Chapter Twenty-Nine
Hermione could here talking around her but she couldn't make out what was being said. There was a beeping coming from the left her but she couldn't move to see what was making the noise. Pain radiated from her body as she attempted to move so she just let out a small groan and tried to relax as much as she could.
The voices grew closer and then potions were forced down her throat, the taste making her gag but at least she was alive.
"Teddy." She groaned out as loud as she could. She had to make sure that her son was safe.
Words were making more sense now as the potion settled in her stomach. Her eyes opened only to squint at the bright light that invaded them.
"Hermione, bloody hell you scared us!"
"George?" Her vision was blurry for a moment as she tried to focus on the red headed blob in front of her. "Where's Teddy?"
"He's fine, he doesn't even have a scratch on him. Rosalie has been keeping him company as we've been trying to heal you."
George finally came into focus as did the three other bodies behind him. Edward and Alice were waiting for her to focus to make a move. And as soon as Hermione reached out for Edward, he was right by her side and grabbed ahold of her hand. He held on like he was scared to let go. Hermione just squeezed his hand and then looked back at George.
"We got your Patronus as the battle ended, wasn't too hard to defeat the newborns."
The Cullen's gave George a small look that had her look at Edward questioningly.
Edward smiled as he brushed a strand of hair out of Hermione's face, "It seems the wands come in pretty handy while trying to defeat newborns. The wolves and George showed up shortly after we found them coming to town. He took quite a few of them down himself."
"Was anyone hurt?"
George rubbed the back of his head as he let out an awkward laugh, "I almost got up close and personal but your wolf boy saved me from a newborn that tried to sneak around me. Jacob is a little bruised up but he'll be fine."
Hermione sighed as she relaxed into the bed, "I'm glad every one is alright."
"You almost weren't!" Alice shrieked as she walked over, "We found you in a pool of your own blood. What happened to Victoria?"
"I killed her."
There was silence in the room as everyone processed what Hermione said.
"How did you kill her?" Alice asked as she took Hermione's other hand.
"I invented a spell to specifically target vampires. I had been thinking about it for awhile before I finally took the time to create the spell. I wasn't even sure if it would work or not when Victoria attacked me but I was out of options."
"That was dangerous," Edward said softly as he looked at her.
"So is facing a homicidal vampire hell bent on revenge."
George laughed and stood up straight, "Well your were bruised and bloody, but thanks to your little bag that's always stocked, we were able to fix everything. Dittany is a life saver!"
Hermione let out a small laugh, "You have no idea."
George gave Alice a small look.
"George and I are going to check on the wolves, They've been crowding the place since you were found. We'll go update them and tell them it's okay to go home now. We'll finally have some quiet around here!"
"Can you please bring Teddy to me?" Hermione asked Alice as she began to walk out.
"Of course! Just let me get rid of the potential flea hazards!"
Hermione just laughed as Alice and George left her and Edward alone in the room.
She looked at him for a moment before she reached up and stroked his jaw, making him look at her. "I'm sorry you keep finding me like that. It wasn't my intention."
He kissed her hand and sighed, "You seem to attract danger like a magnet."
"Blame my best friend. I think some of his luck eventually rubbed off onto me." There was silence in the room for a moment before Hermione sighed, "It wasn't my intention to fight her alone. It just happened, she had Teddy and I wasn't going to let her hurt him."
He leaned down and kissed her lips before placing his forehead against hers, "I love you."
"And I love you, Edward."
"I'm thankful that you were mostly able to handle yourself."
"I want to get married."
Edward looked at Hermione with a smile on his face, "We are going to get married."
"No, I-," Hermione sat up and looked into Edwards eyes. "I never thought I would want to get married for years. I had a plan, a path that I had planned to follow. But then everything went from crazy to insane. I have Teddy and I have you, two things I never thought I would have, at least not for many years. But then you had to go and make me fall in love with you and I can't picture my life without you or Teddy in it. I want to get married, here in Forks. But I also want us to have a separate ceremony in London with my wizarding family. There have been so many life or death situations in my life and I want to extend this happiness for as long as I can. I want to be your wife, Edward."
Edward leaned forward and gave her a hard kiss, "We'll get married then, once you're out of bed we'll start planning." He winced before he nodded, "Once Alice starts planning. I want nothing more than to be your husband." He kissed her again, lingering for a moment to savor the moment.
They were going to be married.
