"Trav, wait up a second." Jack called out as he headed into the barn. Now was the perfect time to talk to him. Andy was standing at the front desk still, talking to Maya and Vic.
"What's up?" Travis asked.
"I took your advice. I got a call yesterday from the jewelry store saying that they are ready and I can pick them up tomorrow." Jack told him.
"Jewelry store?" Both Dean and Ben asked coming around from one of the trucks.
"What, you two have only been together a month and you're already thinking about buying Andy another ring?" Dean asked, clearly joking.
"Very funny Miller, no, Andy gave me her and Sullivan's wedding bands a few weeks back cause she said she couldn't look at them anymore. Travis overheard when she was telling Maya about it and told me about this place that turns old jewelry into new pieces so I went and had them turned into earrings for her. I didn't know what else to do with them." Jack answered.
"Yeah, I don't know what I would have done if Miranda ever did that to me." Ben said, "That was a good idea doing that."
The four of them headed in towards where all of their turn out gear was to put some things away. Jack pulled out the picture of Andy kissing his cheek from their first date out of his wallet and hung it in his locker.
"Nice picture Romeo." Dean said coming behind him, joking
"Yeah, yeah." Jack said laughing at his friend. "It feels really good now that this is out in the open."
"You know, for as long as I have known you, I don't think I have ever seen you this happy." Ben said.
"Yeah, I am." Jack smiled. "You know Squires told me and Andy today that the first time he ever saw me and Andy we were fighting like cats and dogs on a call and when he told Pruitt that we were going to kill each other he told him if they don't kill each other they are going to end up together at some point."
"I can honestly hear him saying that." Travis said laughing.
"Yeah, now just don't go and screw anything up with Andy. Of all people that could haunt you, you don't want it to be Pruitt Herrera." Dean said laughing as him, Ben and Travis headed out towards the barn again.
Jack smiled, but he couldn't help but think of what Dean had said about buying a ring. This was crazy, they had only been back together for a month. He just shook his head and headed back out to help in there. Less than an hour and him and Andy could have 24 hours of just the two of them.

The next day, Jack took a drive to the jewelry store where the earrings were. It was a local place run by a mother, a father, and their teenage daughter. He smiled as he parked the truck and walked in the store, the bell above the door ringing to signal to the counter worker that he was there. He went up to the counter as she met him there.
"Hi, I got a call saying the earrings I had made were ready, names under Gibson." Jack said.
"Yes, I have them in the back, I'll bring them right out." The young counter worker said and walked away.
Jack just happened to look down and saw a bunch of old fashioned engagement rings, one caught his eye though. It had a gold band with an oval diamond with some smaller diamonds circled around the bigger one.
"Here you go Mr. Gibson, all ready to go." The younger girl said and showed the earrings to him.
"These are perfect. Andy's going to love them." Jack said.
"Is Andy your wife?"
"Girlfriend." Jack said starting to think about everything him and Andy had been though since they have know each other, an almost engagement, running for captain, a skyscraper fire, fighting over him and Maya's hook up, becoming friends again, losing Pruitt, losing Sullivan, her leaving and coming back, and now getting back together. In the back of his head he started to think again about when Dean joked yesterday about coming here to get a ring. He didn't care that it was only a month that they had been together. They had dated before and this was way better than that ever was. They had been best friends for so long now; Andy was the person that knew everything about him and he knew everything about her. He could see his future with Andy, buying the piece of land where his favorite memories as a kid were and being able to build a house, getting married and growing old together, who knows, maybe even kids someday. This was it for him. There wasn't any turning back now. "Actually I was thinking, can I see that engagement ring? The gold one in the middle there."
"My dad just got this in the other day." The girl said getting it out. "It's not too flashy, not like the newer engagement rings out now."
"Yeah, for sure. This is perfect." Jack said as he looked at it.
"If you don't mind me asking, how long have you and your girlfriend been together?"
"We've only been together a month, but we've known each other now close to 7 years." Jack said, still looking at the ring.
The girl chuckled, "That sounds just like my parents, They knew each other all though high school, when my mom came home her first semester from college they started going out. Before she went back she was engaged, 27 years later they are still together and have me and my two brothers."
It was like that was the sign Jack needed for the final push to actually buy the ring.
"Can you add this to my bill?" Jack said before he could back out.
"Absolutely! I think this is a size six but if it needs resized you can just bring it back in, okay." The girl said as she started to ring Jack up.
"Perfect, thanks so much."
"Not a problem. Thank you."
Jack ran out to his truck and jumped in. What should have taken 5 minutes turned into a half an hour. He told Andy that he was running out to pick them up food, he never imagined that he would end up buying an engagement ring while picking up her earrings. He grabbed his phone and called her quick.
"Hey, where are you?" Andy asked when she picked up.
"Sorry the food wasn't ready, I'm on my way back now." Jack said as he drove down the block to where they had ordered from.
"Oh okay, just be careful I'll see you in a few."
"See you then." Jack said and hung up the phone. Giving himself a minute to catch his breath he looked at the calendar on his phone and saw that next weekend was the weekend that both him and Andy had off Friday and Saturday. That was it, that was when he was going to propose.
