CHAPTER 28: RENEWED PASSION

Kagome sat in a reclined chair on her balcony that overlooked their massive courtyard. The construction of military barracks and watchtowers were almost complete. Everything was starting to quiet down once more and she was happy for it. Looking down, her beautiful daughter suckled at her breast and was starting to fall asleep. Kagome smiled down at Sumiye, thanking all the gods for her three children and for the man she loved with all her heart.

Shuffling and laughter had her turning her head down through the railing of the balcony to see Katsuro and Tomoe running around each other playing. When Sesshomaru stepped into view, her heart skipped a beat. Leaning down, he caught his twins as they leaped hard enough to make him stumble slightly with a deep chuckle.

Sesshomaru hummed in agreement. Yuki came out of the garden and into the courtyard then, and when she saw the twin, she smiled brightly. She really did love them like they were her own children and loved to play with them. Sesshomaru nuzzled the twins cheeks and they all purred to each other before they ran to Yuki who scooped them up into a tight hug, all of them giggling. "Is it alright if I steal them for the day, My Lord?" Yuki's smile reached her eyes when Sesshomaru inclined his head in agreement. "Come on you two! Let's go play!" The three laughed as Yuki took them back into the gardens.

Sesshomaru was standing before Kagome in an instant, gazing at Sumiye with a tenderness in his eyes. Holding his arms out to Kagome, she passed their daughter to him and he laid her on his shoulder. The girl cuddled into his neck and whimpered softly, asking her father to help her fall asleep. His low purr reverberated through Sumiye as his large hand held her to him. Closing his eyes, he laid his cheek gently on hers as she fell asleep.

Kagome watched them with a knowing smile, but stayed quiet, not wanting to break their peaceful bonding. It was Sesshomaru who spoke first, his voice low as to not wake his daughter. "Menomaru's execution draws near. Kai has extracted valuable information from him." Sitting down next to Kagome, he kissed her temple and she smiled.

"Oh? And, what is this valuable information?" Kagome's curiosity peaked. "It has come to my attention that Menomaru's men have been planning to try and rescue him. Menomaru only confirmed it by saying that his men have been planning something 'big'. I was able to figure it out with Kai's help quickly." His annoyed tone caused Sumiye to stir slightly, but settled once more when Sesshomaru nuzzled into her small cheek.

"Sesshomaru...What are you going to do?" The worry in her voice had his eyes snapping to hers. "I will have to dispose of them. I will not tolerate my mate and pups to be in danger. I am their father, Kagome. I cannot..." He looked away as he trailed off at the thought of losing his children again and visibly swallowed. Kagome knew where his mind went and he scented her tears. Looking back to her, he gave her a small smile. "I can't lose them again, Kagome...I wouldn't survive it..." Kagome let out a soft sob and nodded, agreeing with him. She knew deep down that she wouldn't survive something like that either. She couldn't lose her children, or Sesshomaru.

"I love you..." It was a whisper, but Sesshomaru heard it loud and clear. Leaning over, his free hand gripped her chin gently and pulled her towards him. His kiss was deep and loving, showing her how much he loved her without having to actually say the words. It was more than enough for Kagome as she accepted his kiss and returned it just as deeply. He pulled away first and moved his hand to cup her cheek, smiling when she turned her face into his hand and kissed his palm.

Sumiye stirred, stretching and trying to hold her little head up over her father's shoulder. He chuckled, and she turned her face into his neck. Lifting her head, she pressed her face into his neck before flopping back down. Her little grunt had both parents chuckling when she tried to lift her head again. "She is strong willed. Just like you." Sesshomaru said and turned to Kagome. Their eyes met and for a moment, they were stuck. Deep blue stared into amber as amber stared into deep blue. The air around them seemed to electrify and they couldn't see anything but the person in front of them. Each other.

Sesshomaru stood first, his eyes never leaving hers, and held out his hand for her. She took his offered appendage without hesitation and stood. He led them back into their bedchambers and called for Yuki. When she arrived with the twins, he told her to take Sumiye as well. She was thrilled of course, and took the girl with the twins back outside.

Walking up to Kagome, his hands found her hips and pulled her flush against him. Her arms went around his neck instinctively as his arms went around her waist. "You are such a romantic, you know that?" She teased halfheartedly with a smile. His answering growl made her laugh and his eyes softened. "You own my heart, Kagome." Her smile reached her eyes. "And you own mine." His purr sent shivers down her spine and he leaned down, pressing his lips to his mark on her neck.

"I want to take you somewhere. Somewhere where it's just us. I want to be alone with my mate." He whispered against her soft skin and she moaned in his ear. He felt his cock come to life instantly at the sound and scent of Kagome's sudden arousal. "You don't have to ask, Sesshomaru. You can take me wherever you want." It was the truth. His answering smile sent tingles through her body. Forming his cloud beneath their feet, he lifted them into the afternoon sky. Kagome gazed at the horizon in awe as Sesshomaru watched her. It didn't take long for them to reach a small grotto, hidden by tall trees. A little waterfall that fell into a small pond full of water so clear, you could see the bottom. "Sesshomaru...This is beautiful." She smiled at him, his beast still present and he smiled back. Pulling the tie of his obi, he let his kimono fall open to reveal his lean abs and muscular chest. Kagome's eyes watched his every move as she bit her lip, feeling her thighs come soaked from renewed arousal. Stepping closer to her, Sesshomaru sliced through her clothes, leaving her bare for his viewing. He kicked his boots off along with pulling off his top, leaving him in just his very low hakama.

His red eyes roamed over her hourglass figure before staring at her slick thighs. Eyes narrowing at the sight, he stepped up to her again, pulling her flush against him. They both groaned at the feel of their heated skin coming together. He was happy that it had been several weeks since she had given birth to their daughter. Now, he was able to enjoy burying himself inside her tight walls again. While he did want more children with Kagome, he wanted to wait before they started having more. He had his three children all within the same year and he was happy with that.
