwhile tiptoed over to Anna and stared down at his friend. "Hey. Anna. You oka-."
Zack didn't get a chance to finish what he was saying, as Anna spitted out the juice that she consumed as Amaranth into his face.
"AAaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh! It's in mouth! It's in my eyes! It's in my nose! TO THE BATHROOM I GO!" Zack yelled, as he ran towards the first-floor bathroom.
Everyone then saw that Anna was back to her original self and looked pretty okay compared to last time she was fully conscious.
"How does she turn back that fast? I mean, it's almost instantaneous of how she changes back and forth." Blake said.
"Magic?" Ruby suggested.
"Let's just go with that for now for simplicity sake." Weiss said.
"I'll go check-up on Zack." Jaune said.
"I'll come with you. In case you need assistance." Ren said, following his leader.
Yang was the first to approach Anna. "Yo, Anna. Are you feeling better?"
"Kind of. My mouth smells and tastes like garlic and onion juice. On the bright side, my head feels very relaxed, and I think I can focus more easily. So, I'm going to guess that you were all talking with that other version of me?" Anna asked. Her cleared head allowed her to think more clearly.
"Yeah. She's a nice person once you get to know her. Only problem is that some of her memories are missing." Yang said.
"Oh. So, it's an amnesia cliché." Anna replied.
"Not really. She said that her memories are locked up somewhere in your head, and the key is strengthening your link with her." Weiss said.
Anna only rubbed her eyes and then her forehead, doing her best to keep calm and not freak-out like she usually does when under stress. "Okay. Okay. Just give me some time to think through this. I just need a moment of peace without something weird happening."
"Does this mean I have to stay in the bathroom?" Zack asked from the bathroom.
"No, Zack. I appreciate your company and I feel more at ease with you around." Anna replied.
"Okay. Just give some time to wash up. Yuck! It's even in my ear! How's that even possible?" Zack said.
Anna only sighed and closed her eyes. "Just a moment of peace universe. That's all I'm asking for."
Suddenly, magic portal appeared within the living room, and hovered in the air. Everyone pulled out their weapons, prepared to fight whatever may come out. What came out was none other than Ethan Hono, who fell out of the portal, and landed on the couch, in a crossed arm position. Lu the proceeded to fall off as she bounced off Ethan's head, who really didn't mind, and landed on the table with her arms raised in the air.
"Perfect landing!" Lu said. She then turned around to everyone else. "Sorry, about the rude intrusion. We tried to teleport in front of your door, but Ethan's teleporting gear malfunctioned again."
"Does the universe find joy in my misfortune? Hello, Ethan. I suppose you have a reason for literally dropping by. You're not the type of guy to come hang out with others." Anna said.
"You got me there. I have urgent news." He then turned to RWBY and JNPR. "It involves your home-world, Remnant." He then pulled out a DvD, from his pocket, making everyone curious of what was on it.
Zack then came out of the bathroom and spotted Ethan. "Oh. Hi, Ethan. You're having a nice day?"
Ethan turned around, a little shocked by Zack's sudden appearance. "Uh…well. I guess I am."
"That's good to know." Zack said, grinning while holding a thumbs-up.
Ethan then shook his head and focused on what he had to do. "You all need to see this."
The DvD that Ethan brought was none other than the recording that Joanne had captured with the camera-eye she had used. The chase scene wasn't included though. After playing the video, everyone had different expressions. Ruby and Yang had terrified looks, as they exchanged glances. Blake had her hands to her mouth, with a horrified expression. Weiss only bit her teeth, as she seethed with a bit of rage. Jaune only looked down, not sure of what to think of it, while Pyrrha held his hand to try and comfort him. Ren and Nora looked at each other, unsure of what to do. Anna and Zack had grim expressions, while Victoria was in shock.
Ethan then took out the DvD and put it back into his pocket. "So, I know this is tough for all of you, but what do you plan to do now?" he asked.
Team RWBY and JNPR, all exchanged looks with each other, unsure of what to do. Who could blame them? They've just heard that the Grimm were about to invite the most unpleasant Spirits to Remnant and have them cause as much destruction as possible. It wasn't until Ruby made a determined face and spoke up, breaking the silence.
"We're going to find a way to stop them! That's what we will do! Remnant is our home and many of our friends and family live there. So, I won't sit here on my butt, and do nothing!" Ruby said.
"I'm with Ruby on this one. Even if we're huntsmen in training, we must do what we were taught to do. We may not have a clear-cut method on how to solve it, but this isn't a matter whether we can or cannot solve it. We have to solve it." Jaune said.
Ruby smiled at Jaune, as the two team-leaders fist-bumped each other. Seeing their leaders filled with confidence helped raise moral slightly among their teammates.
"I whole heartly agree. If the Grimm want to bring a mean spirit-party to Remnant, then I say we crash it real hard." Yang said, slamming her fists together.
Blake nodded with a smile, as she wasn't much of a talker.
"No one should have to go through an invasion like that in their lives. No one." Ren said in a serious tone.
"And everyone needs a home to come back to." Nora said solemnly, as the two recalled memories of the past.
"While I agree that we should do something, what is it that we should do?" Weiss asked.
"Weiss has a point. We can't charge in blindly without a plan and without information." Pyrrha said, as she began thinking.
"I wouldn't worry about that." Ethan said, as everyone turned their attention towards him. "I've heard your ambition to save your home, and I'll help." He then turned on his teleportation device on his tablet, opening a portal. "Come with me. There's someone I want to introduce to all of you."
"Alright, let's do this!" Zack yelled, as he charged towards the portal. Blake then hovered in front of him, as Zack immediately stopped
"Zack. Is it okay if you can do something else for us today?" Blake asked.
"Okay. What is it?"
"We need you to see River Sticks for us. We actually had plans to visit him today." Blake said.
"Wait. We did?" Anna replied.
Victoria then stepped in to explain. "We talked about our deal over it on the phone. He said that he was going to start covering shifts for the rest of the week and that he had to devote next week to studies for a test. So, it's either today or we wait for 2-weeks."
"Are you sure we should send Zack? He might get hurt." Yang said.
"That's only because you popped paper-bag over his head, while he was sleeping." Weiss remarked.
"Other than that, he is willing to talk with us. Just don't make him angry. Though, I doubt it will ever come to that." Anna said.
"Why is that?" Zack asked.
"I dunno. I feel like that both you and River operate on a similar wavelength. River's eccentric as well as odd, and you're just plain crazy." Anna said.
Zack only proceeded to grin at the statement. "You got that right! Don't, Anna. We'll do you proud. Jaune. Give us the order!" he said.
"Right! JNPR-Z! Make way for River's place!" Jaune declared, as the rest of JNPR cheered.
"JNPR-Z?" Blake questioned.
"Oh. It's temporary team-name that includes Zack's name in the mix. Surprisingly, Ren was the one who came up with the idea." Pyrrha said.
"Many forms of media, including anime, manga, novels, movies, and video games usually incorporate on putting the letter Z at the end of their franchises as a way of either making spin-offs, movies, re-boots, squeals or just for quick cash-grabs. Who says we can do that with our team name?" Ren said.
"I don't know. It sounds a bit weird to me." Weiss said, crossing her arms.
"Still a better team name than RWBY plus Anna." Nora remarked.
"It's not official." Anna said, sounding annoyed.
"Don't worry, we can up with a better name like…uh…um…RWBY…Alpha!" Ruby said. Everyone only gave her deadpanned looks. "It's sounded better in my head. For now, we'll stick with RWBY plus Anna." Anna groaned after hearing that, with an annoyed look on her face.
"Ahem." Everyone then turned over to Ethan who had his arms crossed and was tapping his feet, showing that he was losing patience.
"Guys. I don't mind you discussing team-names, but you don't want to deal with a cranky Ethan. He got it from Cavalier." Lu said. Ethan only scowled. "And trust me. You don't want to deal with what comes after cranky."
"Please shut up, Lu." Ethan said, sounding frustrated.
After making some preparations, RWBY and Anna were ready to move out into the portal, while JNPR and Zack made their way to River's apartment. Victoria had to stay behind since she had work tonight. Both groups didn't know what to expect, but they could only be prepared.
(Spirit World)
Upon exiting the portal, with team RWBY turning back to their full heights, the group found themselves standing in front of a light-brown, three-story building. On top of the building was the name of the building was "Oasis' Card Hangout". There were some people hanging out at the entrance. Some examining cards, while others were chatting with each other. Some took notice of team RWBY's attire but didn't think much of it since this was the Spirit-World after all. The group then made their way inside, and it looked like a standard lobby, with some tables, house plants for decorations, and a card shop area selling different booster packs, dice, and some duel-disks. The place was lively, as there many employees working and other duelists hanging out here.
Ethan then walked up to the front desk as the female receptionist greeted him. Everyone else, went a nearby couch to rest.
"Ah. Mr. Hono. A pleasure to see you again. Ms. Rhyme said you were coming by today. I'll call her down for you." The receptionist said. She then picked up the phone and dialed a number.
Ethan then walked back to the group and sat down on a sofa chair.
"Hey, Ethan. What kind of place is this?" Blake asked.
"It's a…something like a hangout area for duelists. It's well known in the Spirit World. It's not surprising if you haven't heard about it." Ethan explained.
"There's a lot of people here. I'm surprised that they aren't mostly Duel-Spirits themselves." Weiss said.
"Not every being that lives in the Spirit World is a duel-spirit. Then again, most of the people that are here come from earth. Anyway, Ethan. How do you think she's going to appear this time?" Lu said.
"Hmm. I'm betting it's going to involve an explosion." Ethan said.
"Who exactly are you talking about?" Yang asked.
"Oh, it's our…acquaintance. She likes to make dramatic entrances. We've known her for so long, we technically expect something like that." Ethan said.
"You'll see. She should be here soon."
"Or she could right be here right now!" A refined female voice said.
Team RWBY and Anna looked around to see where the voice came from, while Ethan and Lu jumped out of their chairs, with shocked expressions.
"S-sabrina? Where are you? I can't see you." Ethan said, in a panicked tone.
"Closer than you think." The woman known as Sabrina said.
Ethan eyes darted all over the place but failed to find the source. Suddenly, a fist burst out the floor startling everyone as they all moved away. Another hand the burst out of the floor, as the two hands then slammed down on the floor. A body slowly emerged from the ground, revealing a woman with long black hair. The woman then used both of her arms to heave herself out of the hole and jumped into the air and landed on the ground. Getting the full view, she was wearing dark-grey blazar, with a white undershirt with a red-tie, along with long black-pants, with a black overskirt and black high-heels with grey socks. She had two narrow dark-blue eyes, and smooth black hair. She then brushed her hair upward and twirl her hair to straighten it out.
"Ta-da! Presenting, the one and only, and yours truly, SABRINA RHYME!" Sabrina shouted, as she held her arms up high, looking proud of her presentation.
Everyone had a mixed expression of being puzzled and shocked, as they didn't know what to think of what they saw. Ethan was the first to regain his composure as he approached Sabrina.
"Um…Sabrina. How did you punch through the concrete?" he asked.
"Oh, it's not really concrete." Sabrina said picking up a piece of the supposed rubble. "It's breakable plastic." She then effortlessly snapped piece in half, and then smashed them both on Ethan's head. "See. Doesn't hurt at all."
Ethan didn't seem to mind her antics. "Okay at this point, how I am not use this yet? Anyways, did you just removed an entire portion of the floor just so you can bust out of it" he asked.
Sabrina only threw out her arms out, with a confused look. "Yes? You say that like it's something I wouldn't do. Busting through a wall or the floor is fun. Of course, busting through an actual wall is expensive, both for the building and the medical bill, and I don't have the right physique for it. So, I'll settle for fake plastic walls. Plus, it's cheaper. Also, don't worry about the big hole. I'll get it fixed up."
Ethan only stared at Sabrina with a dumbfounded look. "You spend your money on the weirdest things."
"Hey. It's my money, and I earned it through blood, sweat, and tears. I can spend it on whatever I want. By the way…" Sabrina then flicked Ethan on the forehead with her fingers. "Acquaintance? Really? I've known you ever since I hired you for that mission in Maldoche world, and I kept hiring you because you were good at you what you did, and heck! Sometimes we just hung out! Are you really that embarrassed use the word friend?" Sabrina said.
"Sabrina. Don't be silly. Of course, he is!" Lu said.
"Whose side are you on?" Ethan questioned.
Lu then walked over to where Sabrina was standing and pointed to her. Ethan only groaned.
"Oh, lighten up, Ethan. I'm just messing with you. Now then if you'll excuse me. I'm going to go introduce myself to the lovely group over there." Sabrina said as she approached team RWBY and Anna.
While Ethan took a moment to reorganize his thoughts, team RWBY and Anna were still in a state of shock after seeing Sabrina's entrance from the floor, and her carefree interactions with Ethan.
"You must all be team RWBY, and their duelist Anna." Sabrina then went to each member and shook their hands one at a time. "It's a pleasure to meet you, a pleasure to meet you, a pleasure to meet you, a pleasure to meet you, and a pleasure to meet, you. So, mind introducing yourselves?" Sabrina asked.
"Uh…Ruby Rose." Ruby said.
"Weiss…Schnee."
"Blake Belladonna."
"I feel like we done something like this before." Yang said, as Blake hit her with her elbow. "Yang Xiao Long. Nice entrance. Do you have spare breakable wall?"
"Yes, but also no. It's just bunch of stackable foam bricks. I stack them up in front of my office door, so I can bust through it for that extra charge of energy. It may be fake, but it feels real, and it feels good. You know what else feels good? Eating with friends. Come on, there's a snack bar on the first floor. Come along now. My treat." Sabrina said, walking away from the group. She then turned around and gesture her hand for the group to follow.
Ethan then soon followed and turned to everyone else. "Here's a couple of tips. Tip one: she has a big ego and loves it. Do not praise her too much. She will bask in that praise. Magrave did it once and he somehow came back with his sanity. Her lungs are super strong. Tip two: she is an ambitious woman and will do whatever it takes achieve her goals. Just trust me on this one. I've seen it for myself. That woman is powered by sheer will and fight power."
"Coming from you, it must be a big deal." Weiss said.
Sabrina then peeked from the corner. "HEY! You fellas coming or not!" she shouted.
"Let's hurry and go before she makes us come over there." Ethan said, as he hurried over, while Lu followed.
"I think I saw fear in Ethan's eyes." Blake said.
"Really? If that's true, then Sabrina has to be an unique individual." Anna said.
"Anna. The woman removed a small portion of the floor so she can bust out of a plastic one. You can't get any more unique than that." Ruby remarked.
Eventually, everyone met up with Sabrina, who had bought a variety of snacks, such as chips, Takoyaki, and some pizza with some soda.
"You know. There something so unique about the simplicity of street-food. Fancy meals are nice and all, but…this!" Sabrina held up a piece of Takoyaki. "I take a plate of these marvels over a banquet any day. Although, it's not a good diet." She then noticed everyone giving her looks. "Ah. Forgive me. Where are my manners? I should give you all a moment to talk. So, what do you want to talk about?" she asked.
"Well, for starters, can you tell us a bit more about yourself?" Anna asked.
"I would love to. Now where to start. For you see, I'm the next-in line president for Rhyme Trading Company. It primarily focuses on the trading market across different locations of the Spirit World. My father is planning on stepping down and giving the reins to me." Sabrina said.
"So, in other words, you're an heiress like Weiss." Ruby said.
"Huh. What were the odds of that? Well, from one future business lady to another, I wish the best of luck of you becoming a great president." Sabrina said.
"Likewise. So, what are you doing here of all places? You mentioned you had an office here. I'm going to assume that you work here." Weiss said.
"Oh, not just work. I run the whole building." Sabrina said.
"What!? You own this entire place?" Yang asked.
"Yep-yep. My father gave me a challenge, start a business venture. He gave me some money and told me to run a side business. For practice. He said that I need to develop managing skills, leadership skills, social skills, and other skills if I want to truly succeed him. Hands on experience is the best way for me to learn. So, I decided to start up a little hangout area in the Spirit World. I thought the best way for me to improve both business skills and my social network would be to create a social hub for duelists." Sabrina said.
"But why the Spirit World of all places?" Blake asked.
"Well, you know how there some duelists who can see spirits, such as yourselves? Surprisingly, there are a quite a handful of Duelist who know about the Spirit world. So, this is a little gathering hub for those kinds of duelists. Plus, there are other people who live in the Spirit World. I want this place to be a place where people who have a passion for this game can come and hangout, just to have fun. I mean, Duel-Monsters in the first place is about having fun. Kind of."
"I guess it's an easy thing to forget when Grimm are fighting us with the game." Weiss said.
"But what do you mean by 'kind of'?" Ruby asked.
Sabrina's cheerful face made a slight grimace as she scratched her right cheeks. "I…have love-hate relationship with this game. But that's entirely different topic. As for the Grimm situation, don't take this wrong way, but it's actually quite common for stuff like this to happen." Sabrina said.
"How's it common? The Grimm from our world are using the Spirit World to destroy our home world. Technically Grimm trying to kill us is common but using the Spirit World to kill us is not normal." Blake said.
Before Sabrina could answer, she then noticed three individuals walking near them. The three in turn noticed her and waved with friendly smiles as they approached. The first one was an 18-year-old male, with brown hair, wearing a black vest, blue jeans, and a blue t-shirt.
Second individual was also a male who appeared to be a year younger than the previous male. He had look of that he was born of Hispanic nationality with dark brown eyes and his hair is black at the roots, then gradually lightens to hazel at the tips. He wears an orange shirt under a red denim vest, black pants and running shoes. He also has a bullet shaped pendant on a silver chain around his neck.
The third was a female who appeared to be nineteen years old and the nationality of Korean, wearing a Qipao dress and black-high heels on her feet. She had red-velvet hair and wore makeup with purple eyeshadow with golden red lipstick.
Sabrina then got up and greeted them with smiles. "Ah. It's always nice to see you three here." Sabrina said, as she shook their hands. She then turned to everyone else. "Everyone. I would like to meet some regulars here. This is Francis Charon."
"Hey there."
"David Ritcher."
"Hola." David said.
"And finally, Arisu Kou."
"Annyeonghaseyo. Say, aren't that Anna girl? The one who uses team RWBY cards?" Arisu asked.
"Uh…yeah. That would be me." Anna said.
"Nice! And these must be the spirits. I feel like a VIP since you don't get to see Spirits like these in the flesh." Francis said.
"Indeed. Most likely, the only way we'll see them again is when they attack us with their weapons. By, the way...up red girl." David said.
"Me?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah. How do you carry such a heavy scythe anyway?" David asked.
Ruby only smiled. "I'm a lot stronger than you think. It's still heavy to wield, so I must twist my body in a circular motion, to keep up with the momentum of the blade. Other times, I let the weight of the blade do most of the work for me. So, while moving the scythe, I also move my body in accordance with the scythe's movements. To enhance movement, I can use the sniper rounds I fire to propel myself across the battlefield using the recoil, and it helps when I use it with my light-body and my semblance. Movement can't be wasted when using a Scythe, so you must optimize on it."
While Sabrina, Francis, David, Arisu, Ethan and Anna were intrigued by Ruby's battle style, the rest of team RWBY were a bit shocked from Ruby's well-thought-out explanation.
Ruby then noticed the looks. "Crescent Rose is my precious weapon. It's only natural that I know how to handle my sweetheart. It's a dance between Weapon and Weapon Master." She said with a proud look.
"That sounds about right. Thanks for the explanation, Ms. Rose. I need to look at past replays to see it for myself." David said.
Sabrina nodded. "Same here. By the way, what are you three doing right now?" she asked.
"Oh, we've just finished a battle-royal duel, and boy was it fun." Francis said.
"Yeah. Although it would've been more fun if someone didn't keep on stealing our monsters!" David said, giving Arisu an annoyed look.
Arisu only replied with a smug look. "Ohohohoho. Ah. That Goyo Guardian and Final Attack Order Combo was so delightful see. Destroying your monsters, steal them, and then switch them attack mode for additional damage. Priceless."
"Yeah. Well, my Chaos Max Dragon wiped the floor with that stinking guardian of yours. I'm sure he was better play than that Kabuki man." Francis said.
"Uh…excuse me? Aren't you forgetting about the part, where my Ultimate Conductor Tyranno crushed all of your monsters?" David rebutted.
"True, true. But then I summoned my Emperor." Arisu said.
"I guess you had advantage there. But then I summoned Alternative." Francis said.
Sabrina only chuckled. "Sounds like the three of you had a fun time."
"I guess we did. So, what are you guys talking about?" David asked.
"The usual. Spirit World attacks-slash-invasions. Do you three know any?" Sabrina asked.
Francis scratched his chin. "Hmm. I do recall that back then, there was this invasion of demon-golem with weird green circles on their heads. They also play a field where the loser's soul gets sucked up and then eaten by a dragon. I think that's what happened."
"I recall this one time where some evil-light spirit tried using a satellite laser to brainwash the entire world. I don't know how that works though. Probably got lost through translation." David said.
"I remember studying in history class that King-Atem fought against the Dark Emperor Zorc, which technically is a Spirit-World crisis. Date all the way back 5000 years ago. And that's just the iceberg of all chaotic Spirit-World incidents." Arisu said.
Team RWBY, and Anna didn't really know what to say that. Yang only coughed. "What do you know. Compared to Remnant, this Spirit World has seen way more action." Yang said.
"Mhm. Still doesn't we shouldn't take this world merger any less serious." Blake said.
"Well, anyways. It was nice catching up to you, but we're all going to have lunch now. We're heading over to Arisu Korean Restaurant. The bentos there are amazing." Francis said.
"Don't expect discount from me." Arisu said.
"Of course not. We'll pay for our own food. See you later, Sabrina." David said.
"Bye, guys. Take care now." Sabrina said, waving back, as the three departed. "They're good people you know. I should take you to Arisu's family restaurant. They serve real good food there. I usual have company meals over there when I'm in the mood."
"Excuse me, Ms. Rhyme. I don't mean to be rude, but Ethan brought us here today to discuss about the situation on Remnant. You can help us with that, right?" Weiss asked.
"Of course. He told me everything. Here's what I know."
Before Sabrina could talk, her phone began to ring. "One second please…Yeah…you're kidding me, right? … No. Ugh. Alright, I'll be there in a moment…Just try to keep it under control for now…" Sabrina said, hanging up.
"Sorry about that. Some business came up, and we need a quick meeting to resolve it. It won't take long, I promise." Sabrina said, as she stood up and bowed apologetically.
"No worries. Just don't forget about us." Ruby said.
"Thank you for understanding." She then turned to Ethan. "Hey, Ethan. Can you do me a favor and give them a tour of the place? It's a lot more fun than just sitting around." Sabrina asked.
"Sure thing, Sabrina. Good luck with your problem." Ethan said.
Sabrina only nodded as she headed towards the elevator and made a call.
"I guess it's time for a tour." Ethan said. He then got up from his chair and gestured the group to follow him.
(Oasis Shop)
The first location that Ethan decided to introduce everyone was the shopping area. Having a vibrant and lively atmosphere, the shop had several Duel-Monster booster packs, trial decks, playmats, multi-colored dice, some old vintage duel disks, and whole bunch of other related dueling items. Right now, everyone was browsing the wares, with Ruby and Anna looking at some cards that were being shown on display, Weiss along with Ethan and Lu, examining the different types of Duel-Disks, and Blake and Yang were walking along the corridors, seeing the different products that were stocked on the selves.
While walking, Blake then saw two girls, noticeably twins sitting at one of the tables. One of the girls had pink hair with blue ends light blue eyes cream skin wear a green striped long sleeve shirt with black pants black slide in shoes and dark blue socks, and the other one has strawberry red hair brown eyes wears a long sleeve blue shirt with a red and black balloon and a pink balloon on it and a black skirt black, along with slide on shoes with light blue socks slightly darker than the other girl and appeared to be slightly older. Right now, the two girls were opening packs from the box, and organizing the cards on the table.
As the Pink Hair girl was opening one her packs, she accidently used too much force as the cards began flying out and landed on the ground. One of the cards landed near Blake's feet, as she instantly picked it up. She then walked over to the girl
"Here. You dropped this." Blake said, handing the card back to the girl.
"Oh, thanks…Hey. Aren't you the Cat-Ninja Spirit of that huntress deck?" she asked.
"Ummm…y-yes." Blake said cautiously.
"Oh, my goodness! Sis! Check it out! It's an actual duel-spirit!" she then turned back to Blake. "Is it okay if I can see the cat ears, please? I haven't actually met an animal-person during my time in the Spirit-World, so this is quite exciting for me, you know…." The girl wasn't aware of it, but she was overwhelming Blake with excitement as she began stepping back, unsure of how to handle the situation. It wasn't until her twin came and pulled her back.
"Sorry, about my sister's behavior. She can get easily excitable. My name is Strawberry Pie Wilson. This is my sister, Anna. And yes, she has the same name as your duelist." Strawberry said.
"Sorry, um…uh…what's your name?" Anna Pie asked.
"It's Blake. And this is my partner Yang." Blake said.
"Hello. So, how did you know Blake was a Faunus?" Yang asked.
"Well, aside from your card saying it was "Beast Warrior", a whole lot about you screams cat. The bow, the Black and white color scheme, and an agile build. You're rocking it." Anna Pie said.
Blake only blinked a couple of times, trying to process what she was hearing. It wasn't until Yang playfully slapped her on the back before she responded. "Oh…thank you. I appreciate it." she said.
Anna Pie merely smiled. "If you don't mind, can I still get that picture with the cat ears, please?"
"I guess that would be okay." Blake said, as she removed the ribbon.
Anna Pie immediately moved next to Blake, making a peace sign with her fingers. Strawberry then took out her phone and snapped a picture. Anna Pie then went over to Strawberry to look at the photo. They were happy with how it turned out but were shocked to see that Yang photo bombed them from behind, with the wildest face she could possibly make, but they didn't mind.
"I guess this is a keeper then. I like your hair by the way." Strawberry said to Yang.
"Aw. Thank you. I do my best to keep it this good looking. So, what are two doing anyway?" Yang asked.
"We're opening some battle-packs. They're Booster-Packs with cards that are compatible with each other. We open up several packs, build a deck and then have a duel." Anna Pie said.
"Well, that sounds fun. What kind of cards did you get?" Yang asked.
"Well, I got a Number 17: Leviathan Dragon. It's a good 2000 base Rank-3. Plus, I can pump it up by 500 by using an overlay unit. Pretty good. I even got Number-39 Utopia" Anna Pie said.
"One card I got is this Blowback Dragon. Only 1 tribute is required, and its coin toss effect is okay. But I think the biggest card I pulled is this Cyber Jar." Strawberry said, showing the card.
"That is one of the strangest looking monsters I've seen. Not to mention creepy." Blake said, looking at the card.
"Yeah. The jar monsters are creepy. They are good though. Cyber Jar is a good one. When flipped, it destroys every monster on the field. After that we reveal the top 5-cards of our decks and summon any level 4 or lower monsters we revealed. The best part is that the rest of the cards go to our hand." Strawberry said.
"How does it destroy monsters by the way?" Blake asked.
"It's eyeball acts like a Black-hole, sucking up all the monsters on the field. Considering that you're both Duel-Spirits, it might be unpleasant to experience firsthand." Anna Pie said.
Yang only shrugged. "Eh. We've been through worse. I'm surprised we're not traumatized at this point."
"It's probably a property of being a duel-spirit. I'm thankful for it though. I mean in the last duel against River, his monsters gave you a thrashing. Not to mention you breathed in poison." Blake said.
"Yeah. But I think you got your fair share of pain. I mean, I still remembered Lancer's brutal execution." Yang said.
"My stomach hurts just from thinking about it. Aside from getting destroyed in duels, it's actually fun to fight monsters." Blake said.
"I agree. Especially with an Armory Arm. I really hope Anna uses that card in the future again." Yang said, fantasizing about punching the biggest monster with Armory Arm.
"Uh…Yes?" Anna Pie replied.
"Oh, no. We're talking about our Anna."
"Oh. Okay. Hey! Sister. Check it out! I got a Jinzo! You're trap cards are denied." Anna Pie said.
"You do realize Jinzo's effect goes both ways, right? By the way, I pulled a Pot of Greed." Strawberry said.
"Neat. What does it do?" Anna Pie asked in a playful manner.
"I'm not telling you. You're going to find out when we duel." Strawberry replied, as the two sisters laughed. They then noticed the confusion on Blake and Yang's face.
"It's a Duel-Monsters joke we like to throw around." Strawberry said.
"Anyways. I think my deck is finished. Ready to get demolished, Strawberry?" Anna Pie said in a cocky tone.
"Oh please. You're 10 years too late to beat me." Strawberry said.
"That doesn't make sense. We're twins."
"I was born 5-minutes earlier. By the way. Do you two want to watch our duel?" Strawberry asked, as the two sisters took out their play-mats, Strawberry's being a Phantom-Knight theme playmat, and Anna Pie's being Performapal-themed, and placed their decks in the deck-zone.
"You're not using holograms?" Yang asked.
"Holograms are neat, but sometimes, it just nice to just sit at a table and just have a nice simple, but fun game. Intense but also relaxing in a way." Strawberry said.
Blake only smiled. "I guess that sounds nice. So, you want to watch, Yang?"
"Eh. Not like we have anything better to do right now." Yang said.
Yang brought up two chairs, one for herself and another for Blake, as they decided to simply enjoy watching a duel between the twins.
Elsewhere, Ruby decided to hang out with Weiss, while Anna and Ethan went to the Dueling Arena to see what was going on there. Right now, the two were in an area with a lot of tables, seeing different duelists sitting at different tables. While walking, Ruby then noticed that one of the tables had a bunch of cards laid-out, with two people sitting at opposite ends of the table.
One of them was a girl, who had light brown hair and two blue eyes. She was wearing blue jeans, and a light green jacket with a black shirt underneath. The second was a boy, who was wearing a red shirt under a blue jacket with blue jeans and black and white converse shoes. He had black hair and blue eyes as well. Ruby couldn't help but marvel at the vast number of cards laid out on the table, that the brown hair girl noticed.
"Um…d-do you need something?" she asked in a shy manner.
Ruby stepped back. "Oh no. I was just curious about all those cards you have laid out on the table."
Weiss then walked up. "To be honest, I'm also kind of curious."
The boy at the table then spoke up. "That's okay. The extra company is always welcomed. We're just deck building and discussing about the cards. My name is Jayden Himura. And this is Amamiya Sakuya."
"H-hello again." Amamiya said.
"Nice to meet you two. I'm Ruby Rose, and this my best friend Weiss."
"A pleasure to meet you." Weiss said.
Jayden's had a confused look on this face, but it immediately lit up. "You're the WhiteRose Duo!" he said.
"White…" Weiss said.
"…Rose?" Ruby finished.
"Yeah. It's a little nickname the community made for you two. The reason why is because you two seem to function well together." Jayden said.
Ruby and Weiss both looked at each other with confused looks, not sure of what to think of it. Weiss then made a proud face. "Well, I am Ruby's best teammate. So, I suppose it's natural."
"That in turn makes me Weiss' best teammate. We're the two of the four aces of Anna's deck afterall." Ruby said, feeling pumped up.
"Calm yourself down, Ruby. So, what kind of deck are you working on?" Weiss asked.
"Oh, Jayden is working on his Utopia deck. I'm helping him out with the card selection." Amamiya said.
"Utopia? Is he a good card?" Ruby asked.
Jayden's face lit up. "Of course, he is." He then held up an XYZ Monster card, which showed a Yellow-white colored warrior. "This is Number 39: Utopia. My ace."
"Utopia is good considering that he can be used in any deck. However, he has support line of cards, meaning he has his own strategies with winning. As for the cards, I suggest we try to lean towards more of the Gagaga monsters. I suggest going with Gagaga Magician, Gagaga Girl, Gagaga Caesar and Gagaga Gardna as a solid choice. Level manipulation is important in a XYZ deck." Amamiya said.
"Yeah. That sounds good. I can also try and incorporate their spells. While were at it, can we consider adding in the Gogogo monsters?" Jayden asked.
"Hmmmm. I…I suppose that sound okay. Gogogo Golem, Gogogo Giant, Gogogo Ghost and Gogogo Goram should work well together. We could also consider adding in the Dododo monsters for extra defense and offense." Amamiya said.
"Great Idea Amamiya. We can try use Dododo Bot, Dododo Witch and Dododo Driver. Now I need to see what kind of combo plays I can pull off with them." Jayden said.
Ruby only had a deadpanned look after hearing the names. "I'm so glad Yang isn't here right now. Her mouth would probably be spouting puns non-stop after hearing those names." She thought.
"Gagaga, Gogogo, Dododo? No offense, but those are weird sounding names." Weiss said, as she sat down next to Amamiya.
Amamiya only chuckled nervously. "A-actually there is crazier sounding name." she then pulled up her backpack and pulled out a binder. After flipping through a couple of pages, she found the card and pulled it out. "Here. Try reading this name." Amamiya said.
Weiss grabbed the card and saw that it showed a Red Lizard man with 2950 attack points and 2800 defense points. It was a normal monster. She thought the stats were impressive. However, when she saw the name, her face contorted to one of confusion.
"Go…gi…ga Gaga…gi…go? What kind of ridiculous name is that!?" Weiss exclaimed.
Ruby then looked over Weiss' shoulder and saw the card "Gogiga Gaga-*chomp*. AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! Mu tung! I bib mu tung!" Ruby yelled in pain.
Weiss only sighed as she drew out her weapon and made a small ice cube and handed it over to Ruby. "Put this in your mouth. It'll help with the pain."
Ruby immediately snatched the ice cube and popped it into her mouth. She began swishing it around in her mouth as the pain began to fade. "Aaaaah. Much better." She said, as she smiled.
"Say, Amamiya. Do think I can squeeze in these cards?" Jayden asked.
The cards that were on the table were four cards that read Queen's Knight, King's Knight, Jack's Knight and Arcana Knight Joker.
"Hmmm. It might be difficult. Considering that they aren't compatible with Onomatopia or Onomatoparia. Also, the deck is going to be heavily focus on XYZ, so you would need a good fusion card. Future Fusion would help out, but the odds of drawing it and having everything else in the deck is…" Amamiya paused not wondering what to say.
Jayden only smiled and stood up. "Don't worry, Amamiya. For you see…a true duelists can call upon the power of their deck and the deck will respond to my feelings. So, I believe my deck will respond to me!"
Amamiya smiled as well. "Of course. The deck of the duelist is also the soul of a duelist."
Ruby and Weiss didn't really know what to say. Normally this would sound weird and dramatic. But they did see it firsthand with their duelist, Anna.
"The people here are unique in their own way. They're just like Anna." Ruby said smiling, but wince as she still felt a little pain.
"True. But that's a good thing." Weiss said.
"By the way, Amamiya. What kind of deck do you play?" Ruby asked. She also gestured Weiss for another ice cube, as the heiress replied without hesitation.
"Oh…um…I'm not sure actually. In truth…I haven't found the right deck for myself yet. I'm still searching for the right cards. But…I'm sure fate will bestow me with the right cards. Oh, speaking of cards. I remember I still have one more booster pack to open." Amamiya said.
Upon tearing upon the pack, Amamiya went through the commons and placed them on the table, until she came across a rare card. Ruby saw it and her eyes lit up.
"Oh my gosh! That card looks so amazing! Can hold it, please!?" Ruby said. Amamiya could only stutter as she didn't know how to respond until Weiss pulled back her friend.
"Ruby. Mind her personal space. She's not close to you like us." Weiss said. Amamiya had a shocked look on her face until Weiss noticed. "I meant it in the term that the rest of team RWBY have a high-tolerance with Ruby-based shenanigans!" she said quickly.
"Sorry." Ruby said, pushing her fingers together.
"It's fine. I can show it to you." Amamiya said.
She then placed the card on the table for everyone to see. The monster was XYZ monster. It was a warrior, with yellow and white colored armor, with sharp armor pieces. It's shoulder pads also resembled swords, and the head piece had multiple spikes protruding from all sides. The background art lighting flash across it. The card was Number S39: Utopia the Lightning. Ruby's eyes were literally sparklingly, as the artwork was cool to look at. Even Weiss couldn't help but admire it. However, the one who was really impressed was Jayden.
"WOW! It's Utopia the Lightning. It's one the cards I need for my deck! Is it okay if I can have it, Amamiya?" Jayden asked.
"Well, it depends on what you have to trade." Amamiya said.
Jayden then pulled up a duffel bag and pulled out his own binders. "Okay. Is there anything in here you like?"
"Hmmm. Is Pot of Desires tradable?"
"Actually, it's the only copy I have."
"Oh, okay. How about this Card of Demise."
"I might consider it. Also, do you have a Future Fusion? I actually don't have one."
"Let me check." while Amamiya and Jayden discussed about which cards to trade, Ruby noticed the other stacks of binders that were set on the table.
"Hey, Jayden. Is okay if we can look at the cards in the binders?" Ruby asked.
"Knock yourself out." Jayden said with a smile. He then went back to discussing trade. "Do, you have any Rank-Up spells?"
"I think I might." Amamiya said, grabbing a binder.
Ruby grabbed a binder and opened it up to see the different cards that were in it. "Wow. There are a lot of cards in this game. Oh, this card looks amazing!" Ruby said, pointing to a card depicting a purple swordsman wielding a gigantic sword. Buster Blader.
"I actually like the one over here. It looks elegant and refined." Weiss said, referring to an XYZ monster. It was female, monster, who wore a blue dress and had purple diamonds adorned along her headdress and tiara. Number 94: Crystal Zero.
The two friends began turning the pages of the binders as they admired the different cards that game had to offer.
(Dueling Arenas)
The Dueling Arenas were different rooms, that had large playing fields for a standing duel with the usual duel disks, but there were old classic playing fields, were players stand on a huge field with an in-built solid vision system. Anna and Ethan were currently walking through the area. Lu and K had decided to go home, since they were feeling a little bit tired, so it was just the two of them.
"Wow. I never expected this place to have old Dueling-Fields." Anna said.
"Sabrina is woman who likes the classics. She said that a heavy machine on your arms may get tiring, so she like to have free arms. Of course, I don't really mind, considering the type of exercises I go through." Ethan said.
"Oh, that's right. You were born in the Spirit-World. If you don't mind me asking, what's it like?" Anna asked.
Ethan looked up and thought about it. "Well, my job as a mercenary involves a lot of traveling. You tend to meet a whole bunch of different spirits. Some friendly, some mean, and some just feral. There are spirits who live normal lives like us. Others want to kill you. It's a big place. Every world has their own special quirks."
"I see. So, what's stopping other worlds from conflicting with each other?" Anna asked.
"Well, you know how there are Demons in one world and Angels in another?" Ethan said.
"Yeah."
"Let's just say that as long as they don't bother each other, they're cool. When you travel between dimensions, you learn a lot about the different worlds and their ways of living. The inhabitants all have their own unique way of living. A city of machines, a palace of sorcery, knights united by a code chivalry, or a spooky graveyard littered with zombies. The Spirit World is home to many. In short, you learn to live with it all. Both good and bad." Ethan said.
"Hmm. I guess Remnant is one of the many worlds. Although, they are completely oblivious to the Spirit World. They may be able to handle one threat, but several different unique threats would be a bit much for them." Anna said.
"Agreed. Remnant has advance technologies and has evolved in their own way, but a sudden attack from different kinds of spirits would probably tear it down. We will stop the merge." Ethan said.
"We'll make sure of it." Anna said in serious tone.
Ethan noticed Anna's uneasiness. Perhaps this wasn't the best time to talk about troubling things. "Hey…look. It's a duel. You…uh…want to watch it?" Ethan asked, forcing himself to smile. It was a very awkward smile though.
Anna felt a bit disturbed to see Ethan smiling. It just felt…wrong. On so many levels. "I guess that would be nice. Let's go." she said.
"Alright. Sounds good." Ethan said. While Anna walked towards one of the rooms, Ethan slapped himself on the cheek a couple of times, before putting on his stern expression. "That felt weird."
Upon entering the arena, Anna and Ethan saw that the dueling field had two people standing on opposite ends. On the blue side of the field was young man, with brown hair styled into a ponytail, and two blue eyes. He wore a black shirt with red markings, blue jeans with orange knee-protectors and brown boots.
On the red side of the field was a girl who looked like the man, with the same brown hair, only styled in a smooth ponytail, and the same blue eyes. She wore red-oval framed glasses, and a red vest, with a purple mini-vest underneath, exposing her stomach. She also wore a red-skirt and blue leggings and brown shoes.
The display on the screen showed their names were Genji Orimura and Yuki Orimura respectively. There were two other people sitting in the room.
One was a female woman who looked a little older than other two duelists, with purple eyes and black hair also in a ponytail. She wore a black business dress with a white shirt underneath that was unbuttoned, revealing a purple bra, a black business skirt, brown tights, and business heels.
The second person was a young female, who appeared to be the youngest amongst the group. She had black hair that was also styled into a ponytail, but a bit messier, with purple eyes as well. She wore a red vest, with a white shirt underneath, a red scarf around her neck and a checkered pattern light and dark red skirt and two black stockings with brown shoes.
The two girls then noticed Anna and Ethan walking in.
Ethan waved his hand and greeted them. "Hello there. Is it okay if we sit here?" he asked.
"Why of course. I'm Makoto Orimura, and this is my sister. Asuka Orimura."
"Hello. Nice to meet you." Asuka said.
"Orimura? I'm going to assume you're related with those two up there." Ethan said, while both he and Anna sat down.
"Why yes. I'm the oldest amongst us." Makoto said.
"And I'm the youngest. Genji and Yuki are in the middle since they're twins." Yuki said.
Looking at the field right now, Yuki had two monsters on her field. One was a purple female puppet, with green hair and purple robes, riding on a creepy looking dragon. That was El Shaddoll Winda. The second monster was a purple mechanical-maiden, with an angelic look, but had a sinister presence, with purple strings coming out from her back. The monster was called El Shaddoll Construct. Yuki also had one card face-down on her side of the field, and no cards in her hand.

On Genji's field, he had no monsters, and only a face-up Shard of Greed on his field and one card in his hand.

Genji Orimura: 2300LP
Right now, Anna was examining the field. "Hmm. Yuki must have used a draining shield earlier to regain that much life-points. Furthermore, she's using Shaddolls. It won't be easy for Genji to win considering he's only allowed one special summon due to Winda's effect. Plus, Construct will just destroy any special summoned monster she battles."
"You're quite perceptive, Anna Yuno." Makoto said.
"How do you know my name?" Anna asked.
"How could we not know? Your name has been the most noticeable in the community. While you're right that Yuki has the advantage, Genji still has some steam left in him." Asuka said.
"Indeed. Let's see how this plays out." Makoto said.
Meanwhile on the field, Genji and Yuki were staring each other down both smiling.
"Alright, Genji. My turn is over. Think you can bring me down?" Yuki said with a confident look.
"Only one way to find out. I draw! Now that my Shard of Greed has two counters, I can send it to the graveyard and draw two more cards." Genji said. He drew his cards and was happy with what he got.
"Since there are four Lightsworn monsters in my graveyard, I can summon this card from my hand! Appear, Judgement Dragon!" Genji shouted.
Judgement Dragon
[LV: 8] [Attribute: Light]
[Dragon/Effect]
[ATK: 3000] [DEF: 2600]
A bright light filled the room, as holographic cards formed in the sky. A ray of light then pierced the clouds as a shadow loomed over everything. A majestic dragon descended from the sky. Its entire body was covered in feathers and had feathery wings, and red talons. It landed on all fours and let out a mighty divine roar.
"Judgement Dragon. That card is insanely strong." Asuka said.
"Yes. And we haven't seen the nuke effect yet. Although I believe, Yuki saw this coming." Makoto said.
"I activate Judgment Dragon's special ability! By paying 1000 life-points I can destroy every other card on the field! End of All Judgement!" Genji shouted.
Genji Orimura: 2300LP – 1000LP = 1300LP
The dragon then flapped its wings as it slowly ascended into the sky. It then opened its mouth and charged a ray of energy and aimed at the ground.
"Nice try brother! However, you triggered my trap card! Solemn Strike! Whenever a monster effect is activated, I can pay 1500 life points to not only negate the activation, but also destroy your dragon!" Yuki yelled.
Solemn Strike
[Trap: Counter]
Yuki Orimura: 7500LP – 1500LP = 6000LP
Solemn Strike showed old-man Solemn, who looked angry, as he casted a divine lightning spell on a poor girl. The card then shot out a bolt of lightning, striking the Judgement Dragon, as it then exploded.
"You had that card on the field since turn 1. Did you actually save it for Judgement Dragon?" Genji asked, sounding surprised.
"Uh huh. I can deal with your other monsters just fine, but that Dragon on the other hand will end up giving me a real bad time if I don't have a plan for it. Besides, we basically know each other decks at this point. It's logical to assume that a Lightsworn user has Judgemnt Dragon in their deck." Yuki said.
"I guess that makes sense. A Shaddoll player is bound to have Construct in their deck. I would be foolish to assume they don't." Genji said smiling.
"I'm glad we're on the same page. Since you've used up your one Special Summon. This game is good as mine." Yuki said smiling.
"I wouldn't say that." Genji said.
"Eh?"
"I play Spell card! Book of Moon! Now I can flip one face-up monster on your field to face-down defense position. I'm choosing your Winda!" Genji said.
Book of Moon
[Spell: Quick-Play]
At that moment, Winda disappeared from the field, as she was replaced with vertical face-down card.
"Now I can special summon all the monsters I want, and I got just the card I want." Genji said.
"You mean…" Yuki said with fear in voice.
"That's right! I have two Judgement Dragons!" Genji yelled, as a second Judgement Dragon appeared.
Yuki could only stare with fear, as the Dragon appeared once more. Genji had a triumphant look on his face. "Let's try this again. 1000 life points equates to board wipe."
Genji Orimura: 1300LP – 1000LP = 300LP
Just like before, the dragon ascended into the sky and prepared the same attack. With nothing to stop it, the dragon let loose a bright stream of energy that struck the center of the field. The radiance of the attack blinded everyone as the two Shaddoll monsters disintegrated within the light.
"The fact that monster has an easy summon condition, field wipe, and it's not once-per turn shows how powerful it is. 1000 life points isn't much when you think about it." Anna said.
Yuki only smiled. "Was not expecting that. But since both Construct and Winda were destroyed, I can add Shaddoll Fusion and Nephe Shaddoll Fusion to my hand. I'll still have enough life points to survive, and I'll use my next turn to end you!"
"You ain't getting another turn, dear sister." Genji said, as he held up another card.
Yuki only stared at the card, until she realized something. "You're joking." She uttered in disbelief.
"You know what's better than summoning two Judgement Dragons in one turn?" Genji said in a cocky tone, while trying to suppress his laughter.
"Don't you dare. You did not draw both cards, off that one Shard of Greed." Yuki yelled.
"Behold. A THIRD JUDGEMENT DRAGON SUMMONING!" Genji yelled, dramatically.
"NO WAY!" Yuki screamed in despair.
And just like that, the third Judgement Dragon had arrived on the field, unleashing a mighty roar.
"Alongside every point you made, Annie, the fact that you can control more than one Judgement Dragon just makes the card absolutely insane. Meanwhile, us extra deck users are jumping through hoops to summon one monster." Ethan said.
"That's Duel Monsters for you." Anna said, shrugging.
"DOUBLE…JUDGEMENT DRAGON… AAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKK!" Genji screamed to the top of his lungs.
The two Judgement Dragon immediately unleashed their breath attacks as they all headed straight to Yuki, who had a shocked expression on her face, showing she was still in disbelief.
"*sigh*. Of course, he had all three of them." Yuki said in a deadpanned tone, as the laser beams struck her face-first. This being an old hologram field, there were no damage levels, meaning there was no destruction. However, Yuki's pride still takes the damage.
Yuki Orimura: 6000LP – 3000LP – 3000LP = 0LP
After the duel, Yuki and Genji met up down below. "Hah! I won! That means you owe me an icecream!" Genji said triumphantly.
"Fine. A win's a win. Just please don't pick anything too expensive. My wallet is a bit light." Yuki said, sounding depressed.
"Can I at least get toppings?" Genji asked.
"Sure thing. But only two max." Yuki said.
"Hey! Can I get one too?" Asuka asked.
"Oh no. I'm only paying for mine and Genji's. You weren't the one who unleashed three Judgement Dragons on me." Yuki said.
"Okay. How about a duel? If I beat you, you pay for my Icecream. If you beat me, I'll pay for both yours and Genji's." Asuka asked.
"No thanks. I'm a bit tuckered out after that last duel." Yuki said.
Makoto came up. "Let your sister rest, Asuka. I'll buy you an Icecream. No duel required."
"Really!? Thanks a bunch, Makoto!" Asuka said, hugging her sister.
Genji then noticed Anna and immediately walked up to her. "Hey, there! Name's Genji. You wouldn't happen to be that Huntress Duelist, Anna?"
Anna only made a nervous smile, as she shook Genji's hand. "The one and only."
"Nice. I just got to say that I'm really impressed with your Dueling. It's elegant but strong! Say, who's your favorite ace out of the members of team RWBY?" Genji asked.
Anna thought about it. She never considered her favorite, but it was natural for duelists to have favorite cards. "Well, I don't have a favorite per say, but I like their qualities. Ruby is super optimistic constantly doing her best to make others happy. Plus, she has leadership skills that shows she is becoming wiser with each passing day. Weiss is a hard worker. She tries to accomplish things with her own power is driven to make sure she can accomplish her goals, and I admire her for that. Blake is a nice girl all around. Her sense of justice is admirable, and I won't lie, I think she's the coolest of the bunch. Finally, Yang. She's a wild firecracker, pushing on through anything. Her spirit is a literal wild-fire, and it keeps on raging. Sometimes I wish I had that much gusto."
"That's nice to hear. Well, I guess having those four around must be fun for you. With friends like those, I say your life is a great one." Genji said.
"Huh…I guess you're right. They do brighten my day, and I feel honored to be a part of the team." Anna said.
Makoto then approached her. "I can sense the bond you have with those girls is what make you yourself strong as well. Cherish that bond and never let go of it. Afterall, it's through bonds that we can all find the strength to push on through."
"Well said. Sister." Yuki said.
"Couldn't have said it better myself." Genji said.
"That's Makoto for you. Full of wisdom." Asuka said
Makoto only chuckled at the responses. "It was nice meeting you, Ms. Yuno. I look forward to having a duel with you in the future." She then turned to her siblings. "Come on everyone. Let's go get some ice-cream. I'm in the mood for Cookie-and-Cream."
"I would like vanilla and chocolate with sprinkles and chocolates chips!" Genji exclaimed.
"I'll buy for you. Although I prefer just chocolate." Yuki said.
"Starwberry for me, Makoto!" Asuka said.
The four siblings continued to walk away, as they seem to have a good time. It made Anna a little happy inside. Just the Ethan's phone then beeped as he saw that he received a text message from Sabrina.
"Sabrina is done with her meeting. We can meet with her on the third floor. Contact your friends." Ethan said.
"I'm on it." Anna said, pulling out her phone.
(Third floor: CEO Office)
After some time had pass, and everyone had gathered at Sabrina's office. Ethan then knocked on the door and waited for a response. The door then opened as Sabrina greeted them and allowed them inside. She however looked rather tired.
"Is something wrong, Sabrina? You don't look like yourself." Ethan asked, sounding concern.
"Oh, it's nothing serious. More of a nuisance. One of our workers had an incident with a Mystic Mine." Sabrina said, sounding exhausted.
"Mystic Mine?" Ruby asked.
"It's a magical mine which has precious material. However, the magical energies are way too potent for most duel-spirits that it makes them collapsed from fatigue. Personally, I would never conduct my business with that stupid mine. Unfortunately, it's resources are quite valuable, so I have no choice but to. I just hope it doesn't become a card. That place is pure evil I tell you. PURE EVIL!" Sabrina said, as she shed a single tear.
"I see. My condolences." Ethan said, patting Sabrina on the back. "So, are you in the mood for helping us now?"
Sabrina then took a huge deep breath and slapped herself on the cheeks a couple of times. "Alright. I'm ready. So, what I've been told is that these creepy Grimm monsters have froze Remnant and are making planning to merge the nastiest parts of the Spirit World to cause as much havoc as possible. Correct?"
"That is right. The problem is that we don't know how to undo it, nor can we travel there." Weiss said.
"Well, I heard that Ethan managed to use some Nether Dust to go there once." Sabrina said.
"Nether Dust?" Blake asked.
"It's dust that has Nether based properties. So, we're calling it Nether Dust now." Sabrina said.
"That is true. However, the entire operation used all the energy up." Ethan said.
"So, that means we need to collect a whole bunch of the stuff to get back. But there is still the problem with unfreezing the world." Blake said.
"Actually, there is a way." Ethan said.
This immediately gotten the attention of everyone in the room. "Back in Remnant, I meet someone who was unfrozen in the world. That person is the reason why the five of you and me are standing here in this very room. Kirin and Joanne are also in Remnant and they did a full scan on the person, and they found traces of…what did you call that specific dust again?" Ethan asked.
"I gave it the term Light Dust, but we can't call it that anymore." Weiss said.
"Why not?" Ruby asked.
"There's already a Dust back on Remnant called Hard-Light Dust. It's rare and extremely expensive. Velvet came to me and asked me if I could get her some or notify her when they are in stock. Since this dust originated in the spirit world, we'll call it spirit dust for now." Weiss said.
"I think that's a way better name." Yang said.
"But wait, who's the person who you met?" Ruby asked.
"I…prefer not to say. It would be best if some info is kept confidential." Ethan said.
"Fine. Fair enough." Ruby said. However she had a hunch of who it was.
Sabrina nodded. "I concur. Apparently, I heard that a Huntsmen aura infused with spirit energy can purify the Nether crystals. The huntsmen at the Huntsmen HQ said they already purified a handful of crystals, but it won't be enough if we are to undo the entire process."
"And I suppose you have a plan to collect these Nether Dust crystals?" Blake asked.
"Indeed, I do, Ms. Belladonna! For I'm going to host a tournament!" Sabrina declared.
"Wha?" RWBY and Anna exclaimed.
"Oh, don't mistake this for any normal tournament. This will be a Spirit tournament, meaning it'll take place in the Spirit World, within a safe place of course. If you want to know why I'm using this method is because there are some folks out there who were attracted by the allure of the Nether Dust's power, corrupting them, and giving them power. So, this tournament may look like a fun event for duelist to come together and have fun…when in fact, it's nothing more than bait for those who have Nether Dust crystals." Sabrina said.
"While that sound okay, how are sure that those kinds of duelists will come?" Yang asked.
"Because I'm going to hooked them with the best prize of their life!" Sabrina then pulled out a poster, which was for the tournament. Everyone read the tournament details and realized one specific detail. One of the rewards was a crate load of rare collector crystals. However, one glance at the photo, and one could see it is Nether Dust.
"When mankind has a thirst for power, they demand more, and more of it to satisfy their unquenchable thirst. They're own lust for power will be their own downfall. Muhahaha." Sabrina said sinisterly. "Also, don't worry about the prize. I won't give the winner the Nether Dust, but instead some prize money. I'll say I got robbed at the very last minute. I may not look like it, but I'm very good liar." Sabrina said.
"I can actually believe that." Blake said.
"What about the other duelists? I wouldn't want them to get hurt under because of our problems." Ruby asked.
"I understand. Most of the Duelist who will partake will come from the Oasis Hangout. I'll make sure to inform them of the true nature of the tournament. As for anyone who decides to participate from the outside…I'll do my best to mitigate the damage as much as possible. You have my word." Sabrina said, with earnest in her eyes.
Ruby only nodded. "Alright. We'll trust you on that. However, if anyone can participate, then that means the Grimm might participate as well. No doubt they'll prioritize anyone with the Nether Dust." Ruby said.
"That means we either get to them first or take out any Grimm we come across before they hurt anyone else." Anna said.
"Correct. We'll need JNPR and Zack's help with this to cover more ground and reduce casualties." Blake said.
"I guess that settles it then. We're going to partake in the tournament and gather as much Nether Dust as possible." Ruby said.
Ethan nodded. "The huntsmen told me they're making special capsules to contain the dust, so the other duelists can handle it with care. Once again, thank you for organizing this Sabrina."
"Anything for a friend. So, any other questions?" Sabrina asked.
"Nothing really important. So, when will you host the tournament?" Anna asked.
"Probably within a week or so. Can I get your contact information so I can keep in touch with you all?" Sabrina asked.
"Sure thing." Anna said, as she sent Sabrina her contact info.
"Alright. We're all set. Now then, I believe we're all done for today. But before you leave, you want you all to have this." Sabrina said. She then laid out five gift cards in front of team RWBY and Anna as the group picked them up.
"These are gift cards for the shop down below. How much is in them?" Weiss asked.
"Five Hundred each." Sabrina said.
"FIVE HUNDRED!" Everyone of RWBY except Weiss yelled.
"Oh. Thank you very much." Weiss said.
"Y-you sure we can have this?" Ruby exclaimed.
"I don't know why you four are freaking out. It's just some spending money from a friend. Besides. This game is quite costly." Sabrina said, silently.
"What was that?" Ruby asked.
"Oh, nothing at all." Sabrina said with an innocent smile.
"Well…thank you. I guess we should head on down to the store and treat ourselves. Right guys?" Yang said.
"I suppose. I don't think Sabrina would let us give these back no matter how much we insist." Blake said.
Everyone then looked at Sabrina, and the look on her face showed that Blake was right. "As much as I enjoy your company, I'm need to ask you fellas to leave. I have an important call coming in soon. Feel free to hang around the place until closing time."
"Alright. Thank you such more for you help. Goodbye." Anna said, as everyone prepared to leave.
"Wait! Before you leave, I have to ask you something." Sabrina said. She got off her seat and went over to the other side the grab something. She then pushed a red-brick wall in front of the door, but not before opening it. "Would anyone care to smash through a plastic brick wall? First come, first serve." she said.
"I'll take you up on that offer!" Yang said quickly, as ran towards the wall and smashed right through it. "Aw yeah! That felt amazing!"
"Do you have another wall?" Ruby asked.
"Sorry. That was my only one. I'll have an extra one for you next time you visit." Sabrina said.
(Several Hours Later)
A long day had passed, with team RWBY doing some shopping with the gift cards they received. They even got a chance to meet the other duelists they interacted with today. At the front entrance, team RWBY was now talking with each other about their experiences.
"Blake and I bought some battle packs. Once we get home, we're going to tear them open and have a little fun match." Yang said.
"Don't complain when I beat you." Blake said, in joking manner.
"Oh, someone seems confident today. Just be prepared for the most brutal duel of your life!" Yang exclaimed.
Ruby smiled at her teammates. "Sounds like you're going to have fun. Me and Weiss bought some booster boxes and structure decks. We're starting our own collection of Duel Monsters."
"What kind of deck did you get Ruby?" Weiss asked.
"I got this neat Dragunity deck. I mainly got it because of the cool dragon on the cover. What about you, Weiss?"
"It's an Ancient Gear deck. It's an interesting deck that focuses on restraining spells and traps. Besides this gear dragon looks really strong and can crush your sword dragon." Weiss said, in a confident tone.
"Oh, we'll see about that. But before that, I want to see what kind of cards we'll get out of these boxes. Shame we can't get duel-disks. We're spirits back on in the real world." Ruby said.
"Eh. It is what it is. Let's just have some fun." Yang said.
While team RWBY continued to talk with each other, Anna and Ethan were talking with each other.
"You know, Ethan. I think we needed this." Anna said.
"Needed what?" Ethan asked.
"Meeting team RWBY has been an eventful experience for me. It's been a crazy adventure of fighting Grimm, meeting people like you and traveling to Spirit-World. However, I think this is the first time where we all just had genuine fun. Sure, you may have brought us here to speak to Sabrina about saving Remnant, but Duel-Monsters is a game first and foremost. It's a game where different people come together to have fun, talk with each other, and to have a good time with each other. Seeing team RWBY just being together and bonding together over this, it makes me happy. We also met so many Duelists who love this game and play it because they love it. Not because they must fight against an unknown evil, but rather they play because it's their passion. This moment right here, of just laughing and having fun, I want to fight for these moments. I want to help team RWBY obtain a future where they can just be themselves and spend the rest of their life together, just living. For us duelists, this game is our life. A life we love." Anna said.
"I couldn't have said it better myself. I love this game as well. And like you, I also fight for these moments of peace. I'll do whatever I can to help you and your friends, and I'll do it for free. You have my word, Anna." Ethan said.
Anna looked at Ethan with a surprised look. "What?" Ethan asked.
"I don't think I ever heard you call me by my actual name." Anna said.
"You've done enough to earn my respect. Therefore, I'll try to call you by your actual name for now on. Any time I call you, Annie, feel free to correct me." Ethan said, crossing his arms.
"That's means a lot to me, Ethan. Thank you again. Now can you take us home please?" Anna asked.
"No problem." Ethan said, as he equipped his D-Tablet, while Anna signaled team RWBY to regroup.
"I wonder how Zack and JNPR are doing. I know they're at River's place, but he's a nice guy. I think. Zack can be crazy at times, but he can understand other people very well." Anna said, worrying a bit.
"Don't worry, Anna. We told Zack all about River, and Zack is not the type of guy to make people angry for no apparent reason. Also, River is a chill person. They should be able to get along." Ruby said, as she walked alongside Anna.
"I'm not worry about Zack and River not being able to get along. I'm worried of how they'll get along with each other." Anna said.
"I won't blame you for that. But I think the worst-case scenario is that the end up in a fist fight." Weiss said.
"Let's hope you're right. I actually hope it is just a fist fight." Anna said.
Team RWBY and Anna continued to talk to each other about their day and the amazing people they met as they all headed home to just enjoy the rest of their day. Anna was worried about Zack, but she pushed those worries aside. She just wanted to enjoy her life with RWBY, before returning to the fight against the Grimm and Revenants.
(Several Hours Earlier)
While Anna and RWBY were exploring the Oasis Card Hangout, there existed a universe of fiends within the Spirit World. A world without order and filled with chaos. In the city of the Underworld, or Under-City as the fiend residents call it, there is a small black looking house. Inside was a very twisted and demonic interior. However, it had elements similar to a normal house, such as a living room. In said living room, was gigantic fiend, which had a red muscular body, with two spike cuffs on its arms, and green eye in its stomach mouth. It also wore green pants, with belts on the lower legs. Its head was also just a human skull. This was Inferno Hammer. One of the inhabitants of the underworld. Right now, he was sitting on his demonic sofa.
Sitting across from him was River Sticks, Jackie, Zack, Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha and Ren, all in separate seats. Right now, most team JNPR were a bit on edge, while Zack had an awkward smile on his face. River on the other hand seem to be treating this very well, while Jackie had a stern look. River then picked up a teacup on the living-room table and took a sip from it.
"Mhm. Pretty good." He then turned to Inferno Hammer who sat in silence. "Alright, buddy. Let's talk."
(To be Continued)
Author's Note:
I would like to take a moment of silence for the recent events of vol 8. …
Alright. I'm good. So, hey guys. Guess. I'M NOT DEAD! Hooray! I would like to give a shout out to all the people who submitted there OCs and sorry for being so late with this. I'll have you know that three OCs that were submitted were not shown in this story. The reason being is that I felt it would've dragged the story on too much. Sorry. I'll make it up to those people in the next chapter. The creators are ScarfacePhantom, D3ADPOOLK1d, W1ll3R, 24th Colossus and Myyddraal. I believe those are the only people whose OCs I didn't get to write in. I promise to make it up to you in the next chapter. In any case, the OCs here to me represent the entire Yugioh community. Just a bunch of players who love playing a card game. I believe you read this story because you love both the RWBY and Yugioh franchise. I love those franchises as well, so thank you for sticking with me this far. It's been five years ever since I wrote this story, and I'm going to keep writing as long as I live.
The following OCs belong to the following people
Francis Charron: Random Guest in the review
David Ritcher: Coachcaptain 101
The Orimura family: Panther J
Amamiya Sakuya: Goldenfire 215
Jayden Himura: BladeBrave04
Reaper Soul: DanielJensen
Wilson sisters: Johnnymike98
Arisu Kou: Phoenix Emperor Sol
Thank you to wonderful people who submitted their OCs, and like I said before, I'll introduce the other OCs in the next chapter.
So, that's it for this chapter. Just a day of peace for our heroes, and the discovery of Amaranth. However, with Zack and JNPR, it's going to be a wild adventure with River and his Grimm in a world of fiends. Let me know what you thought about the chapter in the reviews. Have a nice day, folks.
