Hey babes! Back again with a new chapter for ya! Only four more to go after this! We're really getting into the homestretch!

Enjoy!

"Hey, you know what we still need to do?" Skye speaks up as she and Grant relax in his trailer during their lunch break. They're curled up together on the bench at the end, Max sitting on the floor with his head resting on the edge of the bench.

"What's that?"

"Tell my parents that we're engaged. And your sister."

Grant lets out a breath as he reaches out to rub at Max's head affectionately. "Yeah, we should probably do that. Wanna do it right now while we have the time?"

"Might as well." She shifts in her spot to grab her phone and open it up to her contacts, going into her favorites. "Let's tell my parents first." She taps on her mom's contact info and then initiates a FaceTime call; she really wants to see the look on her mom's face when she tells her. She moves on the bench so that she's sitting more against Grant, laughing quietly when Buddy jumps up into her lap from where he'd been on the floor next to Max.

A few seconds later, her mom's face fills the screen, a smile on the older woman's face. "Skye, sweetheart, so good to hear from you. I feel like it's been forever."

She smiles softly, gently scratching Buddy behind his ears. "I know, mom. I promise I'll try to be better."

"Good. Oh, hello, Grant. I almost didn't see you there."

Grant smiles, leaning over a little so he's able to be seen better. "Hi, Megan. Good to see you again."

"You too, sweetheart. So, what are you two up to right now?"

"We're on lunch right now," Skye tells her, "so figured we'd call and check in with you."

"Any juicy details you can tell me about the upcoming season?"

Skye laughs quietly. "Afraid not, mom. You know they keep everything pretty close to the vest. We don't even know half the time what's going on until right before filming."

Her mom sighs. "Well, it was worth a try."

"A for effort, mom. But...if you're interested, we do have some other news we can share with you. Is dad there?"

"Let me go and get him."

Her mom disappears from the screen and Skye turns her head to look at her fiancé. "Is it weird that I'm kind of nervous to tell her?"

Grant shakes his head. "Not at all. I'm a little nervous too."

"Which is understandable for you. For me, however, I should not be this nervous. I already know they love you."

"Okay, sweetie. I have your dad here."

"Hi, sweetheart."

"Hi, dad," Skye says, turning her attention back to the screen and smiling wide. "I miss you guys."

"We miss you too, Skye. Your mom said you have something to tell us?"

Skye nods. "I do, yeah. Well, actually, Grant and I do." She takes a deep breath and then holds her left hand into view. "We're engaged."

A nearly ear-piercing scream resonates through the phone's speaker, startling all of the occupants, especially Max and Buddy. They quickly calm the dog's back down and then look at the phone to see Megan grinning widely.

"Oh, baby, this is so exciting! I can't believe this day is finally here. I'm so happy for you."

Skye laughs. "Thanks, mom. I'm really excited. We haven't set a date yet, but we wanted to tell you and dad before too much time had passed. We're going to tell Grant's sister and her family next."

"Well, I'm certainly glad that you told us. Aren't you excited, Joseph?" Megan asks, turning her head to look up at her husband.

"Please be happy for me, dad," Skye pleads.

Joseph grows the tiniest hint of a smile on his face. "Of course I'm happy for you, sweetheart. I just want you to be happy. And I guess if we're going to be family soon, Grant, then you should start calling me Joseph."

Grant nods with a small smile. "Of course, Joseph. I'm looking forward to being part of the family." He shifts his attention down to Skye, his smile widening. "I couldn't ask for a better woman to love and to love me in return. She is...more than I ever thought I'd deserve."

"Well, you seem to be pretty in love with my daughter."

"I am," Grant says with a nod, turning back to the screen. He pulls Skye a little closer and gives her shoulder a squeeze. "I'd do anything for your daughter, and I promise to always do right by her and treat her just as she should be treated."

"I'm sure you will," Megan says with a smile. "We should probably let you two go now, so you can tell Grant's family the news before you have to be back to set."

"I love you, mom. I love you, dad. I'll talk to you guys later, okay?"

They exchange quick goodbyes before ending the call and switching over to Grant's phone so they can call his sister. They shift a little on the bench, Skye snuggling Buddy closer to her as they wait for the FaceTime call to go through. Skye buries her face in Buddy's fur and presses a kiss to the dog's head.

"Grant?" Amanda asks, her face appearing on the screen a moment later. "Aren't you working right now?"

"Lunch break," he answers simply. "I have Skye here with me." He tilts the phone enough to show Skye, his own face remaining in the frame.

Amanda grins. "Skye, hey."

"Hey, Amanda. How are you?"

"Good, good. Just waiting for school to start back up." She laughs quietly. "I love summer, but I need my kids to be back in school."

"Well, forget about that for a minute," Grant tells his sister. "Skye and I have some news." He takes a deep breath and beams. "We're getting married."

Amanda beams. "Oh my gosh. Seriously? Wow. This is amazing. Congratulations, you guys. How did you ask her, Grant?"

"I'll tell you later because we have to get back to set soon."

Amanda lets out a huff of air. "Fine. I guess I can wait. Oh, hang on." The screen shakes for a minute as Amanda disappears from their view for just a few seconds and then reappears. She has Katie sitting on her lap dressed in a bright pink bathing suit.

"Uncle Grant! Skye!" the little girl exclaims as soon as she registers that it's them. She leans forward closer to the screen. "Hi!"

"Hey, Katie," Skye says with a smile. "How are you?"

"Good. We're outside swimming."

"They're still waiting for the pool to fill up," Amanda explains. "This one wandered inside and I thought that maybe you'd want to tell her your news."

"Oh, I don't know," Grant says playfully. "I don't think she's ready to hear it. What do you think, Skye?"

Skye plays right along, bringing one hand up to rest on her chin as she pretends to think hard about the notion. "Hmm, I don't know."

"Tell me tell me tell me," Katie chants on the other end of the call, bouncing eagerly up and down in her mom's lap. "I wanna know."

"Well, if you really want to know…" Grant trails off, looking down at Skye.

She smiles up at him and then turns back to the little girl. "Hey, Katie, do you remember what you asked me when I was there for Christmas?"

Katie tilts her head for a moment, thinking, before nodding. "Uh-huh."

"Well, it's happening. I'm going to marry your uncle."

Katie gasps, sitting up taller. "And you're gonna love him forever and ever?"

Skye smiles sweetly up at Grant. "I absolutely am."

"So does that mean you're gonna be my aunt?" Katie asks, drawing Grant and Skye's attention back to the young girl.

"It does," Skye says with a nod. "I'm guessing you're okay with that?"

Katie nods with a wide grin. "Yeah. I'm so excited. When are you gonna get married?"

"We don't know yet," Skye tells the young girl. "But we're thinking sometime in the Spring. That way it won't be too cold and everyone will be able to be outside."

"I think...that sounds nice. I like it."

"Well, we're glad you approve," Grant says with a small laugh. "And we would love to stay and talk more, but we have to get back to work now so we can keep making our show."

"Okay, I love you Uncle Grant! I love you Auntie Skye!" Katie blows them both a big kiss before leaping out of the screen.

Amanda laughs at her daughter's antics before looking back at Grant and Skye. "I'm so happy for you guys," she tells them with a small smile. "I'll let you go so you can get to work, but Grant, I better get a call from you soon so you can tell me the whole proposal story."

Grant smiles and nods. "I promise."

The three of them exchange goodbyes and then the call ends, leaving Grant and Skye in silence with just the quiet breathing from their dogs filling the space.

"Well, I'd say that went very well," Grant says, letting out a breath.

"Very well," Skye echoes, glancing over at the clock sitting on the counter. She lets out a heavy breath. "But your sister's right, we should probably get back to set."

"Yes, we probably should."
