I remember Vegeta finding me sitting on the floor in the corner of the bathroom. I remember the way his voice sounded when he screamed for Bulma. I remember Vegeta gently putting me down on the bed in Bulma's lab. I remember him asking her what was happening.

Then I remember waking up in Bulma's lab, I lifted my head and found her next to the bed in a chair, leaning face down on the bed, her head resting on her crossed arms. Her hand was resting on top of mine.

"Bulma?" I asked quietly, trying to wake her gently. She picked her head up quickly.

"You're up!" She said excitedly. "How do you feel?"

"Tired, mostly." I replied. Her excitement quickly faded.

"Kira, I-"
"I lost the baby, didn't I?" I asked. She looked up at me and nodded.

"I'm so sorry."

"I knew this would happen." I said quietly, laying my head back against the raised medical bed. Even though I stared at a fixed point on the ceiling, I still felt Bulma's gaze burning through me as tears flowed down my face.

"You...knew?" She asked.

"It's not the first time." I replied. "I was pregnant once before, right after Vegeta and I got married." I wiped my face. "I don't think I was meant to have children."

"Oh, Kira." Bulma said, standing. She sat on the edge of the bed and wrapped her arms around me, hugging me tight.

"Where's Vegeta?" I asked, breaking the silence after a few moments. "Does… does he know?" She pulled away, sitting back down in her chair next to the bed.

"He knows." She said. "I'm not really sure where he went, I begged him to stay, to be here for you, but he said he needed to train. He was...upset." I nodded.

"He doesn't… that's how he processes things." I said. "He'll be okay." Bulma leaned forward and put her hand on mine.

"I'm not as worried about him as I am about you." I looked at her, her bright blue eyes overflowing with concern. I didn't know what to say.

"I...I'm okay." I said. "I had hoped it would be different this time, but I think I knew it wouldn't." My stomach growled, and Bulma sighed.

"You Saiyans and your appetites." She stood, heading for the door. "I'll bring you something to eat." I started to climb out of the bed.

"I- I'd like to come." I said. "I can't just...sit here." She nodded.

"If you're feeling up to it." I followed her out of her lab and toward the kitchen, sitting at the table watching Bulma as she made her way around the room, preparing food. I spent a few minutes focusing, searching for Vegeta's energy. I closed my eyes, concentrating to extend my search across the Earth.

"Where is he?" I grumbled quietly.

"What?" Bulma asked. I sighed, opening my eyes. She was right in front of me now, setting down a covered bowl on the table in front of me.

"I..I was searching for Vegeta's energy, but… I think he's left the planet." I replied.

"I'm sure he'll be back soon. He just needs to work through things." She reassured me. I nodded.

"At least…" I chuckled quietly. "If he doesn't come back I don't have to tell him I can't mother his children."
