The Battle of Olympus part 2
After Athena's spirit had left Calliope and Alecto with their new blades, the Ghost of Sparta and former Fury queen went through the gaps, finding several chests that Calliope opened while destroying some undead soldiers before both women arrived at the front gate of Hades's palace.
And there, they heard the voice of the God of the Underworld. "I knew you would be back, Spartan and Fury Queen. Did you miss me?"
"Not in a thousand years, you asshole!" Calliope said, very angry.
"Face us, you dickhead!" Alecto called to Hades.
Hades only chuckled. "All in good time, ladies. All in good time."
And by this point, Calliope had a new power called the Army of Sparta, which she made great use of when more undead soldiers appeared. After they were easily killed, Alecto flew Calliope to the next platform, as the path inside Hades' palace was blocked by something that only fire could destroy. Once they got across, they found a note on the ground from Peirithous, telling of how he was going to join Hades' table but would leave with Persephone.
After throwing the note away, the 2 lovers ran down the hall to the right and found a pair of chests that Calliope opened before the Ghost of Sparta opened 2 doors that revealed several undead soldiers and a Gorgon, which turned the undead soldiers to stone! While Calliope dealt with the Gorgon by stabbing it with her blades and pulling its head off, Alecto destroyed the undead soldiers before they were all dead and Calliope opened the next few doors and they went through it before Calliope found and opened 2 more chest and they both continued on down the path, ignoring the mess of brambles that were blocking their way before going left and encountering Peirithous himself, who had long been suffering in the Underworld.
The man begged Calliope and Alecto to free him. "I have suffered enough, Spartan. Hades, he sentenced me to this eternal torture. My prison of tinder."
Both women felt sorry for Peirithous. "How can we help you?" Calliope asked.
"I... these tinder roots, you need to find a way to take them off of me. I have nothing but my bow to offer you. Please, free me and it is yours."
Calliope and Alecto looked around the area and got an idea of how to free Peirithous. While the Ghost of Sparta jumped up above him and then onto the platform, which lowered as she jumped onto it, Alecto flew up to the ledge along the wall to the left and found a cauldron before pushing off the edge of the nook it was on. She then pushed the object all the way to the far end of the hall where a Cerberus breathed fire through a set of bars, igniting the contents of the Cauldron and making a gust of hot air spout upwards that Calliope used her wings to get to the upper ledge while Alecto brought the platform down again, opening the bars and allowing the Cerberus to get free.
Peirithous got scared when Calliope freed a fire cerberus. "Keep that beast away!"
That was when Calliope got an idea. While fighting the fire cerberus and all the other enemies she told Alecto. "I'll get that three headed freak, you use the Amulet to keep him from burning alive."
Alecto nodded as she used the Amulet to protect Peirithous, while Calliope took control over the cerberus.
"No! Please spare me!"
"Stay calm. We're trying to help you."
As Calliope forced the cerberus to breath out fire, her plan worked. The Amulet kept Peirithous from burning up as the tinder roots burned away. Then Calliope killed the cerberus and faced Peirithous, who was thankful for being freed. "Oh, thank you! Thank you both!" Then he took the bow and handed it over to Calliope. "Here. The Bow of Apollo. May it help you on your journey, Ghost of Sparta."
"Thank you." Calliope said politely to him as she took the bow.
After Peirithousleft to try to find a way out of the Underworld, Calliope used her new bow to burn the vines above them and kill the archers before Alecto flew her lover up to the ledge where she opened 2 more chests before they went back the way they came and Calliope burned the rotted vines blocking their way and went forward and Calliope found and opened 3 more chests before they went left and encountered a few harpies appeared, which they easily killed before Lady Death and former Fury queen went to the right and Alecto flew her lover to some hidden chests that she opened before they got to the Judges of the Underworld.
After searching the area and finding some chests, Lady Death and the former Fury queen went to the book on the end of the sprawling area and read it, saying that 3 trails needed to be passed before the final judgment: 1, the Condemned, which was the easiest, as they had to only kill the lost souls and the spindly arms that determined their fate. 2, the Lost, which had Alecto defeat the wandering souls before they were turned into Hades' army while Calliope dealt with a Minotaur. And the final trial: which was to destroy everything, which was what Calliope and Alecto did by killing a Gorgon first before killing the rest of the creatures. And once they were all dead, Calliope and Alecto were ready for the final judgment.
The 2 lovers then stood on the circle in the middle of the area and activated the prompt to receive judgment, making the statues move and talk. "By the Gods of Olympus and order of Zeus, we are the 3 Judges. Face your final judgment, Mortal and Fury. King Aeacus had found you both wanting. King Rhadamanthus has found you both worthy. But it falls to me, King Minos, to make the final decision." King Minos said before he did just that. "Your futures are cloaked in shadow. The afterlife is not yet ready for either of you. Beyond that door waits your destinies."
The 2 lovers then went through the glowing blue portal on the right side and after searching around the area, finding some chests and going through 2 more portals, 1 of which had a lever that Calliope pulled to open the closed gate in front of it and Calliope using nearby Cauldrons on approaching Minotaurs by destroying them with her bow and arrows, Alecto dealt the killing blow to the half man half bull creatures before they got to a bridge.
They then noticed a small statue that looks a lot like Pandora. From the small blue fire in the statue's hands they heard. "Hello? Is someone there?"
Calliope and Alecto couldn't believe that was her. "Pandora? Is that you?" Calliope asked with disbelief.
Pandora was then overwhelmed with joy. "Calliope? Alecto?! Oh, I'm so glad to see you again!"
Alecto nearly got teary of being so happy to see Pandora alive. "But... we all thought you were dead!?"
Pandora shook her head. "No, I'm alive."
"But how?" Calliope asked.
"It was Zeus, he's kept me imprisoned for months... He also took my father."
"Hephaestus? Your father is alive too!?"
Pandora nodded. "Yes. He's somewhere in the Underworld, but I don't know where."
Calliope and Alecto couldn't believe this. Pandora and Hephaestus were alive this whole time.
However, their moment was interrupted by Hades' voice. "Playing with toys again?"
"Show yourself, Hades! Another one of your tricks?" Calliope asked in anger while she and Alecto looked around.
"As usual, Lady Death. You are gravely mistaken."
"Face us, coward!" Alecto called out to Hades.
Hades only laughed. "So eager. Relax, soon enough we will have our time to play."
Then the small blue flame disappeared before the two women could ask Pandora where she was held captive. "Calliope, we need to find out where she is." Alecto said to her lover, wanting Pandora found.
"I know, baby. I want her found, too. But something tells me we'll have to get through many other challenges in order to do that. But I know we'll find her, I just know it." Calliope before they shared a passionate kiss. "But until we do, let's look for a way out of the Underworld… after we finally kill Hades." She said with hate forwards the God of the Underworld, getting a nod from Alecto before they continued on.
After Alecto flew her lover over to the other side of the chain and they got down to the bottom, reading another note about a mother who'd failed her son, they found a crevice they shimmy around to get to a new area where they encountered glowing soldiers that they used the nearby Cauldrons to kill before they followed the bridges back to a large room where they read a note from the captain who was eaten by the Hydra all those years ago, saying that he blamed Calliope and Alecto for his fate.
After slashing it to pieces, Calliope used the Bow of Apollo to shoot the tangled red vines below the nearby platform, creating a vent of hot air that Calliope rode up to the upper level with her wings while Alecto flew up on her own. After killing a few glowing soldiers, Calliope pulled the lever that brought the platform close to them to the upper level while Alecto went to the upper level and killed a few more glowing soldiers before bringing a Cauldron to the platform when Calliope brought it back up again. After pushing the Cauldron down onto the fiery base of the air current, making it more powerful, Calliope went up with her wings and brought another platform down to get to the nearby door that she opened, destroying more arms before opening 2 more chests before getting to the highest level with Alecto.
The Ghost of Sparta and former Fury queen then followed the hall back and, in the open area, where Calliope opened another chest and then explored the room with Alecto. Suddenly, several stone statues came to life and tried to attack Lady Death and her lover, forcing them on the offensive, using block/counter attacks to attack the statues while avoiding their hammer swings.
Once they were dealt with, Calliope saw another portal to the left and they went through it, finding a large building that they knew was the Prison of the Damned. Despite not wanting to, they both had a feeling that they'd find something in the prison and went inside.
As they went deeper into the cold Prison of the Damned, Calliope and Alecto saw so many souls being tortured behind bars. People who killed so many innocent lives. Calliope felt sorry for seeing them all suffer like this, but on the other hand, they made their choices in life so they eventually got what they deserved.
However, her thoughts would soon change as they come across a bigger cell then the others. Calliope became curious and peeked through the big door, and was shocked to see a familiar person inside.
'It can't be!' She mentally said with great disbelief.
She breaks the gate with her strength, which surprised Alecto. Before the former Fury Queen could object, Calliope went in and found... her father, Kratos, who was not looking anymore like she remembered him. He was chained like the same way she was when she was captured by Alecto and her Fury sisters years ago. She was shocked to see him no longer as a strong muscled warrior, but now was very skinny and tortured (not only physically, but also mentally) and his limbs nearly ribbed apart.
"No more... no more..." He said to himself, begging for this torture to end.
Calliope slowly walked to him, while she was shaking. "Father?".
Then he slowly lifted up his face and opened his eyes. "C... Calliope? Is that you?"
She sat on her knees and placed her hands on his cheeks. "Yes, it's me."
"Oh... Calliope... I'm... so sorry... for everything. This is all my fault." Kratos said, blaming himself for everything that had happened, and rightfully so. "When I took that blood oath to Ares, all I was thinking of was glory and death on my enemies. I killed so many people, my child. People who didn't deserve to die by my hands... I killed your mother... nearly killed you. After I died, I was put in this torment. Hades tortured me for so long... letting me see visions of you, suffering for the sins that were mine alone to bear! So much suffering, that my beautiful and innocent daughter didn't deserve." A tear fell from his eyes. "I should have died that day by the hands of that Barbarian king."
Calliope couldn't believe her ears of what her father spoke. Angrily she said while standing up. "How can you say all of this!? You're a Spartan! You are the greatest warrior that all of Sparta had ever known! I've looked up to you my whole life! Your lessons kept me going when I should have died! You taught me to never give up or ever let my guard down! And now look at you. You may be hurt for seeing me suffer like this, but in the end, it only made me stronger. And seeing you suffer like this, hurts me far more than it hurts you!"
Kratos was touched by his daughter's words, but still felt so much guilt. "Calliope... I..."
"You were supposed to fight back! And you allowed this asshole of the Underworld to bully you and torture you!? If that is what you really are, then all this time you were nothing but a coward!"
This sparked Kratos' Spartan Rage for the first time in decades. "I AM NOT A COWARD, YOU BITCH!" He yelled as he tried to grab Calliope, but was held back by the chains.
Calliope smirked at him. "That's the father I used to know."
Kratos calmed down, asking. "Were you just toying with me?!".
"Anger is more useful than despair."
That made Kratos smile. "Aren't those my words?"
She smiled back at her father. "Just like how you taught me."
Then Calliope took out the Amulet and used it to heal her father. After a minute he was his old self again, muscled and no scars. He sighed out in relief, feeling the pain had lessened. "Thank you, my daughter." Before he looked down for a moment, before glancing back at her. "You know, I didn't only see you suffering. I also saw how happy you were, with Alecto, becoming a mother, saving so many people... and Titans. I never would have had the strength nor courage to do all of that. I'm so proud of you, Calliope."
Calliope then hugged her father, though he was still chained, he tried to hug her back. But as she tried to break the chains by using her blades, it didn't work.
Kratos shook his head. "It's no use. They can only be broken once the reign of Olympus has ended."
"When Zeus is dead, right?" Alecto asked.
Kratos nodded. "Yes."
Calliope wanted to tell her father the truth about Zeus. "Father... Zeus is-".
"I already know, Calliope." Kratos said, interrupting his daughter. "He... is my father. Hades told me everything while he tortured me. I first couldn't believe it, but... it made so much sense." He then looked at Calliope, looking both serious and scared. "You have to stop him, Calliope, before it's too late!"
Determined, she said. "I will. Zeus will pay for what he did to us!" Before she departed she told her father. "When Zeus is dead, I will come back for you father. You don't deserve to be in this place... but with mother... in Elysium."
Kratos smiled at her and said with pride for his daughter. "Go, Calliope, do what you need to do."
After leaving Kratos' cell, Calliope and Alecto headed out of the prison, trying to ignore all the tortured souls. But then, to her right, Alecto could hear the voices of two women she never thought would hear again.
"We are the Furies! Tremble before us! AAAARGH!" One called before being tortured.
"What will it take to finally shut you up, Megaera!?" The other, Tisiphone said, being annoyed by her sister's constant threats to Hades' minions.
Alecto slowly walked into the hallway, where at the end of it was a room blocked by iron bars. Inside, were a dozen minions of Hades torturing Alecto's deceased sisters. The two other Furies, Megaera and Tisiphone. A minotaur ripped off Megaera's limps one by one and threw her body to the wall where she was chained. Immediately afterwards, the insect Fury's limps started to regenerate, but then got chained by some dark glowing chains, holding her tightly to the wall while Magaera grunted in pain. "Once I get off these chains... I'll rip you all into pieces, nice and slow... making you beg me to kill you!"
Just as Tisiphone wanted to hush her sister, she suddenly spotted Alecto and Calliope behind the bars. Tisiphone's fury grew when she saw her traitorous sister. "YOU!"
Megaera saw Alecto too and tried to get loose to grab her. "Alecto! I'LL KILL YOU! YOU HEAR ME?! I'LL KILL-". Then the minatour guard punched Megaera so hard in the face that her jaw broke in two!
While Megaera couldn't speak, Tisiphone said in both anger and sadness. "How could you, Alecto?! We were your sisters... and you turned your back on us!"
Alecto had more than expected Tisiphone to be more far more angry on her, but seeing that the decades of endless torture had taken their toll on her Fury sister, she softly answered. "I never turned my back on any of you. You did it yourselves."
Tisiphone scowled at that. "Don't make me laugh, Alecto! You were the first of us to follow Ares' plan to overthrow Olympus and then suddenly you got a 'change of heart', just because you had feelings for the Ghost of Sparta?!"
Once Megaera's jaw had recovered, she yelled. "If you had even the tiniest bit of caring for us, YOU COULD HAVE FREED US FROM HADES' GRIP!"
Calliope wanted to say her piece of her mind, but Alecto shook her head as she wanted to handle this herself.
Alecto then glanced back at her sisters and stated. "You don't think that I ever have thought of you two?! I have struggled with whether I should help you or not! But you never wanted any help. You could have had a change of heart, just as I did, but both of you refused! Yes, I did turn my back on you two and to Ares when I fell in love with Calliope, but that was also because I finally realized that we were wrong about trusting the former God of War! I... was wrong. He and the other Gods have tormented Calliope nearly all her life. She was only a child back then, and we took it from her while it was only father's blood tasks."
Tisiphone turned her face away from Alecto while saying. "We've always been with you 'sister'. From the very beginning we always have followed you and supported you. We were even in when you mated with Ares." She turned in anger towards Alecto. "And even when you gave birth to that halfbreed weakling, Orkos! You are nothing but a hypocrite, Alecto!"
That Tisiphone insulted Alecto's dead son, made her anger grow. "Leave my son out of this!"
Megaera then insulted her more. "Oh please, it was your idea to make him the Oath Keeper instead of us killing him. You are soft and weak! Just like that little brat you call 'warrior princess'."
Now Alecto was furious and slammed against the iron bars. "DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK THAT WAY ABOUT SYLVIA! Neither of you are even half the women she is now!"
Calliope too was angry at Megaera and Tisiphone for insulting their precious warrior princess, but held herself, being surprised at how angry Alecto would turn on her sisters for calling Sylvia a brat.
Alecto looked at Calliope before leaving. "Let's get out of here." Before Calliope nodded and followed her back to the portal.
Tisiphone called out to her older sister. "Alecto! Come back here, you bitch!" Before she was then grabbed by another minotaur and threw him to a cerberus, letting him feast on her.
Megaera kept calling out to Alecto. "DON'T YOU DARE TURN YOUR BACK ON US AGAIN, ALECTO! COME BACK HERE AND FACE US, YOU COWARDICE SISTER!"
Alecto stopped for a moment and said without looking back at them. "You are not my sisters. Not anymore. Farewell." Before she kept walking away, while hearing Tisiphone screaming in agony and Megaera kept insulting her and Calliope.
The sounds became less as both Alecto and Calliope walked out of the Prison and back through the portal, heading down into a cavern. And as she was sure that they were alone, Alecto was slowly starting to sob.
Calliope stopped her and both embraced, letting her Fury lover to sob on her shoulder. Calliope stroked her hair, softly whispering. "Shhhh. It's over now."
Though Alecto gave a small nod, she stated. "I just wished that... that I could help them... That they... could see their mistakes... but they didn't want to see."
Calliope kept Alecto close to her, understanding of Alecto being incapable of helping Megaera or Tisiphone to change their ways. "I know. I know."
After their moment, the former Goddess of War and the former Fury queen headed further into the cavern. This place was known as 'The Forge'.
The two lovers then saw at the end of the Forge, their old giant friend, the Smith God Hephaestus. Both were happy to see their old friend again after thinking he and his daughter Pandora were dead.
When they approached him, he was afraid and kept his back to anyone who entered the Forge.
The Smith God spoke while sobbing. "Leave me be. I tell you... I have paid the price."
Calliope then said. "Don't be afraid, Hephaestus. It's us."
The Smith God turned himself, looking down at the two lovers, being surprised and happy to see it was his old friends. "Calliope? Alecto? It is you! Well, well, well... I thought Zeus would have killed you both by now?"
"And we thought you were dead all this time." Alecto said to him, smiling.
Hephaestus laughed at that. "Hahahaha! Is that what Zeus told you?" Being annoyed that it was indeed Zeus that told them he and Pandora were dead, both nodded. Hephaestus chuckled at that. "Say, I heard a lot of commotion from up on the surface?" He asked while pointing up.
Calliope explained to him what was going on. "Me and Alecto were fighting together with the Titans against the Gods of Olympus. But we got... separated from them and now we are stuck here in the Underworld."
Hephaestus understood, for he knew that it was Calliope's destiny to bring down the reign of Olympus. "Hmm, so you have freed the Titans after all? Well, as long as it brings down that bastard Zeus... hahahaha."
While Hephaestus was working on something in his hands, Calliope and Alecto looked for a moment to the closed gates at the left side of the Forge, but then Calliope asked Hephaestus about the Flame of Olympus. "Hephaestus, me and Alecto are seeking the Flame of Olympus. Do you know of it?"
The Smith God looked at her surprised. "For what purpose, Spartan?"
"To bring down the reign of Zeus, once and for all. Now tells us, do you know of the Flame?"
Hephaestus continued making what was in his hands while he nodded. "Yes, I do my friends, for it was I who created the Flame after all. All true children of Olympus respect its power. But don't be fooled by it's enticing glow. Neither God nor man can touch it's lethal flame."
"It can even kill the Gods?" Alecto asked with surprise, not knowing that the Flame was that powerful.
"Why yes." Hephaestus gave a nod. "The Flame of Olympus is the most powerful force I've ever created. It kills all who touch it, even the Gods themselves."
"We only need to find it." Calliope said.
Hephaestus hesitated, for he didn't want to tell them more about the Flame's true nature.
Alecto noticed it and began to get suspicious that their friend was hiding something.
But being a good friend to them both, Hephaestus did trust them with this information about the Flame. "If you seek the Flame, you can find it on the top of Mount Olympus. Zeus had placed it in the most secure place on the mountain, close to the throne room."
Both Calliope and Alecto knew the place that their friend meant and thanked him before leaving. "Thank you for your help, Hephaestus." Before he only nodded as he went back to his work.
After going right and pulling the lever that opened the nearby gate, Calliope and Alecto went through it and a door. On the other side of the door was a circular platform that Alecto rotated using the crank at the center, rotating it counterclockwise so that the opening they used on the left side was positioned on the right side to allow Calliope access to the small cave on the right. After Calliope killed several dog creatures, she opened 2 chests before rejoining her lover on the platform before Alecto rotated so that the entrance was now lined up with the opening with the brambles in the distance this time. After Calliope destroyed them with her bow and arrows, they ran down the ramps outside where Calliope opened another chest before they got to an area where the Blade of Olympus had landed.
Calliope and Alecto found the Blade again, being pierced into one of the statues that looked like Pandora as it lit a small blue fire, revealing Pandora. "Calliope? Alecto?"
Both lovers went near the statue. "We are here, Pandora". Alecto ensured her.
"Is Sylvia alright? Where is she?" Pandora asked, wanting to know if her best friend was alright.
Calliope ensured her. "She is alright. Our... new friend is keeping her safe."
Pandora felt relieved. "Thank goodness. I miss her terribly."
"Where exactly is Zeus keeping you imprisoned?" Alecto asked.
"I... I don't know. I have tried to figure that out ever since I have been put in here. The guards refused to give me any answers, but they have recently been replaced by monsters. But I'm not afraid of them."
Calliope smiled as she took the Blade. "It's good you're not afraid, child. Fear is a heavy burden."
Pandora was annoyed at still being called like that. "I'm not a child anymore, Calliope."
Calliope chuckled at how she knew she hated being called a child ever since she became a teenager. "We know... Pandora."
As Calliope pulled the blade out of the statue, Pandora pleaded. "Please, I need you to free me."
Both lovers wanted to rescue Pandora, but that was hard since they don't know where she was, so Alecto said. "We know, Pandora. But if we don't know where you are... we can't help you. We'll do what we can, okay?"
Pandora understood. "Thank you... Be careful." Before the flame disappeared.
After killing more undead soldiers and going back to the entrance they were at before, Calliope used her bow and arrows to burn the rotted vines before 2 cerberus came to life and tried to attack Calliope and Alecto but the Ghost of Sparta used the Blade to easily kill 1 of them while Alecto killed the other one.
When Calliope started to pull open the gate, she and Alecto heard Hades' voice again, taunting them. "I can understand why Zeus was so taken with you, Calliope. You are a capable warrior, along with your precious Fury lover."
"Fuck off, Hades!" Calliope said angrily.
After killing some more monsters, Calliope and Alecto were now inside Hades Palace, hearing his voice as they neared a giant bronze statue of him. "Welcome, ladies. Come in. Make yourselves at home. This time, neither of you will be leaving."
"Then come and face us, you coward!" Alecto said angrily to Hades, wherever he was.
When the 2 lovers then entered a cavernous room with a large tree in the middle, they headed into the hallway on the right, destroyed the structure and grabbed the cart with the pile of stones on it before pushing it to the wheel in the room. After Calliope turned the wheel, making a gate on the upper level open, Alecto flew them to the upper level and Calliope opened 2 more chests before they went in the room to the right, where they dealt with 2 Minotaurs, using magic attacks to weaken them before finishing them off with their blades before they continued up the ramps to the higher level.
After finding more chests in the area, Calliope opened them before finding a crank that she took back to the area and placed it in the mechanism before turning the crank to bring down the casket holding Persephone, the Goddess who tried to destroy the world while Calliope was pregnant with Sylvia.
Then as they saw the coffin of Persephone, both Lovers were disgusted to see the same roque Goddess that nearly destroyed the world... and their warrior princess in the process.
Hades spoke with anger as what Calliope and Alecto did to him. "Now it falls to me to collect payment for the pain you have wrought."
As Calliope looked at the Hades statue's arms and the cuffs on the walls on each side, she got an idea and turned the crank counterclockwise, opening the cuffs and waited until it ran out of time before they closed again. "Alecto, those 2 upper levels must have some mechanisms to get the arms into the cuffs. Think you can do that while I hold the crank?"
Alecto smiled and kissed Calliope before saying. "Be right back, baby." Before she went to the left upper level and pulled the wheel, bringing the right arm into the open cuff before it closed around the wrist before the ex Fury queen used her black goo to keep the wheel the way it was. Alecto then went to the right upper level and pulled the other wheel, bringing the arm into the cuff before it closed, allowing Alecto to rejoin her lover before they kissed again and the Ghost of Sparta used her blades to bring the casket to the statue real fast, making a hole in the statue before they went through it and into a dark room.
They then heard Hades' voice again. "Ah. Calliope and Alecto. So glad you could carve out some time for us. You know we need it. I sense some bad blood between us, ladies. Oh, all the memories. They're overwhelming, really. Let's see... How many sins have you both committed against me? Oh, that's right, Calliope, you murdered my niece, Athena. And what else. What else? Ah, and you also killed my brother, Poseidon. And I have not forgotten that you both butchered my beautiful queen! I will see you both suffer as I have suffered! Your souls are mine!"
Hades then snuck up behind them and with his Claw weapons, the King of the Underworld nearly ribbed out both Calliope and Alecto's souls but Calliope broke it in time with her blades before the battle against the God of the Underworld began!
Calliope and Alecto stayed around Hades' feet and hit him with standard attacks, using the Cyclone of Chaos to get in quick hits. And when he lifted his foot, they evaded away to avoid the ensuing attack and kept attacking him at close range while dodging his foot and claw attacks until they stunned him long enough for Calliope to tear off a chunk of flesh on his chest before Alecto destroyed it, infuriating Hades!
Hades then instituted a widespread attack, making Calliope and Alecto watch the ground carefully as it turned black. But One safe spot eventually appeared: a light spot on the darkened ground that they rushed to to avoid the attack, making it unharmed to the spot and avoiding the chains that appeared.
After this, the fight continued much like before with Hades' attacks being somewhat more intense. He tried to whip Calliope and Alecto more, but they evaded in the same manner while sticking close and attacking him the same way. He also sent some ghost skulls at them occasionally but they simply ran around the area until they dispersed. After stunning Hades again and ripping off another chunk of flesh on his chest and destroying it the same way, Calliope and Alecto avoided the widespread attack again.
After getting Face-to-face with Hades once again, returning to your attacks at his feet, he once again had a few new tricks: with One attack he started using had him summon chains that shot out of the ground individually. Calliope and Alecto ran in a wide loop around the area to avoid them until they stopped but the God of the Underworld also began to summon phantom Cerberuses. This attack was short but powerful, and hard to avoid for the 2 lovers and it seemed that running away was the best strategy, but they began using their magic to avoid the dogs and deal damage to Hades at the same time until he was stunned long enough for Calliope to tear off a chunk of flesh from his left hip, allowing Alecto to destroy it before they avoided the chains again the same way and Alecto stunned Hades long enough for Calliope to stay right into his head 9 times!
After that, Hades used his claws to create a barrier in the floor between himself and the 2 lovers as Calliope used 1 of her blade's chains to wrap around Hades' claws. Hades then tried to pull Calliope into the River Styx but she used her strength to keep herself on the ground while attacking Hades with her free blade and avoiding his claw attacks until Alecto successfully used 1 of her blades to stab Hades in the head, making him stumble back into the wall and allowing Calliope to wrap her chains to the ceiling and bashed his head against it 10 times before the Ghost of Sparta was able to get Hades' claws while the God of the Underworld himself fell into the River Styx.
After testing her new weapons on undead soldiers, Hades rose up from the river in his giant form!
Hades then used powerful attacks, but Calliope and Alecto easily avoided them by using the grapple point on the left side of and right sides to zip around to Hades' back before attacking him before he turned around. The fight continued this way until Calliope ran onto his back and drove 1 of her new claws into Hades' head, bashing his head onto the floor twice before using both claws to pull out the God of the Underworld's very soul and once it was out, it went into Calliope, granting Lady Death his powers while killing Hades in the process!
Once the God of Underworld was truly dead, Hades' skull bursted open, releasing countless souls from his grasp before his body was then dragged by the damned into the river Styx, finally having their own vengeance against the God of the Underworld for tormenting them for so long.
Both Calliope and Alecto smirked as they saw the damned attacking Hades' body.
Now with the soul of Hades, Calliope could now swim the river Styx safely, without the damned attacking her. And could now use the Claws of Hades to summon cursed souls to attack her enemies.
After testing out her new powers on some enemies, Calliope said. "Hmmm, these powers will sure come in handy."
Alecto nodded. "Indeed, baby. And with Hades gone, I'm sure we can get out of the Underworld easily now."
"Then let's go." Calliope says as she and Alecto jumped back into the Styx, and swam to where the damned were leading them. After they submerged, Calliope and Alecto noticed that they were back in Hephaestus's Forge.
When they climbed out of the water, the Smith God looked surprised to see Calliope and Alecto again and asked "Calliope? Alecto? Can it be? Does this mean Lord Hades rules no longer?".
With the Claws of Hades in her hands, Calliope proudly said. "The God of the Underworld is dead."
"Dead?" Hephaestus asked, even more surprised, but then smiled. "Ha! Hades deserved to suffer, though I thought his death impossible."
Alecto shrugged. "Olympians overestimate themselves. No offense, Hephaestus." She apologized.
Hephaestus smiled as he knew that Alecto didn't mean to offend him. "None taken. Though I will keep it in mind, my friends."
Then both women noticed the activated portal to Hephaestus' right.
The Smith God looked at where his friends were looking at and explained. "You need the soul of a God to use the Hyperion Gate, but as you have Hades' you can go in and out of the Underworld whenever you guys want. THIS portal here hasn't been used in centuries. Otherwise, if I wasn't cursed to be imprisoned in this place, I could have used it to see my beautiful daughter again." Hephaestus then became sad as he mentioned he couldn't use it to escape the forge, as he was bound to this place by his father Zeus. And just as Kratos, the Smith God could only be freed once the King of the Gods was dead.
Alecto stroked the giant Smith God's hand, as she and Calliope understood how it feels to miss their child.
But Calliope still wanted to know why Hephaestus was really imprisoned in this forge. "Hephaestus. Why were you really put in here? Why was Pandora taken?"
The Smith God hesitated again, unsure if he should tell them, making Calliope notice that he was trying to hide something from them.
Hephaestus then sighed deeply and told them. "Well... I wasn't always loyal to Zeus as you thought I was. Though I was the most prized craftsman in all of Olympus and designed and built many of the structures, I... had my doubts about my father's reign over the world, but I remained quiet about it. Zeus rewarded me for my work to allow me to marry the love of my life, Aphrodite. My mother, Hera bragged of my talent. The day you killed Ares, was the moment that everything started to change. Slowly, Zeus became the fiend you now know. I could no longer stand and watch as how Zeus neglected mankind. When I challenged my father directly, he punished me severely. He locked me up in my own forge. Worst of all, he took my beloved daughter, Pandora. My reason for living." The Smith God became more sad as he told further. "I now spend my time here, trying to recreate her. I fail, again and again."
Both Calliope and Alecto looked up the ceiling, seeing all kinds of different statues of Pandora. All failed results of recreating Pandora again, cause Hephaestus missed his daughter so much.
The two women felt very sorry for their friend to suffer like this before Calliope tried to encourage him. "Pandora is still alive, Hephaestus."
He nodded as he already knew "I know, Calliope. I can feel it. You... you and Alecto, Calliope. You can bring her back to me."
Pandora meant a lot to Calliope and Alecto too, as she had become like a second daughter to them. Both smiled as Alecto said before they left. "Don't worry, Hephaestus. Once we know where Pandora is locked away, we'll free her."
Hephaestus smiled while wiping away some tears from his eyes. "Thank you. I knew I could count on you two."
As they were out of sight from the Smith God, Calliope said to her lover. "Hmmm, something tells me that Hephaestus isn't telling us everything."
Alecto nodded in agreement. "Indeed. It was like he wasn't completely honest to us. But we'll figure this out later, baby. Let's just get out of the Underworld and see how things are going up there. Now that you have Hades' soul, we can use that portal we were at before."
"Then we'll start there. I just hope Gaia and the other Titans are alright." Calliope said with worry before the 2 lovers began their journey back to the portal from before.
They went back to the circular room from before and once Alecto tried to turn the crank, the statues that didn't come to life the first time finally did before the Ghost of Sparta and former Fury queen killed them along with some demon dogs. They then turned the crank counterclockwise until the entrance was at the right place and went back to the entrance of Hades' palace and after killing a few archers, headed to the now activated Hyperion Gate.
Once they were at the gate, Athena's spirit appeared. "Remember your purpose, Calliope and Alecto. The Twilight is upon us. His death is our only hope."
"Understand this, Athena: Zeus will die." Calliope told the spirit.
"And don't even think about coming to us again unless it's important, Athena, and not before." Alecto added after her lover before they went through the Hyperion Gate, leaving the Underworld to rejoin the battle on Olympus.
