I do not own anything. If you recognize it, it is not mine.
Comment: I probably should have been clearer in my previous comment. I don't have anything against the premise of Emancipation episode, if anything they statistically probably would have encountered more societies like this. But I find it irresponsible to leave one member of your team without any back-up, a member you know is considered inferior on that planet, and go to a party. It makes the guys look bad, like they don't care about Carter. Don't stare at how she looks in that dress and get her out of there, please. She said they should go back after they met the first chieftain and he wanted to kill her for speaking.
I also would like to see some punishment for the guy who sold Carter, I don't care he was in love. And the end is just wishful thinking, change is never that fast and complete. I understand what they were trying to do, but with a few changes this story could have been much better. It's a wasted opportunity. It felt unnatural, really forced and is actually disliked by the actors as well. Plus the description of the episode that was used was unfortunate – mistreatment of women? How about a stronger word than mistreatment maybe?
The fight at the end was a little satisfying, but if they held women in such low regard, Carter might as well have killed Turghan, because he wouldn't be able to carry on after he's been defeated in combat by a woman.
(Also for people who don't know, originally there was an idea Carter was supposed to get sexually assaulted, but they had to change it because of the rating of the show – it could have explain what that story feels so weirdly put together.)

Laura stayed in the infirmary, sitting next to Gracie who was going to wake up in the near future. O'Neill knew that wasn't the only reason she didn't leave, she wanted to keep an eye on Carter, but it was fine with him. He was grateful Carter had someone who looked after her.
"Before we start, do you need anything?"
"I need to know where you'll be sitting, so I don't get startled too much."
O'Neill reached under the hospital bed for a chair and sat down close to her. Lightly he cover her hand with his, asking if it was okay. Then he told her to start with what she remembered.
"We encountered the first inhabitants not long after we gated to the planet. They had really backward attitude towards women, so in order not to offend them Daniel proposed that I change into this ludicrous dress with big headpiece. You came to see me before you left for the party."
O'Neill listen very carefully, hearing the distaste in her voice. He couldn't blame her, he himself felt exactly the same and wished it had gone different on that planet. Of course he read her report, but it felt different to hear her describe it, to hear the raw emotions in her voice, it made it more real somehow. He was very anxious, with the guilt weighing down on him, as he imagined the knife pressed to her jugular vein and her journey into the other tribe's settlement. He bet she had great deal of time to think on the horse's back.
He was ashamed to admit how much he stared at his 2IC when she put on that blue dress. Not only was he her superior officer, but in the context of that society it was much worse. He wasn't blind, he knew Carter was beautiful - even in her BDUs after twenty four hour shift, so what was he expecting in a gown. It left a bitter taste in his mouth that he openly gawked at the dress she was sold in or maybe it was how he almost lost Carter right after losing Kawalsky. That did not happen to good officers, did it? He sighed. He thought he was done with his doubts-and-guilt trip, but evidently not.
They all went through therapy afterwards. Teal'c was thoroughly confused by the concept and basically only repeated his mission report. Daniel apparently made better use of it, but no one knew about Carter's session. Well, it was not like anyone knew about his either.
"Has anything else happened to me on that planet?" All of a sudden Carter asked, and there was an awkward pause.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't remember everything. Sometimes there are just few scenes, feelings…" She said it quietly, like she was afraid to admit to having feelings. He wondered what exactly she remembered.
Then another topic crossed his mind and he couldn't shake it.
"Do you remember what happened afterwards?"
"After we got to Earth? What exactly should I remember?"
Damn it! He hoped she remembered their conversation after that mission. It was not something he wanted to repeat.
"Hammond chewed me up pretty good for being so careless and almost getting you killed – our leading expert on the gate. He wanted to know if maybe I'd been on too many Black Ops to be an effective SG team leader. They were also some other issues, but you get the idea. I had like ten sessions with the base psychologist and had to pass my psych eval again."
"I thought we were on downtime because of my injuries." There it was again, the profound frown on her face. She at least hoped to remember most of the first years.
"That too. You really downplayed your injuries, Colonel. That must have been some beating you took, I can't believe you didn't mention it and then fought that bastard." For some reason, he became hyperaware of the softness of her hand against his. She was shaking. "I should have just killed that guy."
"He died shortly after that anyway." They both jumped at the sound of Laura's voice.
O'Neill's hand grabbed Carter's even harder, trying to make sure she was alright. Only then he turned to Laura.
"How do you know?" O'Neill asked with a flavor of annoyance in his voice.
"It's written in a report about subsequent mission to that planet. But the reason I interrupted was because Sam should drink something." Laura moved towards them with a cup in her hand.
"Let me help." O'Neill stretched his arm to take hold of the cup and lifted it to Carter's lips. "Okay, Carter, you know how much you love herbal tea, well, here's some."
She took two big gulps before he had to dip the cup even more and after a few more small sips it was empty. O'Neill asked if she wanted another cup, but she refused, barely able to mask her exhaustion.
Okay, yes, I am really mean, this won't be resolved now. Sam needs her rest to remember more and Jack needs some time to get it together too.
