"I think this dispute is maintained mostly by reincarnation. Yeah, the brothers reincarnate in their descendants and basically all just end up fighting again and again. Speaking of which, centuries later, Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama are born. Indra and Asura's reincarnation."
"Hashirama had three younger brothers. Tobirama, Kawarama, and Itama, the youngest two of which died in the hands of the Uchiha. Madara had four brothers, you'd know more about them but Uchiha Izuna, his younger brother, is the most important of his brothers in regards to this story. The two reincarnated brothers meet and form a friendship, hiding their last names, throwing rocks, and sharing their dreams of a peaceful world where children don't have to die- children like their brothers don't have to die..."
Nagi, invested in the story, can't help the mournful sigh at the memories of heartwarming episodes about the future enemies. The Naruto franchise had a lot of fans, she'd see the clips and memes that never fail to give her throwbacks of the series, partially responsible for why she can still recall this much even after a life time. The other part is history class that has her correcting the textbooks in her mind.
"... It was a great friendship. Like brothers. Were brothers..." Nagi mutters under her breathe, but since the both are extremely quiet too, they definitely hear it. She shake her head and continue her story after clearing her throat, "Anyways, their clans inevitably finds out, and after they break off their friendship, Madara awakens his Sharingan. Later on, watching Izuna being injured by Senju Tobirama, he activate his Mangekyo Sharingan. He... takes? Or maybe, Izuna gives him his own Mangekyo before he succumbs to his wounds, so that Madara has the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. Anyways, Madara and Hashirama fight, but for the sake of their old dream, Hashirama offers his own life to make up for Izuna just so that there is peace between the clans. Madara and Hashirama make up and form the foundations of Konohagakure, and Hashirama becomes the Hokage. This... doesn't sit well with Madara, because he feared that the Senju will control the Uchiha. Madara then learned of Infinite Tsukuyomi from an inscribed rock passed down the Uchiha clan from the Sage of Six Paths -only, it had been altered by Black Zetsu so he would leave to find a way to get the Rinne-Sharingan for absolute peace. He returns years later, bringing with him the nine tailed fox, under control of his Eternal Mangekyo, but gets... er, not really killed by Hashirama in the valley of the end and meets Zetsu."
"What." Shisui says.
"Uzumaki Mito ultimately seals the bijuu in her after it rampages. Hashirama, after capturing all the other bijuu, except for ichibi, distributes it to other ninja villages as a gesture of goodwill. By the way, there's also a time where he fought a ninja named Kakuzu, that's sort of important. Senju Tobirama becomes the second Hokage, creating the academy, the chunin exams, and lastly the Uchiha police force as an offering to the Uchiha to pacify them, and also maybe to keep their families together so they don't all collectively go insane because Tobirama was aware of the cycle of hate. This... turns out to be seen as purposeful division of the clan from the village. Anyways, what is really to note here, is that Senju Tobirama takes on Uchiha Kagami and Shimura Danzo into his escorts and in end, dies to save their and his other students lives in the first shinobi world war, passing on his Will of Fire."
"What about Hokage-sama?" Itachi asks. Understandable, since Sarutobi Hiruzen is his most famed student. But she's getting to that.
"Sarutobi Hiruzen goes on to have students, the Sannin. Senju Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru." She pause. Nagi has more details in things at this point, but she wonders how much she can divulge.
All in, she suppose.
She'll stuff in as much.
"Um, I can't really give a solid timeline, there's too much going on, but I'll try." She resume her storytelling, "Jiraiya gets a contract with the toads and receives a prophecy that he will teach the saviour of the world."
Itachi raise an eyebrow. Shisui stares at her steadily.
"Then there is the second shinobi world war. The downfall of Uzushio, which has Uzumaki Kushina sent to Konoha. The sannin fight Hanzo, the leader of Amegakure. That's where they are dubbed 'The Sannin' actually. Kato Dan, lover of Tsunade and prospective Hokage dies around this time. Jiraiya comes upon three very important people, a group of Ame orphans. Yahiko. Uzumaki Nagato, and Konan. Which, you know how Madara not really died? He awakened the Rinnegan and proceeded to transplant it to Nagato without anyone knowing, probably because Uzumaki, right?"
"Rinnegan, you mean..." Shisui prompts.
"Rinnegan-Sharingan, yes. Jiraiya takes them on as students. They're... actually the inspiration for the Tale of The Gutsy Ninja. Which I still can't find a copy of, by the way. Jiraiya believes that they, probably Nagato, maybe Yahiko, is the prophecy child. Uzumaki Mito passes on the kyuubi to Uzumaki Kushina. Later, she is kidnapped by Kumo, to steal the nine tails, I think, or the Uzumaki genes. Or both. But a classmate of hers and the genin student of Jiraiya the Sannin who he also thinks might be the child of prophecy, Namikaze Minato rescues her. Jiraiya returns to Konoha and the Ame orphans create a group called the Akatsuki. Remember that too."
She glance at the older ninjas, who perked up a bit at hearing about the fourth Hokage.
Nagi is close to their part.
"Orochimaru, the brightest of the three, was approached by Danzo, who was now a councilman. You know, the one-"
"Who's in the Hokage escort team with Uchiha Kagami."
"Mmn. Him. He invited Orochimaru into Root, an organization he founded for cultivating ANBU level ninja. This ultimately devolves into experimenting on humans, children specifically and, um... I believe his initial purpose for pulling in Orochimaru was so the Sannin can transplant a Sharingan on him."
Their expressions go blank.
"A Mangekyo, to be precise an Izanagi which...ahem. Hatake Sakumo goes on an important mission which he abandons to save his teammates, pushing up the start of the third shinobi war. He later commits suicide, leaving a young Hatake Kakashi. Hatake Kakashi graduates at five, becomes chunin at six, jonin at ten, and is sent on the Kannabi bridge mission with his teammates, chunin Uchiha Obito and chunin Nohara Rin under jonin Namikaze Minato. After Nohara Rin is kidnapped by Iwa shinobi, Obito goes to save her and Kakashi goes to complete the mission. Hatake Kakashi in the end goes back to save them, injuring an eye and Uchiha Obito awakens the Sharingan for the first time... Obito saves Kakashi and ends up with half his body crushed under the collapsing cave and asks Rin to give his eye to Kakashi."
Itachi makes a faint 'oh'.
"Minato arrives when the two remaining students are almost cornered and proceeds to go on his infamous rampage. Obito... doesn't really die."
"Again? I mean, not that it's bad, per se-"
Yeah, again. But in Nagi's honest opinion there is not enough 'not dying' going around.
"From under the rocks, Madara retrieves his body and with Zetsu, a white Zetsu, heals him. There are... some things that happen, a whole lot of brainwashing, I believe. A few months, or years later, Nohara Rin is kidnapped by Kiri and made into the sanbi jinchuuriki as a trap for Konoha. Kakashi saves her but... um, Obito also goes to save them but was just in time to see Rin jump in front of Kakashi's chidori. Or maybe, he didn't really see the 'jump' part. But this activates both their mangekyo, Kamui. Obito proceeds to slaughter all the Kiri after Kakashi collapses in shock. Madara succeeds in acquiring an Uchiha puppet to do his bidding and finally lets himself die. Around this time too, Hanzo and Danzo have decided to get rid of the thriving Akatsuki, by fighting them, holding Konan hostage and making Nagato kill Yahiko. Or Yahiko killing himself by Nagato. Nagato takes the name Pein, using Yahiko's dead body as a puppet and turning the Akatsuki organization into the absolute power in Ame. The third shinobi war ends and Sarutobi Hiruzen names Namikaze Minato as the fourth Hokage. In the outskirts of Konoha, former Root member Yakushi Nono had found a boy with amnesia in some battlefield, taking him in the Konoha orphanage and naming him Yakushi Kabuto. In Suna, the fourth Kazekage seals the ichibi in his youngest son, Gaara."
There is a caterpillar crawling under the floorboards and with a jyuuken strike that pass through the wood and into the chakra system of the most likely harmless insect, it dies.
It'd be a shame if the sushi go bad.
How long until Yuki-sensei and Yoji return?
"A few months later, Uchiha Mikoto give birth to Uchiha Sasuke, second born of the Uchiha clan and younger brother of the prodigy Uchiha Itachi."
Shisui and Itachi snap into complete attention, from where they're trying to process her words.
"A few months after that, Uzumaki Kushina gives birth to Uzumaki Naruto. Obito, now going by the name of Tobi, infiltrates the village to set loose the Kyuubi, facing against Namikaze Minato." Sasuke Madara and Naruto Hashirama start their new life almost exactly how they last saw each other, "By the end of the night, Naruto is an orphan and a jinchuuriki of half of the kyuubi's chakra, there is no Hokage, and the Uchiha clan had been accidentally or not so accidentally framed for the Kyuubi attack. Uchiha Sasuke is the reincarnation of Otsutsuki Indra and Uzumaki Naruto is that of Otsutsuki Asura."
Shisui hiss.
... Nagi wonders when they started to entertain her words as semi-believable. Was it by her third mention of the Mangekyo?
Nagi keeps her voice flat and without inflection of emotion.
"Taking the chance, Danzo moves to relocate the Uchiha clan compound to the outskirts of the village under the suspicions of treason. Uchiha Itachi graduates at seven, at which point he's already acquainted with Uchiha Shisui, the descendant of Uchiha Kagami, who was known, or will be known as the strongest Uchiha of his life time and the holder of the pinnacle of genjutsu -obviously barring Infinite Tsukuyomi, Kotoamatsukami."
Nagi finds herself taken aback when she meets wide, surprised eyes. It's the most honest expression she's seen on him.
"... On the third birthday of Hyuuga Hinata, heiress of the Hyuuga clan, during a visit of the Kumo delegate, the Kumo head ninja attempts to kidnap Hinata and is promptly killed by Hyuuga Hiashi, culminating in the sacrifice of Hyuuga Hizashi."
Nagi delays for a whole minute, then push up her hitai-ate to hold her hair back, revealing the cursed seal.
She dispassionately peels it off, setting it on the wood of the table.
"Wha-?!"
"Devastated with my father's death, and taking the Caged Bird Seal as proof that everyone is trapped in an inescapable fate, I grow to hate the main family. I don't go to attend the academy until years later, at which point... well."
This is no longer refreshing. It's getting harder.
Can they stop now and she'll just follow up later?
"Yakushi Nono is threatened by Danzo, accompanied by an Aburame and Orochimaru, to stop the funding of the orphanage unless she takes a mission to infiltrate Iwa and give them a child to induct into Root. Yakushu Kabuto volunteered in place of the other children. Years later, the two are pit against each other and Kabuto accidentally kills Nono who doesn't recognize him. He leaves and eventually lands in Orochimaru's side, to go on in the future becoming the sannin's second in command. Sometime later, Yamanaka Fu also joins Root and Aburame Torune, who enters Root in place of his cousin Aburame Shino, becomes his partner. They later become Danzo's top shinobi. There is also Sai and Shin, orphans in a Root program that has them killing their emotions by killing each other."
Shisui narrows his eyes in thought.
