It was a week before she was discharged from hospital. They'd run so many tests on her that she felt like a lab rat and was more than a little frustrated. Comparing MRIs and EKGs from when she'd just lapsed into her coma, and now. But she knew why they were doing it.
On a rainy Monday morning Edgar came to pick her up. She'd dressed in some of her old clothes after being unconscious, she had lost a lot of body mass. Her bones were sharp against her skin and she didn't like that. The irony wasn't lost on her either. Now she was thinner than she'd ever been in her adult life and she hated the way her ribs were prominent below the skin, and her hip bones jarred out shockingly. A few good meals will knock that out, she thought to herself. Maybe Edgar could cook for she sat Daydreaming about Edgar.
Edgar opened the door, holding Noah's hand and smiling at him. He saw the look on her face and the smile dropped from his face. "What's wrong?"
"The doctor with the discharge forms has vanished, I feel tired and hungry and I just want to get out of here. Stop being prodded like a lab rat and never again be told what a miracle it is that I'm alive." Olivia pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration and put a fake smile on her face, and looked at Noah. "How are you sweetheart?"
"We're going out for breakfast!" Noah said eagerly.
"Oh are we?" Olivia said. "Great, I'm starving. Hospital food is rubbish. And you are never going to find that out, do you hear me?" Noah grinned. Edgar leaned over to Olivia and kissed her cheek softly.
"It's great to see you up," he said.
"I feel like an old lady," she said, shaking her head. "I know I should be happy I'm alive, but I just feel so exhausted. I'll get over it."
"Well, selfishly I'm just glad you're here," he said. "It'll get better."
"Yes," Olivia said, a tired smile on her face. "I'll feel better when I've had some bacon."
"I'll track your discharge forms down," Edgar said firmly, knowing she needed to get out of the hospital. "Stay with your mum." Noah smiled easily, and sat down on the bed as Edgar left the room.
"were you good for Laimi".
Noah nodded his head and said" yes Mommy but I'm glad your coming home now with me and Edgar".
Edgat looked through the window. It was so good to see Olivia with their child. A heart warming sight and he smiled.
