I did it ^^
(Happy Birthday Chelsea!)
"Hey, Shuichi!" Kaito beamed and jogged over, ruffling his sidekick's hair as soon as he got close enough. "Haven't seen you all day man, where you been?"
"Oh, I've been with Gonta." Shuichi smiled at Kaito, lifting up a bag for the other to see. "We're documenting all the insects in his lab. It's... not the best thing to be doing."
"You want me to join? Kaito awkwardly grinned and scratched his head. "I need someone to hang with."
"Okay, but where's everyone else?" Shuichi passed the bag to Kaito as he fiddled nervously with his sleeves.
"You didn't hear?" Kaito's face scrunched up. "Tch, typical. Tenko was the one handing out invites after all."
"Invites for what? Is something important happening?"
"I mean, it's kind of important." Kaito shifted the bag, restraining himself from dropping it to gesture with his arms. "I think it's... Tenko, Himiko, Angie and Tsumugi, yeah, they're all up on the third floor in Angie's lab. I only found out cause Maki was invited by Angie, and she told me, but they're talking about making schedules and stuff like that."
"Schedules?"
"It's- shit man, I don't really get it." Kaito drummed his fingers against the bag as he thought. "Maki didn't give me any details, but they're talking about regulating who cooks and trading cleaning duties. They're, uh, they're also talking about... the labs. The old ones."
"Wh-what about those labs?" Shuichi's arms jerked in an aborted move to grasp ahold a non-existent hat. "Aren't we going to leave them alone?"
Kaito shook his head, understanding in his eyes. "It's not anything to worry about. They're just talking about taking care of the labs, stuff like cleaning them, offerings, that sort of thing."
"That's a nice idea." Shuichi's smile was gentle as they reached Gontas lab. "yeah, i really like that."
The ball bounced off the wall and dribbled back to his side, lightly tapping his foot.
It was as though it were driven back by a magnetic force.
. . . . . .
"Nyeh!" Himiko collapsed onto the ground with a tired huff. "This is too hard."
"Himiko, don't give up!" Tenko ran behind the other girl and lifted her up with a bright smile. "We'll succeed as long as we're together!"
"Tenko, I think you should calm down." Tsumugi sighed, "This is plainly taking too long."
"True, true." I laughed, looking down at the pages of notes surrounding us all. "Maybe we can ask some of the others for their opinions?"
"Hmm, I have an idea!" Tsumugis eyes lit up as she rocked on the balls of her feet. "Not all of this needs the impact of others. So how about two of us go ask for input from the others, and the other two finish the rest."
"Oh! Himiko can be a pair with me!"
"Tenko." Himiko frowned as she pulled away from Tenko, "Stop it."
"Umm, I'd like to be one of the two to go, so Angie and I can-"
"I'll go with you." Himiko interrupted Tsumugi, swiftly reaching out to tug the girl out of the room.
"H-Himiko," Tenko nervously stammered out with a pained look in her eyes. "I thought-"
"You're so clingy," Himiko grumbled, her words echoing behind her as she left with Tsumugi. "Just leave me alone."
The ball bounced off the wall and dribbled back to his side, lightly tapping his foot.
It was as though it were driven back by a magnetic force.
How depressing.
"Killing game to Robo-boy, HELLO!"
Keebo's unfocused gaze slid to Kokichi, the smaller pouting as he crossed his arms.
"Fiiinallllyyyy. I was starting to think you hated me. Y-you, you d-don't hate me? R-right Kee-boy?"
"No, I do not." Keebo's left hand twitched as Kokichi sniffled. "Why are you here?"
"Oh, I need to check something out. Wanna join?" Kokichi's eyes sparkled. "No one been here in a while, so who knows what we'll find!" As he gestured wildly to the lab looming over them, Keebo couldn't help but wonder if Kokichi had forgotten the situation they were in or who's lab he was speaking about exploring as though it were nothing.
"Kokichi, may I ask you a question?"
Kokichi's expression faltered before shifting into one of confusion. "Eh, but you just asked me one."
"Two questions, then? Is that alright?"
"You're setting yourself up for failure at this point." Kokichi deadpanned. "But whatever. Should've known I wasn't going to get much out of a hunk of metal."
"Robophobic." Keebo gently chided as he turned back to the lab. It was ominous, in a way, but also incredible to look upon. The shadows it cast over the two seemed to make Kokichi's eyes darken and glimmer in a way that made them look much more expressive than ever before...
"Do you miss them... do you miss her?"
Kokichi's smile dropped as he stared into Keebos robotic eyes, a whisper of something hidden there.
She was always good at making the panta loving boy express himself more clearly, wasn't she? Even with her... unorthodox methods...
"Geez, Keebo, way to ruin the mood." Kokichi chuckled lowly as he gripped Keebos arm and dragged him towards the lab. "Just come with me, kay? At least you'll actually be doing sh-stuff now."
Even with Kokichi's rough grip on his arm, Keebo silently thanked him.
He'd be able to be close to her again, and maybe he wasn't the only one who needed this.
The ball bounced off the wall and dribbled back to its origin point.
It was as though it were driven back by a magnetic force.
The ball was left abandoned on the ground with no compass left to guide it.
The girl swung her arms back and forth as she walked through the halls, nearing her lab.
It wasn't that she was going there to hide or anything. No, she just felt like taking a nap and hopefully, she'd be able to sort out her thoughts.
Maybe she'd been a bit harsh back there, but as her friend had told her, she could sort it out after they finished their task.
But it was such an annoying job. Where was everyone?
Her footsteps echoed as she walked.
She only found one person. Then again, that's why they'd split up.
The school felt empty, abandoned, and so cold.
Not that she'd complain. No, she was fine.
With no one around, she couldn't do the task, so if she took a nap, then enough time would pass for everyone to reappear, right?
Maybe someone cast a spell of avoidance on everyone, the girl thought with a giggle.
When she reconciled with her... friend, yeah, friend, then she'd tell her that exact line.
They'd both laugh...
The girl's giggles abruptly cut off, and the next time a noise ever left her mouth, it came with blood.
So... the formatting and whatnot is obviously... different to how this stories typically written, but you know what? I like how this turned out. I've rewritten the ending I originally planned, so using new contents getting the ideas flowing again.
Hope you enjoyed the long overdue update!
