Hello lovely people, here's the 1st of 3 chapters this week!I own nothing but the plot and the Morgan's, except Finn, he's not mine, but he's fun to play with.

Chapter 29

"Mia?" Lorelai asked as the red head came into the Crap Shack. They'd been back from Hong Kong for two days and the Morgan's would be leaving for Australia at the end of the week. As they'd be apart for a while- two weeks- Finn and Rory had been spending basically every minute together. Right now, Lorelai thought they were at a movie at the Black, White and Read. So, Lorelai was not expecting her favourite Aussie to come bursting in, tears running down her puffy red face.

"Mia sweetie what's wrong?" Lorelai asked worried. "Do you want me to call Rory?"

"No... I... I wanted to talk to you... I'm sorry I should have called." Mia said tears still falling fast and thick.

"Oh sweetie, no. You're welcome whenever, you know that. You practically live here on the holidays anyway." Lorelai said leading Mia to the sofa. "What's wrong hon?"

"Lorelai... I'm pregnant." Mia cried.

Lorelai's heart bled for the young girl in front of her, who so easily could've been her own daughter. Flashbacks of her own pregnancy almost twenty-one years ago flew through her head.

"Oh babe." Lorelai said gathering Mia in her arms and just held her as she cried.

They sat together till Mia cried herself out.

"Come on sweetie. I'll make some tea and you can talk if you want to." Lorelai tugged Mia's hand gently.

"I don't know what to do." Mia said sadly into her tea as they sat at the kitchen table.

"Does anyone else know?" Lorelai asked.

"No."

"Do you know how far along you are?" Lorelai asked delicately.

"No. I don't remember when my last period was. I can't remember if it was last month, or the month before or even the month before that." Mia said sadly. "Rory has this calendar on the wall with hers marked out, I should have done something like that."

"Yeah, but Rory's really weird and anal." Lorelai joked.

"Yes, and she's also not pregnant." Mia said seriously. Lorelai thanked whatever deity listened for that fact her daughter wouldn't be a mom any time soon.

"You still have options hon." Lorelai said, not knowing how Mia felt about the pregnancy.

"I can't do that. Not again." Mia sniffed.

"Again?" Lorelai asked trying to hide her surprise.

"I was seventeen. I couldn't... but I regret it... I can't do that again." Mia said fresh tears rolling down her cheeks. "I want to keep this baby."

"Okay, I'll help however I can babe. But I do think that you need to tell your dad and Janice, you're going to need them too sweets. And the father. Colin?" Lorelai said, this was a nightmare. She wouldn't wish this on any kid, but especially not such a sweet, funny, kind girl like Mia.

"It depends on how far I am. It's either Colin's or Jess'."

"Jess? Rory's Jess. Or not, I guess. But that Jess?" Lorelai asked surprised further.

"Rory didn't tell you? Yes, that Jess and oh god I hope it's Colin's." Mia said.

"Okay, well you need to go to a doctor to find out then hon. And you do really need to tell Colin." Lorelai said.

"I know." Mia said sadly. "He's going to freak."

"Probably, but he's a good guy." Lorelai said, hoping she was right. She thought Colin would stick by Mia, but then she had thought that Christopher would have stuck by her and look how that turned out.

"Yeah, he is but he didn't sign on for a baby." Mia sniffed.

"Neither did you hon." Lorelai said. "Right first things first, you're going away in what three days? So you need to make that appointment now."

"But my dad will find out." Mia said scared.

"I really think he needs to know sweetie." Lorelai said. "You're going to need his backing in this. Make the appointment and we'll go tell him, together if you want."

Mia shook her head. "No, I need to tell Colin first. Dad's going to want to talk to him. Or more likely shout at him, Colin deserves to know before my dad goes storming round his house."

"Okay hon. Well make the appointment and then call Colin." Lorelai said.

"Yeah. Okay." Mia sniffed.

Mia took her phone out and went into Rory's room. Lorelai put her head in her hands. This was awful. She hated with a passion that this was happening to Mia. She wondered how Phineas would react. Would he demand a wedding? Demand that Mia dropped out of school and become a housewife as her parents had done? Lorelai didn't think so. Would they be there unconditionally like her parents hadn't been? Lorelai hoped so.

She wished she could talk to them before Mia, prepare them, tell them what not to do to drive their daughter away. However, she couldn't. That wasn't fair to Mia and it wouldn't be fair to them.

"They can't fit me in for two weeks." Mia said coming out of Rory's room.

"Your dad could probably pull some strings and get you seen somewhere else quicker hon?" Lorelai suggested gently. It was what her parents had done. Rush her through the system, buy their way to the front of the cue.

"Yeah probably." Mia sighed. "Okay, I'm calling Colin. I'll go see him and then go tell dad and Janice I guess."

"Do you want me to come with you? To tell your dad and Janice?" Lorelai offered.

"No. Thank you." Mia said taking a breath and straightening out her shoulders. "Thank you, Lorelai, for everything."

"Oh hon, you don't need to thank me. If you need anything. Anything at all you call me, okay?" Lorelai stood and gave Mia a hug.

Rory had been having the best day. Finn and her had gone to the Black, White and Read movie theatre, where there was free air conditioning. When they'd come out there had been a freak rainstorm that cooled them down as they sprinted for shelter under a tree, laughing as they did.

"You're soaking." Rory laughed taking stock of the way Finn's shirt clung to his body sinfully.

"I'm not the only one love. You would definitely win the wet t-shirt contest." Finn laughed pulling her in for a firey kiss. "Do you want to come back to mine? Get out of these wet clothes?"

"Are you propositioning me Finnegan Morgan?" Rory gasped.

"Why yes. I am love." Finn smirked.

"What are we waiting for?" Rory asked dragging him out of the shelter under the tree and running towards his car, which was parked outside of Luke's today. She laughed as the rain bounced off her skin and slid down her nose.

"God you're amazing." Rory panted in Finn's bed not too long after they'd left Stars Hollow.

"Right back at you kitten." Finn said breathlessly pulling her heated skin to his own.

"I'm going to miss this." Rory sighed laying her head on his chest.

"From the woman who wanted to wait till we finished college less than a week ago?" Finn laughed.

"You've got to stop living in the past Finn." Rory giggled.

"It's only two weeks love." Finn said.

"I know, but two weeks feels like forever." Rory complained.

"Ah but after those two weeks you'll fly around the world and join me in my homeland." Finn smiled happily. "I can introduce you to my mates. We can have a barbie on the beach, we can go surfing. Its going to be amazing."

"You mean I can watch you surf admiringly from the beach, right? I'm not into that whole Blue Crush thing." Rory joked.

"As long as you wear your bathers love I'll be happy." Finn said.

"You mean swimming costume, right?" Rory laughed.

"You gotta get use to the lingo love. Otherwise, the natives will take you on a search for drop bears." Finn said.

"Drop bears?" Rory asked confused. She'd done a lot of research on the wildlife in Australia to make sure she didn't come afoul of anything that could potentially kill her but she hadn't come across drop bears.

"Oh yeah. Bears that live in the trees, like Kolas but a lot bigger. They're carnivorous and would eat a man alive in a single sitting if you give them the chance." Finn said seriously.

"You're joking?" Rory asked sitting up and turning to look him in the face.

"Nah, I'm not love." Finn said.

"I've never heard of drop bears." Rory frowned, she thought he was joking but wasn't sure.

"I'm surprised, you're so well read. It'll be fine we'll just stay away from the Bush love. And you gotta be careful around the water because of Crocs. But I'll be there. I'll keep you safe." Finn said leaning up and catching her lips in a kiss.

Finn and Rory pulled apart as they heard shouting.

"Is that your dad?" Rory asked with a frown. She'd never heard Phineas shout before.

"Yeah, something must have happened. Dad never shouts." Finn said getting up and grabbing his clothes from the crumpled heap on the floor and passing Rory hers.

Quickly the couple got dressed and came down the stairs. In the living room they found Phineas, Jan, Colin and Mia. Mia and Jan were crying, Colin looked like he wanted to and Phineas was pacing the floor furiously.

"Mia?" Finn asked dropping Rory's hand and going to sit next to his sister, wrapping an arm round her shoulders. "What's wrong darling?"

"Finn not now, okay?" Phineas said angrily.

"What's happened?" Finn asked.

"Finn!" Phineas barked.

"Phineas..." Jan said sternly. Phineas stopped pacing and sighed.

"Sorry son." Phineas breathed. "You might as well tell him."

"Er... do you want me to go?" Rory asked from the doorway awkwardly. This felt like it might have been a family thing.

"Rory?" Phineas asked focusing on her for the first time.

"Erm, yeah. Sorry. I can wait in Finn's car or get a cab. I can go to my Grandparents?" Rory suggested.

"No, you can stay." Mia said softly.

"What is going on?" Finn asked again.

"Mia's pregnant." Colin said bluntly.

The room seemed to stop breathing for a second and all the fears Rory had a few days ago came rushing back, but for Mia this time.

"Oh darling. It's okay. It'll be okay." Finn said softly hugging Mia that little bit tighter.

Rory moved from her place from the doorway, she gave Colin a hug that he eagerly returned.

"You'll be fine." Rory whispered in his ear, wanting to believe it.

"Thanks mother." Colin whispered back.

"You need a new nickname for me now." Rory tried joking but it fell flat. Colin tightened the hug for a second before he let her go and Rory moved passed him to hug Mia.

"It'll be okay Mi." Rory whispered to her best friend.

"Yeah." Mia whispered back sadly.

"What do you want to do about this? Is there a plan?" Finn asked out loud.

"No there's no plan." Colin said quietly.

"Okay, so what do you want to do Mia, Colin?" Finn asked.

"Well, that depends doesn't Mia? On who the father is." Phineas said angrily.

"You don't know?" Finn asked.

"I don't know how far along I am." Mia said sadly.

"It doesn't matter." Colin said standing behind Mia and putting his hands on her shoulders comfortingly. "I love Mia, and it doesn't matter whose baby this is. I'm going to be there anyway."

"A fine sentiment now." Phineas growled. "But if it turns out to be this other man's you might feel differently Colin."

"I won't." Colin said firmly.

"Other man?" Rory whispered to Mia.

"Jess." Mia mouthed.

"Oh, it can't be." Rory said out loud without thinking.

"What?" Phineas focused on Rory now making her squirm.

"Well, it's just, you were supposed to go to that concert of Lane's after Jess left remember? But you didn't because you had really bad period pains and I had to go out to get you more you know... things." Rory focused on Mia rather than the very angry father in the room.

Behind them Colin let out a huge breath.

"Then it's Colin's?" Jan asked.

"Yeah." Rory said.

"Thank you." Mia smiled at Rory. Rory shrugged but smiled back.

"Right, so that's decided then. You and Colin will get married. Colin will come work for me, you will buy a house close by. It's not ideal but, given the circumstances it'll work." Phineas said.

"Dad." Finn said.

"That is the plan Finn." Phineas replied firmly.

"Is that what you want Mia? Is that what you want Colin, you want to be a lawyer. It's what you've wanted to do for years." Finn said.

"What other way is there to do this?" Phineas asked pacing again.

"If they wanted to, they could finish Yale, Colin could still be a lawyer. Mia could write like she's wanted to since she was three. They don't have to give up everything just because they're having a baby! What if they don't want to get married yet?" Finn asked passionately.

"And how exactly would they raise a baby while still attending Yale?" Phineas asked.

"We'd help, they could make sure their classes weren't at the same time. I could schedule my classes so I was there when they weren't. And they could have a nanny too. This doesn't have to be the end of their lives." Finn said passionately.

"I'd help too." Rory said, she didn't mind scheduling classes so she could be a babysitter when needed. Heck they'd all done that for her with the Marty thing, this would be the least she could do.

"What do you want Mia?" Jan asked quietly.

"I want to carry on with Yale and I want Colin to be a lawyer like he wants to." Mia said firmly.

"And you Colin?" Finn asked.

"I'll do whatever I need to." Colin said.

"Yes mate, that I get. But what do you want to do?" Finn asked again.

"I... I want to be a lawyer. And I want to help raise the baby. I want to marry Mia. But not yet. Not because of the baby." Colin said quietly. "I want to marry her when we're both ready."

"You do?" Mia asked turning to face him.

"Yes Little Red. I do. I love you. I want you to be Mia McCrea. One day." Colin said with a small smile.

"This is not how it's done!" Phineas barked.

"Dad, you've always said we can marry for love. Not because of what society says. Mia and Colin should be able to do this however they like." Finn said.

"A baby needs two parents." Phineas barked back.

"The baby has two parents." Finn pointed out.

"They need to be married." Phineas insisted.

"Why? Mom and you were married. Look how well that went. Josh and Trisha? Poor Sophia barely even knows her mom. The idea that both parents need to be married for there to be a baby is outdated and has proven in this family, to be a bunch of crap anyway." Finn said passionately.

"I... I need a drink." Phineas said deflating in front of their eyes. With a look at the young adults on the couch he left the room.

"I'm going to go talk some sense into him." Jan said standing up.

"You alright mate?" Finn asked Colin while not letting go of Mia.

"Not really. I'm freaking out. How come you're not ready to tear a strip out of me too?" Colin asked wearily.

"Last week I was you." Finn shrugged. "The test could have come out differently. I could be where you are. I know some of how you must be feeling. I can't kick a dog while he's down. But Colin, you fuck either of them over then I will tear strips off you, amongst other things."

Rory and Finn drove back to Stars Hollow in the evening that day. They held hands but didn't speak. That could easily have been them.

Rory's heart hurt for Mia, but she'd do whatever she could to help.

"I probably won't see you tomorrow." Finn said quietly as they pulled up outside of her house.

"Oh." Rory said.

"Mia's got the appointment and I need to be there for her and Colin." Finn said.

"You'll ring me and let me know?" Rory said. "I want to know how it goes. And if there's anything they need that I can do, you'll call me then?"

"Of course, love." Finn smiled at her, his eyes glistening.

"Are you okay?" Rory asked pressing a hand to his face.

"No." Finn sighed. "I'm so angry at them, but I know how they feel and it could have been us. We could be where they are."

"We could have been." Rory agreed. "I think it's hard enough on them without having everyone angry. And like you said, just because it's come early, doesn't mean the baby won't be loved and cared for."

"I know." Finn smiled and pulled her in for a long, slow kiss.

"So, you'll call me?" Rory said unbuckling her seat belt.

"I'll call you." Finn nodded.

"I love you Finn." Rory said.

"I love you too kitten." Finn said. "Now go get. Before we christen the Escalade."

"Really?" Rory asked with raised eyebrows, loving the way Finn's eyes darkened visibly.

"Love..." Finn groaned.

"Sorry, sorry. I'll go." Rory laughed.

"Tomorrow?" Finn said as she opened the door.

"But you said...?"

"Kitten, I'm picking you up tomorrow night and we're going to find somewhere nice and secluded to park this up right?" Finn asked his voice deep and husky.

"Tomorrow night." Rory agreed readily a tingle flooding her body.

The days before the Morgan's flew to Australia were full of tension.

The appointment had gone well Finn had told Rory. Mia was almost three months pregnant. They couldn't tell sex yet but they could tell the baby was healthy, thankfully.

Phineas was still angry and disappointed but was coming around slowly, according to Finn and Mia.

Mia cried an awful lot and Colin was very stoic, unlike the usually verbose man. Rory was glad to see that the couple could usually be found together though, and despite the circumstances seemed to be more in love than ever.

The night before they flew off Rory and Colin were both staying at the Morgan's house. In the morning they'd take the family to the airport and drive the car back to the Morgan house for them.

The family meal that night was tense.

"Alright this is more than enough." Phineas said at the end of the near silent meal putting his cutlery down with an audible clang. "Mia you're having a baby, yes it's disappointing but the reality is there's going to be a baby here soon. We love you; we'll love the baby. Colin, you are part of this family now but this tension is driving me mad."

"Here, here." Finn said raising his glass.

"Now. There will be no more anger. What's done is done." Phineas said.

"Here, here!" Finn repeated.

"Thanks dad." Mia smiled looking teary again.

"Are drop bears real?" Rory blurted out in the slightly awkward silence that followed. Phineas, Janice, Mia and Finn all roared with laughter. That answered her question nicely.

Dessert was spent laughing, joking and talking about Australia.

"This is so exciting!" Lorelai bounced in her seat on the plane. They were flying out to Australia for two weeks and the Gilmore Girls couldn't be more excited.

"I know!" Rory agreed.

"I'm been practicing Australian for this." Lorelai said.

"Oh please. No. Not again." Luke pleaded.

"What, I want to hear this." Rory grinned.

"You really don't." Luke groaned.

"So I've got. G'day. Mate. Wakadoo. Tie me kangaroo down sport." Her mom started saying in a truly terrible accent.

"That's so bad." Rory shook her head and tried not to laugh.

"Nah mate it's not! I've put a shrimp on the barbie!" Lorelai giggled and Rory joined in.

"They're going to throw you out of Australia if you do that there, you know that right?" Rory said.

"Come on governor!"

"That's British. Terrible British." Rory laughed.

"Oh. Maybe we should go to London instead then." Lorelai joked.

"No way. I've been to England this year; I've not been to Australia." Rory said.

"Ah yes, I forgot, we're flying with the intrepid traveller." Lorelai said. "So, everything in Australia can kill you right?"

"Pretty much. Kangaroos are not as friendly as the movies make them seem. And the spiders are huge!" Rory said.

"So we're going because...?"

"Because it's sunny and pretty and because Finn's there and Mia and Jan, Josh, Sophia, Phineas." Rory explained.

"Oh yeah."

Mother and daughter smiled at each other excitedly.

"How's Mia doing?" Luke asked.

"She's okay. She said the baby has started moving, which is weird but she's happy. Her dad's chilled out more and Colin's there with her after his dad kicked him out for refusing to marry Mia." Rory said.

"He did?" Lorelai said looking shocked.

"Oh yeah. His dad cut him off, the last year of Yale is paid but other than that if Colin wants to go to law school, he's got to pay his own way." Rory said. Colin though had taken it surprisingly well, apparently this hadn't been the first time his dad had cut him off and because of that he had numerous investments that he could live off independently. He was also trying to sell the bar he'd brought in Australia last year so he had cash for the when the baby came.

"Wow. So, are they going to be living with you in the apartment when you go back or are they getting their own place?" Lorelai asked.

"They're going to move into Colin's room and turn Finn's room into the nursery for now." Rory said.

"So where's Finn going to stay?" Luke asked.

"Wow, it really is sunny." Rory said pointing out of the window of the plane.

"Rory?" Luke bugged.

"Well Mia's rooms free and the guest room." Lorelai hedged.

"Erm... well... my room, is going to be our room. Finn's and mine." Rory said biting her lip as she looked from her mom to Luke.

"Just for the love of God be careful." Lorelai begged.

"What!? You're okay with this?" Luke asked.

"It's not like they were sleeping in separate rooms anyway." Her mom shrugged. "Rory's turning twenty-one soon. I can't tell her what to do in her own flat. They're sharing a room on this trip; they shared a room in Hong Kong."

"Well, I don't like it." Luke grumbled.

"They're going to do whatever they're going to do whether they share a room or not hon." Lorelai said.

"So, sunny right?" Rory changed the conversation quickly.

Australia was beautiful. They were in Brisbane which was a city but it was so clean and there was plenty of greenery and wildlife.

Rory had met Finn's friends, all of whom she liked though had trouble understanding at times.

Today they were spending the day at the beach with Mia, Colin and a few of Finn's friends. Or, old mates, as he called them.

"It's so nice here." Rory smiled as they set up towels and she took off her t-shirt and shorts, her bikini a nice blue one that Mia had helped her pick out after Mia had found out Rory only had the one piece from Spring Break.

"The view has definitely just improved." Finn said kissing her shoulder.

"Yeah, it has you lucky fucker." Finn's friend Charlie said. Charlie was a short broad guy with shocking red hair and an abundance of freckles, he was very friendly and very funny.

"Oi, no ogling the goods. They're mine." Finn flipped his friend off causing lots of laughter and making Rory blush.

"Alright, who wants a coldie?" Bruce, another of Finn's friends asked lugging an ice cooler to the group that were setting up. Bruce was about the same height as Finn with blonde hair and blue eyes, he was a skinny as a rake.

"Well, I'm not here to fuck spiders' mate." Finn said.

"What?" Rory asked Mia in a whisper.

"Means he's not messing around." Mia translated with a laugh. "You got any soda in there for me Brucey?"

"I do indeed, soda for the pregnant Shelia. Rory, you want a bevvie or a soda?" Bruce said passing the soda to Mia.

"I'll have a soda too please." Rory said.

"You're not clucky too are ya love?" Charlie asked with a chuckle.

"I have no idea." Rory said.

"Nah, she's not mate. Trust me." Finn said before kissing her neck. "He's saying you want a baby too love."

"Oh god no." Rory declared, dodging a swat from Mia who was laughing.

"Fancy catching some waves, Finn?" Charlie asked.

"You okay with that love?" Finn asked Rory.

"Yeah, I'm good here." Rory said pulling out a book from her bag and passing it to Mia and pulling out a second book for herself.

"Blossom darling, fancy giving it a go?" Finn asked.

"Yeah, why not." Colin shrugged standing up. "Lead the way Buttercup."

"You've switched again." Mia told the boys with a smile.

"We're just so close, even we can't tell each other apart anymore. Isn't that right sweetie?" Colin battered his eyes at Finn.

"Without a doubt my fairest Colin." Finn swooned.

"We're so lucky." Rory said in exasperation.

"I know, right." Mia replied with an eye roll.

"Well if you two Shelia's are looking for upgrades." Bruce started saying with raised eyebrows before Finn tackled him, sending them both falling to the floor.
