Bloody Roar: Loud Ch. 27 (Lucy the [Fruit] Bat)
This is Season 2 of the series. This season may focus on other Zoanthropes and characters besides Lincoln. Not only that but they are more of a filler arc (chapters that may hold little but not zero relevance on the story).
Disclaimer: Bloody Roar is owned by Hudson Soft, TLH/TC are owned by Nickelodeon Studios. This chapter is rated T and may possibly become rated M if gore, bloodshed and violence are put to extreme. Also, possible Harem/Polygamous relationship implied. That said, I don't want anyone making OTP ship wars since all ships are treated equally. Also, as per rules of AU (Alternative Universes), some events may or may not take place as such, some characters may or may not appear also (just like the Arrowverse, Marvelverse, DCU, etc… you get the point.)

Lincoln is away for a while, knowing that there are other Zoanthropes out there that needs help in adjusting in their predicament. Bobby is still getting used to being a Taurus/Bull (Minotaur) Zoanthrope and Lori found out that Bobby suddenly had a change in diet. Although still eating some meat for protein, Bobby shifts from time-to-time, only partaking a lacto-vegetarian meal. Meaning Bobby is feasting a vegan's diet (pure plant/fungus based only) but permitted to intake breastmilk of animals such as cow's or goat's milk. Leni's boyfriend, Chaz being a Boar Zoanthrope, became as gluttonous as ever. Clyde is taking a hard time on help the poor guy adjust in his hunger. The Sadie Hawkins girls may not be partaking in any of WOC's problems, they still helped in some of their task in keeping the peace of human-Zoanthrope relations.
Speaking of WOC, one member just decided to join the American Branch since the country is just new to the problem and situation. I'll give a hint, she is a Gothic Supermodel with youthful beauty to behold despite her enigmatic age. She also works as an agent of espionage to keep tabs on world leaders in case one of them plots to put any place in disarray and discord. Well-trained in seduction and assassination, truly a sight to lay eyes on.
And she's also the fiancee of Alan Gado the Lion Zoanthrope, the current leader of the mercenaries of WOC. She is none other than, Jennifer "Jenny" Burtory-Gado. Alias, Vampiress for she is a [Vampire] Bat Zoanthrope. Although she is quite the nocturnal one, she loves the spotlight and letting others see her glamour and charm. Lola even kept some of her magazines that had her along. And the fact that she's a Gothic fan makes the Mortician's Club worship her like a goddess. A Goth that isn't afraid of the world of lights yet truly stands out for her bewitching looks.
Lola and Leni might get jealous over the fact that a supermodel is actually going to Royal Woods, Michigan; and Lucy is invited to her household.
Morpheus: I can't believe that Ms. Jenny Burtory is actually visiting Royal Woods. Our goddess has descended to our presence.
Persephone: I know right! This is some kind of fate conspiring on our favor.
Haiku: The first fashionista that loved and adored our style and yet walks both light and dark. Truly someone we could really appreciate.
Lucy: I'd hate to break it to you guys but she's gonna be future Mrs. Gado.
Silas: What do you mean Lucille?
Lucy: My brother works at WOC, remember? Which means he knows the details of what transpires in their organization.
Haiku: They are an organization of soldiers of fortune that aims to maintain peace between the humans and the beastkins like Lucy and I.
Lucy: The term is Zoanthropes. Which means we have the essences of a particular beast. Lincoln is a lycanthrope, for he has the burning heart of a wolf. Protective of us yet passionate leader.
Haiku: And I've been blessed to be the night bird. The Crow.
Morpheus: I remember. The wolf hero of Royal Woods. That was your brother, isn't it?
Lucy: That is correct. Anyways, as I was saying. The leader known as Alan Leonhart Gado is the Lion Zoanthrope and the fearless mercenary of WOC and the groom-to-be of Jenny Burtory. Making her also the future stepmother of Shina Marvel/Jeanne Gado.
Boris: Well informed, Lucy. I see there are some perks on being the sister of the wolf hero.
Dante: Wait a minute, would that mean…?
Lucy: Yes, I am currently going to meet them as per Lincoln's suggestion. I've yet to discover what my full potential as a Zoanthrope could be and I haven't learned to activated it on my will rather than being sedated with potions of malice.
Haiku: And I shall go too. Unfortunately, we're the only ones privileged to appear due to our lineage as beastkins and our connection with the Wolf brother. It was to ensure we would never be influenced by that maddened scientist that caused havoc in our peaceful town.
Persephone: Lucky. What I wouldn't give to actually watch you girls.
Soon, Rocky then joined them.
Rocky: Hey Lucy, ready to go?
Silas: Wait, he's coming too?
Lucy: Yes, he is one too. I… em… We must be going now.
Boris: Well then. Stay safe then Lucille and Haiku.
Haiku: Thank you.
Rocky, Lucy and Haiku took their leave. Some sounds of rackets and mishaps are happening at the school premises for now due to uncontrolled Zoanthrope situations. It was actually Lynn Jr trying to calm the Stallion Zoanthrope and friend (former love interest), Francisco. It took the combined effort of Polly Pain, Lynn Jr and Margo while in their Zoanthrope form. Lucy is still panting and breathing heavily as Rocky made an advanced leave, leaving behind the two goth best friends.
Haiku: Torn between two lovers, Lucille?
Lucy: How did you…?
Haiku: I can see it in your face. And I know one when I myself is part of your brothers little polygamous escapade.
Lincoln: Wait, Lincoln's dating multiple girls and you're part of it?
Haiku: Correct. And we consented it. He's still out there somewhere, protecting the innocent. I meant we, I mean that Santiago girl, and the rest of us from Sadie Hawkins Dance; Tabitha, Polina, and the clown Giggles.
Lucy: But why though?
Haiku: I still have feelings for Edwin. For older men and vampiric legacy but I had these feelings for the werewolf too. It took meeting your brother in her Lycan form for me to realize that I too am torn between two lovers. So I took the chance to form a pack with the Wolf hero.
[BTW, since the Dance, Dance Resolution in this AU is different. I must point out that Haiku didn't meet Clyde. That means that Clyde could be shipped with Chloe or Penelope in this AU and so far, Chloe and Clyde the on-going ship.]
Lucy: I see. I was like this too when I had to pick between a werewolf and a vampire when I asked Lynn. My sisters heard it too since the walls are too thin. Now, I am conflicted between Silas and Rocky.
Haiku: Then remind yourself, why did you felt this feelings between them. What is it that charms you so?
Lucy: Rocky is the first normie that actually likes my interest. Well, besides Lincoln since he's my brother so it's natural. But Rocky always thought I was cool and I thought the same to him too. On the other hand, Silas and I are like kindred spirits. We goths have to stick together afterall. If only Silas was interested in another woman, then maybe my choice could have been clear.
Haiku: I see. Like Light and Dark of equal power, clashing between with you at the middle. Until their truest nature is revealed, the choice will be proven a challenge. Just like how I experienced it.
Lucy: That's enough of this. We should keep going.
A few minutes later and Lucy and Haiku are escorted by Rusty, Rocky and Lincoln. They also found a military jeep ready and waiting for them to ride towards WOC Headquarters. The ride is quick and they arrived in no time. There they saw Dr. Shaun Tucker, leaving the premises after finalizing a report. Lincoln joined the scientist in order to have knowledge on what diagnosis he attained on a girl named Sid Chang. Meanwhile, a woman is waiting at the lobby. The woman that the goths admired for her dark beauty, Jennifer Burtory.
Jenny: So these are the girls that I have to train. The little wolf boy's sister and his Gothic poet friend.
Haiku: Nice to meet you, miss Burtory. My name is Haiku.
Lucy: Lucille Harriet Loud. Please… call me Lucy.
Jenny: And well mannered too. Not to mention, aligned interest on clothing and literature. The pleasure is all mine. It's like having young goth daughters. I like you both already. And your brother… the Wolf Hero, is like a son to me ever since Gado introduced him. Now then, shall we begin?
They then began training, which will take long time. Rusty and Rocky are in a different room and used the omnidirectional treadmill to built their speed with and without using their Zoanthrope powers as Hedgehogs. Haiku trained her flight speeds and feather blades with Wind Manipulation thanks to her Crow physiology. She also trained to whether use incomplete/harpy or complete/gryphon mode. Jenny watched them as they progress as she read reports of Tyron activities that intrigued her, from different parts of the globe. Tyron seemed to be in trouble again due to using live human specimen for Zoanthrope-based experiments that had been causing people vanishing or dying from nowhere. She trust Gado would do the job well since most of Tyron was influenced by the mad scientist/Chameleon Zoanthrope. Dr. Shaun Tucker called them and gave reports on the activities from the outside. Some Tyron scientists on the run and became rogue drug cartels, while some of the Anti-Zoanthrope Front are acting up and causing chaos to both Humans and Zoathrope related places. These misguided zealots needs to stop their racism and xenophobic acts before it could go out of hand.
While enjoying a cup of red wine and tomato juice, Jenny noticed that Lucy is beginning to conjure up her Zoanthrope energy within her. Not only that but her energy is oddly similar to hers. Could it be that she is also a Bat Zoanthrope like her? Jenny watched as Lucy is relaxed and meditating, focusing on her inner self. The energy is building up strongly like some guardian spirit is helping her. Soon the twilight hits and their training is over. The last few hours are spent on chatting about their goth interests and how Jenny started out as a goth herself before the whole fashionista gig. It was interesting that she is a big fan of dark fantasies and vampire romance. She also talked about how she also became a spy that works directly on WOC's supervision. What's more intriguing for the two goth girls is that Jennifer never seemed to age, as if she attained eternal youth. This begs the question on whether she is a Zoanthrope or a literal vampiress herself. Her answer is a bit vague for the goths, telling them that she is a Bat Zoanthrope but part of the abilities of a Zoanthrope is healing factor and slow aging, just like Lincoln could also slow to age and retain some youthful physique.
One last thing they did is that they went out in the middle of the night (an hour after sunset) and looked for some place to eat and/or look for goth-related things. The mall perhaps is still open on the night and the fast-food chain within is available for them. The only place they could also purchase their interest is the bookstore and department store of women's clothing. They had variety of colorful and monochromic dresses. Seemed that the night will be peaceful for them, or that what is should be when…
CRASH! BANG! BLAST!
Some crashes of glasses and rocks falling are apparent. Rioters armed and protected with vests are charging at the mall and the security are assaulted. Sure, the security and polices had pistols and shotguns, they fired shots to protect the costumers and employees. Some of their shots hits and incapacitates the rioters, but some are sneaked upon and pushed down and knocked unconscious from the turmoil. Trouble seemed to be always follows. But all of the rioters had one thing in common… their hatred towards Zoanthrope and their supporters. Some people are forced to use partial abilities of their powers but if push went to shove, it won't be just a riot….
It'll be a massacre. Both to the humans and Zoanthropes.
Jenny: *sigh* Trouble seemed to always follow, wherever I go.
Lucy: Can we help them?
Jenny: Are you both sure? You two are still newbies afterall.
Haiku: Don't count us out. I've help Lincoln from time to time. Lucille might be of help too.
Lucy: What do we do?
Jenny: We use stealth tactics. Clearly from the conflict, some of the lights got destroyed. We can use that to our advantage since Zoanthropes had slight night vision. Not only that but me being a Bat Zoanthrope enables echolocation or sonar sense. You too Lucy. I can sense that you're a Bat Zoanthrope as well.
Lucy: Wicked!
Jenny: We only render them unconscious and incapable to fight back. Do not use lethal means, understood?
Haiku & Lucy: Yes!
The trio then went to fulfil their task. Haiku transforms into a crow and used the environment to camouflage and used gusts of winds as distraction. Then she launched feather blades to pin on their vests, with the impact carrying them over walls or poles and render them knocked out. She took flight and used her talons to carry each of the Anti-Zoanthrope rioters to the air and let them fall. The fall isn't high enough to kill them but enough to break some bones or knock their heads, causing them to lose consciousness. Lucy, for the first time activated her Beast Mode. The dark covers what seemed to be a bat-like figure of a humanoid. Within the shadows is a girl with pale complexion covered with dark marks of fur similar to a tribal tattoo. Her ears became bat-like but the face is saved from transformation (although unnoticed due to her hair covering her eyes). Her arms and hands became bat wings, her teeth grew fangs, and her legs became talons. She then took flight and gave a terrible shriek that made the ears of the rioters sore. Lucy then rushed in different directions and attacked from various places, making her seemed untargetable by the rioters' weapons. She then attacked with a flying kick from all over the place, knocking most of them down while some remained fighting. Haiku then assisted with her gust and gale of feather blades which disabled their vests and weapons while knocking some of them down. Lucy, down to her last foe, took flight and used her feet to carry the last rioter to the air. Tossing the rioter airborne, Lucy the performs a succession of rapid kicks before using her legs to once again toss the rioter, this time to the ground. Lucy then gathers her energy to her legs, deactivating her transformation and performs the finale of her Beast Drive, by stomping to the ground where the rioter lay. It crushed the spine of the rioter, but not enough to kill. When the emergency flood lights began to lit, the two goth girls high fives after they revert back to humans. The police sirens are heard as they fast approach the place of turmoil. Unbeknownst to them, one rioter escaped and took Lucy as hostage, holding a switch knife.
Rioter: You filthy abominations. I will cleanse this world from your filth! GO TO HELL!
Before the rioter could deal the blow, bat-like hands took the rioter by surprise and made Lucy escape. The bat-wings then embraced the rioter while he screams in agony as his body began to age rapidly until the physique looked like in 60's or 70's. The Bat Zoanthrope figure appeared and reverted to human, revealing Jenny Burtory.
Jenny: Stole my trick, Lucy. But this one is mine.
Lucy: What was that?
Jenny: The unique ability or Beast Drive that only I can do. Each Zoanthrope had something unique from them, this one is mine. It's called Bat Leeching or Vampiric Leech. As a Vampire Bat Zoanthrope, I can drink blood from animals and plant alike thus giving me energy and sustenance. But as time goes by, this ability evolved to a point that all I need is to conjure my Zoanthrope energy into a vampiric state, enabling me to leech on the essence of another person via touch or embrace. Against a Zoanthrope, I can leech their energy and drain them to exhaustion. They will regain it eventually. But against a regular human, this will cause them to lose their life essence, exhausting and aging them rapidly in the process. Nothing can change that now. I can fully control the ability so that he won't die but he will only have a few years left to live.
Haiku & Lucy: Wicked.
Jenny: This is the power of a Vampire Bat. And since both of you are still young, you will have your unique powers… eventually.
Lucy: Is this what's keeping you young?
Jenny: Yes. As a spy and assassin, I kept my victims in my clutches and make sure they couldn't escape. Most of my targets are greedy scums and corrupt politicians/leaders anyways so the world is better off without those trash.
The police and doctors soon arrived and detained the rioters. The chief then questioned the trio and made sure they get their side and testament of the occurrence, which proved them innocent.
Chief Police: Man, this is like the eleventh time of this case. I can't believe these racist idiots would go too far. I mean, my families and relatives are born and raised as devotees and religious but they never find any resentment against the Zoanthropes. These idiots are using politics and their fanaticism to commit these horrid acts of violence!
Jenny: Well it is a good thing we are here to prevent any casualties.
Chief Police: I'll say. Thanks for the assist. Say, I might reward you for this thing. Wanna go for a date?
Jenny: Thanks but no. I'm engaged with someone else. You might know him as Alan Gado.
Chief Police: The Lionhearted!? You're marrying him!? Oh… well this is awkward. Don't tell him I flirted with you, okay? I admired that brave man enough to not ever make hostility with him.
Jenny: My mouth is shut. Keep those racist fools from disturbing the peace of Humans-Zoanthrope relations.
Cheif Police: You have my word, ma'am! Thanks again for this assist.
So the night is saved by the goth trio (with Jenny as their leader) and the two young girls are escorted safely back home. Lucy suddenly had a craving for Blood Oranges or Fake Blood smoothie (made from various red fruits/vegetables)
Meanwhile, Lincoln, along with Ronnie and Shaun Tucker, had discovered that Sid had indeed evolved into a Zoanthrope. The Latina's best friend is getting well and to be released but the findings on her DNA is strange. The Zoanthrope DNA contains another substance. Some kind of virulent RNA, a virus. This virus is not deadly and actually improved Zoanthrope activity… but like the Forced-Activation Serum that caused the chaos, this RNA is leeching on the user's sanity and can only be contained if the host is able to control the transformation… by creating a deactivating antibody to counteract the virus.
The Virus of the Unborn Zoanthrope.

AN: okay, it took another month worth of hiatus for me to regain the motivation to write this fanfic again. Therapy sessions and job hunting are really shifting schedule… no thanks to this pandemic crisis. I really hate this freaking delays I caused to myself. I know that I shouldn't treat a hobby like a chore but this hobby of mine is a piece of solace I can have to deal with my anxiety and depression. I feel inadequate enough as it is and scouring for more self-help ideas kinda worsen the problem (while sometimes it cures the problem).
Anyways, I also want to announce that the Beast Drives for the characters are going to be posted in DeviantArt instead (along with the fanart). Why? It might be inconvenient but I sometimes forget to post it here too so I'll stick with DeviantArt instead (DA acct.: Pirohiko-Baltazar).
