Arc 5 Chapter 2: Gran Torino Approaches!
Everyone was having conversations about who they would go with for their internships. Izuku and Ochako were next to each other looking at their lists.
"Who do you think you'll go with Ocha?" Izuku asked.
"I found a perfect internship for me," Ochako said, "Gunhead's agency. He actually drafted me!"
"Wait, I thought you wanted to be more of a rescue type like 13," Izuku said.
"That's my end goal, but my battle with Bakugo taught me something," she said, "The more I learn, the more strategies I'll have. Plus I need some pointers in combat."
Izuku smiled then turned to Yusuke.
"What about You, Yu-san?" Izuku asked.
"I've actually found somebody that can help with my quirk," Yusuke said, "They taught here before leaving and they peaked my interest since our quirks are similar."
"Good for you," Izuku said, "I still can't believe I got so many offers from heroes."
"Well, it makes sense since you are All Might's son," Todoroki said.
Izuku made his way to the door only to see All Might on the other side.
"I AM HERE IN AN AWKWARD POSITION!" he said, "Izuku, come with me for a minute."
He met All Might in the halls.
"You've got an offer from someone I've known for a minute," he said, "He was a teacher who taught only for a year and I was his apprentice after your grandmother's passing. Gran Torino."
"The Jet Hero?" Izuku asked, "Oh man, I can't believe he taught you how to be a pro and control your quirk."
"Yes, though his methods are a bit….. How do I put it…. Scary." All Might admitted as he was shaking a bit, "It will be a great opportunity for you to fine tune your Full Cowling, and maybe learn some new moves."
"Ooh cool!" Izuku said, "But…. why would he send me an offer?"
"Beats me," All Might admitted, "But it seems good for you."
"Then I'll take it!" Izuku said with a smile.
"Also, this package came for you," All Might said, "Something about a costume repair. It came from someone whom you haven't seen in a minute. Your uncle David."
"From America?" Izuku asked as he took the package.
All Might winked.
A few days passed and everyone chose a hero to intern under. The students were waiting at the bus stop with Aizawa.
"I expect all of you to be on your best behavior during your internships," Aizawa said.
"Yessir!" Mina said.
"Speak clearly Ashido," Aizawa said, "Its Yes Sir."
"Yes sir…" Mina said.
The trains came and everyone started going to their destination. Ochako waved goodbye to Izuku before heading to her train and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Izuku's train soon arrived after and he rode it to his destination. A few minutes earlier he found himself at a building that looked pretty normal. The door opened by itself and revealed Gran Torino lying on the floor.
Izuku freaked out for a minute but then smelled the red stuff. It was ketchup. Gran Torino woke up and saw Izuku.
"Why hello there young whippersnapper," he said disguising his voice, "Its been a minute since I've had any visitors."
"Um…." Izuku said.
"Well, what do we have here?" he asked, "Some little boy wondering around."
He got up and started waddling around.
"Is this really the guy?" Izuku asked.
He started walking outside to make a phone call to All Might, but just before he left, he saw a figure bouncing around at lightning fast speeds. He turned around to see Gran Torino back to his usual self.
"Is this real enough for ya boy?" Gran Torino asked.
Izuku was amazed by what he just saw.
"Whoa," he said.
"So I assume you've come here to get more of a handle on your quirk OFA, yes?" Gran Torino asked.
"Yes sir," Izuku answered.
"Well there's more planned for this internship," Gran Torino said, "For now let's have ourselves a brawl to see how well you've become."
"Yes sir!" Izuku said.
Gran Torino dashed at Izuku who dodged by moving to the left. He then got closer and threw a punch charged with OFA. Gran Torino evaded that punch and went for a kick in the face. Izuku quickly picked himself up by using Force to balance himself. He then channeled Force into his fingers.
"Delaware….. SMASH!"
He flicked his fingers emitting a gust of wind which Gran Torino evaded.
"Well, it seems you've got some skill after all youngster," he said, "However…"
He got closer and pinned Izuku down.
"Your movements are still stiff when it comes to combat," Gran Torino finished, "On top of that, you're taking too much time with developing strategies and thinking whether you should use OFA or Force."
"Huh?" Izuku asked.
"Those with two quirks are a rare species, and those type of heroes often take long amounts of time coming up with strategies," Gran Torino said, "However there are also those who use both quirks together."
"But doesn't that drain a lot of stamina?" Izuku asked.
"Not if you do it correctly," Gran Torino said, "Which is what I have planned for you during this internship. Not only will we be perfecting your Full Cowl, but also we'll help you reach a higher output to get you out of your comfort zone, and help you make your force quirk more useful. You think you can handle it whippersnapper?"
"Yes sir," Izuku said.
Meanwhile in another part of Japan, Yusuke was walking to a temple. Inside of a room, he saw a humanoid Fox who was meditating. He was standing on top of a bostaff. Somehow he sensed that Yusuke was coming.
"Enter," she said, "Kneel boy."
Yusuke entered the room and kneeled down. The humanoid fox turned around and faced him.
"I am the spiritual hero, Kitsune, and you are Yusuke Urameshi."
"How do you know my name?" Yusuke asked.
Kitsune chuckled and said, "I know more than just your name. Those who step into my temple, I know almost everything about them. I know why you are here."
"You do?" Yusuke asked.
"I am here to help you find your way," Kitsune said, "You want to become stronger to be there for the one you care about, do you not?"
"Yes," Yusuke answered, "There's this friend of mine named…"
"Izuku Yagi, a boy who was gifted with his mother's quirk being able to pull and push objects at will, and father's quirk of unimaginable strength," Kitsune finished, "That boy happens to be the Son of All Might."
"Wait, how did you…"
"I know everything," Kitsune said, "Just kidding. I watched the sports festival. But believe me when I tell you, that this internship will be worth your while. We shall spend the next few days training you to use the demon side of your quirk."
"Demon side?" Yusuke asked, "What do I need it for?"
Kitsune jumped down from her staff and walked towards him.
"Your yin is strong yes," she said, "However you would do yourself a favor by training your Yang. Its not about what side is stronger, its about obtaining balance between the two. However."
She stepped closer.
"However, you are ignoring the other side of your quirk because of one thing," she said, "Fear. You fear that using too much of your yang will make you lose control. That is why I shall teach you how to use it. That is why you are here."
Other students were having fun on their internships. Todoroki reluctantly chose to work with his father on an internship despite some family drama. It was actually his mother who convinced him to go. Jiro was interning with Death Arms and helping out with hostage situations.
Iida went with Manual for his internship. Despite being excited about his internship, thoughts of vengeance were clouding his mind. Iida still had darkness in his mind for what happened to his brother.
'I swear! When I find that hero killer...' He thought clutching his fists.
Momo's internship was….. Odd. She was chosen along with Itsuka Kendo from Class 1B to work with Uwabami. She was a different kind of pro hero.
"Heroes can also have sidejobs," she explained, "There were a few arguments, but when they saw heroes like me, it was a high demand. For example I'm about to make a commercial. You should stick around and see it."
"Well I was hoping to see a bit more action and…" Kendo said.
"No!" Momo said stepping up, "You can't afford to miss out on this kind of attention if you're wanting to be a pro. Despite my unworthiness, she chose me to intern under her, so I am more than willing to learn her ways."
"Wow, you're really into this," Kendo said.
Uwabami walked forward.
"Do you know why I picked you?" Uwabami asked.
"Yes, because you saw potential in us a pro heroes," Momo said.
"Yes but there's another reason," Uwabami added, "You're both very cute young ladies."
Momo and Kendo were confused.
"Is she a lesbian?" she whispered.
Meanwhile Ochako was walking with Gunhead as he was explaining how his agency runs.
"The basic goal is to control crime right?" Gunhead asked her, "When a crime occurs and its too hard for the police to handle, they contact us heroes to do it, and once we do our jobs and paperwork, the agency decides how much we should be paid for it depending on what we do."
'I didn't expect him to be so friendly,' she thought as she saw the dojo.
She noticed people doing specific poses and combat moves. She was intrigued by what they were learning. So far everyone was enjoying their internships. Well, almost everyone.
