The old Jedi temple laid in ruin as debris laid everywhere, lightsabers of blue and green laid not to far from skeletons. My stomach twisted in knots as many of them were smaller then that of adults. Which could only mean that these were young teenagers and children. I didn't need to ask who would be cruel enough to kill young children as his name still sent fear to people's hearts even though he has past on almost three decades ago.
Crouching down next to robes of a very small youngling, I closed my eyes and whispered a silent prayer. I hoped they were able to find peace in the next life and weren't witnessing this terrible war.
"They're dead Mari," His black boots entered my line of vision as my eyes snapped open
"They're children Kylo," Standing I adjusted my cloak as I refused to look at him "they didn't deserve to die like this and you know it"
Stepping away from the fallen youngling, I continued walking past more robes of younglings, teenagers and other fallen Jedi. Tears threatened to fall as I could hear the whispers grow louder since I had first stepped into the large temple. My desire to use the force buzzed in my veins as I could feel the urge to learn more then just my prophecy.
"You feel it too," Kylo strides up to me and kept pace with me as we continued walking deeper into the temple
"Yes," The air was freezing cold and the atmosphere was stifling as I felt like we were being watched. From where? I didn't know. By who? Maybe the fallen Jedi. I had read in the journal that you could contact the fallen force wielders.
"This must be the security room," Kylo reached out and opened the door as it groaned
"Why are we here?"
"I wish to see my grandfather"
He wishes to see his grandfather. Has he tried contacting him as well? Or was he afraid of what he would say to him? The bigger question was did he want to see his grandfather as a Jedi or as a Sith?
"It'll give you some privacy as I'm going to continue looking around,"
He took a seat in the chair as it was covered in dust, I felt like I was intruding on something more deeper. I wanted Kylo to tell me to stay and let me be there for him, to prove to him that I wasn't going to abandon him in his time of need. But Kylo, being the anomaly that he is, I couldn't do anything more than silently hope that he would allow me in. Because, Kylo had a right to want to know more about his own family through eyes that weren't biased.
"Be careful and wary of your surroundings, there could be looters hanging around"
"Understood Kylo," Bowing my head I turned and quickly left as I ignored the aching feeling in my heart that he had turned me away. Pushing those thoughts away, I had my own goal to complete.
—
The library seemed to have been left untouched as I had found it sealed shut. Thousands of scrolls and old books lay here since the beginning of time just collecting dust since the hall of the Jedi. So I was more than surprised when I was able to open it by just placing my hand on the large double doors.
I've been sitting here reading books about the Jedi and their teachings regarding the force. I mostly skimmed through them as I didn't care much about the Jedi as there was only one Jedi I cared about. Closing the book shut, I leaned back in my seat as a tired sigh left my lips.
I was exhausted.
But I couldn't stop now as I needed answers. I've come too far to just give up and not get the answers I deserved.
"Why did they have to be so complicated, why couldn't the Jedi invest in communication devices to the dead?"
"You have to use the force to connect with us young one"
I almost gave myself whiplash by snapping my neck to the side and what I saw made me almost fall out of my chair in disbelief. The man that stood before me was a jedi, the only Jedi I cared about learning about. The only way I could see him is if he had preserved his consciousness as a force ghost.
"Grandfather…" He stood tall and firm, dressed in jedi robes of beige and brown. His hair was a light brown but more of an auburn color with fair skin and dark brown eyes that bore into me as his lips curved into a smile. His body was tinged blue. "I mean Master Obi-Wan…."
"It's quite alright my dear, we're family" he paused as he crossed his arms over his chest "I imagine you have a lot of questions"
"Who are my parents? Why did they leave me behind?"
He wasn't surprised. That was the first question I had asked of him that had been on my mind since I learned of the true origin of my birth. "They were Jedi who were fleeing. From what? I'm not sure but your biological parents ended up crashing on your home planet where they met your adoptive parents who offered them shelter for the time being seeing as your Mother was pregnant and due any day. A few days went by and your Mother went into labor, your adoptive mother helped her deliver you. Knowing that there was still danger, they made a deal with your parents that they would return to come get you…" he paused as he watched to gauge my reaction before continuing "they were killed on the planet Corilla a week after they had left you."
So they really did want to keep me...which meant that they did love me. That thought brought me comfort that I didn't realize I needed as it felt like a small weight had been lifted.
"Have you been watching over me?" Obi-wan...I mean my grandfather merely stared at me with a slight nod "why can I see you but not my parents, shouldn't they be force ghosts as well?"
"It's complicated" Was his clipped response that I refused to accept as I shook my head at the bullshit excuse
"Tell me the truth, I'm not some child as I'm a grown women and I deserve to know the truth" He blinked as an amused half smirk appeared on his face
"A grown women who is on the wrong path"
I was correct in believing that my grandfather looked down on my chosen path. Which meant my parents most likely felt the same way as he did, that me going down this shaky path was dangerous.
"I did what I do to survive, to protect my parents who have been protecting me all these years"
Why did I care what he thought of me? He may be my blood kin but I had never met him so why did I feel the need to please him and exceed his expectations? It was a small aching feeling that clawed at my stomach as it didn't sit right with me.
"You're defensive," I scoffed "you know that your actions will only lead you down a path of misery and darkness. Please hear my plea and change your fate before it's too late…"
Change my fate…? My mind immediately went to the premonition of my death. Is this what he meant? It couldn't be. Kylo wouldn't let anything happen to me and I had faith in him because he has done nothing since I met him to prove otherwise. He's a good man and I'll follow him to my grave.
"No," Disappointed swirled in those eyes of his "I made a vow to Kylo Ren that I'd follow him to the ends of the galaxy...that's my vow to him. You can't change my course grandfather because even if I were to die, it just means that I'll have made good on my vow"
"His name is Ben Solo, he's a Jedi just like Luke and Anakin" Obi-wan walked around the library as flashes of familiarity and recognition flooded in my veins as if I were the one remanising
"Ben Solo or Kylo Ren...whatever he decides to become, I will follow him until death"
"You're letting your feelings misguide you"
"And you're letting the past cloud your judgment grandfather,"
"Perhaps...or perhaps you're walking the fine line between the dark and light side"
"I'm not a Jedi nor am I a Sith"
"Not yet, as the future is still cloudy with many what if's"
"And what about my death premonition?" Obi-wan snapped his head towards me with a look of surprise as his whole body tensed.
Interesting.
"Your what?"
"You heard me,"
"The last time I heard of a death premonition was about Padmé, Anakin's wife who was supposed to die in childbirth" His eyes glazed over as a far off look made it's way to his face. Obj-wan wasn't looking at me though, it was as if he was looking at Padmé. "The death premonition did come to fruition as she died right after telling me that there was still good in Anakin" His voice was barely above a whisper as he finally snapped out of whatever he was thinking about
"It's useless to think that I can try to change things then?" I paused as a smile made its way to my face "I'll simply die in the name of Kylo Ren" Saying that out loud didn't scare me like it should have, rather instead it felt oddly right and maybe there was something wrong with that.
"I highly advise you to leave the dark side and join Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker"
Shaking my head as that was something I would never do "I chose this path to save my family originally but I've come to take pleasure in my choice as I've learned a lot under the guidance of Snoke and Kylo"
"You're foolish walking towards your death"
"Was Padmé foolish? Or Luke?" They both believed in Anakin coming back from the dark side just as much I believe in Kylo to protect me from this premonition
He was silent.
"Would my parents be disappointed in my path?"
He was silent again.
"Is there a prophecy about me?"
"Yes," a small pause "there is one"
"Where can I find it?"
"They were all destroyed when Order 66 had been executed," dammit "but I can tell you the prophecy as I and Master Qui-Gon had investigated it when Anakin was but a young boy"
"Thank you grandfather"
"Farewell grandfather" Turning on my heel, I picked up the journey my parents had given me off the stack of books. I walked towards the large double doors of the library but paused as my hand settled on the cold handle. "You've given me answers that I've been searching for"
"I'll always be watching you" I didn't have to turn around to know that he disappeared but deep down I knew that this wouldn't be the last time to see him
—
"Did you find anything?" Kylo stood on the balcony with me in the crisp cool breeze of the sea as the moon had reached its highest point in the sky
After I left the library back at the old Jedi temple, both Kylo and I had found each other at the entrance. I had answers and had found my prophecy and Kylo had a small disc of old footage. The ride back had been very silent as we were both mulling over what we had discovered at the old Jedi Temple and neither of us was ready to talk about it.
"Yes, the prophecy along with the answers I had been searching for lie in this journal" I cradled it to my chest as i have poured myself into it "My parents tried to protect me by leaving me behind, now I just have to find out who killed them and why"
"No more running off on your own," he grumbled "I'll go with you if you desire to find these answers"
I hid my smile "Thank you Kylo," then that smiled dropped as I had forgotten to tell Kylo what I was informed by M'inoli "I have a confession actually, when I returned to M'inoli with the disc he told me that I'm to leave Canto Bight with him and the others now that I'm to be trusted"
"No"
"Kyl-"
"How am I supposed to protect you if you leave with our enemies?" turning to Kylo I wasn't expecting a look of slight fear as he stared at me
"You have to believe in me that I can take care of myself," I set the journal down on the table "the sooner I finish this mission, the sooner we can return to our mission"
"You're still learni-'' Grasping his face I silenced him as I molded my lips against his.
His lips were warm and hard as they pressed up against my soft ones, his arms immediately wrapped around me. He held me, flushed against his chest as he deepened the kiss. I kissed him long and softly, as I feared that I mistook his compassion for something else. With my heart racing, I let him slowly consume me as he backed us against the cool metal railing that dug into my lower back. The dull pain disappeared as Kylo's lips left my own, cradling my face with his left hand he dipped his head and began peppering my neck with soft wet kisses.
Soft moans left my lips as I could feel that familiar ache in between my legs reignite. A deep groan verberated from him as his hand slid from my cheek, down my neck and squeezed.
"Such pretty little noises…" his hot words grazed across my skin as his lust filled eyes mirrored my own desire "from my pretty little thing…" Kylo chuckled lowly " give in to me"
Swallowing thickly, I could feel his warmth seep into my skin, my heart racing, my mind glazing over in lust as I found myself falling under his spell. It was hypnotic, everything about him was. It was an out of body experience every time we got too close to the line that we seemed to play this sick but tempting game along. He showed me things, taught me things and every time we delve further into the darkness together. The higher I feel.
"Take me Kylo" I murmured as I was ready for him to consume me entirely until i was physically unable to leave his side "Take me until the sun dies"
A sinister smirk replaced his smile "My pleasure" leaning forward he murmured my name into my ear as he hoisted me to wrap around him
