Chapter 28

He was exceedingly nervous, otherwise he wouldn't be sitting in front of this man asking questions that he already knew the answers to.Does she still like princesses and fairies? Is she still fond of sweets? Has she matured too much to enjoy frilly and lacy things? Yes, yes, and no.

Kuon whipped out the small box that had been resting in his pocket for the past few months and presented it for approval. Everything had to be perfect. There had only been three others that he'd shown the little bobble to: His mother, Kanae, and Shin. The reactions had been excitement, eye-rolling with a smile, and finally a roguish little smirk with a nod of approval. He had to say that Shin definitely reacted the exact same way as his grandfather, and probably the same way he would if he really calmed down enough to make the comparison.

All he needed now was the tacit approval of THE Director Kurosaki. The one man that held his happiness in the palm of his hand, without a doubt. The thing he wanted most right now was his future father in law's approval and blessings to be with the treasure in his heart. He honestly didn't need it, but for Kyoko's and his peace of mind, it was required. He had a hunch that there was still a little bit of the 'old fashioned' Kyoko left deep down inside and he wanted to appease that part of her. He wanted her to see that he wasn't the 'animal' he used to be when he had selfishly slept with her without any deeper thoughts as to why. He didn't regret the existence of Shin, but he did regret what he felt was his disrespect towards her. If he could go back and do it over, he would have definitely approached the situation more clear-minded than the first time. He would not be making the same mistakes.

"You can't be counted as seven years old yet, Shin." Kyoko giggled and scolded from the front seat. "You just had your sixth birthday." She reminded him.

"My birthday was two weeks ago. I'm two weeks closer to being seven, so I'm almost seven." He countered with the convoluted reasoning of a child that wanted to grow up quickly, eyes glued to his tablet PC that contained his latest little programming project.

Kyoko rolled her eyes and Kuon chuckled at the cute conversation he was witnessing. "We're almost there." He announced from the rear-view mirror of the Sport-utility vehicle he'd rented for their short one week stay in Florida, before they were to head to their first filming overseas. He'd planned everything out perfectly, the flight, the car rental, the hotel stay, and finally the special gift for his two most important people… an entire week of theme parks. Princesses for Kyoko, and Science Fiction for Shin. He only hoped that they loved it. Ushio had mentioned, when Kuon had brought up the proposal, that they really didn't frequent places like that much due to the fact that Shin was always at school or in front of his computer and Kyoko was working when she wasn't with Shin. Up until recently, she didn't feel comfortable exposing him. She didn't want his face plastered all over every tabloid and magazine in existence. However, with Kuon around she was a growing bit more comfortable with the idea of them all being out and about together. It had to happen sooner or later and Kuon actually grew up in that environment. Hopefully, he would be able to avoid most of the situations seeing that he had more experience with it than she did.

Her eyes went wide as they approached the large hotel, and he chuckled when he saw Shin's bewildered, excited reaction. "I booked the Royal Suite. It's a penthouse with all the amenities and this hotel grants private access to both parks from a special entrance near the lobby." He smiled widely, with a warmth coursing through him from the knowledge that their short family vacation was to the liking to both Kyoko and Shin. He had been worried that perhaps Kyoko had grown away from the dazzling fairy tale theme and Shin might be too mature for a theme park with rides, vendors, displays, and performances. No need to worry about that now. All was right in Hizuri-land.

Both of his family members had been completely entranced by their hotel room. It wasn't that they'd never had such lavish accommodations, it was the lengths at which the hotel would go through to please their clientele. Kyoko's room was literally decorated and fit for royalty, old European Fairy Tale style, and Shin's connecting room was decked out to resemble the Captain's Quarters of the Starship Enterprise. Kuon had it arranged that way and paid well for it. He finally had someone he could lavishly spoil and it was nothing for him to drop $30,000 on the deluxe trip if it made his two very important people in his life happy.

"Do you like it?" He was a little worried at first, but judging from their reactions, he knew he'd made the right decision.

"Like it? I love it!" Shin hugged him tightly. "Daddy, it's awesome! I don't even know where to start."

Kuon chuckled. "How about we go out for now, and meet in your Mom's suite later?" He had arranged for a few hours at the spa for Kyoko while he and Shin explored a little bit before dinner. "Or do you just want to get settled in first?"

Shin nodded with a big smile, before sifting through his luggage. "Explore! Definitely explore!" He exclaimed excitedly. "Are we still doing that thing tomorrow?" He'd been told of a few of the important details, but never expected this particular hotel or his perfect room that he didn't have to share with anyone, but his dad.

"Of course." Kuon winked. "Just remember, it's our little secret. I called ahead and they have everything ready. All we have to do is show up and get dressed." He informed him. "I just hope you're mom will like it."

Shin giggled, pulling off his shirt and slipping into a fresh one. "She'll like it." He assured Kuon in a muffled tone at which point Kuon assisted him in pulling his cute little blond head through the neck hole instead of the sleeve. This was the most excited that he'd ever been. He'd never looked more forward to anything more than how they would spend their week before jetting off to the EU for filming for three or more months.

When Kuon had suggested that she spend a few hours at the spa to relax, she had initially been a bit apprehensive. She'd never really been separated from Shin for an extended period of time, just to spend time on herself. All of her spare time in the past was spent doting on him. Now she had Kuon to help with that. She wasn't really sure how to feel about it. She was happy about it and relieved on the one hand; on the other, she felt a little put out about it and honestly didn't know what to do with herself. 'Me-Time'? What was that? She'd never really given herself or been open to the concept of Me-Time. However, both Shin and Kuon had insisted. Even going so far as to arrange a spa visit package for her before they had even arrived. She highly suspected that her two men were in on this together. Well, there were more than just the two that knew and were in on it. The others were just waiting for the photos, and video of the upcoming event that she was wholly unaware of at the moment.

Thinking of everything that had happened in the past 24 hours, she reluctantly locked her valuables in the room safe, grabbed her phone, and her hotel card key then left for the spa on the second floor. The boys had assured her that she would need nothing more than that, and enthusiastically encouraged her to take advantage, then meet them in her room when she was finished. They would certainly be done with their short little adventure by dinner time at around 6 pm. She glanced at her watch. That gave her a few hours to relax and wonder exactly what the heck she was going to do with herself for the remaining 2 to 3 hours after her spa trip, before dinner.
