POKEMON: LET'S GO

Episode 28: Charmander, Come Home!

"Our heroes have left Mikado Town as soon as the Foundation Festival ended. Now, they are back on their journey to Vermilion City where Chase will be having his next Gym match."

The group walks towards Vermilion City through a small wood, which Riley claims to be inhabited by very few wild Pokemon, due to being surrounded by two big cities, namely – Mikado Town and Vermilion City.

However, Chase denies the fact and continues to look for wild Pokemon in the bushes. Elaine asks him to stop behaving like a child. Chase ignores her and spots a Pokemon sitting near a tree. Chase recognises the Pokemon as a Charmander. Others, including Pikachu and Eevee, are shocked by the sighting. Chase quickly throws a Pokeball that hits its mark perfectly, but nothing happens. The frightened Pokemon uses Flamethrower, burning Chase, and runs away. Chase is amused as the Pokeball didn't work, but Riley concludes that the Charmander already belonged to a trainer and hence, can't be caught twice. Chase, disappointed by the fact, moves ahead along with his friends.

Sometime later, the group stops to set up a tent as the sun is about to set. Chase still complains of not finding a new Pokemon in the woods. A young man approaches the group and asks whether they have seen any Charmander around. The group is amazed and answers in affirmative. The young man introduces himself as John, the Charmander's trainer. He narrates that he caught Charmander years ago as a child. But, as he grew up and the pressure of studies increased, he stopped training his Pokemon. Later on, he joined a job and forgot about them. That morning, he found Charmander's Pokeball while cleaning his store room and decided to call it out, after nearly 7 years. He came near the woods to call him out, but it got frightened upon coming out and ran away in the woods.

Riley and Chase burst out on him for being irresponsible towards his Pokemon. However, he defends himself by saying that he distributed all his Pokemon in children, but somehow Charmander was left out. Elaine figures out that due to spending years in isolation, Charmander started fearing others, especially humans. The group agrees to help John in finding Charmander.

Elsewhere, Team Rocket is having a group discussion as Meowth shows them the blueprint of their new Mecha. Jessie and James push him aside and spot a lonely Charmander. They get excited at the sight of such a rare Pokemon. James calls it a perfect gift for Giovanni, however, Jessie wants to keep it for herself. Meowth returns and hits both of them hard with the blueprint, emphasising on catching it before thinking of what is to be done next.

The trio approaches Charmander, only to scare it. Charmander uses Flamethrower that burns down the blueprint to ashes. An enraged Meowth attacks with Fury Swipes, but Charmander uses Smokescreen and runs away.

Elsewhere, the group tries to find Charmander as the sun has already set. Riley comes up with an idea to spot Charmander quickly. On the other hand, Team Rocket also decides to catch the Charmander.

However, the escaping Charmander is found by a group of wild Pinsir who surround it. The sacred Charmander uses Flamethrower to stop a Pinsir, but another Pinsir jumps to attack. It is stopped in mid air by Butterfree using Confusion. Pikachu then scares away all the Pinsir using a Thunderbolt attack. Riley breaks the fourth wall and reveals to the audience that they spotted Charmander's tail flame using Butterfree's Compound Eyes ability that Grant's it resolute distant vision and accuracy. John comes forth to apologises, but Charmander tries to escape. Chase and Pikachu stop it and try to calm it down, but Charmander runs away using Smokescreen. Butterfree, using its ability, follows it and blocks its path.

A huge net falls on them and Team Rocket shows up in their balloon and recite their motto. Elaine explains John about Team Rocket. A frightened Charmander uses Flamethrower taht burns the net, but also hurts Butterfree. Both Pokemon fall down, Elaine calls back Butterfree and Chase jumps to catch a nd save Charmander, hurting himself in the process.

Charmander finally calms down and begins to trust Chase. Team Rocket's balloon comes down as they call Ekans and Koffing to aid them in capturing Charmander. Chase insists Charmander to fight and asks John if it knows any moves other than Flamethrower and Smokescreen. He tells Chase about Scratch after thinking a little.

Ekans goes for Poison Sting and Charmander counters with Flamethrower. Koffing uses Sludge Bomb that is dodged by Charmander. Ekans goes for Wrap, but Charmander uses Scratch and forces Ekans to go back. Koffing again uses Sludge Bomb that is dodged by Charmander again and then it defeats both its opponents with a Flamethrower. Jessie and James call their respective Pokemon back and James sends Poliwag as it has a type-advantage against Charmander. The group is amused to know that James has caught a Poliwag.

It begins as Charmander counters Poliwag's Bubble with his Flamethrower. Poliwag tries Double Slap, but Charmander blocks it with Scratch. John is amazed to see Charmander's true strength. Elaine says that only a good trainer can bring out the true potential of a Pokemon. Meanwhile, Charmander's close range Flamethrower throws Poliwag back on James. Then, Pikachu's Thunderbol and Charmander's Flamethrower together blasts off Team Rocket.

Later on, John asks Chase if he can let Charmander be his Pokemon as he can help Charmander become more stronger than John could do himself. Chase asks Charmander about the offer and it happily agrees. Chase takes Charmander's Pokeball from John as the group welcomes Charmander into Chase's team.
