Ben walked into school with James. It was Friday and Ben was looking forward to the weekend. His father had freed up his weekend to spend time with Ben. It would be the first time in ages that he actually got to spend more than just a day with his father.

"So, are you going to talk to Felicity today?" James asked.

"Maybe," Ben replied.

"You can't avoid talking to her forever," James said.

"Yeah but every time I try and talk to her we get interrupted or something happens," Ben said as they walked into the classroom. Ben saw Felicity sitting in her seat alone.

"Nows your chance," James said as he left Ben alone.

"Hi, Felicity," Ben said.

"Hi" Felicity replied.

"How's your day going?" Ben asked.

"It's been good so far. I had to drop Teddy at school this morning," Felicity replied.

"That's nice. Actually, there's something I've been wanting to ask you" Ben said. "Do you want to see a movie with me next weekend?"

"That would be nice," Felicity said.

"Ok, cool" Ben said. Ben walked back to James.

"So, how did it go?" James asked.

"Well, she didn't turn down the invite" Ben replied. "I guess that's a good thing."

Felicity spent most of the school day thinking about Ben. He seemed nervous when he spoke to her.

"Could Ben have a crush on me as well?" Felicity thought to herself. Felicity didn't know what to do. She had two boys that were in love with her. Her shy classmate Ben and her superhero partner Tawny Owl. "Why does love have to be so hard."

It wasn't until later on in the afternoon that she saw Mia who wanted to know the details.

"Ben asked me to go and watch a film with him next weekend," Felicity said.

"You do realize that you are going on a date with Benjamin Russo, the boy that you've had a major crush on for over a year," Mia said.

"It's not a date. We are going as friends" Felicity said.

"You wish it was a date, don't you?" Mia said.

The blush on Felicity's checks was all Mia needed to see to confirm her suspicions.

When Ben arrived home from school, he went to his room and got changed out of his school clothes. He was going to have dinner with his father tonight. It would just be the two of them. Ben hoped to ask him if he could go out next weekend with Felicity.

"Why the change of heart. I thought you only had feelings for Wolfette?" Oona asked.

"I do still have feelings for her but I don't know who she is," Ben replied. "I can't be with someone if I have no idea who they are. Wolfette doesn't want us to share our identities and I won't force her to."

"That's what makes your work so well together, you understand and respect each other," Oona said as Ben smiled at his Kwami.

Ben sat with his Dad at the dinner table. They had one of Ben's favourite meals, Lasagna.

"How's school?"

"It's good. I'm enjoying my lessons," Ben said.

"That's good," His Dad said.

"Actually I wanted to ask you something. Can I go see a film next weekend?" Ben asked.

"With James?" His Dad asked.

"I asked Felicity, you remember me talking about her," Ben said.

"Felicity, I think I do remember you talking about her. She borrowed your jacket after Robbie's 16th" His Dad said.

"Yeah, that's her. We won't be late" Ben said.

"Ok, but Luka will be dropping you off and picking you up," His Dad said.

"Thank you," Ben said as the doorbell rang.

"It's probably your Uncle. He's always forgetting his keys. Could you let him in, Ben? I will get desert for us" His Dad said.

Ben opened the door, expecting his Uncle to be on the other side. The person on the other side of the door was someone Ben didn't recognise. It was a lady in her early 40's with brown hair and brown eyes. She wore a pair of black jeans and a red top.

"Is Carlo here?"

"Dad, someone's here to see you" Ben called out.

"Dad, Carlo's your Dad. No, it can't be"

"Megan?" Ben's Dad asked, "What are you doing here? It's been 11 years."

"You know why I'm here," Megan said.

"What's going on?" Ben asked. "I don't understand."

"Ben, Megan is your Mum," His Dad said.

"You told me that Mum walked out and left you with me," Ben said.

"There's more to the story," His Dad said.

"I don't want to hear it," Ben said as he stormed off, leaving Megan and his father at the front door.

"I think it might be best if you leave. I will talk to Ben."

"I never wanted to upset you and I know that you've moved on but I do want to have Ben in my life," Megan said.

"I understand but Ben's not the same person you remember. He's a young man now. As I said, I will talk to him but it's up to him to decide."

Ben sat in his room, looking out the window when his father knocked on the door.

"Ben," His Dad said. "We need to talk."

"Why didn't you tell me about Mum?" Ben asked. He felt confused. "Why did she leave when I was a baby?"

"I'm sorry, I should have told you," His Dad said. "Megan and I met at college, she was on an exchange year and I was still living in Italy. Your Mum and I fell in love and I proposed to her at the place we first met. We thought that we would be happy together but everything changed when Linda, your step mum came back. The two of us were childhood sweethearts. Linda's family and mine already agreed that we were to be married, I did try to tell them that I was already with you Mum. Anyway, Megan found out and asked for a divorce. A week later, I got a message from her saying that she was pregnant with my child. I didn't hear anything else from her until 2003 when she showed up on my doorstep with a young child, that child was you. She told me that she couldn't look after you anymore and walked away. I thought that I would never see her again until she showed up tonight."

Ben looked at his father, the person who had taken him in and raised him. He found it hard to understand what he had just heard.

"Did she tell you what she wanted?" Ben asked.

"Megan wants to see you," His Dad said. "I told her that I would let you decide."

"I need time to think about it," Ben said.

"Of course. I understand that it must be a big shock for you," His Dad told him. "Would you like to come back downstairs or did you want to stay here?"

"I'm going to stay here," Ben replied.

His Dad hugged him and smiled before leaving the room.

Note: I found this chapter hard to write. I planned to have Ben meet his Mum when I was writing his origins story but I wasn't sure on how to introduce her.
