We were walking through the halls of the Museum of Antiquities, which I just found out is where Evie worked. I was walking ahead Jonathan said something or other, didn't catch it. Rick behind me, agreeing with Jonathan, "Yeah, what's that about?"
Daniel's being the scared confused man that he is, "What does this guy want anyway?" I started to turn the corner before everyone else. I saw two men talking quietly. I realised it was the one from Hamunatpra. Good, he made it out alive. They saw me standing there, I was just freely staring at the mysterious man. While the rest of them to come around the corner, and they are not going to be happy.
"There's only one person that can give us any answers." As they came around the corner, they saw who stood there. "You!" Evie exclaimed while the men got the guns out. "Miss Carnahan, Miss O'Connell. Gentlemen." Dr Bey greeted. Evie looked at mysterious man. "What's he doing here?" She asked. "Do you really want to know, or would you prefer to just shoot us?" Dr Bey shot back. They thought about it, "After what I saw… I'm willing to go on a little faith here." Putting their guns away.
As everyone got in a got comfortable, I decide to go up to the man. "I'm glad you're okay, good looking." With a smirk. He gave a little chuckle. "Yes, I am, thank you. But no luck with finding how to defeat the monster." "Don't worry we will find something," I comforted him, "Oh, by the way; I didn't catch your name. After all this trying to kill the Mummy situation."
"Ardeth Bay, Miss O'Connell." He replied, "Please, Miss O'Connell was my mother. Call me Alice." With a cheeky wink.
Dr Bey started to talk, "We are part of an ancient secret society. We are sworn at manhood to do any and all in our power to stop the High Priest Imhotep… from being reborn into this world. – Because of you, we have failed."
"You think this justifies the killing of innocent people?" Rick questions them. Dr Bey replied "To stop this creature? Let me think?" "Yes!" Both Dr Bey and Ardeth exclaimed.
"Question?" Having one finger up in the air. "Why doesn't he like cats?" Rick asking. "Cats are the guardians of the underworld. He will fear them until he's fully regenerated." Explained Dr Bey. "- Then he will dear nothing." Ardeth added on.
"You know how he gets hisself fully regenerated?" Daniels' asking people hysterically. "By killin' everyone who opened that chest." Henderson answered back monotoned looking at his gun ready for anything. "- And suckin' 'em dry that's how!" Daniels hysterical again. To be honest who couldn't blame him? Got a killing mummy on your hands that regenerates by killing you? That got to suck.
In the corner of my eye, I can see Jonathan playing with stuff that really shouldn't be playing with. Evelyn was walking and thinking on how to deal with the situation. She saw Jonathan playing with the bow, "Jonathan, will you stop playing with that?" Making him jump a mile. Making me chuckle.
"When I saw him at Hamunaptra, he called me Anck-su-namun." Dr Bey and Ardeth looked quiet concerned with this information. "And then in Mr Burns' quarters, h-he tried to kiss me." Evie looked quite disturbed by remembering that. I know I would.
Dr Bey and Ardeth sorted to talk between each other, even though we could hear them. "It's because of his love for Anck-su-namun that he was cursed. Apparently, even after 3,000 years -" "- He's still in love with her." Evelyn interrupted both of them, "Yes, that is very romantic, but what has that got to do with me?"
"Maybe he's got a crush on you?" I joked trying to ease the tension. They looked at me stone faced. Evelyn changed the subject quickly, questioning Dr Bey and Ardeth, "Yes, that is very romantic, but what's that got to do with me?" They turned back to each other resuming their conversation, "Perhaps he will once again try to raise her from the dead." Said Ardeth. "And it appears he has already chosen his human sacrifice." They both looked at Evelyn.
"Bad luck, old mum." Jonathan commented. "Shit, I got you Evie don't worry about that." I smiled to ease Evelyn's mind. Dr Bey interrupted us, "On the contrary, it may just give us the time we need to kill the creature." I could see Ardeth looking up to the sky. "We need all of the help we can get. His powers are growing." We all stood up looking at the black spot covering the sun.
"'And he stretched forth his hand towards the heavens…'" Jonathan quoted. "Couldn't make it creepier could you Jonathan?" I asked.
We came back to the apartment. "We must stop him from regenerating." Evelyn said. All of us were trying to figure out how to kill him. "Who opened that chest?" She demanded. "There was me and Daniels here." Henderson mentioned. Daniels continued, "And Burns, of course." Henderson added on, "And that Egyptologist fellow."
"What about our buddy Beni?" Asking for both of us. Daniels answered, "No, he scrammed outta there 'fore we opened the thing." "Yeah, he was the smart one." Henderson commented. "Well, that sounds like Beni." Rick and I said sarcasm coming out of our mouths.
"We must find the Egyptologist and bring him back to the safety of the fort before the creature can get to him." Evie demanded. Rick was thinking and it wasn't going to be good. "Right. The girls can stay here. You three, come with me." Pointing at Jonathan, Daniels and Henderson. Shocking me and Evelyn. Mainly me!
"Rick! What the hell? I'm not staying here being in the background! What are you thinking!?" My voice mixed in with Evelyn's. "You can't leave me behind like some old carpetbag. Who put you in charge?" Will in a mid-rant Rick picked her up over his shoulders. "O'Connell, what do you think you are doing?" Evelyn shouting over his shoulders. "Jonathan! O'Connell! Alice!" "Rick, what are you doing? You can't just pick Evelyn up like that?" He just dropped her on the bed like a sack of potatoes. All of us don't know what to do. "Sorry, but he's a bit… tall." Jonathan told Evelyn being scared of Rick. "Coward that you are! O'Connell, you are not leaving me in here!"
He closed the doors and locked the door. Evelyn muffled by the door. "Jonathan, if you don't open this door in one minute flat…O'Connell, let me out of here" He grabbed Daniels's shirt, "This door doesn't open. She doesn't come out, and no one goes in, right?" Daniels agrees, "Right." He looks to Henderson, "Right?" He agrees, "Right."
He looks to me, "Just stay here please? I trust you to keep her safe with that thing going around." I gave in, "Okay. But I'll have the key I may as well talk to her, try to keep her calm and not to kill you." Smirking. Evelyn wasn't giving in; she was still shouting. "O'Connell! Jonathan!"
"Let's go Jonathan." You could tell Jonathan didn't want to go, but I know Rick and with Jonathan being scared of him he'll do it. "Oh, I thought I could just stay at the fort and, uh, reconnoiter." Holding his flask. "Now!" Rick demanded. He rushed out of his seat, "Yeah, right. We're just gonna rescue the Egyptologist."
