Kanto Part 28
After they have been about to leave the place, they get a call from Celio. Ash says, "What is he wanting this time?"
"I am not sure." Alice says as they answer the call. Celio says, "Ash, Alice, I'm modifying the Network Machine right now. I'm changing it so it can handle trades over long distances. When I get finished, you'll be trading for exotic Pokémon from Trainers far away. But, there is a slight catch. For the link to work, the Machine needs a special gemstone. It's supposed to be on One Island, but I haven't found one yet. Who knows where it could be."
"So you want us to find it?" Ash asks, and Celio nods and ends the call. Ash says, "So where is the gemstone be?"
"Maybe in Mt. Ember? We did hear Team Rocket talking about it." Alice says as they go there.
After they get to the mountain, they climb down several ladders as they arrive at the B4F. They see some panels and Alice asks, "What are those?"
"They might be the Braille alphabet." Ash says. "They are good for blind people as that is how they write."
"I see. But I wonder what did they say..." Alice says.
"I don't know, but there is also a ladder." Ash says as they climb down the ladder and find Ruby on the pedestal. "Wow, this must be it."
"Yeah." Alice says as they take the gem and get out of the mountain. Once they get back to the Network Center, Celio sees it and says, "Oh! Th-that's..."
Ash hands over the gem as he puts it on the machine, he is delighted as he says, "Thank you! Ash, Alice, you're simply amazing. ... ... ... ... Um... May I ask one more giant favor of you?"
"What is it?" Alice asks.
"While I was studying gemstones, I discovered something important. There is another gem that forms a pair with this Ruby. That other gemstone is supposed to be in the Sevii Islands. Ash, Alice, please, I need you to go find the other gem. May I have your ferry Pass and your Rotom Phone?"
After giving him the items, he gives them back after typing for a while and he also gives them another pass called Rainbow Pass. Celio says, "This is my own ferry Pass. It will let you get to all the Sevii Islands. Ash, Alice, please, I can't do it without your help."
Once they are finished, they decide to go to the Four Island. Alice says, "So this is the fourth island...it is said to be the smallest island of the Sevii Islands."
"Yeah." Ash says. "And that cave must be the Icefall Cave."
As they enter the cave, they are amazed to see a lot more Pokemon residing, but after walking for a while, they get to the back cave and they see a commotion.
"Keep your filthy hands off the Pokémon in the cave! Do as I say, or you'll have me to answer to!" The person who is yelling turning out to be Lorelei, the Elite 4 member of the Kanto Region.
"Aww...shut it, lady, and leave us be." One Team Rocket grunt says. "Don't let your glasses all steamed up." The second one says.
"Ms. Lorelei?" Ash asks and the said person turns around. "Ash and Alice?! What are you doing here? No, we can catch up later. Right now, I need your help. Help me kick these poachers out before they do anything else. They've been catching Pokémon here, then selling them off! Are you ready? You take that one, please!"
After knocking out those Team Rocket grunts, Lorelei says, "Humph. So despicably weak. You! Tell me! Where have you taken the captured Pokémon? I'm smashing your ring once and for all!"
"N-no way! I'm not telling you that!" The grunt says.
"If you won't confess, we'll deep-freeze you. My Lapras is furious for what you've done to its friends. Go, Lapras! Ice Beam…" Lorelei says.
"Wawaah! Okay! I'll talk!" The grunt is terrified as he decides to talk. "The Pokemon are in the Rocket Warehouse on Five Island. There! I said it! We'll be going now! But I doubt you'll ever make it to the Rocket Warehouse!"
After they retreat, Lorelei turns to Ash and says, "Ash, Alice, thank you. But this is awful... I was born and raised here on these islands. I had no idea that those horrible criminals were loose here…"
"We are also the same, it seems like even though their boss is arrested, there are still some goons on the loose as well." Ash mutters.
"Something is weighing heavily on my mind. If anything were to happen on the island where I was born… I wouldn't know it if I were in the Pokémon League. I wonder if that would make me irresponsible to my home…"
"Don't worry, we'll stop them." Ash says as she nods.
After bidding farewell to Lorelei, they get to Five Island as they find the Rocket Warehouse, but much to their annoyance, they need passwords to get in. So they decide to head to Six Island first to get the Gemstone that Celio wants.
"This sure is a big island here." Alice says.
"Yeah." Ash adds. "That is the Water Path, it is a long route on the east side of the main island. It links the town with Green Path to the north and Ruin Valley to the south."
"Green Path consists of the western part of the smaller island, including Pattern Bush, and a pair of tiny rocky islets farther west. Outcast Island lies off to the north. Just look at how many places we can go there?"
"We are going to the Ruin Valley." Ash says. "That's where the gemstone might be."
Once they get to the Ruin Valley, they find a dotted hole, as they go down and they find a scientist with the Sapphire in his hand. "Fufu...fufufufu...I guessed right...I knew that there was a Sapphire here, so it belongs to me!"
"What are you doing with that Sapphire!" Ash yells as the scientist turns to face the two of them. "It's obvious! I will sell it to Team Rocket for serious money."
This causes the two of them to be angry, and the scientist says, "Don't glare at me like that! If you want it, why don't you go get it after I sell it? I'll even tell you one of the passwords to Team Rocket's Warehouse! The Warehouse password I know is "Yes, nah, Chansey. I'm done, don't think badly of me."
Then he escapes, much to the two's anger. "That is such an idiot scientist...I guess we are going to get the Sapphire back from Team Rocket." Alice says.
Once they get back to Five Island, they go to the meadow and find the Warehouse again, they enter the warehouse and battle some of the grunts who are in the way, and they finally find Team Rocket members Jessie, James and Meowth. "You three!" Ash yells.
"Those twerps again?" Jessie yells. "They are here to stop us again."
"Yeah, forcing our boss to disband Team Rocket like that, that makes us angry." James says as they start to attack them, but Ash and Alice also manage to defeat them with ease.
"Don't think this will be over." Meowth says as they all retreat, then they also find the scientist who stole the Sapphire. "I almost managed to sell the Sapphire for huge money, then you just have to come along and blow the whole deal apart! There is no forgiveness for you!"
The scientist uses the Voltorb and Electrode to stop them, but in the end, they are still defeated. "If I can't sell it, then it is worthless. Go on, take it." The scientist hands over the Sapphire, and Ash also knocks him out before leaving. They also called Lorelei and the police to get the stolen Pokemon back to their owners.
After that, they decide to stay at the Five Island as he looks around the Memorial Pillar, they leave a lemonade for the trainer who lost his Onix there, and they head to the Water Labyrinth and complete it to the Resort Gorgeous. They hear that the owner is lost in the Lost Cave, so they go to save her by getting her out of the cave, after that, the owner thanks them as she has a battle with Ash, and Ash won in the end.
They also get to the Seven Island, which is the southernmost of the Sevii Islands, and the farthest from mainland Kanto. They visit the Trainer Tower to challenge battles for fun, and then they also go to the Sevault Cavern to visit the Tanoby Ruins. After exploring, they finally get back to the One Island to deliver the Sapphire.
"So this is the gem that forms a pair with the Ruby... Ash, Alice, you've gone through a lot to get this, didn't you? You don't have to tell me. I know it wasn't easy. Thank you so much! Now it's my turn to work for you! Please give me a little time."
As he puts the gem on the machine, it starts to work and Celio says, "I did it! I linked up with Lanette! Ash... Alice, I did it! I've managed to link up with Trainers in the Hoenn region! Finally, the Network Machine is fully operational! Ash, Alice, I owe it all to you! Thanks to you, my dream came true..."
"You're welcome." Alice says.
After bidding farewell, they decide to head back to Kanto, and they go to Professor Oak's Lab to tell Professor Oak about the Sevii Islands.
"I am glad that you two enjoy the Sevii Islands." Professor Oak says. "And it seems like your Pokedex has 149 Pokemon, that is not a small feet."
"Yeah." Ash says. "We are really going to finish traveling to Kanto."
Professor Oak says, "By the way, Ash. I got a call from your mother that she wants you to go to the Cameran Palace in the Rota Kingdom."
"Really? I wonder why she wants us to go there..." Ash says as they decide to go there and bid Professor Oak farewell.
At the Cameran Palace, Delia is sitting at the bed, she thinks a lot, and then she smiles, "Ash...Alice...I think it is time that you two learn the whole truth about our family."
Just then, a maid comes into the room and she asks, "Your majesty, are you sure you are going to reveal the whole truth to your son? What if he doesn't like it?"
Delia sighs and says, "I am fine, Jenny. I am sure that even though he doesn't like it, he will need to accept it. After all, he has become a Champion of the Kanto Region, and this is the better occasion to show our family heritage to him."
"That might be true..." Jenny says as Delia continues to look at the window, waiting for Ash and Alice to arrive.
