Chapter 22. Disownment.

HICCUP: (CONT'D) Toothless! STOP!

[He pins Stoick and inhales. The familiar hiss of gas builds. Everyone braces...]

HICCUP: NO!

[Toothless swallows back the blast and turns to Hiccup, not understanding.]

You know this feels like foreshadowing." Said Eugene and for some weird reason others agreed.

VIKING: Get him!

[The crowd rushes him, piling on, and taking Toothless down. Astrid holds Hiccup back.]

HICCUP: (DESPERATE) No! Please...just don't hurt him. Please don't hurt him.

Almost everyone had tears in their eyes.

[Stoick gets to his feet, fuming, shaken. A Viking presents Stoick with an axe. He eyes Toothless for a moment, then pushes the axe back into the Viking's hands.]

STOICK: Put it with the others!

[His burning glare turns to Hiccup.]

Oh no." Said Aunt Cass.

Hiccup gulped and leaned closer to Toothless who growled protectively.

Astrid frowned and turned to glare at the Chief. Stoick saw this and sighed, his shoulders falling. This wasn't going to end well.

INT. GREAT HALL

[Being shoved into the dank, dimmed hall. SLAM! The massive doors rattle and echo. Stoick pushes past him.]

Oh dear." Elsa said knowing something bad was about to happen.

[He paces against a backdrop of shadowy tapestries and carved pillars - a legacy of heroes, all peering down in angered judgement.]

STOICK: I should have known. I should have seen the signs.

Yes but you never pay attention, you don't care." Hiccup mutters as Toothless glares at the boy's father, who squirms.

Uh, what signs?" Tuffnut asked, hesitant.

No reply.

HICCUP: Dad.

STOICK: We had a deal!

I never made that deal. It was all him." he said, and Val hugged him tightly.

For the Record it's a very one-sided deal! " yelled Kristoff.

[Stoick pauses to say something but stops short. He SNORTS and resumes pacing, repeating the cycle.]

HICCUP: (FLUSTERED) I know we did... but that was before... ughh, it's all so messed up.

Merida snorts." Ye can say tha' again." She said.

Wow I almost forgot you were here." Jack says.

Ya wel' apparently a princess does not interrupt er 'hout 'ut." She replied while rolling her eyes.

STOICK: So everything in the ring. A trick? A lie?

I wouldn't say a trick. I call it using your resources. " I said and The teens nodded, minus the twins who were butting heads again.

[He stomps toward Hiccup. Stops short and points, fighting back words.]

Well I don't mean to have such little faith in you but Hiccup it was great knowing you even if it was only for like an hour." Eugene says.

HICCUP: I screwed up. I should have told you before now. Take this out on me, be mad at me, but please... just don't hurt Toothless.

He is selfless, he is courageous, he is intelligent, Manny must have something very important, very special planned out for him." North observed while the other guardians nodded their heads in agreement.

As for Astrid she smiled. Even when his father was boiling mad at him, the only thing Hiccup cared about was Toothless. Typical.

[Stoick turns around, fire in his eyes.]

STOICK: The dragon? That's what you're worried about? Not the people you almost killed?!

Stoick shook his head. It was his fault that the dragon attacked. Not Hiccup's.

Technically speaking he didn't try to kill anybody. In fact you could say he was trying to prevent as many deaths as possible." Jack said.

Why did he attack me then?" he accused. Hiccup rolled his eyes and replied.

If you remember what gobber had said earlier from what it looks like you were trying to hurt me." Stoick stopped at Remembering the facts that Gobber was right at pointing out earlier that Toothless sees Hiccup as a hatchling and He admitted that he was charging at Hiccup's general direction so there's no arguing there.

HICCUP: He was just protecting me! He's not dangerous.

STOICK: They've killed HUNDREDS OF US!

Oh no. I'm about to open my mouth and get everyone killed." hiccup said mostly to himself.

HICCUP: And we've killed THOUSANDS OF THEM! They defend themselves, that's all! They raid us because they have to! If they don't bring enough food back, they'll be eaten themselves.

Uh, should you be saying that? " started Hiro.

HICCUP: (BEAT) There's something else on their island dad...it's a dragon like-

Hiccup let out a sad chuckle.

Hiccup the Big Mouth." He said and Astrid Nod.

[Stoick HUFFS.]

STOICK: Their island?

[He stomps back... pointing an accusing finger.]

STOICK: (CONT'D) So you've been to the nest.

Nope. Nope nope nope nope nope, stupid, stupid, stupid." said Hiccup.

HICCUP: Did I say nest?

STOICK: How did you find it?

HICCUP: I didn't, Toothless did. Only a dragon can find the island.

[Stoick straightens up, an idea forming in his mind. Noticing it, Hiccup shakes his head, knowing that his father will face certain death if he carries it through. Stoick walks away.]

Hiccup's face blanched. No, his father had no idea what he was getting into.

You know for the record If I were you I would just let them get killed by that Titan. " This got me weird looks. " WHAT?! Just Say a fact here! " Pout crossing my arms.

HICCUP: (CONT'D) Oh no. No, Dad. No.

[Hiccup chases after him, panicking.]

By now everyone is watching avidly not daring to interrupt or break eye contact with the screen.

HICCUP: (CONT'D) Dad. It's not what you think. You don't know what you're up against. It's like nothing you've ever seen.

[He grabs Stoick by the arm, tugging with all his might. He has no effect whatsoever.]

HICCUP: (CONT'D) Dad. Please. I promise you that you can't win this one.

[Nothing.]

HICCUP: No. Dad. No. For once in your life, WOULD YOU PLEASE JUST LISTEN TO ME?!

[He throws Hiccup off of him, SWATTING him to the floor. Icy stillness. Hiccup stares back, stunned.]

Everyone in the room is shocked.

STOICK: You've thrown your lot in with them. You're not a Viking.

(BEAT)

STOICK: You're not my son.

Gasps all around well Gasps and growls filled the room as everyone but Vikings turned to glare at Stoick. All but Mildew, but nobody cares about him.

And I thought I had parent problems." Merida said.

Oh poor hiccup." Anna and Rapunzel coo.

That's harsh." Eugene says.

Meanwhile the Vikings were having individual conversations about what this meant for the village.

Stoick, Hiccup, Valka and several others were still staring at the screen in shock but both Valka and Aunt Cass where Pissed.

WHAT?! " screamed Aunt Cass. Causing me to pause the movie, sensing a lecture.

HOW COULD YOU, YOU DESPICABLE EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING? " she yelled.

Valka stomped over in front of Stoick in a crouch. Things were about to get interesting. Valka whirled her staff, hitting Stoick in the head with it. I jumped between them.

Break it up, break it up! Stoick and Cass, sit! " They obeyed. " And you, come with me. " I said.

I led Val to within The Dragons Near Hiccstrid and told her to stay there.

Alright Stay there until the second movie. You will probably know when to come. " then I whirled and left. Valka snorted, but stayed there, watching, as Came back to My seat and played the movie again.

[Stoick pushes through the door, leaving Hiccup alone, devastated.]

STOICK: (CONT'D) (CALLING OUT) Ready the ships!

EXT. GREAT HALL - CONTINUOUS

[Stoick staggers on the steps, breaking inside.]

Well at least he feels guilty. " Jack says. Everyone stares at him, " What? We were all thinking about it! " He complained.

Indeed The Ice Spirit is right though At least you feel guilty. " Muttered Tadashi sourly.
